Because I'll never let this go,
They stayed for three days. For three days, he watched Rin and Kagome from afar. They played and learned, and he watched as Kagome filled a small motherly role to Rin. It was a shame she was not a mother herself; he was convinced she would be a good one. She was very selfless for a human, always giving to others and asking for nothing in return. He wondered why the human males did not seek her hand. Kagome was lonely; he could feel her sadness the day they left her. It would seem he was the only male in her life, and that wasn't saying much.
He figured that most human men were scared of her; she was an alpha female, but that's probably why she attracted demon males instead.
Inuyasha had all but left her life, visiting not often enough. He was a fool, even more so now than ever.
She stood waving bye to them. She was alone again.
"It is sad that we could not stay longer,"
He said nothing to Rin,
"Could we go back soon?" Rin asked,
"If that is what you wish, Rin,"
"Lady Kagome is very lonely,"
"As it would seem," He stated calmly,
"Sesshomaru-sama, do you not like Lady Kagome?"
"I have no ill will towards the Miko Rin,"
Rin was quiet for a moment, "Couldn't she come live with us?"
"No, Rin," One talkative human girl was enough to last him a lifetime.
"Lord Sesshomaru, will you remember us?"
He stopped walking, eyes a bit wide, then he looked down,
"You will live a lot longer than us. Will you remember us?"
He would never forget, never.
"I will remember Rin."
She smiled, pleased with his simple answer,
"Good!"
She skipped a long,
That night, his thoughts did run deep, very deep. One day, they would be all gone. Kikyo, the monk and slayer; Kagome, even Inuyasha, and his little Rin.
Everyone he knew.
Suddenly his immortality did not seem so great, he wondered for a moment what it would be like to die like everyone else. Many people he once knew where gone. From that day forward, he decided to watch Rin a little more closely and visit the Miko often. Life was really a blink to him.
His mind would drift to a dark place from time to time.
But true to his vow, he and Rin visited often, many times staying for a few days.
He watched both females rather closely, and weeks turned into months and months into years.
Kagome aged well, as did Rin. Rin was turning into a lovely young girl, and at the age of 15, she fell in love.
It was hard for him.
