I am sorry that I forgot to write this on time for Valentine's Day. This is a sappy love story, with a huge dash of angst. This is primarily about Star and her relationship with her parents fighting and her with Danny. Star's parents are an exaggeration of my parents.
I post all of my fanfiction on three accounts. One is Archiveofourown under the username FangirlWriter1!, under the username DaniMason, and on Wattpad under the name FangirlWriter. Valentine's Day was supposed to be a day of love. Despite Star's best wishes, it does not always go that way. Star was annoyed. She and Danny called each other and had a lovely conversation and wished each other a Happy Valentines Day. Star and Danny made plans to meet up later in the evening. Star was stuck in her room with her parents having full reign of the house.
There was a bitter irony to Star's parents' relationship. It was love and pure hatred. They always insisted on arguing during any holiday, and most of the year. Star had noticed a pattern that was inevitable with their fighting. They would argue for maybe a whole month or a few weeks. Then it would be peaceful until everything built up again. The holidays were fair game for a screaming match. Star still remembered when she was a young child, and Christmas was filled with tension that wouldn't go away until several screaming matches. Somehow, though, this was way better than when she was nine and staying up until eleven because she could not get ready for bed with them screaming.
Star was anxiously waiting for Danny and her plans so she could enjoy her time with Danny and have a day of love. Instead, she had parents who should have given up by now on their love story and signed the divorce papers. Her Mom had surgery right before Valentine's several years ago, and that didn't stop the screaming matches. What could stop them at this rate? Death?
Knowing her bitter parents, if they died together, they would come back as ghosts to scream at each other. Starting the bitter tango that is their love story. If one of them died before the other, well stone is great to yell at and hit.
Star decided on a whim that she wanted to go on a long walk in the crisp air and make her way to the Hideout so she could get ready without the screams and occasional sounds that made her wonder if she should call the police for domestic violence. She didn't ever see any bruises on either of her parents. So domestic violence probably isn't going on.
She got her headphones and put on music because nothing can tune out screaming like some music. She packed her dress and makeup. She ran out of the house before her parents noticed. She quickly texted them that she was going out and that, she would be back by ten.
In about 30 minutes she got to the Hideout and dropped off her stuff. Danny was there hanging out.
Star said with a tone that went perfectly with her slight smirk, "Hey my Valentine. How are you on the day of love and people that should have broken up years ago?"
Danny said, "That was a long way to say Valentine's Day, my Valentine. I am having a good day, even though I had to mediate a fight between Johnny 13 and Kitty. If I have to hear one more time that Johnny has a wandering eye, I am going to lose my mind!"
"I am sorry Danny, that must have sucked. My parents are trying to kill each other with their words like every other holiday."
"I am so sorry Star. Even my parent's Christmas argument doesn't compare to your parents' penchant for arguing."
Star said with a teasing tone, " I am fine Danny. I am going to take a bath before I start getting ready. I would invite you, but I don't think we are ready for a romantic bath with rose petals and leaning against each other."
Danny blushed bright red all over his face "That is true. Have fun."
Star got into the warm bath and added some lavender to it. She leaned into the tub and relaxed in the burning water.
A few hours later she got out and got dressed. She put on red lipstick and a lovely red dress with a sweetheart neckline. She walked towards Danny who was smiling gently at her.
"Star you look beautiful!"
"Thank you, Danny."
They went to the restaurant, had a fabulous time, and then went on a romantic walk with plenty of making out. Danny brought her home at nine fifty pm. They had the classic good night kiss on the porch. Overall it was the best Valentine's Day that Star ever had.
