Episode XXIX (29): Revelations
The heroes knew what was coming. The truth about Mulan was about to be revealed. Once the army medic finished treating her wounds, he told Shang that his soldier was a woman.
Natius wanted to strike Chi Fu only to be stopped by Danyal who was holding him down with her talon as she warned in a cold tone, "Don't even bother! Rats may be one of the twelve animals in the zodiac, but it doesn't change the fact that rats are still considered a pest. In other words, they will kill you."
Natius knew the consequences he would face if he acted rashly.
And Mulan knew the fate she had brought upon herself. She admitted that she committed an act of treason, but the reason was to save her father. Nonetheless, the law stated that the sentence for high treason was death.
But Shang was not about to put her to death. Instead of beheading her, he threw her sword down at her knees. She saved his life. Now he was saving hers. Shang ordered his troops to move out, leaving Mulan and the heroes stranded on the mountain.
Danyal loosened her grip and she stated to Natius, "That was for your own good."
Mulan was monologuing about how she wanted to please and honor her family, but now she was at a loss.
Bianca looked below the mountain and she cried seeing the Huns bursting from the snow, "Looks like the Asian version of Walking Dead has kicked off!"
Zander looked down. "They're heading for the city!"
"We've got to change back," said Bianca. "We can only stop them in our true forms."
Mulan was confused. "What are you talking about?"
Natius smiled at her. "You're not the only one who's been playing a charade." He nodded at the kittens and used they used the magic powder to turn them into humans.
Mulan was amazed.
"We had to disguise ourselves for the same reason," Jeanette explained. "So, we wouldn't be put to death for defying tradition."
Natius stated, "We need to move and defeat Shan Yu."
Everyone agreed and began heading to the city.
In the city, the people were celebrating China's victory. Shang did not join in. He knew in his heart that Mulan was the real hero. He was also beginning to feel ashamed of himself for just leaving her.
Mulan and the others found him heading to the palace. "Shang!"
"Mulan?" He was surprised to see her. He was somewhat glad to see that she was all right, but still angry at her for deceiving him.
"The Huns are alive," she alerted him. "They're in the city."
But Shang turned her away. " You don't belong here, Mulan. Go home."
Mulan wouldn't give up. "Shang, my friends and I saw them in the mountains. You have to believe us."
"Why should I?" He didn't even notice the others.
Mulan blocked his way. "Why else would we come back? You said you trust Ping. Why is Mulan any different?" But Shang ignored her and kept moving.
"Now what?" Jeanette asked.
"We go to the palace and warn the emperor," Natius answered.
Danyal asked, "Are you sure he will believe us?"
Zander stated, "This isn't the right time to think that! Let's go!"
Natius looked at the palace and he noticed a red dragon was following behind Shang and he cried, "We've got ourselves a Trojan dragon! We need to burn it and expose the Huns!"
But they were too late. The Huns emerged from the dragon and seized the emperor and began taking him to Shan Yu. Shang and the others tried to pursue them, but the palace doors had been locked.
Natius snarled, "Damn!"
But Mulan had an idea on how to get inside the palace. She hurried and got disguises for their friends, making them look like royal servants and handmaids. Then they began climbing up the beams, reaching the balconies and upper levels.
Danyal muttered, "Let's end this terrorist."
Natius stopped himself from charging in hastily. He knew that if he and his friends got caught, then they wouldn't be able to rescue the emperor. He had to stick with the plan.
Mulan and the others came out of the hall, distracting the Huns who were guarding the door. Shan Yu's falcon was about to screech in alarm, but Mushu stopped him.
Having distracted the Huns long enough, the heroes began fighting them. "Shang! Natius!" Mulan cried. That was the signal. The two of them charged into the room and began fighting Shan Yu.
Shan Yu stated to Natius, "Grimhilde has told me a lot about you. She was just close to redeeming herself by bringing you to the castle in 2005, but a rat had to show up and interfere!"
Natius asked, "What?!"
Shang didn't understand what he was talking about, but he knew he had to protect Natius. At that moment, Mulan and the others arrived to help get the emperor to safety.
