Saphira was extremely curious as to what Bumblebee wanted to show her. The fact he had not told Mirage about it, did mean that it was quite a surprise. She tried to think on what exactly it could be. But she was having a lot of trouble imagining it, so she was definitely in for a surprise. She hoped that it would be good, because Bee's excitement made her feel excited. So she was definitely looking forward to it because of that. She was still trying to imagine what exactly it was that Bumblebee wanted to show her. It was a huge city, so there were many things that he could have found.
"So where exactly are you taking me, Bumblebee?" Saphira asked curiously as she looked out the window of the car. "Are you able to give me a hint? Or is it something that you genuinely want me to be surprised about? I am very curious."
Bumblebee chuckled before speaking through the radio. "If I gave a hint, it would be too much and you would know." She rolled her eyes in amusement. "All I can say it might be another place to hang out. I found it randomly while just rolling around in the city."
"I see…" Saphira guessed at least it was a building of some sort. And she wondered what kind of building. "That kind of gives me a hint already." Saphira glanced at the mirrors as she was half expecting to see Optimus following, but he was not. She sighed as her smile softened a little. "I must also admit that the more I learn about you guys, the more I feel sorry for you."
"Oh? Did the boss let in on some more secrets?" She nodded and moved her arm to rest it on the window as she stared out of it. "I see…well, we appreciate your sympathy for our situation. We have been through hell and more in the war, but we are still strong."
"I know. Life sucks…" Saphira stared out the window as she thought about it. "We have all been through our own form of hell. You've lost your world, and probably a lot of family, and you're stranded on an alien world." She let out a light chuckle and looked at the dash. "It's kind of weird to say that about my own world…but…it is true. And you also have met humans, and realized we aren't that good. Which is a good thing, since you aren't showing yourselves like they try to represent in some movies."
Bumblebee chuckled as he listened to her. "Yeah, life definitely sucks. But we have made a new friend! And I think that is still wonderful. He won't admit it, but you are growing on him." Saphira rolled her eyes at him as she did not believe him. "I'm serious!"
"Me? Growing on Optimus? That sounds ridiculous to me. Maybe to a point, I am, because he's been friendly with me for a while. And I have proven that I can be trusted. Of course, I still need to keep doing that. But…am I really?" Saphira did not know if she should believe that. "You guys know him better than me…so I guess…but that would still be a surprise."
Bumblebee was highly amused as he could fully understand why Saphira would think that way. "He practically raised me from when I was very young. So I know him very well." She raised an eyebrow as that made her curious. "And you are growing on him. He just isn't the type of person who would show that kind of feeling easily. You already know how stoic he is, so it is not completely unreasonable to think that he would hide that fact."
"Yeah, I got that. But that still seems to be strange to me." Saphira glanced out the window and as they drive by a street, she was looking down the street and she saw a bus driving by at the other end. She didn't think much of it, even though it would be a coincidence if it happened to be Transit. "Though…is it considered a good thing? I only ask because Optimus is apprehensive about humans, and now you are telling me that I have been growing on him, so I am not sure if that is considered good to you."
"To me it is, because it means he can learn that not all humans are bad. I had a friend. She helped me a lot, and made me learn that not all humans are bad. But I experienced good, Optimus has only just met a human who he can learn from. It is not bad at all. It is good." Saphira smiled as she thought that was sweet of Bumblebee to think that. "To be honest, you were growing on him weeks ago. He only admitted to trusting you recently, but it has been weeks. I can tell, because I have been around him longer than the others have."
"Right…" Saphira had a hard time believing that, but given that the autobots knew Optimus better than her, she decided she would believe him. "Well, I guess that is good to know." She knew that Optimus probably could hear what was being said with the device she had to keep with her, but he was not saying anything. "All of you guys have been growing on me too. Especially you and Mirage. It is like I stumbled into a family, and I realize that this is the kind of family I want to stay with."
"You got that right. I am glad that you found us, even if it was not intentional, since Mirage let you buy him." Saphira could not help but feel that line sounded weird, but she let that slide. "But it was a good thing. I am sure you would be worse off now if we were not in the picture. A brave soul likes you deserves to be around other brave souls."
