2. excerpt from "You'll Be in My Heart" by Phil Collins

Gabby stroked her chin as she looked down at a page in the book she was working on.

"Hmm... this page needs a little something." Gabby said.

"How about some marigolds?" Isabela suggested, making some appear in her hand. "Can't go wrong with those."

Isa placed a few on the page.

"Thanks, Isa. That's just what it needed." Gabby said, closing the book to press the flowers in. She grunted as she pressed down hard. "Hmm."

And then she sat on the book, making Isabela laugh.

Gabby went to the Encanto to work on her project almost every week for the last few months. She wanted her surprise to be perfect, and hid it from anyone else. Anytime her parents asked where she was, she told them she was on a play date with the Madrigals, which wasn't far from the truth. Her friends from there were always happy to receive a visit from their Star-verse friends, and they were happy to help Gabby with perfecting her present for her family. The triplets, especially.

Every year on their wedding anniversaries, they had their own special ways of making them special, and every year, their love grew. So, when Gabby told them she was working on a special scrapbook to present to all her family and friends at the anniversary ball, they were more than happy to help. And they were the only friends who knew about it, and they were touched when she made an entire section with pictures from when they met and became friends.

"Just wait until the presentation at the ball," said Gabby. "It's gonna be so much fun!"

"We can hardly wait until then." Mila said.

Carousella looked at the time and said, "Looks like we better head back before Gabby's parents come looking for us."

Gabby placed the book into the pretty bag Mirabel sewed for her as a gift.

"Thanks for having us over, everyone. And thanks for the beautiful bag, Mirabel. I love all the roses on it."

"Glad you like it." Mirabel said. "Say hi to the family for us."

"I'll escort you home, Gabby." said Mila.

Mila took Gabby's hand and walked with her to the mirror. And she, Carousella, and Gabby went through together. Except, when they went through...

Gabby and her friends found themselves transported to a bedroom Mila didn't recognize.

"Um... did you makeover the room you keep the mirror in?" Mila asked, looking around.

But Gabby recognized this room very well, especially when she saw a familiar view from the window.

"No." Gabby looked around. "This looks like my room... back in our old penthouse. We must be on Coruscant!"

"But how?" Carousella said. And then she looked behind her and gasped. "The mirror's gone!"

"WHAT?!" Gabby and Mila gasped.

"How is that possible?" Mila said.

"I don't know." Carousella said. "something must have happened while we were gone. How long were we in the Encanto?"

"We'd better check on the others!" Gabby said, rushing out of her room.

"Mommy? Daddy? Boba? Omega?" Gabby looked around and called for her family and friends. "Pinto? Aunt Kara? Uncle Carmine?"

Gabby checked where Boba's old bedroom was. None of his things were there.

Everything else in the penthouse looked mostly the same, except Gabby was scared.

"Mommy!" Gabby screamed.

That was when Padme came into the room, looking worried.

"Baby, what's wrong?" Padme said.

"Mommy! Something's very wrong!" Gabby said. "Where's Daddy?"

"Don't worry, Gabriella. You're dad's coming home very soon. He said he'll be here in ten minutes. Why don't you go wash up for dinner?"

"Can one of my friends join us tonight?" Gabby asked. "She's already here."

"Oh! Sure, Sweetie. We'll pull out another chair."

So, Gabby went back to her room and told her friends Padme said her father was coming by soon, and for now they should get washed up for dinner; maybe then, they would get some answers.

Gabby came to the table with her friends. But they were greatly surprised with the greeting Padme gave.

"Hello, you must be Gabriella's friends." Padme said.

"Um, Padme, you don't recognize us?" Carousella said.

"Have we met before?" The senator seemed confused.

"uh...I'm your daughter's horse and royal guard?"

"And I'm Mila. You know, your friend Tech's girlfriend?" Mila added.

"I'm afraid I don't know anyone by that name. You must have me mistaken for someone else."

The three girls looked at each other, thinking the same thing. What was Padme talking about?