Natius commented taking out his dagger, "The penalty for attacking the emperor of China is death."
Shan Yu used his brute strength to attack Natius, causing him to lose his grip on the dagger. "I'll not have any interferences from you."
Mulan tossed her shoe at him and cried, "Leave him alone! I'm the one you want!" To show him what she means, she holds her hair in place with her hands.
Shan Yu recognized her appearance. "The soldier from the mountains," he growled. He began running after her, ready to kill her.
Natius was dropped and he got up to try and throw the dagger towards Shan Yu's leg in hopes to cripple the terroristic Hun, but he realized that this would backfire on him tremendously!
He sheathed his dagger. Right now, the best option seemed to be to lure the Hun into a trap. He hoped that that was what Mulan was trying to do.
Mulan began to lure Shan Yu to the roof of the palace.
They were now standing face-to-face. Mulan had nothing to defend herself with, but she had the Hun where she wanted him. Shan Yu was about to strike her, but she managed to swipe his sword and was now pointing it at him.
Mushu revealed a giant firework rocket and he cried, "Get ready for some fireworks!"
He ordered the cricket to light the fire and he began speeding towards Shan Yu and Mushu grabbed the hilt of Shan Yu's sword and Mulan got off the roof to avoid getting caught in the explosion!
Natius laughed triumphantly as the fireworks went off. "Even the Dark Masters can't save him from that!" he laughed.
Shan Yu prayed for the Dark Masters to save them, but only to be met with more fireworks that engulfed the Hun warlord in fire and explosions!
Everyone gathered together at the front entrance of the palace, laughing and cheering for their victory.
Natius commented, "Looks like the Dark Master lost their candidate!"
Chi Fu was outraged. "Where is she?" he demanded, referring to Mulan. "Now she's done it! What a mess! Stand aside," he ordered Shang.
The captain wouldn't turn her over. "She and her friends are heroes," he stated.
Chi Fu scoffed. "She's just a woman and they're just children. They'll never be worth anything."
Shang had enough of his attitude. He grabbed him and growled, "Listen, you pompous-"
"That is enough," the emperor said, coming down the steps.
Shang stated, "Your Majesty, I can explain."
The emperor silenced him, and he stated to Mulan, "I have heard a great deal about you, Mulan. You took your father's armor, ran away from home, impersonated a soldier, endangered the lives of thousands of men with that avalanche, deceived your commanding officer, destroyed my palace, and you have saved us all."
The emperor bowed before her as a sign of gratitude and respect, honoring her heroic deeds. At that instant, all of her friends and everyone in the city began bowing as well.
Natius muttered, "That makes her a war veteran and hero of her respective country."
The emperor called his counsel over. "Chi Fu, see to it that this woman is made a member of my council."
Chi Fu gave a short chuckle. "There are no council positions open, Your Majesty."
"Very well," the monarch replied. "You can have his job," he offered Mulan. Natius laughed at Chi Fu's reaction and saw him faint.
Mulan politely refused. "With all due respect, Your Excellency, I think I've been away from home long enough."
The emperor respected her response. He took his crest and placed it around her neck. "Take this, so your family will know what you have done for me." He also presented her with the sword of Shan Yu. "And this, so the world will know what you have done for China."
There were no words Mulan had to describe how honored she was. She wrapped her arms around the monarch, hugging him. He gave a soft chuckle.
Natius commented, "Thanks for saving me, I was going to return the favor by crippling the man, but I realized that would have backfired in a brutal fashion."
Mulan smiled at him. "I think you helped me more. You showed me what it means to be brave and to never give up." Suddenly, her hand began glowing, revealing a strange symbol.
It was a red stylized fireball! Natius took out the pallet.
"That's the symbol for the element of courage," he gasped.
Shang noticed a dark gold weight with the Chinese kanji for Discipline.
"They've awakened as warriors of their elements," Natius observed.
Natius asked Figaro, "Have I awakened as the warrior of Discipline?"
