Chapter 45.
Iida's awakening.
The rescue team continues on its way, jumping from tree to tree. – "We are close!"- Izumi said while looking at the path indicated by her phone.
- "I can see them, up ahead!"- Kaminari said.
- "I don't see them paying attention to their surroundings..."- Iida said.
- "Those bastards are underestimating us..."- Bakugo said. – "They think that idiot from before was enough to defeat us."-
- "In that case let's take them by surprise!"- Izumi said.
Meanwhile the Bronze Guard continues on its way. – "Techno is taking his time, don't you think?"- The woman said.
- "Nah... I hear someone approaching... it's probably him."- The man with six arms said.
- "We don't think so! Watch out!" - The man with two heads said.
Everyone looks back and is surprised to see Izumi attack the leader.
- "Roku…"- Hone, the leader of the bronze guard, said and at that moment the six-armed guy stood in Izumi's way and shot a net from his mouth.
Izumi is caught by the net, Kaminari catches her to prevent her from falling to the ground while Iida and Bakugo attack the six-armed guy, now identified as Roku.
Roku quickly jumps back to avoid the attacks. – "Now it's my turn, you guys get out of here!"- He said.
- "Come on, Bronze Guard!"- Hone said as he takes Yamikumo by the collar of his shirt and, together with the woman and the two-headed guy, they continue on their way.
- "I knew that leaving that idiot Techno to deal with those brats alone was stupid."- The woman said.
- "It was Techno's mistake to underestimate his rivals, they may be students, but apparently they are strong."- Hone said.
- "Look on the bright side, they are now one man less and Roku is stronger than Techno... so we can say that hopefully they will lose two more men while facing Roku."- The man with two heads said.
- "You may be right... but we have to stay alert from now on."- Hone said.
Back with the rescue team…
- "Midoriya, are you okay?"- Kaminari asked.
- "Yes, don't worry."- Izumi said, then tries to break the net with her hands, but before that she realizes something. – "It's made of chitin!" –
- "Chitin... what is that?"- Kaminari asked.
- "It is an element of which the exoskeletons of some insects and spiders are composed, it's firm but flexible."- Izumi said as she breaks the net to free herself.
- "Die you damn spider!"- Bakugo attacks Roku with an explosion, but he creates a chitin shield and covers himself.
Roku points with four of his hands to the sides, several ropes of chitin are tied to the trees and using them he propels himself upwards and then fires another two ropes from his free hands at Bakugo, who uses explosions to avoid them. - "I don't know what you did when you faced Techno... but it will be different with me."- Roku said.
At that, Iida tries to attack him from behind with a kick, however Roku manages to dodge the attack and then launches more chitin from his mouth, enclosing Iida in something similar to a cocoon. – "His reflexes are fast..."- Iida thought.
- "This is being a bit fun..."- Roku said, then each of his hands creates chitin daggers. – "Let's continue with this fun game!"-
Roku throws two of his daggers at Bakugo, but Izumi stops them using her black whip. – "Kaminari-kun!"- She said.
Just then, a disc sticks into the ground right at Roku's feet, who looks up and sees Kaminari pointing his finger at it. – "You are within my range!"- Kaminari said attacking with electricity which goes in Roku's direction thanks to the disk at his feet.
Thinking quickly, Roku expels more chitin from his mouth and creates something similar to a cage above him with which he not only protects himself from the electricity, but also disperses it. - "I'm sorry, but the chitin I create is indestructible from those types of attacks!"- Roku said.
Roku shoots a rope from one of his hands trapping Kaiminari's leg, then pulls him up and tries to stab him with one of the daggers, however... - "I won't let you!"- Iida kicks him and grabs Kaminari to get away from Roku and closer to Izumi and Bakugo.
Roku quickly recovers from the attack. - "He easily broke the cocoon..."- He thought while looking at Iida.
- "It seems I was right... the chitin can only be broken with brute force..." – Iida said.
– "So I'm useless against him..."- Kaminari said.
- "Kirishima-kun would have been very useful against this guy..."- Izumi said. – "But I think Iida-kun and I could take care of him."-
- "Yes, and that's why I'll take care of him."- Iida said. – "We already wasted a lot of time fighting him, you guys need to get on with it before it's too late."-
- "Iida-kun... are you sure about this?"- Izumi asked.
- "Midoriya-san... of the two you are stronger... that's why it would be better for you to keep going in case things get more complicated."- Iida said.
- "Iida is right... if we stop to fight him it may already be too late to save Atanagi..."- Kaminari said.
- "I guess you're right..."- Izumi said.
- "Hurry up and go..."- Iida said. – "I'll catch up with you later."-
- "Okay... let's go!"- Izumi said.
- "Kirishima will soon come to help you!"- Kaminari said.
Without wasting time, Izumi, Kaminari, and Bakugo continue on their way.
- "As if I were going to let you go!"- Roku fires several ropes of chitin at the three who try to leave, however Iida destroys them with a kick powered by his leg engines.
Roku just watches as the other three walk away and then glares at Iida. - "Okay... that's how things will be."- He said. – "You're brave for wanting to take on me on your own... that's why I'll have a little fun with you before I kill you."-
- "I will not let myself be killed... I still have a legacy to fill."- Iida said.
- "You're funny..."- Roku said. – "Alright, let's play!"- Roku throws all his daggers at Iida, who dodges them easily.
As he dodges the last dagger, a net catches Iida's right leg and pins his leg against a tree.
- "I got you!"- Roku said as he shot another web and pinned Iida's other leg. – "It's easy to guess that those engines in your legs are the key to your quirk... By disabling them there will be no problems!"-
Roku fires a spear of hard chitin from his mouth in the direction of Iida, however Iida fires up his engines and forces his legs free and launches himself at Roku, dodging the spear in the process.
- "You're right... disabling my legs is the easiest way to beat me... but that doesn't mean it's easy to do it!"- Iida said once standing in front of Roku. – "Recipro Burst!"- Iida hits Roku with a strong kick that sends him flying and crashing hard into a tree, making a crater in it.
- "Heh... I have to admit that hurt a little..."- Roku said, Iida opens his eyes in surprise when he sees him.
Roku seems to be stuck to the tree with his hands, but that's not the surprising thing, his skin is starting to fall off... or that's what it seems.
- "You managed to break my chitin shell..."- Roku said, when said shell breaks, Roku's true appearance is visible.
Roku still has six arms, but his skin is slightly darker and his arms are covered in various hairs. He now has three eyes, completely red, the two usual ones and a third one on his forehead, lastly, his fangs grew.
- "As I assumed... your quirk gives you the abilities of a spider... doesn't it?"- Iida said.
- "You're right...I've just made some improvements by experimenting on myself."- Roku said.

