Hi everyone! So for a while now I have been thinking of a couple of new stories that I have wanted to write for a long time. It doesn't mean I am abandoning this fic. Just that I want to write different stories, I will still keep writing Heart Broken. The next stories I have planned are both based on two bollywood movies. One will be Kataang/Zukka and the other will be Maiko/Maiaang. Let me know which one you would like to read first. Please give those stories a try when I get around to posting them. I'm sorry if this chapter took a while but I have been pretty busy. I will write new chapters for this story as soon as I can. Enjoy this new chapter.

After changing back to her usual style, Katara strolled out of the house and towards the stables. There she found both Appa and Momo resting. Momo sprawled over the top of the bison's head, who laid on his belly. The lemur was the first to notice the water bender's presence just from her scent. He rose and tilted his head at her. Katara gave him a small smile and greeted him.

"Hi Momo", she reached her hand out to him and hoped that he would hop on to it and climb to her shoulders like he used to. Instead, Momo remained where he was. Disappointed in his reaction, she pulled her hand back. Appa stirred his head and opened his eyes to find Katara in front of him. He watched her for a couple of seconds until he closed his eyes again, not acknowledging her presence.

Since her arrival in Ba Sing Se, Katara didn't have much time to spend with the flying mammals and it seemed that they didn't feel bothered about it. In fact, it seemed like they were just ignoring her the whole time before this. She had to admit that it was at least better than having them snarl at her like they did in the fire nation.

"You two are upset with me, aren't you?" Katara asked softly, "Because of what I did to Aang."

Momo only licked his forearms while Appa remained lying on the ground. Neither animal acknowledging her words.

"I understand. You're both right to feel the way that you do. I…hurt him. I let fear consume me and I hurt Aang in the worst possible way"

Momo put his arm down and Appa opened his eyes halfway. They remembered the early nights with Aang after they first left the fire nation. Appa remembered the feeling of Aang's tears falling to his fur as the air bender cried in his sleep. Momo would do his best to provide comfort for Aang. During the day he would be eerily quiet and kept to himself, leaving them both even more worried. Eventually Aang did get back to his normal self, but Appa and Momo would still worry for him.

"I really screwed everything up. After you three left, I was so distraught over Aang that I couldn't sleep. It took me time but, I've come to realize how much he means to me…and right now I need to see him."

Katara clasped her hands together, "Appa, you are the only one who would know how to look for him. I'm begging you…help me find him. I need to talk to him."

The lemur jumped down from Appa's head and looked to his giant friend.

"Trrrrrrr", the lemur chittered.

Appa gazed down to Momo and replied, "Rrrrrr"

"Trr Trrrrrrr Tr"

"Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr"

"TRRRRRRRRR!" Momo chittered with agitation.

"RRRRR!" Appa rose on his paws and growled at Momo. Katara watched them as they conversated, not understanding a darn thing they were saying to each other. She raised an eyebrow when Momo stomped his feet as his argument with with Appa went on.

"Trr Trrrrr TRRRRRRRR! Trrr."

Appa looked away from Momo and watched Katara. She raised her clasped hands higher and pleaded again, "Please Appa. You're the only one who can help me."

The bison kept his gaze on her and contemplated to himself. Katara could only her composure, hoping that he would grant her request.

Mai held the door open for Aang as he walked. After closing the door, she led him further into the hotel room and gestured for him to take a seat on the red couch chair next to the desk. Mai watched him for any signs of a smile, but Aang had shown none. Aang took his seat and looked around the room. The Regal Bear Suites was one of the more expensive hotels in Ba Sing Se and was only in the upper ring. Looking out the window, he could see a decent view of the city. The color of the room was that of a typical high class earth nation color. Swirls of grass green and gold shown on the ceiling and the walls. The sheets on the bed were silk and looked to be rather expensive as well.

"Nice room you got here", Aang commented.

"Meh, it's alright I guess", Mai shrugged and took her seat on the edge of her mattress. "Can't say I'm a fan of the flashy green. Rather go with red but we are in the earth kingdom after all."

"Hmph" Aang scoffed, "spoken like a typical rich fire nation woman."

"Careful Aang", Mai smirked, "you almost sounded snarky for a moment there."

"Haha very funny Mai", he replied sarcastically, "Where is Ty Lee?"

Mai leaned back and checked her reflection in the mirror, "She's out with the other Kyoshi Warriors."

