I do not own Avengers or any of the characters. That all belongs to Disney and the talented late Stan Lee. I only own my OC, her parents and other characters I make up along the way.

Star Gazers

Chapter 10: Suit Up

Loki smirked in amusement as he watched Rosalie, who laid down sleeping in the sofa within the living room of Stark Tower.

He'd had much time to think about her, this young woman who so easily drew others and caused them to grow fond of her. It quite surprised him when he learned from Agent Barton that this female Midgardian had spent much of her time studying Asgard and the Nine Realms. As well as figures such as himself, Thor, Odin and Frigga.

Almost against his will, Loki found himself becoming more interested in her.

Once all the pathetic mortals were on their knees before him, from the leaders down to the lowest wretch, Loki would not only need to affirm his hold on it, he would have to ensure that the people remained under heel.

To achieve everything in one swoop, he would take a queen from amongst them.

All great kings needed to produce male heirs to ensure a strong ruling line and that required a feminine presence in his plans.

If his bride was a human and he were to seduce (or even force) her to his cause, it would give him a greater hold over the mortals.

And Agent Rosalie Breisgau was exactly the one to choose to sit beside his throne.

She was strong, passionate, caring and beautiful.

Loki slowly bent down to touch the locks of Rosalie's auburn red balayage brown hair, removing the strands that covered her face.

The God of Mischief smirked to himself.

She looked absolutely attractive when she slept.

However, when his hand attempted to touch past her chin, he saw an odd bright light inside her that drew him like a moth to a flame.

But the moment he saw it, it was then gone.

What in the world was that?

Rosalie's eyes then snapped open and immediately glared at Loki.

"Touch me again and you'll regret it."Rosalie warned coldly.

Loki simply moved his hand away from Rosalie.

Rosalie looked at her surroundings.

The part-time saw she was in a living room with modern art on the walls and a clear view of New York City while a large bar full of alcoholic beverages were nearby.

She then realised where she was since she knew a certain man who would have that much alcohol in one room.

"Stark's place. Wonderful."Rosalie muttered and looked back at Loki."Why am I here, Loki? Why did you take me?"

"You're very much like Sif and the few other female warriors back on Asgard. So full of fire and fight."Loki sneered as he tucked a strand of hair behind Rosalie's ear."And to answer your questions I want you to join me."

Rosalie frowned. "Excuse me?"

"I've encountered countless women in my time."Loki admitted smugly."However, none of them were like you. Your beauty, your passion, your strength. I can think of no one else better suited to be my queen as well as rule by my side. And I promise to grant whatever you desire."

Rosalie blinked a bit before she snorted out her laughter, surprising Loki.

"Really? You want me to be your queen?"Rosalie questioned with an utterly fake enthusiastic smile."A homicidal maniac that is lashing out at my people over his daddy issues?"

The smug look on Loki's face dropped.

"Loki, no offence, but war crimes are not comparable to losing your temper on your father and brother that got on your nerves."Rosalie complemented."And why bother try to rule Earth? I agree, humans, are weak when compared to those of not-so-human origins. Also at times, we waged war after war on each other for the most unnecessary of reasons. But we have a strength that none can ever hope to touch or diminish."

Loki furrowed his brows.

"Oh?"Loki said with a mocking tone."Please, do enlighten me."

"Hope. They never give it up, they fight for it, die for it, and live for it."Rosalie answered sternly and then smirked."And just so you know, you'll be stopped before you can even claim yourself to be 'King of Midgard."

Loki gave a snarky laugh at the part-time historian's bold yet naïve respond.

"How foolish of you to think so, darling."Loki admitted."You truly believe your group of friends can truly stop me?"

Rosalie's smirk grew a bit.

"You're not as strong and fearsome as you appear to me, Loki."Rosalie replied."In my point of view, I only see a scared little boy shivering in the cold and all he needs-"

Rosalie wasn't able to finish her sentence upon Loki suddenly grabbing her throat in an iron grip and slamming her against the wall.

However, the part-time historian just glared back at the God of Mischief.

"Be careful what you say, Agent Breisgau."Loki snarled, his face a few inches away from Rosalie's."I can take control of you and force you to kill anyone around you. Including your little hero group. Then when you wake up from the trance, you will have their dead bodies lying in front of you and you will have to live with that for the rest of your life."

Rosalie chocked at the thought of harming her friends, but still glared at Loki.

"Now wonder Odin loved Thor more than you."Rosalie muttered bitterly."You're an absolute psychopath."

Loki grinned before kissing Rosalie roughly on the lips, much to her dismay.

It was a rather fierce and hungry kiss.

The two of them then starred at each other in the eyes.

"You're very creative with your words, my pet."Loki praised smugly."But you will join me."

Rosalie's cheeks dusted pink in anger upon the maniac threatening to rule her planet and kissing her again.