The kitten looked at him. "That depends. Did you learn your lesson?" When Natius didn't respond, Figaro asked, "Do you understand what it means to be disciplined?"
He did. "To be disciplined means keeping my emotions in check, meaning I can't control other people's behaviors; only my own. There are also certain situations beyond my control, and I have to think carefully."
Natius confessed, "I was almost tempted to cripple that terroristic demon, but I realized that it would've backfired, and he would've cut my throat in a brutal fashion."
"Way to think before acting," Bianca commented.
Natius gave a small grin. "Knowing what he was capable of and after the way he attacked me, I knew I couldn't just act rashly. I know that sometimes doing something dangerous sometimes means you're more careless than brave."
Zander stated, "That's the lesson that you should've learned in Snow White's world."
Natius asked, "What are you saying?"
"If you had learned that from the beginning, you would have avoided getting us in trouble through the journey," Zander stated.
Mahad stated, "He's got a point there."
"Well, it's not like any of you were any better than me," Natius argued, and he reminded his friends of their own stunts. He reminded them of how Mahad lashed out on Prince Achmed and how Bianca attacked Frollo like a wild animal. "I know they deserved what they got for their attitudes, but what you did doesn't make you better than me.
Bianca stated, "Good point."
Figaro smiled approvingly. "Well, Natius, I'd say you've learned what it means to be disciplined."
Natius asked, "Where do we go now?"
"You're leaving?" Mulan asked.
Natius nodded. "Our task here is done. But we have to keep looking for our teacher so we can all find a way home."
"Well, I wish you all the best," Mulan told them.
"We appreciate all your help," Shang said gratefully.
Natius smiled. "Who knows? One of these days, we might meet again."
Shang and Mulan liked the sound of that. Mulan decided it was time for her to go as well. She mounted on Khan and began the journey home. As Shang watched her off, he suddenly felt something for her. Shang had found Mulan's courage and determination admirable, but now he found he was developing feelings for her. Little did the captain realize that she had feelings for him too.
Natius began thinking about the time that his father would tell him that he had to read the Ballad of Mulan as an assignment and he stated, "I was hoping that she would comment to the emperor with this question. 'When a pair of rabbits run side by side, who can distinguish male from female?'"
Mahad asked, "Is that supposed to be a riddle?"
Natius answered, "No. That's how the ballad ended. It ended with that quote."
A small smile crossed Natius's face. He was starting to wish his father were here. He probably would have enjoyed this adventure. Then again, maybe not.
He instead looked to the kittens. "All right, guys. Where to?"
A portal appeared and a broom servant came out with a letter about Atlantica.
Danyal asked as she read the letter's content which regarded the Little Mermaid, "Has Master Yen Sid lost his marbles or is he picking the wrong time to tell us anything?"
Natius took the letter, and he began to read its content.
"He claims to have found another chosen child," he said. "One who represents light - one of the purest of the elements."
Figaro groaned at the sound of Atlantica. He was not looking forward to a journey to the fathoms below. The last time he went to the ocean with his master, they were swallowed by a whale named Monstro and they lived in his belly for days. When they finally got out, the whale was in a rage and almost killed them.
Figaro stated, "Hate to say this, but I'll be on the land to ensure that you don't invade the underwater kingdom. The last time I went out to sea, me Cleo and my master Gepetto were swallowed by a monstrous whale that makes Whamon look like a compassionate whale!"
Natius asked as he read the name Samara, "Samara Henderson? She's the candidate of that element?!"
Figaro answered, "Yes."
Danyal asked, "Are there other elements to awaken in Atlantica?"
Mahad stated, "We should find out for ourselves."
Shang stated to Natius, "Good luck in finding your teacher."
Natius began thinking about what Shan Yu told him about Grimhilde.
Figaro asked, "What's bothering you, rodent?"
Natius thought of a lie. "Well, you and Oliver won't be of much help, where we're going."
"We can't help that we don't like water," said Oliver. "We are felines, you know."
Zander knew something was wrong and he asked, "Shan Yu said something about you, didn't he?"
Natius asked, "How would you know?"