Roku's quirk gives him the abilities and partial appearance of a spider, six arms, the ability to cling to any surface, three eyes, and the ability to create webs from his hands and mouth.
Due to Roku experimented on himself, instead of spider web he can create hard or flexible chitin.
- "Still... you destroyed my shell sooner than I expected."- Roku said. – "The real fight begins now!"-
Roku creates several daggers again and throws them at Iida again.
This time Iida doesn't dodge the daggers and begins to rotate at high speed thanks to his engines and destroys the daggers thrown towards him with rotating kicks.
Using his engines, Iida launches himself in Roku's direction and attacks him with a kick, but he jumps and dodges the kick which destroys the tree.
- "That was close…"- Roku thought and with that he shoots a ball of chitin which explodes and throws a lot of chitin thorns at Iida.
Seeing this, Iida begins to run, thus avoiding the thorns.
Taking advantage of this, Roku creates a chitin bow with two of his hands and from his mouth an arrow of hardened chitin which points towards Iida and when he stops he shoots it.
To Roku's surprise Iida dodges the arrows and uses his engines to propel himself against Roku and attack him with an ax kick, despite that Roku dodges the kick again.
- "His reflexes are also fast... but there is still always a blind spot!"- Roku fires another ball of chitin which explodes again and fires several spines at Iida again.
Seeing this, and having no room to run, Iida stands on his hands and begins to rotate at high speed thanks to his engines, thanks to this an air dome is created which protects him from the thorns.
At the moment Iida stops, Roku takes the opportunity to shoot another chitin arrow, Iida again dodges the arrow, but that is what Roku wanted since while Iida dodges the arrow, Roku jumps and positions himself above Iida. and attacks him with a dagger.
Iida, seeing this, destroys the dagger with a kick and hits Roku in the shoulder, however this is what Roku expected since when he was close he stabs him in the abdomen with another dagger.
Iida tries to attack Roku but he jumps away. – "Looks like you're not that fast..."- Then, Roku throws a dagger at Iida which stabs him in the back.
Upon receiving the attack, Iida falls to the ground from the branch he was standing on.
- "The fun is just beginning!"- Roku said shooting another chitin ball that when it explodes shoots several chitin spines.
Seeing this, Iida jumps and dodges the thorns, however a few stab into his left arm. – "Sh*t"- Iida thought as he watched Roku shoot several Chitin arrows at him. – "I have to keep dodging until I find an opening to attack!"- Iida starts running to avoid the arrows.
However, Roku does not give Iida time to attack, having six spleens allows him to create and shoot chitin arrows without stopping. – "That's it, keep running!"- Roku fires another arrow and this time manages to hit Iida's back, who falls to the ground after receiving the impact. – "As I assumed... he is fast, but when accelerating at high speeds it is difficult for him to turn and that is why his movement is mainly in a straight line."-
Iida slowly rises from the ground, bleeding from the wounds on his back, arm, and abdomen.
- "What's the matter? Are you getting tired?"- Roku asked. – "You should have realized by now; you can't beat me!"- Roku creates a giant sphere with chitin spikes and launches it at Iida.
Iida watches as the sphere approaches and quickly uses his quirk to hit it with a strong kick. - "Recipro Extend!"- With that kick Iida manages to completely destroy the sphere.
However... – "You fell into my trap; I already expected you to do that."- Roku said appearing behind and Iida with a chitin dagger in each of his hands. – "Let's get this over with!"- Roku plunges all six daggers into Iida's back, causing him to fall face down to the ground.
Roku looks at Iida for a few seconds, he does not move, satisfied with his work, Roku turns around and begins to leave. – "It took me more time to defeat him than I expected... I've wasted enough time, it's time for me to go."- He said.
Iida raises his face and watches as Roku is leaving, using all his strength Iida gets up little by little and brings his hands to the mufflers on his legs. – "I have to force it..."- Iida starts pulling at his mufflers, trying to remove them. – "I have to force it…"-

