Bo
The brunette took a deep breath and pounded her hand hard on the table. She was sitting doing nothing, and that doing nothing is not going to get her everything that she wants.
She started her car and sped away. She has to be swift and to the point about this. Any change is good change. Especially if she is ever going to change Lauren's mind about them. When and if she remembers them. She pulled up and parked. She grabbed her jacket and pulled it on. Taking another breath, she pulled the door open and the instant aromas hit her nostrils. The music and voices were loud. So loud, nobody had noticed her entrance. She looked around and spotted him. She excused herself through the small crowd and stood in front of him, until he noticed her.
"Bo! Trick smiled.
"We need to talk". Bo spoke softly. Trick nodded and called for a barmaid to cover for him. The duo walked down to his lair and Bo wasted no time with her intentions. "I know you're my grandfather, but I've come to say goodbye". She turned around.
"What? Why? Trick asked.
"Lauren hates the Fae. I mean she truly hates them to the point of extreme pain. If I am going to have any chance at helping her heal, I cannot live in Toronto again." Bo never blinked. The tone in her voice never wavered.
Trick sighed. "I was just getting to know you Isabeau. That is a name that will always remain on my tongue and in my memory. But if you want to go, I cannot stop you. I won't stop you". The old man bowed his head. The instant loss was almost too much to bear. But there would be even more loss if Bo loses Lauren again. Thousands would lose their lives behind her angry Succubus.
"I will call you every now and then, but I can't just hang out here. Live here. I have never seen Lauren's eyes so cold. If I am going to warm them, I can't do that in a place that brought her constant pain and anguish." Bo stood looking at the back wall. She knew she was hurting Trick, but he is an old man that has probably known thousands of years of hurt. Most by his own doing. Taking a few steps forward, she turned around again.
"Kenzi". Trick sighed. The old man would have to claim her if Bo is going to get a clean break from the Fae.
"I will talk to Kenzi after I leave here. If she wants to come with me, she needs to understand where I am going and why I am doing it. But I won't be taking anyone else with me". Bo started walking and never looked back. Trick was never one for hugs and long goodbyes. This was not really a goodbye. More like a I will call you later.
Bo walked out as smoothly and as drama free as she walked in. She hoped Kenzi was alone at home, but even if she was not, her plain is solid.
The Morrigan's office
"Madam you have some visitors". Bruce knocked on the door.
"Send them the hell away". The Morrigan groaned.
"It's Dr. Lewis ma'am". Bruce spoke again.
"Send her in fool". The Morrigan lifted her head up and set her pen down.
"I won't bullshit with you Evony. I need to know what I did". Lauren stepped inside. Her hand was tightly squeezing Crystal's hand.
"Lauren you are a brilliant idiot. You were free from this shit and your safety and protection is in the eyes of that beholder we call a Succubus. But I will help you. You came to me after I got you off the streets. You would have died there. But before you were brought to me, you saw something that you did not like. Something so cold and heartbreaking for your human heart that you spent less than a day in my labs coming up with a memory wiping serum for Bo. We both agreed that once my labs were scrubbed clean of your experiment that you would leave and never come back. Luckily, the Una Mens are dead, so that threat around your neck is gone too". The Morrigan rambled confidently.
"I see. Can I see notes? Something that suggests this serum ever existed? Lauren asked.
"Archivist! The Morrigan screamed.
"Madam? The Archivist appeared.
"Dr. Lewis wants her notes, give them to her, right now". The Morrigan ordered the man.
He turned and smiled at the Doctor. She smiled again when he pulled an envelope from his pocket.
Lauren squeezed Crystal's hand again as she took it from him. "We are done here".
"Of course, come again if you need anything else, Doctor". The Morrigan smiled as she watched the women walk out. Bruce nodded as he closed the door.
Vex entered the office from a side door. "I still don't understand what you are doing".
"That's why I'm the Morrigan and you are not. If she remembers the Succubus again, that bitch will still be living in misery. Only Lauren and I know the real reason she injected herself with that serum. Shit, I wish I could forget half these Fae asses too. So, in a way, I envy the Doctor. She's also smarter than any game the Succubus will try and run on her." The Morrigan went back to writing ad Vex left after realizing she was not going to tell him anything else.
"Where are we going now? Crystal asked.
"Somewhere I can read this and not have eyes on me. Well besides yours of course". Lauren squeezed Crystal's hand and released it to drive. She could read the notes on the way but wanted to make sure she has plenty of light to read. She hurried to her designated location and looked around before climbing out with Crystal. She does not know this Bo. If she is like the rest of the Fae, she could strike from anywhere, at any given moment.
Bo, Dyson and Kenzi.
Bo walked into the old building and did not hear anything. She shrugged and walked up the stairs to her bedroom. She looked around for anything that she wanted to take with her. Her bed was out. They had fought there before. She grabbed a few clothes and threw them in a bag. She reached under the bed and pulled another bag out. Tossing it in with her clothes, she threw the entire thing over her shoulder and turned for the stairs again.
