Chapter 2: First Day

Twinstar Dragon: More of this please.
ThermalsniperN7: Here you go.
Dragon Emperor0: It's kinda disheartening that yours is the only review since posting this story. But I'm not about to complain about getting a new and loyal reader who likes our story, so I think I'll just thank you for reading and hope you'll enjoy yourself.
-Bayek's Apartment-
It was finally time for the first real day of school, and Bayek honestly had no clue what to expect from his class. He honestly hoped they weren't idiots or anything, but given how people could be in general, he thought those hopes were in vain.
'If it's like any other school, everyone's gonna either be really quiet or really loud.' He mused as he got ready for the day.
Deciding to shelf this minor anxiety for the time being, he stepped outside his apartment and locked up so he could get to school on time, his satchel slung over his shoulder.
"Oh hey, Bayek, glad to see that I got you as you're heading out." Kendo noted as she too stepped outside her apartment.
"Oh, hi Kendo. Nice to know that I won't be walking to school alone." The avatar of Anubis smiled slightly. He looked over to the stairs leading to the top level, but didn't see Izuku anywhere. "Huh, guess he must've gone before me." He hummed.
"Who?" The ginger questioned.
"Just a friend of mine, Izuku Midoriya. He lives upstairs." He replied.
"Oh him." Kendo nodded. "Yeah he left half an hour ago with two other girls." She nodded.
"Two?" Bayek blinked.
"One of them had brown hair and the other had ash blonde hair." The gingerette recalled. "I think I remember the second one from the entrance exam. Himiko Toga, I think her name was." She hummed.
"Well, at least he's making new friends." Bayek nodded.
"You know him?" Kendo asked as they left the complex and started heading to the train station.
"I've known him since we were kids, and made it a point to talk to him whenever I was visiting my grandparents here in Japan." Bayek explained.
"Think you'll be in the same class together?" The girl wondered as they walked.
"No idea. I'm hopeful that we will be, but I won't hold my breath." The boy nodded as they got onto a train to UA.
(Later)
"Oh, I almost forgot." Kendo nodded as she handed something to Bayek. "Setsuna wanted me to give you her number, she forgot to give it to you last time you talked to her." She told him, handing the boy a piece of paper.
"Oh. Well, at least we'll be able to keep in touch." The boy shrugged.
It was around this time that they began to near their classroom where Izuku was standing outside one marked Class 1-A.
"Hey, Izuku!" He called, getting his attention.
"Oh, Bayek." The viridian haired boy blinked.
"So, you're in Class 1-A huh?" The boy noted. "… Wait, how did you get past the practical? I thought you were…?" He continued.
He was about to say quirkless but stopped when Izuku's face turned nervous.
"I got a bunch of rescue points. About sixty." The boy explained.
"Well, here's hoping that nothing…. Wait, no. Not gonna finish that." Bayek started to say before stopping himself. No need to invoke Murphy.
"Come on, we gotta get to our classroom." Kendo told him, pointing at the classroom next door.
"Wait, so we actually aren't in the same class?" Izuku blinked, looking a little bummed out.
"We can still chat after school." The Egyptian boy offered.
"Oh, okay." The boy nodded as the two walked away, opening his own class door, and Bayek caught glimpses of two girls, one with pink cheeks and the other with her hair in two messy buns happily greeting him.
Glad to see that his friend was okay, the Egyptian entered his own classroom…
"Ha ha ha ha! I'm the king of this class!" An obnoxious sounding blond boy with gray-blue looking eyes exclaimed, causing Bayek to facepalm in exasperation.
"Just my luck…" He groaned.
"Yo!" A familiar voice said as Setsuna came and leaned on the boy's shoulder, arm around him. "You miss me?" She grinned.
"Well, at least this class feels more bearable now." The boy chuckled a bit.
"Yeah, I know the feeling." The verdette nodded in understanding. She had to put up with her fair share of loud bunches.
"You new here too, to Japan I mean?" One of the kids, one with blonde hair, horns and horselike legs asked.
"Yeah, I'm actually originally from Egypt." The boy nodded as he sat down next to her, with Kendo on his right and Setsuna behind him.
"Egyptian? Ha!" The same obnoxious voice that grated on Bayek's nerves laughed. "You're speaking Japanese incorrectly. I can help fix that." He added, making a fake offer.