"Hmm", Aang gazed at her while she checked on her appearance. She wore a thin black robe, tied around her waist. It was the first time he had seen Mai with her hair down and he could see what made Zuko so enamored with her. She was beautiful. The thought of Zuko reminded Aang why he had come in the first place.

"We need to talk Mai"

She turned her head back towards him, "So you've said." Her lips curved upwards as she crossed her legs. "Are you eager to talk like we did last time?"

Aang blushed as he remembered how their last conversation went. He shook his head to clear his thoughts. "No. I want to talk to you about Zuko."

"What about him?" Mai leaned back up and crossed her arms. The smile she wore fell instantly.

"He told me about his confrontation with you. You hurt him", Aang grimaced.

"And? You told me to confront him, and I did", Mai replied.

"And you used me to hurt him", Aang responded as he narrowed his eyes at her, "Even after I made it clear that I didn't want you to."

Mai said nothing as she stood up from her mattress and stepped up to the window. Her eyes staying on the view of the city. Aang followed and stood behind her.

"Last night, he and the others got drunk. He got pretty wasted and…was distraught and was crying in my arms. Zuko has shown nothing but remorse for what he did to you Mai."

Mai kept her gaze on the city, "Why are you telling me this?"

"I thought that I should tell you what you're doing to him…and maybe talk to him"

"As if", she spat, "I could care less if the poor fire lord is sad. Zuko is a fool if he expects me to forgive him so easily."

"Look, I know you're doing what I advised you to do" Aang sighed, "but we both know how much you love him. Hurting him isn't what you really want, is it?"

"What makes you think you know what I want?" Mai turned her head and watched him from the corner of her eye. Her black robe slid down to the floor and the air bender's eyes widened at the sight. Mai wore a blood red nightdress. The end of the dress only went down below her rear, exposing her long bare legs to him.

"Mai—" She stepped up to him and pressed her finger to his lips. She placed her hand on Aang's bare shoulder.

"Maybe I don't want Zuko…maybe all I want I is you Aang", Mai said with a seductive tone. Aang took her hands off him, raising them over her head and pushed Mai against the wall.

"I'm not here to play games with you Mai!" Aang gritted his teeth.

"Hard to tell when you got me pressed to the wall like this Avatar", Mai smirked and raised her chest to make sure he had a clear view of her cleavage. Aang felt his face heat up as he saw what she was doing and realized the position he and her were in. He released his grasp and turned away.

"Darn it, Mai. This isn't what I came here for" Aang growled as he dared not to look at her.

"I am aware. I just wanted to see you if you were going to do anything" she replied, "I don't care that Zuko is sorry. Just because he was crying last night doesn't mean I'll go running back to him."

Aang turned back to her, "Well I don't want him thinking that you have feelings for me. Zuko is still my friend and—"

"Oh, he's still your friend, is he?" Mai interrupted, "A friend who stole the girl you love?"

"Don't y—"

"SHUT UP!" Mai walked up and pushed him, "You think you can just come here and tell me what to do?! What gives you the right?"

"Mai I'm not trying to force you to do anything!" Aang said defensively.

"You know exactly what he did to me and you want to me to take it easy on him?! After giving him my love and support…only to be tossed away for that water bender."

She made another attempt to push, but Aang grabbed hold of her arms. "Please calm down Mai. The last thing I want to do is make you do anything you don't want to."

Mai pulled back her arms and sneered, "Put yourself in my position and tell me how you would feel if that water bender did the same to you. Saying that she loved you after breaking your heart!"

Aang's eyes shifted from side to side as he looked away. Mai noted the hesitation he held and narrowed her eyes at him.

"What's wrong?" She questioned.

Aang avoided looking at her as he answered, "Nothings wrong. It's nothing…really nothing…"

"Cut the crap", Mai crossed her arms and kept her harden glare on him. She wondered what it was that made him hesitate. She had only told him to think of how he would feel if he was in her position and…then it dawned on her.

"She did, didn't she?"

Aang finally looked back at her, "W-what are you talking about?"

"The water bender. She did tell you, didn't she?"

The air bender only stood there and said nothing in return. Mai watched him rub the back of his neck. The gesture giving himself away without realizing it.

"Well, isn't that something", Mai chuckled as she rested her chin on her palm of her hand, "So when did this happen?"

"Last night", Aang mumbled.

"She was drunk too, wasn't she?" Mai inquired with a smug grin. Aang nodded his head.

"We really are on the same boat. We might as well split the rent", Mai chuckled again.