She stopped on the bottom step when she was suddenly facing Kenzi and Dyson.
"Leave us". Bo eyed Dyson.
"Bo! I am so glad you are home! Dyson ran to her and was pushed back before he could touch her.
"I'm not home, and I asked you to leave". Bo said again.
"Bo? Kenzi called.
"I need to talk to you Kenzi. But when we are alone". Bo looked to Dyson again. He backed up and walked out of the building. Once Bo heard and saw his car pull off, she turned back to Kenzi. "I'm leaving Toronto Kenzi. If you want to come with me, I will wait for you to pack a few bags". Bo sat on the couch and looked at the woman again.
"I thought you said you found Lauren. Why do we need to leave? Kenzi asked.
"She hates the Fae, Kenzi. If I want to win her back, I cannot be here. Live here. I would not expect to bring her back here either. You know I love her. I love her enough to leave here. I promised her that once too. Now we all know I am Fae, she fears me right now. But I do not think she hates me. I need a clean break from this world. I lived here long before I know what a Fae was. It's time". Bo explained.
"Where will we live? Kenzi asked.
"I wouldn't ask you to live with us. But if she turns me down, we will find something. I can't win her back with the same shit that made her run in the first place". Bo replied as she stood to get a drink of water.
"You are not taking Dyson are you? Kenzi asked.
Bo spun around and the woman got her answer. She shook her head as she took a drink and set the glass back down. "He can't come with us Kenzi. I'm leaving Trick too, if that's your next question".
"All for Lauren? You do not even know if she will remember you. If she's willing to undo whatever she's done." Kenzi stood shocked. Bo is leaving. Packed her bags and not a single word to her about it, until now.
"This isn't a glamorous life Kenzi. It certainly was not glamourous for Lauren. Not even when we were together. I cannot win her back living here. She hates this place with good reason. Nadia. Me. All of it. I need to get her to love me again. To want me and us again". Bo walked towards her bags. It was clear to her that Kenzi loves the Fae world. She has no reason to hate it. Being Bo's claimed human has perks. Protection. The freedom to come and go as she wants. Lauren did not have any of that. Not even as Bo's girlfriend. Look at how Nelson got to her and beat the hell out of her, as Bo's girlfriend. Bo shivered at the thought of Nelson and how he even got into Lauren's building. He probably faked being a delivery guy.
Kenzi took a seat. This was not an easy answer. She has grown to care about Dyson, Trick and Hale. To leave the three of them for Bo. They are her friends, but Bo had become her family. "Okay. Just give me a few minutes".
Bo nodded and took a seat. Kenzi has a lot of outfits, so her few minutes could be hours.
Dyson and Trick.
"Hey, I just saw Bo. What is going on? Dyson asked.
"She didn't tell you anything? Trick asked.
"No. She just asked me to leave". Dyson took a seat.
"Then I won't tell you either". Trick turned away from him.
"C'mon Trick. You owe me more than that. What is going on with Bo? Dyson asked again.
"She's my granddaughter. I cannot betray her. Not even for you". Trick said over his shoulder. First he never knew he had a granddaughter. Suddenly he has one, and poof, she is gone as quick as she came.
"Kenzi will tell me. I just need to wait until tomorrow". Dyson smiled into his beer. Bo and Trick were being suspicious, but Kenzi could not keep a secret, even with her best intentions.
Trick shook his head and walked down to the other end of the bar. A smug wolf has a certain smell to it. He will never learn just because Lauren is not present, does not mean she is absent from Bo's life.
Bo and Kenzi
The Succubus stood when Kenzi came storming down the stairs nearly tripping over her bags. It is a good thing Bo had already gone to put her bags in her car. Kenzi is going to need two or six more hands.
The women climbed into Bo's car. Took one look back at the building and waved goodbye to it. Bo turned around first. She needs to. It is the only way she is going to turn her life around.
Lauren and Crystal
Lauren sighed and set the envelope down. She had read and read her notes again. What she allegedly did was nearly impossible to do. She was not sure she is going to be able to undo it. If she even wants to do it, she will need Fae help. She nearly gagged at the idea. They are bastards and self-centered assholes.
"It's time for dinner love. You have been reading that thing for hours now". Crystal rubbed Lauren's shoulders and the doctor moaned at her touch.
The Doctor apologized and stood to walk to the dinner spread on the dining room table. Crystal had made all her favorites. They had cooked it so often over the years, she probably perfected it after watching the Doctor in the kitchen.
They mostly ate in silence. Crystal kept one eye on Lauren to make sure she was eating. But would let her lead the conversation. When she was ready to talk. The only sounds Lauren was making was when she set her utensils and glass down. They had come this far. But she was still unsure she wanted to inject something into herself not knowing what is on the other side.