"Two members of my family live in Japan, so I learned the language from them." The Avatar quirk user shot back. "I've also practiced back in Egypt, so shut up." He added, proving that he knew Japanese well.
Not that he needed to prove it. He was speaking it, after all.
"Don't mind him." Setsuna told him. "That's Neito Monoma, we've only known him a couple hours, and he's already proving to be a pain in the ass." She added.
"I can tell." Bayek nodded blankly. He felt like he was going to have to reign in a lot of rowdy people in this class.
The group didn't have to wait long for their teacher to come through the door, thankfully, as a man with a near bodybuilder-like physique came into the room. He had gray hair and red eyes and his costume made him very recognizable to Bayek, as Himiko had a pin of him.
"Is that Vlad King?" He questioned, leaning towards the girl beside him.
"Yeah. He's great with his blood quirk." She replied with a nod.
"Huh." The boy hummed as he leaned back. "Then if he's teaching this class, who's teaching 1-A?" He pondered, crossing his arms.
Shrugging, he decided it wasn't anyone bad.
"Hello, class. I am Sekijiro Kan, or as you may know me as Vlad King." The man told them. "I'll be your homeroom teacher this year." He continued as he took a clipboard. "Alright, first we'll do a quick roll call, then we'll head to orientation. So respond when I call your name." He told them as he began calling names.
(Later)
After roll call, the kids then went to orientation. Bayek was quick to memorize the names of his classmates and commit their faces to memory to avoid any embarrassment.
So far, he'd managed to hit it off with a few of his classmates. Those being the girl beside him, Poni, the boy in front of him, Kuroiro, and a boy who sat across from Setsuna, Tetsutesu Tetsutetsu.
That was the weirdest name he'd ever heard, but he didn't judge.
He also caught sight of a Greek boy in his class. He had brown hair that reached his shoulders that he had done in braids, brown eyes, and a scar on the right side of his face. He had the boys' UA uniform, but he could see a Greek drachma coin necklace around the boy's neck.
Alexios Damocles, was the name Vlad King called him by.
The boy was apparently from the Peloponnese, specifically Laconia, home of the Spartans and according to some things he heard, he had a familiar power set.
Bayek was more than content with playing the waiting game so he could find out, though.
(Later)
After orientation was done, Vlad led the class out to a field for a quirk assessment test. Bayek wasn't surprised, since this kind of setup happened back in Egypt, depending on the school. One school that came to mind was Alexandria High, Egypt's most famous hero school.
"To demonstrate what criteria I'll be looking at in these tests, I'd like one of you to give a demonstration." The blood hero explained, holding up a ball. "Damocles, what was your farthest throw with a softball in middle school?" He questioned.
"Around seventy eight meters." The Greek transfer student replied.
"Try throwing it again, but with your quirk this time." Vlad instructed, handing him a softball. "You can do whatever you want, just don't leave the circle." He added.
"You asked for it." Alexios shrugged before he closed his eyes.
Then an aura of fire surrounded him as he let out an angry roar before throwing the ball hard enough to cause a small shockwave. Everyone felt their hair get blown back slightly from it, too.
"Spartan Rage." Bayek uttered. "Dude's got the same powers of Kratos." He added.
"I noticed that, too." Poni nodded in amazement.
"We'll be taking several tests in order to gauge how to handle your training from here on out. No need to get anxious, just do your best and I'll grade you accordingly." The blood hero replied.
"Hm, sounds a bit similar to how hero schools in Egypt work." Bayek hummed.
"Now, let's begin." Sekijiro nodded.
-50 Meter Dash-
The first test was the 50 meter dash, a pretty simple test all things considered.
It wouldn't surprise Bayek in the least if anyone had speed oriented quirks. Still, he was a decent runner himself. His father made sure of that.
"No hard feelings when I outrun you." The Egyptian quipped as he got ready to race Alexios.
"Right back at you." The Greek boy chuckled in reply.
The two started running towards the end, with both of them running at the same time, and were neck and neck the whole time even without quirks.
That surprised Bayek, since it seemed that Alexios was as fit as an Olympic athlete.
Their finish time was the same too, which was 7.24 seconds.