"Um... where are my siblings?" Gabby asked.

"Gabriella, we've talked about this. Siblings aren't like something you buy in a store." Padme said. "Maybe someday we'll have another baby."

Gabby's eyes went wide at that. Padme didn't remember having other kids? Something was definitely wrong here! Luke, Leia, Omega and Boba were nowhere to be found, and Padme didn't even remember having them. What was going on here? Did Padme hit her head or something. Just then, everyone heard the sound of the door opening.

"Oh, there's Daddy." Padme said.

Gabby took that as her cue to jump out of her seat so she could go greet her father.

"Daddy! Daddy! Daddy!" she screamed excitedly.

"There's my little girl," said a new voice, which made Gabby screech to a stop before she found herself in someone else's arms.

And those arms belonged to none other than Rush Clovis.

"You?! What are you doing here?" Gabby gasped. "Where's my daddy?"

"Right here, little one. You don't recognize Daddy?" Clovis said, seeming a little confused.

"You're not my dad!"

"Someone was excited to see you, Sweetie." Padme said.

"And here's the love of my life." Clovis said, placing Gabby down.

Clovis and Padme held hands and then embraced each other in a kiss, which had Gabby shrieking, and immediately got the two to stop kissing.

"Gabriella, what's the matter?"

"Why do you keep calling me Gabriella?" Gabby said.

"Um... because that's your name?"

"I know it's my name, but you always call me Gabby, and Clovis isn't my dad! Anakin Skywalker is."

"Gabriella, that's not possible." Padme said. "You're not old enough to understand where babies come from, but, the way I can tell you now is that a long time ago, we accidentally drank some kind of potion, and it turned out your father and I were cuddling in our sleep, and then we got you. Eventually, we got married."

"But, Mommy. That's not how I remember the story going."

"Obviously, Gabriella must have had a little too much sugar." Clovis said. "Why don't we go have dinner, and then we'll put you to bed?"

Later...

After a very awkward dinner, Clovis sent Carousella and Mila out the door, and Gabby was placed into bed by her mom and Clovis.

"Where's my teddy?" Gabby asked, looking around for her bear.

"What teddy?" Padme said.

"My brown bear that I sleep with." Gabby said. "I can't sleep without her."

Padme looked around at a few stuffed animals that were in a nearby toy box, but none of them were a brown bear.

"Don't worry, my little girl." Clovis said. "I stopped somewhere and got you a little present."

And Clovis presented Gabby with a plush white teddy bear with a red ribbon tied around its neck.

"Daddy knows how much you love stuffies, so I got you a special bear to help you sleep." Clovis placed the bear beside Gabby, kissed her forehead, and placed a blanket over her. "Sleep tight, little one. You'll need your rest for school tomorrow."

Except, as cute as the bear was, Gabby just tossed it to the floor the moment her "parents" left the room. Then, Gabby heard someone tapping on the glass on her window, it was Carousella and Mila. Gabby hit the button to open the window.

"What's going on?" Mila asked.

"Yeah," said Carousella. "How come your mom doesn't remember us?"

"More importantly, why is she married to Clovis?" Gabby said. "And why does she think he's my father, and where's the rest of my family?"

"Something definitely must've happened while you were at my house." Mila said. "We gotta find out what and how we can reverse it."

"But where should we start?" Carousella asked.

Gabby thought for a moment and had an idea. If Clovis was here, then that meant Anakin had to be somewhere else. A good place to start would have to be at the Jedi Temple. But, Gabby apparently had school tomorrow.

"Then we'll wait for your parents to drop you off and then look for Anakin." Mila said. "For now, you'll need all the rest you can get."

So, the next morning, Gabby found all kinds of things had changed. She was now in some maroon plaid school uniform and being placed into a different vehicle as Clovis dropped her off at a fancy-looking building.

"Have a good day at school, little one." Clovis said.

"I know you did something, Clovis." Gabby said. "And you're gonna be in big trouble when my mom finds out."