"Listen carefully, Mr Jackass Greasy Hair, I'm many things but I'm nobody's pet."Rosalie warned sharply."And I'll never join you."

Loki suddenly made his sceptre appear in his hand.

"I doubt you have that much a choice."Loki replied with a smirk.

Rosalie froze as Loki lightly tapped the sceptre onto her chest and she fell under its influence once more.

Tony was out of his armour and currently sitting with Steve and Director Fury at the conference table in the main room.

From the talk going through the Helicarrier, there were many wounded, numerous dead and one missing.

Trapped inside Loki's glass prison, Thor had been launched from the ship, a fall of easily twenty thousand feet or more. Such a fall could easily kill a human being and it was not clear if an Asgardian could survive the drop.

Doctor Banner as the Hulk, had also hurdled to Earth, but in his alternate form, the group were more optimistic about his survival.

Though what worried Steve the most was what happened to Rosalie.

"Agent Breisgau had been compromised."Director Fury informed.

A wave of panic started growing within Steve, but he kept silence.

"She went with Agent Coulson to try and prevent his escape."Director Fury admitted."Unfortunately, a mind-controlled guard had gotten Loki the scepter and he used it to overpower them."

Director Fury sighed as he hung his head.

"She managed to save Coulson from being stabbed from behind, but in doing so, she got Loki's attention."Director Fury exclaimed."From what we can gather, she tried to take him down by herself, but Loki was able to get her and make his escape. They're gone."

There were a mixture of feelings and thoughts racing through Steve's mind.

He'd seen the way Loki had been eyeing her like a hungry cat after capturing him in Germany.

Will Loki hurt Rosalie?

Torture her for information and then get rid of her?

No.

Loki was too clever for that.

He had made a mockery out of them, had pulled them apart using nothing more than their egos.

But the super soldier had a feeling that Rosalie knew this would happen and her warning fell on deaf ears.

Now the part-time historian was under the God of Mischief's clutches.

In one of the medical rooms, Clint lay in bed with his wrists strapped down.

He was at war with himself, trying to get control back from Loki but still feeling that pull to get his next set of orders.

"Clint, you're gonna be alright."

Natasha was next to Clint in a nearby seat.

"You know that? Is that what you know? I got...I gotta go in though."Clint muttered as he tried to remove Loki's influence on his mind."I gotta flush him out."

Natasha went over to pour water in a small cup.

"We don't have that long, it's gonna take time."Natasha informed.

"I don't understand."Clint commented and glanced at Natasha."Have you ever had someone take your brain and play? Pull you out and send something else in? Do you know what it's like to be unmade?"

"You know that I do."Natasha answered.

"Why am I back?"Clint questioned."How did you get him out?"

"Cognitive recalibration."Natasha admitted and sat next to Clint to undo the straps on his wrists."I hit you really hard in the head.

"Thanks."Clint answered and became worried upon thinking what he could've done under Loki's influence."Natasha, how many agents?"

"Don't."Natasha replied in a soft yet stern tone."Don't do that to yourself, Clint. This is Loki. This is monsters and magic and nothing we were ever trained for."

Clint sighed as he tried to hear his partner's words before he remembered his mission.

"Loki."Clint started as he made his entire posture straightening back up."He wanted to know everything about Rosa."

Natasha frowned slightly at Clint's respond.

Her best friend was taken from Thor's adopted brother, but no one knew her whereabouts.

"He's obsessed with her."Natasha declared."And now he has her."

Clint's head snapped up at what he just heard.

"What?"Clint scoffed.

"Yeah. Loki attempted to kill Coulson, but she saved his life."Natasha admitted, trying to compose her own fear of the possible thoughts that could happen to her best friend."No one knows where they are. I don't suppose you know where?"

"I didn't need to know. I didn't ask."Clint admitted as Natasha stood up from where she sat and he started to drink his beverage."He's gonna make his play soon though. Today."

"We gotta stop him."Natasha declared.

"Yeah?"Clint questioned."Who's 'we'?"

"I don't know."Natasha answered."Who's ever left."

"Well, if I put an arrow in Loki's eye socket, I'd sleep better I suppose."Clint retorted."Plus, we need to get Rosa back. She's one of us."

A small grin appeared on Natasha's face as she sat next to her partner.

"Now you sound like you."Natasha replied.

"But you don't. You're a spy, not a soldier."Clint stated."Now you want to wade into a war. Why? What did Loki do to you?"

"He didn't, I just..."Natasha started.

"Natasha."Clint responded.

Natasha fidgeted and licked her bottom lip.

Rosalie helped her in tight situations and needed to help her back in return.

That's what best friends do.

"I've been compromised."Natasha answered with a firm look."I got red in my ledger, I'd like to wipe it out."

Steve followed Tony to the prison level, where Loki's cell had been.