Saphira didn't think she was as brave as them, but she was happy he felt that way. "And now you are potentially going to show me some kind of building. A place to hang out…" Saphira looked ahead as she saw he was driving to a different suburb. "Huh…I don't even know what suburb you are taking me to. This looks like a place where wealthy people would live. Nothing that I could own…are you sure that you found some place for us?"
"I sure did!" Bee responded confidently. "You just have to wait and see for yourself!" Saphira was still uncertain as she did not believe that. But he made a right turn, and it was not in the direction of the wealthy suburb. "And don't worry, we aren't going to that neighbourhood. This place isn't among those houses."
Saphira was relieved as she thought it would be the strangest place for wherever this building is. She didn't even know what it looked like yet. She assumed it was some other factory Bee had found randomly. But Bee was clearly excited about it, so if it was a random factory, then he wouldn't have been this excited. So Saphira was assuming that whatever he had found was different. She was quite curious in knowing how different it would be. She guessed it could be a house…it would have to be a mansion or some kind of an apartment building to work.
And to her surprise, Bee turned through an open gate leading up to a large mansion. She could not help but chuckle. This mansion was large, and it also had a massive garage that was built in the center of the building. It was an odd design choice, but it appeared to be abandoned, and there was space for them. Saphira looked at the overgrown gardens, a large fountain that was covered in plants and she could see that the mansion itself has been vandalized.
Saphira could not help but wonder how the hell Bee even found this place. It would have had to have been by accident. There was no other way to think of it. Saphira was amused as Bumblebee approached the building and she couldn't believe that Bumblebee even found a place like this. Especially since this building looked like it had been abandoned for years. She wasn't sure how to feel about this.
"So? What do you think?" Bumblebee asked as he rolled towards the open garage. It was big enough to fit a truck through, so Optimus could definitely drive inside. "There's a lot of space here."
"I think you're crazy, if I am honest," Saphira said honestly with a light chuckle. "How the hell did you find this place? Did you just happen to drive by and realize what you found before reversing and taking a closer look?"
Bumblebee chuckled softly. "That's precisely what happened. You figured it out."
She shook her head in amusement as she stared at the building. "But seriously, Bee? A mansion? A fricking, abandoned, mansion? You do know people probably squat here a lot, don't you?" Saphira was not sure if she should be nervous about this or not. "There's a lot of evidence from the outside to suggest that. I'd rather just stick with the factory and warehouse we have been hiding in."
"Well, I scanned the whole building and there is no one here," Bumblebee responded nonchalantly. "It is fine, Saphira. If random people do show up, we will just leave and give them the space for the mansion. I figured you wouldn't mind coming here every now and then. It does not have to be every day." Saphira was still unsure as Bumblebee rolled into the garage. It was a massive space. Whoever used to own this mansion clearly loved cars. "I think this place will be awesome to hangout in."
Saphira already could tell who ever lived in this mansion was also wealthy, based upon the walls and the tiles that Bumblebee was driving along. "I suppose I could pretend to be a millionaire for a short time while here, but I still think it's not a good idea. I appreciate that you wanted to try and suggest something, but this is not something that we should consider. Especially if squatters come back, which I am sure they do. And a lot of illegal stuff could happen as well."
"I suppose you are right. Nothing wrong with checking it out though." Bumblebee came to a stop and Saphira was reluctant to get out. "I promise there are no squatters here right now, Saphira. I scanned the whole building. You will be safe."
Saphira figured looking around would not hurt. If he did scan the building and there really was no sign of anyone here, then she was fine. She just hoped it would stay that way. But it was a massive building. It probably had ten bedrooms at least, and it had two floors two. She probably won't explore the second floor, but she could definitely walk around on the ground floor and she would be completely fine with that.
Saphira sighed as she opened the door and stepped out. "If you say do, Bee." Saphira made sure to have the tracker with her before she stepped away from the camaro. "I will totally not let you forget if there is someone here, Bumblebee." He transformed suddenly and looked at her with his hands on his hips. "Hey, you are the one who can scan the building and know when something is here. I just hope that it works, because I will be very mad at you."
Bumblebee just shrugged in amusement at her. "I am hurt that you don't trust me. But I fully understand. Just don't get angry at me if it just happens to be a mouse or a spider in the building. They won't count as a squatter."