Clovis had no clue what was going on. Why did Gabby remember Anakin Skywalker? Why didn't she believe Clovis was her father, why was her horse here also remembering him, and what did she mean when she said she knew? But, he decided he shouldn't think much of it, and just decided to drive off.

Gabby looked around the school. She definitely didn't recognize this place. But she did recognize Carousella and Mila when they came along.

"What took you guys so long?" Gabby asked.

"It's not exactly easy to pick someone up from school when you don't know where it is." Carousella said. "Come on! Let's go find Anakin."

Gabby rushed onto Carousella's back, and the alicorn flew off with her and Mila on her back to search for Anakin. The Jedi Temple was a good place to start.

Meanwhile, Clovis made a mirror call to someone he'd recently made a deal with.

"Ms. Verde. I think we have a problem." said Clovis into a pocket mirror.

"What do you mean by 'problem'?" said Mariverde.

"Gabriella remembers everything of the old world."

"What?! How is that possible?"

"I don't know! But she could jeopardize everything if she finds me out. What should I do?"

"No matter. She can't prove anything to anyone." Mariverde said. "She is just a seven-year-old child. Nothing here is the same as her old world. No one will believe her, no matter what she may say. Give it a few days, and she will soon forget everything of her old world. But don't forget our deal. I give you a world where Padme is your wife, and you use your influence to have the Commission make me Solaris' new queen."

"I remember. I'm working on that."

"You'd better. Because if you fail, there will be consequences."

And Mariverde's reflection vanished.

Carousella flew to the entrance of the Temple, only for the guards to stop them.

"Excuse me, guards." Gabby said. "I'm Princess Gabriella. I really need to talk to Anakin Skywalker. It's an emergency."

The guards, however, said nothing.

"Please, I really need help!" Gabby said, and Carousella tried to walk through, but the guards wouldn't let her.

Luckily, the girls had a plan B.

Gabby immediately grew some vines and had them grab the guards and pull them away from the entrance, while Gabby snapped the reins so Carousella would rush in. Except, the Temple looked different. It looked like the old Temple before Lady Morpha destroyed it.

"What happened to the Temple?" Carousella said.

"It looks like it did before!" Gabby said. "Well, no matter. I remember my way around the old Temple. Let's go find my dad."

Gabby asked any passing Jedi if they knew where Anakin Skywalker was. But, they didn't.

Then, Gabby remembered her father loved the hangar, so she checked there. But Anakin wasn't around there.

"Where could he be?" Gabby wondered.

Gabby started to run, and then she bumped into someone she recognized.

"Hey! Where did you come-"

"Uncle Kit!" Gabby exclaimed happily, hugging her uncle.

"Oh! Nice to see you too, Princess." the Nautolan said.

"Don't you remember me?" Gabby said, looking up at Master Fisto.

"I do. You've certainly grown a lot since I first met you as a baby." Kit said. "But, shouldn't you be in school?"

"Yes, but there's an emergency. I really need to speak with Anakin Skywalker. Is he here?"

"Yes, he is. We were about to head for a Jedi Coucil meeting."

"Perfect! Take me with you." Gabby said.

"I'm not so sure-"

"Please?" Gabby made big sad eyes at Kit.

One look at those pleading eyes, and Kit couldn't say no to her.

Soon, Gabby was brought to the Jedi Council Chambers, where Gabby saw many Jedi she recognized. She immediately ran over to Obi-Wan.

"Uncle Obi-Wan!"

"Since when does she call us uncles or aunts?" Obi-Wan said, sounding confused as Gabby hugged him.

"This girl claims she needs to speak with your former Padawan."

"Who once again is running late." Mace said, and then the doors opened. "Speak of the devil."

"Sorry I'm late. I was just-"

"Daddy!" Gabby basically tackled Anakin to the floor and hugged him tightly, showering him with kisses.

"Hey! What are you doing?!" Anakin said, getting himself up. "Kid, enough! Didn't your mother ever tell you it's impolite to jump on strangers?"