"Because if what you say is true about him and Grimhilde having a common enemy in you, then it makes sense he would," Zander answered.
Bianca asked, "What did he say to you?"
Natius kept trying to avoid the subject. "Nothing happened."
"Natius," Zander said sternly.
Natius confessed, "He said that she was close to redeeming herself by taking me to their castle."
Mahad asked, "Who?"
Natius answered, "Grimhilde."
Bianca asked, "What did he mean by that?"
"That could only mean Grimhilde's position as a Dark Master was already in a bad position," Mahad assumed.
Natius, "Why would her rank be threatened?"
"Maybe this was after she failed to obtain the dagger," Mahad figured.
Bianca asked Natius, "You were almost kidnapped?"
It was a memory Natius didn't want to remember. However, it was one he couldn't force himself to forget either.
Bianca asked, "Why do you not want to remember it?"
Natius explained the story of how he visited Redwood Forest with his parents, and he met an old woman who beckoned him to follow her. At that instant, a mouse with a keyblade began fighting her and told Natius to run.
His eyes suddenly widened. "Guys, I think that old woman was Grimhilde in disguise."
Bianca asked, "Did you see her face?"
Natius answered, "No."
"Then how do you know it was her?" Bianca asked.
"Because of what Shan Yu said earlier," he replied.
Natius answered, "Mickey told me that it was her. I didn't want to believe that at first until I felt a blast of dark magic."
"Grimhilde was not skilled in magic," said Mahad. "She brewed potions, but she wasn't a witch or a sorceress."
Natius asked, "Is it possible that Maleficent might have taught her a spell or two?"
Mana stated, "It's possible that Maleficent might have given her some assistance."
"Do you think it was Maleficent who attacked with magic?" Jeanette asked.
Mahad stated, "That's what I believe."
Natius added, "Before I was attacked, I heard Grimhilde screaming in anger. I don't get why she did that."
Danyal speculated, "I think she did that to give Maleficent the signal to strike."
Danyal asked, "Did you tell anyone else about it?"
Natius answered, "No. Strangely Grimhilde was wearing some gloves that had sparks on the tips of the finger."
Figaro stated, "Those are the same gloves that were taken from Elvira's paws."
Mahad asked, "Why didn't you tell your mother about it?"
Natius answered, "I thought that Grimhilde died with her name."
"What does that mean?" Mana asked.
"That means Grimhilde's name was never used again after her death," said Figaro.
Mana commented to Natius, "You should've told your mother about it, she has ties to Snow White."
Natius replied, "I thought that fiasco was a dream and didn't happen."
"It did happen a long time ago," Figaro admitted.
Bianca asked, "Did Grimhilde get in trouble for those gloves that she had on?"
Figaro answered, "I'm not sure, but I think Maleficent had a long conversation about the dangers of using those gloves and ordered her to seal them away."
After hearing about what the gloves could do, the heroes felt somewhat relieved that Maleficent was against using them.
Mana asked, "Why would Grimhilde try that?"
Figaro answered, "She thought that she would be able to pull what Cherubimon did to Koichi on a descendant of her stepdaughter."
"The risk of possible death didn't even matter to Grimhilde at the time," said Oliver.
Anakin stated, "You can feel pain and it would amplify the longer you remain in whatever world you're in."
Natius looked at Anakin. "Have you had any attacks like that?"
"You mean have there been times when I've felt unexpected surges of pain?" Anakin wondered. "Sometimes," he admitted. "And every time I have attacks like those, the pain gets worse, like I'm being ripped apart or my heart is being crushed."
Mahad commented to Anakin, "I bet that time the Beast hit you across the face felt-"
Anakin finished, "It felt like a bloody swipe from a grizzly bear. Maria told me that about there was a mysterious incision on the left eye that miraculously healed, and the vision was fortunately undamaged."
"Are you in any pain right now?" Nausicaä asked, concerned.
"Not right now," Anakin said truthfully. "I just never know what's going to hurt or when it will." He also questioned another concept. If he received injuries in these worlds, would his body back home develop the same bruises and wounds in the places where he was hurt?