"Heh, didn't expect you to keep up." Alexios remarked as he caught his breath.
"Don't kid yourself." Bayek grinned with an eye roll.
-Long Jump-
Next was the long jump, and similar to before, Bayek couldn't use his quirk in this test, but Alexios could, leaping a considerable distance.
Bayek himself was able to clear roughly two to four tenths of the jump on his own.
-Grip Test-
Bayek was able to use his quirk on a small scale for this one. Specifically, he could use his gauze wrappings in a manner not unlike a boa constrictor's coils.
This gave him a 540 kg score, same as Alexios who used his own quirk.
"Are those gauze wrappings?" Poni blinked, glancing at Bayek.
"I think so." Kuroiro blinked as well.
-Repeated Side Steps-
In this test, no one really did incredibly well. But Setsuna ended up getting the best score overall with Bayek being second due to him using his scales to tilt the field to slide side to side.
"Okay, what the hell?!" Alexios yelped as the field tilted.
"This feels so bizarre!" Monoma exclaimed as he tried to stop himself from falling over.
'Hm… My students definitely have a lot of decent powers, some more than most.' Sekijiro mused mentally.
-Soft ball throw-
"Alright, Yugi, you're up first." Vlad King said as everyone gathered around.
"You asked for it." The Egyptian boy shrugged as he went and stood in the circle. Then he focused on what he felt when he conjured his Anubis construct in initiation. Sure enough, he started to become surrounded by his usual black and gold energy before…
BOOM!
"RAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGHHHHH!" The Jackal God roared as it rose up, the class being forced to crane their heads back and look up at him in shock.
"Holy crap, it's bigger than I thought it would be!" Setsuna yelled as her jaw fell to the ground.
Literally.
"You think?!" Itsuka questioned, her mouth agape.
Ignoring the chatter, Bayek made the construct's right arm rear back before it threw the ball, and when it flew, the shockwave it produced was almost akin to a battleship cannon firing. They barely caught a glimpse of the ball as it flew through the air.
"…" Vlad nodded as he looked at the score and held it up, showing an infinity symbol on it.
"INFINITY?!" Everyone yelled in disbelief.
"I think it's safe to say that Yugi has taken his place as the class's strongest." The blood hero remarked as Bayek's construct disappeared, the boy swaying a bit before he caught himself. "You okay, Yugi?" He asked, spotting his student's swaying.
"Yeah. Using that avatar is a bit taxing since it's still a new ability. I'm wiped just from doing what I did." Bayek breathed in reply as he fell on his ass, holding his head. "Not as bad as when I got it back in the practical, though." He added.
"… God that was hot as hell." Setsuna whispered.
"You gonna be okay?" Alexios asked as he helped the Egyptian boy up.
"Yeah. I think I'll be back in shape by the next test at least." Bayek nodded in reply as he joined the others.
"Alright, let's get this done and continue with the rest of the tests." Their teacher told them.
(Later)
After the tests were done, school was done for the day. Soon enough, Bayek and Itsuka were walking home and much to the former's luck, they caught sight of Izuku in their path.
"Hey Izuku!" He called. "Sorry Kendo, I was hoping to catch up with my friend after school, see you later?" He suggested.
"No worries. Go ahead." The ginger nodded, allowing Bayek to catch up with the green haired boy.
"Huh? Oh, Bayek!" Izuku uttered before registering that his Egyptian friend was calling out to him.
"You heading back home? I was hoping we could catch up." The Egyptian boy said.
"Sure. I actually have a lot to talk about, anyway, and if you wanna come to my place, my mom would be happy to see you again." Izuku nodded in reply.
"Sure. Haven't seen Inko since I got to Japan, anyway." Bayek shrugged as the two walked.
(Later)
It was a few minutes later and now Bayek and Izuku were in the boy's house.
"So, you're still a massive All Might fan, right?" Bayek asked.
"Oh he is! Just look at his room for proof!" Inko called from the kitchen as she got some drinks ready.
"... What she said." Izuku sighed, not even bothering to deny it.
"I honestly thought you would've grown out of that by now." The Egyptian boy remarked. "But I guess some things aren't too easily broken." he mused.
"Yeah…" Izuku nodded as Inko left the room.
