Bo.
It was early, early morning and there Bo sat, drinking some juice as she looked out the window. There was nothing to see but trees. No birds flying. Nothing. Fitting since she's felt like her world stopped when Lauren was half dead in her hands. As many dead bodies as she had seen during her life, that body can never be that way again. It would kill the succubus too. Then the world and every living creature just out of her sight at the moment. She sighed as she shook those thoughts off. She can't be this way. Gloom and doom. She had allowed that kind of thinking fuck with her relationship even when they were just friends. Lauren's not this. She's not that. All spoken to Bo when they were all new friends. She walked out on Lauren their first time and that entitled her weeks old friend and roomie, Kenzi, to judge the doctor. Being fae made Dyson feel entitled and Bo's ultimate endgame. She allowed it because she trusted them. Trusted their input. She was wrong. She should have trusted herself. Trusted her heart even though it broke the minute that she misunderstood Lauren's intentions.
She took another drink and set the half empty glass on the table. She needed water and stood to pour a glass of it. There is nothing half empty about her heart when it comes to the doctor. She allowed all of that to happen to Lauren too. Allowed her to think they weren't endgame. Allowed her to show herself out of the clubhouse without staying to talk. She allowed Dyson to explain about Aife. She allowed Kenzi to explain whatever they fought about. Lauren didn't get that chance until weeks later and by then it should have been too late. Lauren had every right not to tell her anything else because Bo didn't allow her the time to explain. She's done allowing everything about Kenzi and Dyson's feelings about Lauren to cloud her mind. Good or bad, she's just done. Lauren has agreed to date her and those dates will be tables for two, not four.
Lauren.
The blonde had gone on an errand. Well, to a local clinic anyway. She showed them her credentials and asked to run her own labs. Once the results came in, they were brought to her in a sealed envelope. She was assured everything else would be destroyed. Walking out, she climbed into her car and drove away. She looked back and sighed. She doesn't know why she's so secretive about her own labs, but as a doctor she wants to know everything. Needs to know everything. Every detail. What Isabeau's life essence did to her besides saving her life. To make sure her bloodwork is as normal as it can be. She never knew Bo saved any of it. She quickly poured it into Trick and that was that. He was back and healthy and she passed out. Her succubus had surfaced and like the Lich, she passed out and Bo was in control again. Now, she's dating the woman. Bo is right. They don't know each other like they used to. A part of Lauren was lost to Bo once she injected herself to forget her.
Lauren didn't want to wait. She didn't want to hear any bullshit reason why good-hearted, helpful Bo didn't stop to help her, even if she had forgotten her. Lauren was still a stranger in distress. She shook that off and focused on the road. It was still early and Bo is likely up and about.
The Dal.
"If Bo is not going to take care of herself, then we have to. Look how long and hard she looked for Lauren, then when she found her, the woman wanted nothing to do with her. Nothing. We have all been there for her. Been loyal. Been her shoulder to cry on and her ears to vent into. We have to step up for her. She will need us." Dyson looked back and forth between Kenzi and Trick. Both rolled their eyes.
"I don't know how you are thousands of years old and still don't understand that Bo is doing what she wants to do. You are just mad that she is not doing you." Kenzi stared at her glass as she spoke.
"You said you wanted me to be around to protect Bo. This is me protecting her, right now." Dyson stood directly behind Kenzi.
"Good thing you don't have vinyls in here, Trick. They could break and still not sound like a broken record like he does." Kenzi stood and walked to the ladies room. She doesn't have to go at the moment but it is somewhere in the Dal that she can get away from the wolf. He really fucked himself when he mated with Bo because that's all he knows. All that he is stuck with for another thousand years or less if he keeps screwing with that succubus.
"Dyson, for the last time, let it go." Trick slammed his hand on a table. Dyson was better to deal with when he didn't have his love for Bo.
"This isn't easy for me, Trick. I can't just turn it off." Dyson growled.
"We need to find another Norn or something. Someone that can make you free of Bo. She's not yours." Trick rubbed his chin. He turned to the wolf and turned away from him. The last time he wrote in his blood, Aife disappeared, again. But if it will stop this mess, he's almost tempted to try.
"Write in your cursed blood, it will free my daughter from literally ever having to deal with this idiot again." Aife's voice came over Trick's speakers.
"Dude, where is she?." Kenzi ran out and over to Trick.
"Don't worry I'm not there, but I could be and he knows it." Aife laughed.
"Aife, stop playing with my sound system." Trick spoke loudly.
"Would you do that, Trick? Would you write in your blood to break his mate with Bo?." Kenzi asked.
"Kenzi, there are always consequences. There is no telling what would happen if I did that." Trick shook his head.