The more haunting question was what if his father gets suspected of abusing him?
He knew this much: he had to reunite his soul and mind with his body before it would be too late. If his body kept experiencing pain unexpectedly and it would only amplify, then it would be like he was dying back home in his world.
Danyal asked, "What's bothering you?"
He confessed his troubled thoughts. "I'm worried that if the pain I'm experiencing here in these worlds is really amplifying the longer I'm here, then what if my body back home is dying?"
Figaro stated, "Don't worry, your father will not be facing criminal charges."
"That doesn't help my situation," Anakin snapped. "Didn't you hear what I just said? What if my body is slowly failing for every second I spend here in these worlds?"
"Take it easy," Oliver said, trying to calm him.
"How can you tell me to take it easy when I could be dying?" he asked, raising his voice. "I have to reunite my mind and soul with my body!"
Nausicaä agreed. She didn't want to lose Anakin.
Bianca placed her hand on Anakin's shoulder, and she stated to him in an apologetic tone, "I'm so sorry for those nasty comments that I made at Aurora's castle. Especially with what I said about you were being dramatic about what happened to your physical body."
Mahad agreed. "We didn't realize the seriousness of the state you were in."
Natius asked Figaro, "Why do you say that Anakin's dad would face charges?"
"Quite the opposite," Figaro corrected. "I said he would not face charges."
"But he could still be wrongly accused of doing physical damage, couldn't he?" Anakin asked. "Because if my body is being injured in the same places where I've been hurt during these adventures-,"
"Remember what Maria said?" Mahad interrupted. "The damage that was transferred to your body was mysteriously healed. Maybe some kind of protective enchantment was placed on your body after you were attacked by Elvira."
Bianca asked, "Who wants to bet that it was the Enchantress from Beast's Castle?"
Toboé and Vandela looked at each other. It would make sense because the castle was under her protection.
Anakin asked, "Why would she protect me? I have no ties to Adam."
"It doesn't matter," said Figaro. "Her spell was casted to protect the castle and everyone inside from the Dark Masters."
Mahad asked, "Is it possible that the Enchantress was informed of the case by Aeson."
"No, it was Master Yen Sid who was able to contact the Enchantress and inform her," the black kitten answered.
Bianca asked, "Would the Enchantress know clairvoyance?"
Figaro answered, "No. Master Yen Sid would be the one to know that ability."
Anakin asked, "Was he able to find my body?"
Figaro answered, "Yes."
Figaro added, "As soon as he found your body in the hospital that has dealt with similar cases like yours, he had you placed in a ward that only your family would visit. This is to ensure that no one outside your family especially the very man who killed your mother would be allowed to take the body."
Anakin asked, "How was he able to do that?"
Figaro answered, "Master Yen Sid has mysterious ways to find you."
Danyal asked Figaro, "How can you be certain?"
Figaro replied, "Yen Sid is a very powerful sorcerer. That night in Notre Dame, I asked Master Yen Sid about Anakin's case and to be honest, I can't even imagine being in that kid's shoes."
"But being a sorcerer, he shouldn't have been contacted within a church by means of magic," said Mahad.
"He wasn't," said Figaro. "He discreetly came to Notre Dame to drop of that potion. I was able to meet up with him before he had to leave."
Danyal asked, "Was he wearing a cloak?"
Figaro answered, "Yes."
Danyal asked, "How were you able to get the information in a short amount of time?"
Figaro answered, "I was following him down the stairs."
"How did he get past the soldiers guarding the doors to the church?" Jeanette asked.
"By convincing them that he was a church official who was returning after visiting a hospital," said Oliver.
Bianca asked Figaro, "So he told you about Anakin in a short amount of time?"
"More or less," the kitten admitted.
"How did Master Yen Sid handle the situation about Mokuba, Rebecca, and Leon being in Paris?" Natius asked, curious.
"He wasn't too upset about it," Oliver answered. "He was glad that they were safe even though they were in the home world of a Dark Master."