There, he stood in silent thought, wondering what had become of Thor, Doctor Banner and Rosalie.

Though mostly his mind was on Rosalie's fate.

"Rosalie could've waited for other agents."Steve retorted."Why didn't she?"

"Coulson was doing his job. She was probably all that was available at the time."Tony admitted, defending the injured man who was now in the ship's hospital."One thing you should know about Lady Canary is that she cares a lot about those around her and doesn't wait for back-up to help her out."

"That doesn't gave her the right on taking on Loki alone."Steve argued, his anger rising up."She should've thought about herself."

Tony let out a scoff.

"Well, Rosebud didn't want Coulson killed."Tony replied."She is not someone new in risking her own life. She's quite capable of taking care of herself."

Steve took a swing at the wall, slamming his knuckle on it and leaving a dent in the metal wall paneling.

"That's wrong! She shouldn't gamble her life like that!"Steve argued, losing his temper."Now she's gone! We don't even know what Loki's plan is from this point! What's he going to do now that he's got both the Cube and Rosa?"

Tony's hand rested on Steve's shoulder.

"I thought you'd be used to losing soldiers in a fight."Tony said.

"Rosa is not a soldier, she's a spy."Steve reminded with a frown."She has skills, but not any of them are no match to those of Loki's."

"Believe me, cap. Rosebud is tougher than she loves."Tony replied with a slight chuckle."She's got more spine than I think you give her credit for. If she was willing to go head-to-head with Loki, even at the cost of her own life, that says a lot about how much guts she's got."

Steve glanced at Tony as the billionaire began to walk away from him.

"Now that Loki has her? What do you think he intends to do with her?"Steve questioned."A hostage or bargaining chip?"

This made Tony pause from walking and glance at Steve.

"I'm not one that studied mythologies, but I know Loki would want her for something big."Tony admitted."He hit us all right where we live. Why?"

"To tear us apart."Steve answered.

"He had to conquer his greed, but he knows he has to take us out to win, right?"Tony said."That's what he wants. He wants to beat us, he wants to be seen doing it. He wants an audience."

"Right."Steve agreed."We caught his act in Stuttgart."

"Yeah. That's just previews, this is...this is opening night."Tony answered as the pieces slowly began to fit in his mind."And Loki, he's a full-tail diva. He wants flowers, he wants parades, he wants a monument built to the skies with his name plastered."

Tony stopped as the answer came to him.

He knew the place where he Loki was going to make his kingdom and exactly where he took Rosalie.

"Sonofabitch."Tony muttered under his breath.

Steve went to get Natasha from the medical room to tell her what was going on.

"Time to go."Steve declared.

"Where?"Natasha asked, showing a mixture of emotions such as anger, curiosity and determination.

"I'll tell you on the way."Steve answered."Stark's figured out what Loki's up to. Can you fly one of those jets?"

"I can."

Steve turned around to see Clint emerge from the restroom.

Glancing at Natasha, the super soldier only relaxed a hair when she confirmed that Barton was okay.

"Have you got a suit?"Steve questioned.

Clint nodded at the super soldier.

"Then suit up."Steve insisted.

After they had all finished suiting up, the trio made their way towards one of the quinjets that sat readied in the interior hangar.

Clint had changed out of his all black gear and into his S.H.I.E.L.D. regulated uniform and had his trusty bow in hand.

A couple agents paused as they saw Captain America, Black Widow, and Hawkeye marching through the hangar, but that didn't stop them and got out of their way.

The three heroes marched straight up the ramp and into the back of the Quinjet, startling the young pilot inside.

The young pilot lurched to his feet and began to recite what he was likely taught in training.

"You're not authorised to-"the young pilot started.

Steve cocked his head to the side and shot the pilot a look.

"Son, just don't."Steve stated.

Natasha jerked her head towards the exterior of the Quinjet.

"Step out, agent, this is official business."Natasha declared.

The pilot agreed to move from where he sat, holding up his hands in resignation.

Once he was out, Clint hit the button that lifted and closed the ramp before making his way towards the cockpit.

The archer sat in the pilot's seat and slipped on the headset, adjusting the microphone so it was lined up with his mouth.

Clint then began to flick switches and press buttons.

Natasha settled into the co-pilot's seat and Steve stood at the entrance of the cockpit, holding onto the frame of the doorway for support.

Steve glanced at Natasha.

"Exactly how did you free Barton from Loki's influence?"Steve asked.

"Hit his head really hard."Natasha replied."Don't worry. We'll get Rosa back."

Steve gives Natasha a slight nod, silently hoping Rosalie was doing fine despite being under Loki's grasp.

The interior runway cleared for the Quinjet and they taxied towards the end of it, picking up speed at a steady and safe rate.

Soon enough, the Quinjet was out in the clear sky, cutting through the air as they sped towards their final destination; New York City.