Anakin got Gabby off him and picked himself up.

"Daddy, it's me. You don't remember me?" Gabby said.

"Why do you keep calling me Daddy? I don't have any kids." Anakin said. "Or a girlfriend."

"But you do have kids. I'm your daughter."

Except, the Jedi thought Gabby sounded crazy.

"She's telling the truth." Carousella said. "Do you remember me, Anakin?"

"Can't say I do." Anakin shook his head.

"Perhaps it would do the child some good to be taken back to her parents." Ki-Adi said, and two guards came, but Gabby Force-pushed them away.

"Stop!" Gabby said. "I can prove I'm your daughter, just do a paternity test, and you'll see it. Please!"

"Look, Princess. You seem like a very nice kid." Anakin said. "But, you need to get back to wherever you need to be."

"Daddy, please!" Gabby said, with tears in her eyes. "I am your daughter. How would I know your middle name is Gabriel? Huh? And how do I know you're addicted to chocolate? And every time you eat any kind of dessert, you get more on your face than in your mouth?"

Anakin was a bit surprised by that, but then again, anyone who'd seen him eat cake would know that last one.

"What's my favorite color?" Anakin asked Gabby.

"Green." Gabby asked.

"Why?"

"It's the color of plants on Naboo, the prettiest planet you ever saw, and where the woman you fell in love with is from."

Anakin was surprised again, and so was everyone else.

"What's my favorite hobby?"

"Putting together mechanical things." Gabby also looked at each Jedi Master and stated random things only someone who really knew them would know.

"Master Windu, your middle name is Ashley, you had a girlfriend named Brenda Monroe when you were younger, and no one else knows when you're alone, your favorite past time is sketching, and your specialty in drawing is building designs. You also had a daughter with Brenda you probably don't even know about, and her name is Myra, short for Myranda. Ki-Adi, you're obsessed with gummy bears, you used to have seven daughters and four wives but lost them in a battle. Master Plo, you're afraid of cupcakes, your favorite color is orange because it is the same color as Ahsoka, who you nickname Little 'Soka, who you discovered at three years old." Obi-Wan was the last one she looked at. "Obi-Wan, your middle name is Benjamin, when you were a teenager you fell in love with Duchess Satine of Mandalore, and when you were little, your master Qui-Gon Jinn sang you a lullaby about a river of memory."

Everyone was shocked by the things Gabby just said; it sounded like she really was telling the truth, but they still weren't sure they believed her, especially Mace about him having a daughter.

"Do know how this lullaby went?" Obi-Wan said.

Gabby cleared her throat and sang the song,

Where the North wind meets the sea

There's a river full of memory

Sleep, my darling, safe and sound

For in this river, all is found

In her waters, deep and true

Lie the answers and a path for you

Dive down deep into her sound

But not too far or you'll be drowned

Yes, she will sing to those who'll hear

And in her song, all magic flows

But can you brave what you most fear?

Can you face what the river knows?

Where the North wind meets the sea

There's a mother full of memory

Come, my darling, homeward bound

When all is lost, then all is found

Obi-Wan's eyes went wide, and suddenly, he was holding his head in pain.

"Obi-Wan!" Anakin exclaimed.

Obi-Wan tried to stand up and held his head again, the pain only seeming to get worse until... he collapsed.

Everyone in the room gasped.

"What did you do?!" Mace said angrily.

"I don't know! I just-"

"Guards, take the child downstairs and contact her mother immediately." Mace said.

"Wait, please!" Gabby said, the guards grabbing her, Carousella, and Mila, and beginning to escort them out. "Uncle Mace, if you really need proof, just go to 429 Main Street Apartments to find Brenda!"

"Kid, we've heard enough." Anakin said sternly.

"Daddy, please! Daddy!" Gabby had tears in her eyes.

Gabby grabbed the edge of the door frame and tried to get her father to hear her, but Anakin seemed more interested in helping Obi-Wan. So, Gabby did the only thing she could think of at the moment. She sang out loud.