Saphira chuckled at him as she walked away from him. "I am not going to do that, Bumblebee. If it is just a mouse, I am not going to freak out over it, don't worry. And spiders would not be in this mansion. It would be way too cold." Saphira looked towards a set of large doors that were slightly open and figured to start there. "Though to be honest, this would be better if..." Saphira paused and turned when she heard the loud rev of an engine. She looked to the door they came through before looking to the other side, as the garage went to the other side, and she gasped. "Look out, Bumblebee!"
Bumblebee had heard the engine before, but now he was alarmed by a bus speeding towards him a high speed. He braced himself before the bus slammed into him. Saphira stared in horror as Bee was pushed, his feet dug into the tiles of the garage and broke them as he was pushed along and slammed into the wall. Saphira felt the mansion shake, making her cover her head with her heads for a moment before jumping as a ceiling panel slammed on the ground beside her.
"Run, Saphira!" Bumblebee shouts from his radio as he was trying to push the bus away. "Alert them!"
Saphira nodded and considered running further into the mansion, but she watched as the bus reversed and rammed into Bee again before it started to transform, and she felt the building shaking, she knew it was unsafe to run further into the building. She turned and ran towards the opposite garage door, glancing back just to see the decepticon completing his transformation and she shivered as she knew who it was.
She held the keys up as she ran. "Optimus! I hope you heard that! Transit is here! He has Bumblebee pinned, can you get here quickly?!" She shrieked as she heard a sound of blaster fire behind her and the impact of the blasts hitting the walls and hearing the roof crumbling. "Damn!"
"We are on our way, Saphira," Optimus responded affirmatively to Saphira. "We are nearing your location. Make sure you run from Transit, Saphira. Transit is not to be taken lightly, but Bumblebee will hold him off as long as he can."
"Got it!" Saphira ran out of the door and realized how big the property was. The gates on both ends of the property were not close to the garage doors. It appeared this property was at least an acre, and it was a large property. Saphira glanced over her shoulder and shrieked as she heard more blasts from inside the house. "Damnit!" She ducked as she saw debris flying it and it almost hit her. "This was a bad idea."
Saphira ran towards the gate as fast as she could. She knew that Transit could easily reach her before she reached the gate if he chose to. But she wasn't about to let herself get caught too easily. At least it seemed Bumblebee was managed to keep Transit busy long enough for her to get far. And she hoped that Optimus would be there very soon. If not him, then she was hoping for Arcee and Mirage as well. She knew they were faster.
As she reached the gate, she stopped and turned as she heard a loud sound. She gasped as she watched the middle of the mansion collapse in on itself. She stared in horror knowing that Bumblebee was underneath. She did not know how durable the autobots were, but that didn't matter. She almost wanted to run back to try and help, but as the dust covered the destruction of the mansion, she saw headlights shining through the dust and gasped as she saw the bus speeding towards her.
He's after me!
Saphira ran out of the gate and made a left to run along the fence line as fast as possible. She ran across the road after a minute as she spotted an alleyway, and it looked to be too skinny for Transit to fit through. She made it to the other side and glanced over her shoulder. She could not see him yet, and she hoped to be out of his sight. She reached the alley and ran into it and stopped by the corner, crouching down carefully to see where he would go.
Transit sped out of the gate, turning left to follow her direction. She remained crouched for the moment as she watched the bus. She was hoping he would just drive by, and she would be able to run back to the destroyed mansion. She watched as the bus approached, and just as she thought it was just going to drive by, it turned towards her. Saphira shrieked and stood back up to run down the alley, surprised that the bus was able to fit down the alleyway.
She thought about trying to slow him down, but she doubted anything in the alley would stop him. And she knew running wasn't really going to matter, but she would run anyway. And it didn't take her long to realize he wasn't trying to catch up to her. It was as if he was taunting her. She turned right as she found a skinnier alley and smirked to herself, knowing he could not follow her down here. She glanced over her shoulder to see the bus driving by the alley, and speeding up. She was relieved as she kept running through the alley.
She did worry about him using his holoform though. Though the only reason she knew he wouldn't, is because she was told that their holoforms were pretty much smaller, copies of their full forms. It was just a system that they had that allowed them to get into small spaces and retrieve things that they couldn't do normally. But as their holoforms were about the same size as humans, Saphira knew that Transit could use the same system. But he wasn't just yet.
