Erin's POV

"You and your coffee addiction" Zane mumbled as I happily drank my iced coffee. The Battle City Tournament started today and were waiting for Yugi to show up.

"Says the fox who prefers tea over coffee" I jabbed back at my brother with a smirk. Zane rolled his eyes and decided to admire his duel disk. My attention went to mine and it was damn nice. Its weight was perfect for my wrist and I was excited to test it out in my first duel.

"Zane! Erin!"

"Hey Yugi" I greeted the King of Games as he came to a stop.

"Erin was going to be grumpy if she didn't get her coffee before the tournament started"

I punched my brother in the arm and Yugi chuckled.

"Sue me if I overslept" I reprimanded my older sibling. "When I need my coffee, I need my damn coffee"

"Mom and Grandpa are like that too" Yugi chuckled. He then looked at the other duelists. "There's definitely some new faces here I haven't seen before"

"Yugi!"

A woman with blonde hair and dressed in purple came our way. She was really pretty and Zane was holding back a slight blush. Her name was Mai Valentine and she was another finalist from Duelist Kingdom.

"Hey Mai"

"Some turn out all losers"

The gorgeous duelist eyed me and Zane.

"Oh! This is so great!"

The next thing I knew Mai was hugging me like we knew each other. She made the hug quick though.

"There aren't many girl duelists sorry I got carried away" she apologized.

"No worries" I reassured her. "It's a pleasure to meet another finalist from Duelist Kingdom, my name is Erin"

"Aw thank you, I appreciate that girlfriend, who's the handsome fella next to you?"

I flashed Zane my biggest grin and Yugi was trying not to laugh.

"I'm Zane" my older brother introduced himself. He then placed a hand on top of my head as though he was about to pet me like a dog or cat. "And this is my little sister"

"Erin was the one who saved me from the fire" Yugi changed the subject.

"That was you? Goodness your brave"

I shot Yugi a kind glance.

"I was at the right place at the right time"

"And you scared me and our parents half to death" Zane added.

"Zip it, bro"

Mai chuckled before continuing.

"I'm so excited! I wonder whose butt I should kick first"

"Not ours," Zane and I said in unison.

"You two are cute" she complimented. "I grew up as an only child so I don't know what it's like to have a sibling"

"Most of the time it's great but as you can see we get on each other's nerves" Zane pointed out.

"Yugi I thought I'd see you buzzing around!"

My skin shivered as Weevil Underwood aka the bug duelist approached. With him was Rex Raptor the duelist who had a shit load of dinosaurs in his deck.

"I'll never forget how you played me like a Chumpasaurus in Duelist Kingdom, Mai" the dino duelist greeted Mai. "Now it's payback time"

"And Yugi you won't be so lucky the next time we duel, my deck is infested with rare and powerful insects"

Weevil cackled a minute before eyeballing me. He eyed me in a way that made me uncomfortable and Zane spoke.

"Eyes off my sister or I'll use my fly swatter"

"Hey, she's cute!" Weevil protested.

I shivered while Rex sweat dropped.

"Sorry about that" he apologized to me. At least Rex had manners. Weevil and Zane were glaring daggers at one another and I face palmed. Suddenly a pair of muscular arms wrapped themselves around Weevil.

"Those are large words coming from such a little guppy," Mako Tsunami told Weevil.

"You'll think you'll win this tournament!"

Mai, Rex, Yugi, Zane, and I all sweat dropped as we watched the two duelists bickering.

"Of course, there's nothing that can't withstand my mighty creatures of the deep" Mako boasted with pride.

"Is one of them a megalodon?" I asked Mako in curiosity.

"Alas no but that would be a sweet card for my deck"

"A megla what?"

"Dude it's a giant shark that went extinct" Rex scolded Weevil. "You should have payed attention in school"

"Screw this I'm outta here! And you!"

Weevil pointed at Zane.

"If we come across each other again I'll crush you with my bugs!"

"And I'll have the pleasure of spraying the hell out of them with my bug spray pest!" Zane snapped as Weevil took off. Rex and Mako did the same. Mai bid us farewell and wished me and Zane good luck.

"Alright Yugi we're going to head off too, see you later" I notified the King of Games.

"Good luck you two"

I gave Yugi a thumbs-up while Zane smirked. All we had to do now was wait for Kaiba to make the grand announcement.

"Greetings Duelists"

I jumped out of my skin at hearing Kaiba's voice.

"Where is he?" Zane wondered.

A shadow from above got my attention and I looked up along with Zane. A blimp was hovering over the city and on it was a large screen with Seto Kaiba himself chuckling back.

Hot damn he's beautiful I thought as I felt my face going red.

Zane was smirking and I flipped him off while Kaiba continued addressing the crowds below.

"Welcome to Battle City, it's time to put your dueling skills to the test, I hope none of you entered my tournament looking for friendly competition, Battle City is going to be an all-out war"

"Dramatic much?" Zane mumbled sweat dropping.

"Before my Battle City Tournament begins I thought I'd let you all know what you're in for in case you want to back out now, let's begin with my duel disks everyone I decided was good enough to enter received one, with it you can duel anytime, anywhere and they contain a tracking chip that allows me to watch every move you make"

That made sense but I wondered if Kaiba knew about the Valyrian deck.

"Next let's talk about the most important tournament rule, the loser of each duel is required to fork over their rarest card to the winner"

So that was why Silver's Cry was displayed next to my picture in the Kaiba Corp database. The CEO of Kaiba Corp went on to explain about the clear cards each duelist got with their duel disks. Every time someone won a duel they received a locator card and ten finalists would make it to the next round. Six locator cards would reveal where to go for the finals. Kaiba of course mentioned about competing and he was keen on dueling Yugi.

"Also to the duelist with the Valyrian deck, I hope we cross paths"

That got me to blush even harder and Zane's grin widened. Kaiba then made the announcement that it was time to start dueling and some duelists nearby voiced their excitement.

"Alright sis I'm going to find some competition"

"Good fortune to you brother"

Zane chuckled before patting my head.

"And same to you little sister, just watch out for that jerk Weevil"

"Go duel and quit being overprotective" I teased Zane.

Zane shot me a wink before he and I went in opposite directions to find ourselves an opponent.

Seto Kaiba's POV

I wasn't surprised to see Yugi was dueling. According to his duel disk information, he was dueling a rare hunter. Ishizu said the rare hunters most likely had the other two god cards and I smirked as they fell into my trap.

"Hey, Seto check this out!" Mokuba called out. I walked to where my little brother was and he nodded at the monitor. "You mentioned you wanted this card right?"

I looked on the screen and on it was Silver's Cry. It was a rare magic card indeed and I was pleased to see it was in my tournament.

"Nice work kid, who owns it?"

"Give me a sec" Mokuba replied before tapping a few keys. "Here we go"

A girl about my age appeared next to Silver's Cry.

"Erin Randall, eighteen years old" Mokuba went on. "Wait a minute her Dad is my history teacher!"

"Really?"

I met Mr. Randall during a parent-teacher conference and took an immediate liking to him. Mokuba enjoyed his class immensely and anyone who did that for my little brother in school had my respect. She was cute though I wasn't going to mention it out loud.

"Seto your staring"

Never mind Mokuba noticed. He then smirked evilly.

"You like her don't you?"

"Kid I haven't met her yet"

Mokuba chuckled darkly while I only shook my head.

"Let's go check out the competition little brother"

"Sure thing!"