For one so small

You seem so strong

My arms will hold you

Keep you safe and warm

This bond between us

Can't be broken

I will be here don't you cry

Anakin heard Gabby singing and froze. That was his mother's lullaby! But, how did this girl know it?

Suddenly, Anakin felt himself feeling the same head trauma Obi-Wan was feeling just a moment ago. And then he collapsed too!

"Someone get a medical droid!" Mace exclaimed.

Gabby and her friends found themselves in what looked like a holding cell. In an effort to calm herself, Gabby started to brush her hair.

"Well, that went well." Mila said sarcastically.

"I just don't get it. What changed that made everything so different?" Gabby said. "How do we change everything back to normal?"

"I know about a lot of things, but the magic of this universe and changing entire worlds aren't one of them."

Just then, Carousella had an idea.

"But we know someone who teaches complicated magic for a living! Garrett!" she said. "He'll know what to do!"

"But nothing's the same in this new world." Gabby said. "How are we supposed to find him?"

"We're gonna need help." Mila said. "Do we know anyone who's good at finding things that are hard to find?"

"Boba!" Gabby and Carousella said.

With all of Boba's bounty hunter training, he knew how to scour for different places and how to get connections to folks who could help him find anyone or anything. The only problem, they didn't know where he was. But, Gabby had a pretty good idea where to find him.

That was when Padme entered the room.

"Gabriella Rosella Clovis, you are in so much trouble!" Padme said angrily, entering the room.

Gabby didn't like hearing a full name being used, knowing it meant things were serious. But the fact that she had a new last name she knew didn't belong to her made it ten times worse.

"Thank you for finding her, Master Jedi." said Padme. "I'm sorry for any trouble she's caused."

"She was hardly any trouble, Chancellor." said Kara.

"Aunt Kara!" Gabby exclaimed, running up and hugging her aunt, but then she realized what Kara had said, "Wait..."

"Chancellor?" said the girls.

"Mom? When did you become the chancellor?" Gabby said.

"Last year. Don't you remember?" Padme asked.

Gabby shook her head. "I think I'd remember an event as big as that." She looked at Kara again. "Aunt Kara, don't you remember me? I'm your niece."

"I'm sorry, Princess. I don't have a niece."

"Yes, you do. Your father, Qui-Gon Jinn, is my grandfather, my father is Anakin Skywalker, one of your half-brothers. And you have magic like I do! Your power is super speed."

Kara looked at Padme and said, "She's been saying all kinds of crazy things today. Got quite an active imagination, doesn't she?"

Padme sighed and took Gabby's hand.

"Come on, Gabriella. We are going to have a long discussion about this when we get home, and you are grounded."

"But, Mommy-"

"No buts, Gabriella. Come on."

However, Kara did find it odd that this girl knew about her powers and her father. She thought, and decided she needed to do a little digging. And luckily for her, Gabby left her brush behind, and it had some hairs in it.

Padme took Gabby to her room and took her computer and music player before leaving her there for a time-out.

"Teckla's going to look after you tonight.

Luckily, Gabby still had her cell phone in her bag. So, she took it out and started to use the holo-net to do a little research.

Meanwhile, Padme went to her office, where she was met by Clovis and the two of them kissed.

"What happened out there, Love?" Clovis said. "Is Gabriella okay? I got worried when her teacher said she never showed up to school."

"You won't believe it, but she ditched school to go to the Jedi Temple." Padme said. "I don't know why she would do that though, especially after we told the Council we weren't interested in giving up our daughter."

Clovis got nervous at that, but didn't show it.

"You know our Gabriella. She is a very curious child. A little too curious, perhaps. But give her time. She'll be fine."

Padme sighed and said, "I hope you're right. I love you."

"I love you more." Clovis said, hugging Padme close to him.

Clovis really hoped Gabby wouldn't mess things up for him, but he figured he needed to keep a close eye on her.
