Wop wop, im back and here is a new chapter... Poor Dave...

Night was staring out the hospital window, the stars shining in the sky showing that it was now his namesake.

Dave's new body started to twitch in his sleep, convulsing on the hospital bed.

Dave shot up from the bed, hyperventilating in panic.

Night shot over to the bed and held down the panicking brown dragon.

"Dave, it's fine man- you're fine now, you're safe," Night started saying, trying to calm down his friend.

Dave's breathing started to calm and he looked down at his body, seeing his light orangish brown under scales on his chest.

"I'm a dragon..." Dave muttered in shock.

Night sighed, "I'm sorry, they couldn't stop the liquid that had hit you, no matter what the doctors tried, they couldn't stop the acid from entering your blood flow and almost killing you."

Night took a deep breath before continuing, "So I intervened, I ordered the transformation so you could live."

Dave's breathing had finally calmed all the way down, "I don't remember a bunch... what happened?"

Night shook his head, maybe Dave forgot the incident and the pain wouldn't scar him mentally, "You were testing Zwayer, and a liquid shot out of his mouth and some of it hit you."

Dave shivered still looking away from Night, "I don't remember the test, but I do remember the... pain."

Dave looked at Night with a new emotion, guilt, "Not that I'm not grateful, but you shouldn't have wasted this body on me," Dave said sincerely, "These bodies are worth a fortune."

Night shook his head again, "I have multiple reasons why you're wrong," Night started explaining, "you're the best scientist on the team, you have the most experience with dragons, and... you're my friend."

Dave leaned back in the bed, laying down, "But I'm not a fighter, I never have been very aggressive or much of a fighter."

"I'll help you become one, I know that you are capable of learning," Night said seriously.

"But you hate dealing with people who don't know what they are doing," Dave muttered, remembering Night complaining about his copilots.

Night once again, shook his head, "The difference between you and them was they never had the confidence to ask for help or were never capable of admitting it, I know I can trust you to not bull shit with me and ask for help when you don't know how something works."

"Dave didn't say anything to Night's explanation and just exhaled, "What about Zwayer?"

"He is upset at himself, he is a very loyal man, he would hate himself if he accidentally killed you." Night explained. "I could hear his mind and could tell he was pretty upset with himself."

"But it was an accident?" Dave said upset at the serpentine-like dragon, "He didn't mean to hit me."

"He doesn't care," Night said, "I know where his is coming from and I would feel the same way if I had been the one to accidentally hit you,"

Night frowned remembering what he was thinking as he was pushing Dave's dying corpse through the hospital, the memory that ran through his head...

Never again.

"It's our duty as the best of the best to not make mistakes like this..." Night muttered out loud.

Dave sighed and put his head back against the pillow, "But I'm not the best of the best."

Night reached over and grabbed the brown dragon's shoulder, "Don't worry, I'll help you become the best."

Dave looked at him with a smirk, "Better than you?"

Night laughed, "Oh no, hell no, I'm the best, I just wake up and piss excellence."

Dave laughed with him and went to get out of his bed but he fell onto the floor, not knowing how to use his hour legs. Now they both were laughing even harder.

Back with Zwayer.

Zwayer was resting against the floor of the hangar, turning shades of light blue and dark purple, sulking.

How could he do this, especially on his first day as a dragon? It was disgraceful, you would have thought that I would have learned after my accident in Skunkworks that I would have learned something!

He heard the door to the hangar open and he looked over to see Night walking through the door.

Zwayer shot up from where he was lying down and ran over to the black dragon, "How is he?"

Night nodded his head over to the door, "Why don't you ask him yourself."

Zwayer turned his head back to the door and saw another dragon walking through the large door.

The dragon was not as tall as he was or Night, but my god... he was JACKED!

His muscles were huge! He looked like he weighed almost twice as much as he did. Wait a minute...

"Dave?"

The rust orange dragon looked over at him, "Hey Zwayer..."

Zwayer shot his head over to look back at Night, "Why didn't you tell me?"

"I didn't want to in case the transfer failed, we had no idea if it would work in the state that he was in..." Night explained himself.

Zwayer looked back over at Dave, "Dave, I am so sorry, I'll make sure it never happens agai-" He was cut off when Dave lifted up his talons to stop him while smiling.

"It's fine, you didn't mean to, and I'm alive and that's all that matters," Dave said sincerely.

Zwayer shook his head, "No, I almost got you killed, I can't be making these mistakes!"

"I am not upset at you, nobody here knew that you had something completely different than what Night has." Dave said and then his eyes grew in realization, we need to check me too...

"We can do that later, are you sure you're all right?" Night asked him.

Dave nodded, "I am sure, I don't feel bad or anything?"

"But Dave... what are you going to do now?" Night asked him, remembering something.

"What do you mean-" Dave's eyes grin in realization. He is legally dead now... he has a wife! She has no idea what happened. She deserved to know!

Dave went to run out the door but Night saw this and went to tackle him before he could get out the door. He jumped onto the brown dragon and pinned him against the concrete floor.

"Let me go!" Dave said squirming, "She has to know!" Dave threw off Night with a burst of strength and stood back up.

Zwayer was standing in his way now, "I'm sorry, but I can't let you do this..."

Dave didn't even say anything, he grabbed Zwayer and through him like he weighed as much as a twig.

Dave ran out the door and started to spread his wings and tried to fly. He got off the ground about ten feet but he fell right back to the ground.

He tried again, this time flapping his wings but having the same results... back onto the ground.

He didn't know how to fly.

He tried again but this time he didn't get up off the ground, laying against the ground weeping.

Night walked in front of the now weeping dragon.

"Dave... I'll make sure that she knows that you're not dead, she just can't see you right now." Night said, trying to calm down his friend.

"You don't understand, it will never be the same!" Dave muttered.

Night was almost crying as well, but he held it in. Dave didn't know this, but he sacrificed a lot when he transformed. He gave up his love for flying his jet, any real human contact, and all of his human hobbies.

He knew he didn't have anywhere near the same sacrifice as Dave did, but he understood a little bit.

Night didn't say anything, just putting a wing over the weeping dragon, trying to comfort his friend.