Class 1-A classroom.
- "Quirk Awakening?"-
- "Yes, this is an important topic so pay attention."- Toshinori said. – "After initial Quirk manifestation, it is possible for the user to undergo an Awakening later in life."-
- "And how this Awakening works?"- Iida asked.
- "There is no specific way to awaken your quirk." – Toshinori said. – "The right emotional catalyst can cause Quirks to evolve on the spot, usually requiring the individual to experience intense feelings of stress, like that of a life-or-death situation."-

Iida finishes removing his mufflers from his legs, thanks to the wounds already received he was able to resist the pain of removing them.
- "The Awakening results in one's Quirk gaining a new level of strength and/or new aspects to its nature that were previously not possible."- Toshinori's words ring in Iida's mind.
Iida begins to walk slowly in the direction of Roku, who walks away from the place. – "I need to force it…"- Iida starts walking faster. – "I… I…" - Iida begins to run while he feels a small pain in his legs. – "I'm not defeated yet!"- Suddenly, new mufflers emerge from Iida's legs and light up.
Roku turns around upon hearing Iida's scream and is surprised to see that he is already in front of him. – "Wha…"-
- "Don't call me defeated yet!"- Iida said as he hit Roku with a very strong kick, making him even spit out a little blood due to the power of the blow. – "Recipro Turbo!"-
The kick sent Roku flying, who crossed two trees and crashed into a third, creating a crater in it.
Iida breathes heavily as he looks at Roku who seems to be unconscious. – "I... I made it." -Iida regains his breath and, despite his injuries, decides to go help the others, however, as soon as he starts running with his Quirk, an arrow pierces him in the right thigh.
Iida falls to the ground and looks in surprise at Roku who is standing but three of his arms are limp. – "You bastard... you broke some of my ribs and three of my arms..."- Roku said.
Iida gets up from the ground with difficulty and jumps to the side just in time to dodge an arrow from Roku.
- "Stop dodging!"- Roku said as he shoots another arrow, having now only three arms he is slower shooting.
Iida again dodges the arrow, this time using his Quirk to get closer to Roku and manages to kick Roku in the stomach.
Roku spits blood but quickly takes advantage of the closeness to stab Iida in the left shoulder with a chitin dagger and then kicks him away.
Iida stands up while at the same time Roku loads another arrow. – "Die once and for all!"- Iida charges at Roku but he manages to shoot the arrow, the arrow goes through Iida's right shoulder and drags him until it hits a tree and leaves Iida pinned against the tree.
Roku breathes heavily as he begins to create another arrow. – "Bastard... I can't believe how hard it was to beat you…"- Roku aims at Iida, however due to his condition it is difficult for him to aim well.
Iida tries to remove the arrow, but it is impossible, it is stuck in the tree. – "I can't... I'm sorry, Midoriya-san, Kaminari-kun, Bakugo-kun..."- He thought. – "Father... Mother... Brother... sorry but I couldn't live up to the family name..."-
- "Tenya, you want to be a hero, right?"- His brother's words ring in his head.

Flashback.
- "Tenya, you want to be a hero, right?"- Tensei asks a ten-year-old Tenya.
- "Yes, brother you are awesome."- Tenya said while doing his classic hand movements.

- "That's impure!"- Tenya said.

- "Don't try it anymore kid, this is over now!"- Roku said as he fired the arrow, however at that moment Iida appears in front of him crouching dodging the arrow, Iida used his engines to free himself from the arrow.
- "I'm not going to give up!"- Iida said as he kicked upwards, breaking Roku's bow in the process, and kicked Roku in the jaw.
After that Iida doesn't give Roku a chance to recover and continues kicking him as they both rise into the air. – "I am Ingenium! And I won't lose!"- Iida said and once several meters in the air he hits Roku one last time with a strong kick. – "Recipro Turbo!"-
The kick was so strong that it sent Roku flying and crashing into the ground, creating a gigantic crater in the ground.
- "D-Dammit…"- Roku said to finally fall defeated.
Iida falls little by little towards the ground. – "Father… Mother… Brother… Did I live up to the family name?"- Those were Iida's last thoughts before hitting the ground and finally falling unconscious.
Like Kirishima's fight against Techno, both rivals have fallen unconsciously, but the absolute winner of the fight is definitely Iida, also known as the Turbo Hero: Ingenium.