Another question came into mind. "Why didn't Frollo get any ideas about kidnapping them and bringing them to Maleficent?"
"He couldn't have even if he wanted to," said Figaro. "He didn't want to do anything to risk revealing to the hunchback that he was a Dark Master."
"You'd best be going," Oliver told the heroes. "Sorry you'll be on your own this time."
With that, the heroes began walking through a portal to the next world.
Zander asked, "Should we transform into animals that live underwater?"
Figaro replied, "Master Yen Sid mad sure this portal doubles as a transformation circle."
"Wouldn't it be better to transform into merpeople?" Jeanette suggested.
Natius stated, "Good idea."
As they all passed through the portal, the heroes found their legs transforming into fish tails of merpeople.
Meanwhile in the Henderson residence, Samara was trying to figure out why her Little Mermaid DVD would not work.
She tried to reset her DVD player itself, but it still wouldn't work.
Samara walked over to the kitchen to ask her father if he would know why her DVD wouldn't work, but she noticed a beautiful light from the front door.
Samara was hesitant to open the door fearful of what might happen.
Her parents told her not to leave the house unsupervised. She thought, maybe if she just opened the door, but didn't step outside, maybe it would be all right. She would tell her parents she was still in the house and was just curious. Maybe they would understand.
Samara walked into the light bathed portal, hoping to feed her curiosity.
The light felt warm and comforting. Samara suddenly heard a voice. "The time has come. Become the warrior of light."
"Warrior of light?" Samara asked.
Samara was presented to a new door that had a seashell as a symbol on the door.
She asked, "What is this?"
"This door will lead you to the world of your ancestors," the voice answered. "There you will be tested to be deemed worthy of the element of light."
Samara closed her eyes as she opened the door that would lead her to the world of her ancestors.
Within the Forbidden Castle, Turbo began laughing as he heard the news of Shan Yu's death!
Frollo asked, "Why couldn't we save him?"
Turbo stopped laughing. "He deserved what he got. He was going to kill Natius when we ordered him not to."
Jafar added, "Plus that firework would've killed you Frollo."
The minister looked at the sorcerer. "Are you saying you wouldn't have been willing to save me before that would happen?"
"I saved you once already from being banished to the Vault of Darkness," Jafar pointed out.
Frollo replied, "Good point. Where are those brats going to this time?"
"Rumor has it they're going to Atlantica," said Turbo.
"They're mortals," said Jafar. "They won't last a minute under the sea. They'll drown."
"Don't forget, they have the protection and assistance of Yen Sid," Maleficent added. "But that's not the best part."
"Oh, goodie," Jafar said sarcastically. "What's the best part?"
A sinister smile crossed Maleficent's face. "Rumor also has it that another chosen child has been destined to awaken. They say the element of light is dormant within her."
"One of the purest of elements," said Frollo bitterly.
Turbo ordered Skip the Penguin, "Get Ursula now!"
The penguin saluted and hurried to find the sea witch.
"Why so bitter?" Maleficent asked Frollo.
"It's beyond me," he was saying. "How can the most spiritually corrupted, the most unholy beings represent the purest of elements? There just has to be some mistake."
Maleficent raised her brow. "Any examples?"
"The magpie," he immediately replied. "A mentally unstable girl who represents faith. The flame brat, a troublesome delinquent who represents kindness. And the princess, an evil temptress said to represent love. They are not worthy of those elements."
"Don't forget the wolf boy who represents empathy," Jafar added.
"And the prissy, temperamental girl who represents dreams," Turbo added.
"Yes, them as well," said Frollo. "As I said, they are unworthy of those elements."
Honest John walked into the throne room, and he asked breaking up the council, "Who are you talking about that's unholy? Sorry if the question sounds stupid."
"He refers to the flame brat and his friends," Jafar clarified.
Skip ran into Ursula's chamber, and he cried, "Lady Ursula. The Dark Masters would like a word with you."
The sea witch smiled darkly. It was about time she was summoned. To her, this meant that the heroes were going to her world.
She came to the throne room. "You sent for me, Dark Masters?"