She reached the end to find herself on the street, making her sigh in relief. She considered running back to the mansion, but it might not be a good idea. She glanced around to see if there was a bus, but she saw there was not and she ran across the road to the opposite alley. She did not see any bus driving by, and she hoped that Transit does not find her. She ran between the two buildings and she see that the alley could be large enough for a bus. She did not think he would come down here.
She looked around and spotted a rusty, old, red beetle with not tyres sitting by a wooden, fence. She walked over to it and climbed into it, hoping that it would provide cover for her. She sat in the car, looking around nervously and hoping that Transit would not find her. She took deep breaths to calm her racing heart. She hoped that Bumblebee was okay as well, as she knew he would have been under the rubble of the mansion.
She lifts the key to speak to the autobots. "Optimus, I think I lost Transit. I am hiding inside a red, beaten up, beetle in an alley. I am sure you will find me soon. But Bumblebee brought me to a mansion and, um, he and Transit managed to cause it to collapse." She was very worried. "Bee, can you hear me?"
"Bumblebee's signal is still strong," Arcee spoke reassuringly. "He might have been knocked out by Transit. I am five blocks from your position, Saphira. Stay where you are. We don't have a lock on Transit's signal, so your best defence is remaining hidden."
"How the hell did Transit even find them?" Mirage asked bluntly. "It is like he showed up out of no where! Was he following you guys, by any chance?"
"I…I don't know." Saphira knew she had seen a bus before they got to the mansion, but she didn't think much of it. "I saw a bus briefly, but it was in a different street than us. I didn't know if it was him or not…but we did not do anything to provoke him."
"Decepticons do not need provoking to attack, Saphira," Optimus said in a calm, reassuring tone. "Transit likely had noticed Bumblebee near his location, saw he was alone with you and took the opportunity. And it seems clear, since Bumblebee was left alone after being attacked, he is after you. So stay in your position until Arcee reaches you. She will be able to outrun Transit easily."
Saphira's nodded as she looked around nervously. This was the first time she has encountered a decepticon, so she was definitely scared. Especially based upon all the stories she had heard so far. She didn't want to mess around with them. She hoped Arcee was not far, even though she said she was only a few blocks away from her. That still gave Transit time to do something, and Saphira knew it.
As she sat in the old wagon, she heard the sound of a bus nearby and it stopped, with the air brakes hissing as it stopped. Saphira shivered as it was very close. She did not want to get out to look, as she knew that would be a very bad idea. Saphira's heart was racing and she was tense. Despite how cold it was, she was sweating from how nervous she was. She looked around nervously, not seeing anyone.
That is until a shadow formed over the car and she covered her mouth with her hands. She stared at the shadow before she heard the sound of something jumping and it landed right in front of the car, making her shriek loudly in surprise. She gasped and stared as she saw the decepticon for the first time. A white decepticon with the bus decals over his body. His face was unlike the autobots. It was round with four red optics, and a mouth that was almost like an insect, but Saphira could not really tell. He was definitely more beastly than the autobots in appearance.
"Finally..." The decepticon grabbed the roof of the car and ripped it off, making her scream fearfully and scramble to the back of the car. "My, my..." He leaned down with a devious grin. "You are a pretty, little, thing. I have been insanely curious to know who you were ever since I saw you and Bumblebee hanging out. Now I see why they keep you around." Transit chuckled as he lowered his hand, making her grimace and yelp as she felt his fingers grab her cheeks, making her worried that he was going to squeeze. "I never thought Optimus would let his guard down so easily like this. How about you and I drive around the city together? Let's see how much they truly care about you..."
Saphira shook her heard fearfully with wide eyes. "No, no! Please, no!"
Transit chuckled as he wrapped his hand around her body and lifts her from the car. He watched as the girl squirmed in his hand, and he knew she was not going to be able to get out of his grip at all. It was amusing to him. "I was very happy that Bumblebee decided to bring you to this side of town. I had been waiting for an opportunity. But now we shall go for a ride. It will be interesting to see how long it will take for them to find you…"
Saphira shook her head and Transit turned, and she feared he was going to transform. He was about to when they both heard a loud rev of a motorcycle, and Saphira saw the red bike turning sharply into the alley and speeding towards Transit before jumping and slamming the decepticon in the face. Transit roared in shock as he stumbled back from Arcee, causing him to throw up his hand and let Saphira go. Saphira gasped as she was thrown up in the air, and she almost screamed as she began to fall back towards the ground.