"Well I saw him after the entrance exam. Only he seemed… thinner than I remember." Bayek nodded.
'Did he somehow figure it out?!' Izuku thought before he cooled his nerves. 'Wait, this is Bayek. If he did, then he'll likely keep it to himself.' He continued.
"I may have some kind of idea on what's up, but I'm not totally sure about it." The 'Avatar' of Anubis continued.
"I… Do, actually." The green haired replied.
"What's up?" Bayek questioned with a raised eyebrow.
"He has an injury that he's only just starting to recover from—after a stomach transplant." Izuku explained.
"How old is the injury?" The Egyptian boy asked. 'So it's like I figured. Keeping a low profile is a must for him right now.' He thought.
"Five years. And now he's looking… or was looking for a successor." The boy replied.
"Successor?" Bayek parroted with a blink.
"It's hard to explain…" Izuku trailed off nervously.
"What, did he pick you?" The Egyptian questioned.
"Pretty much." The viridian haired boy nodded in reply with a small chuckle.
"… Wait." Bayek uttered. "Is that how you passed the practical?" He questioned.
"Pretty much, and me getting into UA is proof that it paid off." Izuku nodded in reply.
"And I'm still proud of you, sweetie." Inko smiled as she put two glasses of orange juice on the coffee table.
"So how did your first day go?" His friend asked.
"My teacher hazed me." Izuku replied bluntly.
"... So it's one of those teachers, huh?" Bayek deadpanned. "Lovely." He added, still deadpanning.
"He had us take a quirk assessment test instead of going to orientation." The boy replied.
"You guys too, huh? That explains why Class A wasn't in the auditorium." Bayek nodded.
"Yeah, and I was able to do decently." The viridian haired boy stated. "Turns out I'm an apparent late bloomer." He added.
"Huh. Interesting." The Egyptian nodded. "Make any new friends?" He asked.
"Yeah actually." Izuku nodded before he started listing off his new friends, Bayek listening the whole time.
(Later)
The son of the former Egyptian Number one eventually left his friend's apartment to go to his own, and went inside to relax after a long day at school.
As he got himself something to drink, his phone buzzed on his kitchen counter.
Looking, he saw it was Setsuna seeing as he gave her his number a bit after class ended.
"Hey big guy, how you feeling?" The girl smiled.
"Pretty good. Using the Anubis construct felt like the ultimate flex." Bayek chuckled in reply.
"Why'd you use that for something so simple, anyway?" The verdette wondered in confusion.
"Because I wanted to test its capabilities. I've done that with the other powers of my quirk as they appeared." The boy explained. "But with how restrictive Japan is with quirk usage, I'm being forced to take every chance I get for training with it." He continued.
"I see…" The lizard gal hummed. "Hey, are you doing anything this weekend?" She asked.
"Not really. Why? Thinking about a hangout?" Anubis' 'Avatar' asked in reply.
"I was thinking more like a date." The girl replied.
"Whoa, that's a bit sudden." Bayek blinked in surprise.
"What, you never got asked out by a girl before?" She asked.
"I have. Otherwise I wouldn't have dated my ex." The jackal themed boy rebuked. "It's just been awhile." He amended.
"... I'll ask about that some other time" Setsuna decided after a beat passed. "Anyway, you up for it?" She asked.
"Sure. I guess this weekend will work." The boy nodded.
"Cool. I'll text you my address." The lizard girl audibly smiled.
"See you then." Bayek smiled as the two hung up. "… It's been three years. Maybe I should try getting back in the game again." He mused.
Maybe a date with Setsuna would be a blessing…
Dragon Emperor0: Hey guys. Like before this is a fairly brief chapter due to the fact that there wasn't really much to go on in regards to Class B's orientation was like—so we made it up as we went along.
ThermalsniperN7: Or their quirk assessment test—or if they even had one. We had to wing that, too, but it should be okay. Bayek did a flex and pulled an infinity much like Ochako did.
Dragon Emperor0: Yeah. And don't worry, we'll be showing the interactions with Himiko and Ochako to establish their dynamic later on, probably in a Class A & B hangout session like in the School Briefs light novels.
ThermalsniperN7: I foresee Bayek having little to no tolerance for Monoma's shit. Anyway, see you next time.