"It isn't funny", Aang replied with an annoyed tone.

"It's a little funny", Mai retorted as she began slowly circling around him. "Last night must have been quite eventful for you."

'You have no idea…' Aang thought to himself and let out a deep sigh. From dealing with Zuko before the party, what happened during the party with Katara and Kano thanks to Sokka, dealing with his drunk friends, a crying and regretful Zuko and Katara's confession. Eventful was certainly the word for how his night went.

"So, what did you tell her?"

Aang shook his head and looked back at Mai who stopped circling him and stood in front of him.

"What?"

Mai raised an eyebrow, "The water bender. What did you tell her after she told you?"

"I…she fell asleep before I could say anything" Aang admitted.

"Hmmm", Mai turned her back to him and crouched down, reaching for her black robe. "That was sure convenient for you." She stood back up and put the robe back on, "So what are you going to do now?"

"I-I…I don't know", Aang answered. It was the truth after all. He thought that such a confession from Katara would make him jump up in excitement, but he felt hesitant. A part of him was happy while the other felt a mix of other emotions. He didn't know how he was supposed to feel.

"Seriously", Mai sneered and turned back to him with crossed arms, "It should be obvious to you."

"I don't know what you want me to say", Aang shrugged.

"It shouldn't be hard for you to figure it out. Kick her to the curb." Mai stated.

"It isn't that simple." Aang denied. He couldn't do that to Katara.

"Yes, it is. You just refuse to see it because you don't want anyone to get hurt. It's in your nature to act this way."

"And what's so wrong about that?" Aang clenched his fists.

"It makes you a coward. A coward to yourself" Mai chided as she stomped towards him, "After everything she and Zuko did to us, to you. We both went through the same pain, so you know exactly how I feel. If all she has to do is confess her love to you after breaking your heart for you to accept her feelings, then you are a coward!"

"I'm not like you Mai. I'm not going to treat her the same way that you have been treating Zuko. I'm not going to intentionally hurt her", Aang protested.

"So, what then? You're going to run back to her arms like her little pet?! Is the Avatar, master of all elements and the most powerful being in the world, just a pushover for some water tribe harlot?!" Mai yelled.

"ENOUGH!" Aang cried out with a thousand voices. The echoes pushing Mai to the floor. She watched with widen eyes filled with fear as Aang's eyes and tattoos glowed. The scowl he gave her sent shivers down her spine. Aang noticed her tense expression and looked down at his arm, seeing how much his tattoos were glowing. His anger with Mai triggered his Avatar state. He gasped and immediately took calming breaths. It didn't take long for the glow to dim as he calmed down.

It was the first time in a while since his intense emotions triggered the Avatar state. To think that he let himself lose control like that for a second made Aang feel great shame. Not sparing Mai another glance, he turned around and headed for the door.

"Aang!" Mai reached out to him.

"I'm sorry", Aang said softly as he opened the door and closed it on his way out. Mai scrambled up, dashed to the door and opened it. The air bender had already disappeared from the hallway, likely far from her now already. Mai let out a sigh and closed the door. She leaned her forehead against the bronze door as she felt immense wave of regret for her harsh words.

Katara couldn't be happier that Appa and Momo chose to help her in the end. The bison had allowed her access to the top of his head and flew up in search of Aang. In a vast kingdom like Ba Sing Se, it would have taken all day for Katara to find the air bender, but luckily Appa was helping her. They had searched the streets for an hour by flying above until Katara noticed some far movement from the corner of her eyes. It was when she steered Appa to the right that she saw Aang flying on his glider over the upper ring.

"There he is" Katara pointed out. Appa groaned while Momo chittered as they caught sight of their friend. Appa sped up closer until Aang begun descending from the air.

Aang landed down on a wooden bridge that was built over a small river. He closed his glider and rested it against the rails of the bridge. His mind raced over what had transpired in the hotel room with Mai. He hoped that he hadn't scared her. He hated the thought of anyone being scared of him. He rested his arms on the rails and leaned over to watch his reflection in the water.

'What's wrong with me?' He could barely sleep after he quietly left Katara in her room. Her confession and unexpected kiss had shocked him enough to keep him awake. At most he was only able to get three hours of sleep. When he couldn't sleep any more, he decided to get out of bed and meditate which didn't help him since he had difficulty clearing his mind. He needed to get his mind off what happened and chose to pay Mai a visit so that he could talk to her about Zuko's drunken behavior but looking back now…it was likely not a good idea. Despite her attitude with him, Aang didn't want to let his anger out on Mai.