"Then be ready to listen to him for years, decades and centuries." Kenzi shrugged. "The only person we know that knows besides you that could wipe someone's memories or mate away is the one person we can't call on."
"Dyson will have to date other women. I'm not writing in my blood and we are not going for Lauren either." Trick turned around to them with the hardest face they had ever seen from him.
"That's a better idea. I will take him to the local strip clubs until someone peaks his interest." Kenzi grabbed her jacket and pointed for Dyson to walk out.
"I don't want a strip club, Kenzi." Dyson shook his head.
"It is either that or let Aife bust your balls into oblivion and you know she would." Kenzi walked fast. If she doddled, Dyson would too.
Dyson and Kenzi walked out of the Dal and immediately saw an entourage. "I trust you know who they are? If you ever come near my human again, I will force their hands to cut off your head. I don't mean the one near your ass either." The Morrigan spoke as she pointed to every Light Elder in the colony. "Stupid wolf, see what you've done!." One screamed.
"Strip club, Dyson, strip club." Kenzi pushed him towards his car and they immediately jumped in.
"Big mouth. I simply asked her to go for Lauren again. She didn't have to tell the Morrigan about it." Dyson stared at the large groups as they started to disperse.
"She probably didn't. You were probably spotted in public and one of the Dark ratted you out. Don't go looking for trouble right now Dyson. There's too much going on." Kenzi buckled her seatbelt. Please, let this work, she thought internally.
The Morrigan's office.
"Good work, Bruce. Next time that fool gets near Crystal, I want you to personally bring him to me." The Morrigan spoke as she took a seat.
"Crystal is pretty cool. She's offered to produce a song if I ever write it. I don't want anything to happen to her. I should have beaten Dyson myself but you're the Morrigan and there are protocols to follow." Bruce stood with his arms folded.
"She's the most legit client that I have right now. Whatever she needs, make sure she gets it. Also, keep some eyes out for Lauren's protection too. The minute that unaligned bitch gets out of line, personally bring her to me. There are not protocols for that." The Morrigan nodded the approval for him to leave and get on everything that she had instructed him to do.
Bo and Lauren.
"Welcome home." Bo smiled as the doctor walked in.
"Sorry, I just had to do..." Lauren started.
"Lauren, we are only dating. You don't need to tell me your every move." Bo smiled and leaned back in her seat. She grabbed the remote to the TV and started flipping through the channels.
"I want to tell you where I was, it's important." Lauren replied.
Bo turned the tv off and looked up at the blonde. "I went to run my own labs. To make sure that I'm really okay. That there is nothing wrong with my blood system."
"Okay. What did you find out?." Bo leaned forward.
"I haven't looked yet. Good or bad, the news would likely make me wreck my car." Lauren pulled the envelope from her bag and took a seat.
Bo watched Lauren open it and read through a few papers. "Are you okay?."
"So far, so good." Lauren replied as she went through each sheet.
"Lauren, whatever it is, we will face it together. I will still love you. I will still want to date you. No matter what." Bo spoke softly. She half smiled at the sight in front of her. Dr. Lewis is working.
"Well, there is nothing odd. My vitals are strong and my lab results are not anything that I wasn't expecting." Lauren put the papers back into the folder and closed it.
"What were you not expecting?." Bo asked.
"My blood levels are a little extreme but that's likely due to the vial." Lauren explained.
"That is why I wanted your permission first. I didn't want to pour it into your mouth like I did with Trick. I wanted you to be aware of what I was doing. I didn't have his permission because he was gone. You are a scientist. I should have mentioned it to you afterwards. I don't regret doing it. I never will unless something drastic happens down the line." Bo grabbed Lauren's hand and squeezed.
"Bo, I am not blaming you. Far from it. I just needed to know for my own peace of mind that I am fine. I think I have a lot more energy too." Lauren smiled to ease the pouty faced brunette's concern.
"Well, that's good." Bo smiled and pushed the woman. "My succubus didn't work, I'm glad Grandmother's did."
"Thank you." Lauren gently pushed Bo.
"Always, Lauren. Always." Bo smiled wide.
"So, where are we going tonight?." Lauren asked.
"Shit, that early?." Bo jumped up.
"Bo, it's not that formal. Whatever you want to wear will be fine." Lauren waved her hands in the air.
"No. No. I have something to wear. I just didn't expect us to date this soon. I expected a few more days." Bo swallowed hard and grabbed the water she had before.
"Well, if you want to wait a few more days, we can. I just thought you wanted to start tonight." Lauren stood and Bo jumped back.
"No. We can date tonight." Bo ran her fingers through her hair.
