"You guys look like you've been through a lot to get here. What happened?" Gosalyn nodded towards Huey's leg as she closed the door behind them.

Dewey grinned. "Oh, Gos, do I have a story for you!" He grabbed her by the shoulders and sat her down on the couch. "What started out as a simple road trip has turned into the adventure of the year!" He began to list each item off on his fingers. "At some stuffy museum outside of Duckburg, Huey became nerd famous. We partied it up in Uncle Gladstone's killer hot tub. From there, we found out that we're being hunted by the leader of Louie's old prison gang. Crazy, I know. Who would choose a kid with the name Llew-"

"Deeeewweey… Thin. Ice." Louie pinched his arm as he walked Huey to the couch.

"Yeah, whatever." He glared at his little brother before continuing. "Anyway, you should have been there, Gos. I drove in the most epic car chase ever to get away from that gang leader. And just when we thought we were gonna be road meat, Launchpad swooped in, knocked Gus off the road, and brought us here." He smiled over at Launchpad but his friend was rubbing his chin and pretending to look at pictures on the wall. Dewey sighed and turned his smile to Gosalyn instead.

"Keen-gear!" She laughed and rubbed the back of her neck. "That's quite a trip you three have had. I'm not sure I completely understand it all but-"

Louie smacked the back of Dewey's head. "Great job, Dewford, you just made her more confused."

"You try and summarize it, genius." Dewey pulled away from him.

"Guys, guys, how about you just tell me what you're doing here." Gosalyn stood as soon as Huey sat down on the couch next to her.

Huey watched her move with purpose over to a closet by the front door. What is she up to?

"We're trying to learn more about our da-"

Louie grabbed him by the beak. "Stop blabbing, Dingus! The more people we tell, the more likely things will get back to Scrooge about what we're up to."

Dewey shoved Louie off of him and rubbed his beak. "She's cool. She won't tell him. Will you, Gos?"

"I don't make a habit of talking to ancient, Scottish bajillionaires and I don't plan on starting anytime soon." Gosalyn fell out of the closet with a box in her hands.

Ah, a first aid kit. She's thoughtful. I didn't even have to say anything.

"See? We have nothing to worry about. Gosalyn can help."

"I don't like telling everyone we come in contact with about it… they all know Scrooge. He could try to stop us…"

As his brothers argued, Huey watched Gosalyn carry the first aid kit along with a single crutch over to the couch.

"I'm going to guess you got the worst end of the car chase deal, huh?" She smiled and set the kit in his lap.

It took a moment for Huey to swallow the lump gathering at the base of his throat. Finally, he got it down. "How'd you know?" he smirked.

"Lucky guess." Gosalyn set a pillow on the couch and lifted his leg up onto it before he had time to move a muscle. She handled his ankle with such care that Huey hardly felt a thing. "Sprain?"

"You have a knack for guessing and hitting the nail right on the head."

"So, that's why the magic-trick kids at school always hated me."

They both laughed.

Huey couldn't take his eyes off her as she set his ankle and wrapped it to keep it in place. Her soft smile was soothing and her presence was an element of calm in the midst of the chaos happening over his shoulder.

"Huey, help me out here. He's being ridiculous."

"I'm being ridiculous?! You're the one blabbing to everyone what we're up to! Word is going to get back to Scrooge or Gus about where we're at and we can't afford another screw up!"

"It's not my fault we have a killer maniac after us. Last I checked, that was on your long list of screwups, Captain Lost!"

"Oh, you change your tone or I'll change it for you!" The two started to tussle behind the couch.

Huey rolled his eyes and rested back after Gosalyn unwrapped his head. "Sorry about them. It's a shame they don't have the same charming personality I do." He smirked and tried to bounce his eyebrow, only to end up wincing instead.

She snickered. "I don't mind. It's nice to know that some things never change."

Huey couldn't help the flush that rose into his cheeks. What does she mean by that? Just that the three of us are always fighting or that my personality is charming? He took a breath, scrambling for something to say. "Yup, they've been at each other's throats all day. Siblings? Whatcha gonna do?" He folded his hands behind his head.

Gosalyn met eyes with him for a split second before she dug through the open kit in his lap. "I wouldn't know. The closest thing I have to a brother is Honker and he never disagrees with me. I mean… not successfully at least." She smirked as she cleaned up the gash in his head.

Honker? Whose that? Woah, wait, slow down there. She said he was like a brother, Hue-man, you've still got a chance.

"We may need to glue this. I think I have some here somewhere." Gosalyn dug around in the kit.

Huey spotted the glue and went for it at the same time she did. Their fingers brushed against each other's and froze there. She pulled back. "Oh, sorry. Here you go." He quickly grabbed the tube of glue and handed it to her. He could feel the heat growing in his face. All he could do was hope she didn't notice.

By the look on her face, Gosalyn wasn't phased at all. She grabbed his head and yanked it closer. "Hold still."

Huey stared at the ground as she applied the glue to his forehead. "You know a lot about this kind of stuff." He glanced at his perfectly set ankle. "And your wrap job is much better than Louie's." Not like that's that hard to do. "You'd make a good nurse."

She laughed, tossing the glue back in the box and unrolling some bandages around her hand. "A nurse? No, no, no. I mean,I could manage it, sure, but I'm a hockey player at heart. I just know how to treat a few flesh wounds here and there from how many times my dad gets hurt."

"That explains the crutch then."

"Yeaaaaah, my dad gets injured a lot more than the average person. The less visits to the hospital the better… you know, for insurance reasons." She smiled, wrapping his head with a clean set of bandages, nice and tight, just how he liked it.

"Sounds like you're a girl of many talents." He gazed up at her green eyes when she stepped back to examine her work.

"I'd have to be in order to keep up with a dad like mine." Gosalyn made a few adjustments to his bandages before closing the first aid kit and finally meeting eyes with him. "There. Any other aches or pains I can tend to?"

You mean, besides the aching of my heart? Huey rested his chin in his hand and shook his head, smiling at her. "Thank you, Gosalyn. I-"

"Gosalyn!" Dewey grabbed her by the arm and yanked her attention away. "Back off, Lou, I'm telling her. She can help us. Launchpad was delivering crates to Professor VonDrake. Do you have any idea where we can find him? We need his help finding answers about our dad."
