This is an AU story & my take on what should have happened with Elizabeth & Jack. Many of the original events of the series will be included, as well as some that I create. Some of the events will be omitted and others will be changed to fit my story. The timeline of the events have also changed to fit what I wanted to tell. This part 2 and picks up where part 1 left off.

Set in Rhode Island. Divorced and 40, Lucas is finally realizing his dream of being a father, adopting a pair of siblings and owning his own home where they can make all the memories. Elizabeth is a new mother of a two year old sweet girl and owns her own design business. Both have decided they don't need a partner to be a good parent. Or do they?

This story is based on the ending scene from episode 5. This is how I imagine it continuing if Elizabeth hadn’t said goodnight and walked away at the end. The start of the story is taken from the episode.

Jack Thornton moves to Hamilton just before he begins his senior year in high school in this modern day story. His father, Tom, begins work for a shipping tycoon, William Thatcher. Jack meets Elizabeth before school starts. Their first meeting didn't go well. Will this drive them apart or draw them together?

Elizabeth follows Charles back to Hamilton after he proposes to her in the schoolhouse. Charles and Jack think she has accepted Charles' proposal of marriage. Is this all a misunderstanding? Can Jack and Elizabeth find their way back to each other after her indecisiveness? This story is set in the time frame of the show. However, the storyline differs from it.

It's Easter Sunday 1921 in Hope Valley. In hunting for eggs together—and observing two children's masterful teamwork when it comes to securing an egg—Elizabeth and Nathan are forced to confront their feelings for one another, and Elizabeth must surrender her fears. In the process, she is reminded risks are not one-sided, and she doesn't have to take the risk alone.

This story is based on the promo for Episode 6. I wrote the fanfic before episode 5 aired so it may not be in the same timeline as the show but I still wanted to share. Hope you like it!