"Italian? French? Mexican? Good old burgers and fries?." Lauren rambled off.
"I will let you pick. The company will be as good as anything cooked for me." Bo smiled.
"Subtle." Lauren laughed.
"I could not resist." Bo replied as she looked at the time. Night is hours away and she hadn't had any lunch yet. "What time tonight?."
"Six?." Lauren looked at the clock.
"Okay. I am going out for a while. I will be back to get ready before then." Bo ran out as fast as she could. Sitting and watching the time will drive her as crazy as Lauren's perfume was starting to. Lauren laughed at Bo's arousal and flopped down onto the couch after grabbing a book to read. She needs a distraction too.
Bo breathed hard once she was outside. Date tonight? She gulped and looked around. Where is she going to go? What is she going to do? The Dal is out. A light lunch. She will go for a light lunch. "Yeah, that's it." She rubbed her forehead. There, she thought as she rubbed her mouth with a napkin. She ate. She drank. She paid and tipped. A jog. She will go a mile and back. That should kill some time.
Crystal.
The blonde spotted Bo seeming to fight against something. Then she started to run. She wasn't even dressed for running. She won't speak to the woman but hopes she is treating Lauren well. In fact, she damn well better be treating Lauren very well.
Lauren.
The blonde ran her fingers through her hair as she read her book. It is an interesting read but not good enough to keep her entire attention. So, she got up to clean. She scrubbed things that already shined. She wiped things that had already been wiped down. Bo's room door was closed and it is going to stay that way. They are like roomies and it is a good thing since they are dating as friends again. Probably as strangers. She shook her head trying not to think about anything but whatever she could clean. She wished for a microscope so she could look at any morsel of dirt she could find. But who is she kidding, they keep the place spotless. It is only the two of them, not a large household. "I have got to find something to do. A jog? I could go for a jog!. No. Hours have already passed and I would be late." She laughed at talking to herself. "A nap. She can get a nap in. She can close her bedroom door, set an alarm and take a nice nap. If she can get her mind to stop thinking.
Bruce and Crystal.
"Thanks for meeting me. I don't have long. But this is what I've come up with so far." Bruce handed Crystal a few sheets of paper.
Crystal smiled and took them. She drank some wine as she read over his song. After a few minutes she spoke. "It's not bad. Add a beat to it and I will try my best to get it out there and on the airwaves."
"Really?." Bruce smiled.
Crystal laughed. To be such a big guy, he can be so shy and timid. "I'm serious. If you want I will be in the studio tonight, you can come and we will play around to find a beat for you. That way I can hear it and we can proceed from there."
"I have a few more errands to run for the Morrigan but other than that, I'm free. Besides, I can call it work since I will be with you and you're her human." Bruce popped his knuckles.
"6 o'clock." Crystal nodded. "I do have to get going because I have a meeting in a few minutes." She stood and left Bruce behind. "Bring those papers!." Bruce smiled and gathered his papers.
Hours later.
The water could be heard flowing in both showers. Bo had come home a little sweaty and immediately went to shower. Lauren had been up since her alarm had gone off and gathered her outfit for the night before she walked to the bathroom.
Both women planted their foreheads against the shower walls at the same time. Bo closed her eyes and breathed in the steam. An hour later they stood in their mirrors before emerging.
"Wow!." Lauren spoke when Bo walked out of her room.
"You said it is not formal, but that could change and I want to look nice." Bo smiled.
"I did and you do." Lauren smiled.
Bo laughed. "Shall we go, doctor?."
"Yes. Let's go." Lauren nodded and grabbed her keys from the coffee table.
Bo followed her out. "We can drive for a bit until we decide where to eat."
"I know of a few spots with a lot of good eating." Lauren nodded and opened the driver's side door.
The women smiled as they drove and talked. Lauren felt her stomach roar and realized she hadn't had lunch. So, she is starving now.
"That has to be filled with a variety of entrees." Bo pointed.
"Then let's go see." Lauren smiled as she turned into the parking lot.
Bo smiled. Let's go see. Let's go see if they have anything worth dating for. Go see if they even like each other like they used to. Like Bo hopes.
Lauren smiled. Let's go see. Let's go see if Bo still likes the nerdy doctor. Let's see if the succubus doesn't fall asleep listening to her dissect the ingredients in whatever she chooses for dinner. Let's see if they really know each other.
"Fire." The Morrigan ordered her guards. Dyson fell to the ground, sedated. He was about to enter Bo and Lauren's restaurant. She promised Crystal that she would look after Lauren. That wolf is not looking after anything but his own interests. Her interest is her next royalty check that looks to be bigger than the last few. "Take him to an Elder's door. Ring the doorbell and get out of there."
TBC.