What a puzzle. For ever piece she peels off, a different surface will be revealed. But Crystal deserves a peaceful life. She will not get it until they get answers. As a Scientist, Lauren could self-prescribe something to help herself sleep. But she never believed in taking medications for something she has not been diagnosed with yet.
She does not trust the Morrigan either. But what the Archivist gave Lauren was in her own handwriting and not Evony's. Words abbreviated like only Lauren would do. The most jarring words on the paper was the name Bo. Bo is part of the formula that was used in the serum.
She finally finished eating and joined Crystal on the couch to watch TV. They had checked into a distant hotel where nobody would be looking for them. But this was not like the others. Here they would find their answers and go home for good.
The biggest worry is what is going to happen if Lauren can recreate the serum as described in her notes. Like all Science, it is risky. Risky for her health. For her life. For her mental state. For her relationship. This was like watching a movie. She was putting herself in someone else's life. Who was this Lauren so hurt or angry that she put all of these chemicals into her body to forget one person out of billions in the world?
"You won't know until you do it. I will be right there with you. From the moment you pick up that needle and far after you have injected yourself". Crystal whispered. Yes this was her idea for Lauren to go after real answers, but that does not mean she should abandon the Doctor in their current relationship. Bo did not look harmless but looks could and can be deceiving. Lauren does not trust the woman. That is something to be alarmed about.
"Crystal this is going to change everything. Everything. If I was so upset with that woman to do that to myself, it is going to bring all of that anger, hatred and hostility back. If I was in love with her like she said, I must have hated her just as much." Lauren sat up on the couch.
"I will draw a bath for you. You can relax in there while I clean up out here". Crystal stood and left Lauren on the couch. She cannot hold her hand and make this go away. But she can take care of her, while she is still hers. Her Lauren. Her life. Her love. Whatever she thinks of Bo after this injection, she is still going to love the blonde with all that she has. All that she is. She will not give up Lauren so easily. She loves her too. She deserves her. They deserve each other.
She helped Lauren into the tub and put on some soft music. This used to help Lauren relax. That is until Bo showed up. Lauren leaned back and closed her eyes. She and Crystal had talked about hypnosis. But Lauren did not want to do that to herself. She might alert the wrong people to her being a fugitive in the human world. Alert innocent people about the Fae world too.
She mentally went over her notes again. The injection would take hours to take effect. Where would she be when she took it? What would happen to Crystal while she slept? The Morrigan had her in a secure location after the first injection. There is no Fae to protect her now. That crazy Succubus could be Aife. Trick once said his daughter has many aliases. She could kill her in her sleep. The Fae owes her many favors, but they would never grant them.
Hale was always a nice Fae to her, but he is Dyson's best friend. If the wolf still has friends. The first Ash and Lochlan are long gone. So, they cannot be called upon. Trick. She would not trust Trick to pour her a drink that is not poisonous right now.
There are things she would need first for the injection but first she needs a sick bay to rest and to allow it to work. She worked with many Doctors in the Light Fae compound. They were her colleagues but never her friends. There would not be a medical emergency for a Doctor to need to be on standby.
She banged her head against the wall. Think Lewis, think. She opened her eyes when she thought of a place. Only she knew about. But she would have to return to Toronto. She sighed again and decided on it. Crystal is worth that trip again. She has unknowingly thrown this woman's life into a tailspin because of her past. No matter what she finds there, Crystal is her future. No self-serving Succubus will change that.
She washed, dried off and joined Crystal in bed. She climbed over and took the woman into her arms. "Tomorrow we will get our answers. I have to see the Blood King first, and then we will go into temporary exile while I let the new injection reverse the effects of the first. I promise you we will not break up. I love you. You are worth doing this for. I am doing this only for you. So my sleeping habits won't keep you up with worry." Lauren whispered as she kissed the back of the woman's head. They settled in and fell asleep.
The next day.
Trick had emerged from his lair when the phone rang. He picked it up and heard a familiar voice on the other end.
"Yes, I have that, but I think we should talk". Trick sighed.
"Just get it for me and meet me at the agreed upon location". The caller hung up on him.
Trick sighed and went into his vault. He grabbed a small box and walked back out. He grabbed his favorite hat and snuck out of his own bar.
"Lauren, you know you have to be extra careful with this". Trick warned.
"I'm a Doctor, Blood King. I know the risks. Now give it to me. I need to get out of here before she comes". Lauren whispered under a thick coat and hat.
"It's Bo's blood Lauren, it could bind you to her, forever". Trick warned again.
"I won't use that much of it." Lauren gently took the box and nodded for Crystal to drive off slowly. If they sped away, it would alert people.
"Is there any other way? Crystal asked.
"According to my notes I used less than half a vile of Bo's blood in my serum to forget her. I have everything else I need for the procedure. We will be safe after I take it. Just follow my directions to our temporary hideout". Lauren spoke softly. They were about ten hours away from getting all of this over with. Then they can go back to their life. Theirs. Not some fairy tale life concocted by a murderous Succubus.