Arcee turned sharply and transformed before jumping and catching Saphira in the air. Arcee lands on the ground as the girl trembled in shock of what happened. "Are you okay?" The femme asked the girl as she looked over the girl's body. "I see no sign of damage."
Saphira turned her head and she saw Transit standing up quickly. "Uh, I won't be okay if you don't get me out of here!" Saphira exclaimed fearfully, and Arcee glanced over her shoulder. "Come on! We need to go!"
Arcee turned her right arm into a blaster and shot at Transit several times, hitting his right optics successfully, making him stumble back before she transformed. Saphira shrieked as her body was shifted around roughly until she was sitting on the bike. Saphira kept a tight grip of the handles as Arcee sped out of the alley, leaving Transit to deal with his injuries she had inflicted upon him. Arcee may not have been a match for Transit, though Saphira did not know. But they Saphira did not know if any other human had seen that. That was extremely close if that was the case.
Saphira trembled as she stared at the handles in front of her. Her heart was racing and she was worried about Bumblebee. She worried that Transit would follow them, but she did not see him in the side view mirrors. She hoped that he would back away, and that Optimus would find him soon She did not want to go through that again. It was horrible. She swallowed nervously, and Arcee came to a stop at a set of red lights.
She was still trembling as she waited for the lights to turn green. "You did the right thing by hiding, Saphira. Transit seems to know this city rather well, and he must have made a really good guess as to where you were hiding." Saphira did not respond, she just stared at the lights as she waited for them to turn green. "Though it would seem we need to tighten our guard of you. Especially since it seems that Transit definitely intends on using you as a hostage for his own advantage."
Saphira was not surprised by that. She expected it. "I…I-I certainly…um…w-w-was not expecting that today. I w-w-would have expected to f-f-find another person in th-that old mansion. Not a decepticon." She sniffled a little and Arcee rolled forward as the lights turned green. "Is Bee okay?"
"Bumblebee is fine. Just a few dents and scratches," Mirage spoke through the com link confidently. "He was knocked out by Transit before the mansion collapsed on him. He's fine, Saphira. We'll meet you and Arcee at the wharf."
"O-Okay…"
"Hey, you did good, Saphira. You were very brave." She rolled her eyes a little at Mirage's attempt at encouragement as she didn't feel like she had been brave. She felt like she did what was necessary. "Now we know why Transit has been in the shadows. He was waiting for an opportunity. Now we won't let that happen again."
"Unfortunately, Mirage, that could mean that Transit could become more brazen in his actions," Optimus spoke gently through the com link. "He clearly had no trouble transforming at the risk of being exposed, so that means he could definitely do something else to try and get to Saphira. He is right to see her as our liability."
She frowned as Optimus called her a liability again. "Saphira, don't take that negatively. In the eyes of a decepticon, that is true. But you aren't a liability in my eyes," Arcee reassured the girl gently as she observed Saphira's reaction. "And I don't believe Optimus believes that anymore, either."
"She is correct, Saphira. I don't see you as a liability. Maybe I did once, but I have learned you are not. In a sense, you did help us find Transit." She smiled a little as that was true. "Now that Transit has changed the rules in this game, I ensure to follow along." Saphira did not know what Optimus meant by that, but she didn't care. "We now have to keep a closer eye on the different buses roaming the city. Just in case he uses holograms, and not allow himself to be driven by humans."
That seemed like a reasonable idea. But Saphira did not care. She wanted to take the time to calm down. She wanted to see Bumblebee. She wanted to know if he was truly okay. She did not see what exactly happened when she had turned and run from them, so she was worried that Mirage was only telling her a light version of how Bumblebee was. Saphira looked over her shoulder, though she did not see any bus behind them. She was able to relax a bit, but every bus that Arcee drove by, Saphira could not help but be suspicious. She was terrified of that happening again. Or something worse happening.