Before he could contemplate further, Aang heard Appa's roar coming from his left. He turned around to find Appa landing at the end of the bridge with Momo and…Katara? To see her riding on top of Appa was a surprise to the air bender considering what happened back in the fire nation when Katara greeted Appa and Momo. Katara slid down from Appa's head and ran towards Aang. Once she got close enough, Katara wrapped arms around his neck. The air bender instinctively returned the gesture and wondered what this was about.

"Is something wrong Katara?" Aang asked. He put his hands on her shoulder to push her back. She wished that he hadn't done so but made no remark about it. Her arms fell to her side when she let go of him.

"I um…I was…worried..you were g-g-gone and..", the water bender stuttered as a blush formed, "I remember what happened last night."

He hoped that she wasn't talking about what he thought she was talking about. He had expected and even hoped that Katara wouldn't remember what happened due to the alcohol. He knew that not everyone remembered what they did while drunk and he had hope that would be the case with Katara. He just could not deal with this. Aang would have to deflect.

"Everyone throws up when after drinking too much" Aang smiled softly he took his hands off her shoulder, "I won't hold that against you."

Katara's eyebrows furrowed as she wondered why he would be talking about that. Aang was the only person that didn't drink and so he had no reason not to remember. "W-w-well yeah but that isn't what I—"

"How is everyone else doing? Everyone was pretty drunk last night" Aang inquired, trying to change the subject.

"Oh, ummm they are all still recovering. Iroh has given us some tea to help with our hangover", Katara answered and started giggling when she remembered Sokka's new look, "Great handiwork on Sokka's face by the way."

"I'd say the swirly mustache is a good look for him. He did say he wanted to grow out his facial hair and I thought I could help him with that", Aang laughed.

"He would beg to differ", Katara replied and laughed along with him. They laughed together for a little while until Katara caught her breath and deciding to bring up the hypothetical bison in the room.

"Listen Aang…can we talk about the other thing that happened last night?"

Aang continued to feign ignorance, "Oh you mean our dance at the party? Kano really thought we were impressive."

"I wasn't talking about that", Katara countered. She was started feeling annoyed with Aang's aversion. From her point of view, it had almost seemed intentional.

"I'm actually feeling a bit parched myself", Aang patted his abdomen, "I could go for some of Iroh's tea right now."

She could finally see through his façade. He was deflecting her on purpose. Aang made an attempt to step past Katara but was held back. She held a grip on his bicep and pulled him back in front of her.

The water bender narrowed her eyes at him, "You're evading."

"I-I don't know what you're talking about", Aang stuttered as he looked anywhere to avoid her questioning glare.

"Yes, you do", Katara grabbed hold of his chin and made him look towards her. Aang pulled himself from her grip and jumped back. Her glared soften into a look of worry when he retreated from her. It had become obvious to her that Aang was avoiding the topic of what happened between them. Despite that, she couldn't let him slip without talking to him about it. She couldn't lose him again, especially when she knows now that Aang still felt about her.

"Stop pretending Aang. You were the only person that didn't drink last night, and I know you have a good memory."

"There isn't anything for us to talk about", Aang sighed. He gave in now that he saw no choice, "You were drunk Katara, and no one ever thinks clearly when they're drunk. It's okay if you didn't mean it."

He thought and even hoped that was the case. That it was all a drunken mistake on her part. However, Katara shook her head.

"I did mean it Aang. All of it", she walked up to him, "I was blinded by fear, and I hurt you…After you left nothing was the same and my world went gray without you."

"Katara…" Aang muttered. Katara took a hold of his robe when she got close enough.

"It was always you Aang…no one else but you."

His storm gray eyes met with her ocean blue eyes. In that moment, there was no one else in the world but the two of them.

"Zuko helped me realize that…"

'Zuko?'

"I know I was drunk last night, but I was telling you the truth Aang."

With her other hand, Katara cupped the side of Aang's cheek and moved closer to him.

"I love you", she declared and closed her eyes as she pressed her lips against…nothing. There was nothing but an empty space from where Aang stood. She turned around and found him standing behind her with his back towards her. He had escaped her grasp once more.

"Aang?"

She loved him. Katara really loved him.

"Aang?" she called out to him once more. He kept his back to her.

"I'm sorry Katara…"

Hope you all enjoyed this chapter. As always please let me know what you think it the reviews, they keep me motivated to write. Hope everyone has a great weekend!
