Reaper of Rome chapter 17 – battling through the castle
This chapter will cover uryu , chad and rukia's battles in the castle chamber
And will cover episodes 156-160
There will be a few big twists involving both Rukia and Chad's battles as I will have more uses for them as the story goes
Ichigo pov
As I ran, Nel started to tell me that Renji and Uryu were with her friends and Renji was safe while Uryu was in battle but getting help from her skinny friend. The two getting into a fight helped distract the former espada and give Uryu a chance to turn the tables by making her mad. The real table turner was the Quincy showing off his new weapon. He used to say weapon to take the arrancar out even after she released her blade. I could feel a power much Reyna's coming from Chad.
Chad pov
As I battled on, I felt a new power within me. It was like my mother's embrace. Then I remembered my grandfather mentioning that about my father being part of the SDF and my mother was drawn to him due to that. He would say my mother was special and not sure she was really dead. He told me she seemed very special but had to leave me. I also remembered Ichigo offering me a trip to learn who I really was after this was over. I wanted to take him up on that.
It was as I clashed with the former espada I learned I needed more power and began to feel power pool in me, but I needed to tap it. As the power started to pool, I just knew I could die before learning any of that. I knew I needed all the power I could get to live on and win. I hoped my mother truly had one more gift to give.
It was after taking a powerful punch that power welled and burst into shield on my arm. I then explained to my opponent that I wasn't hiding the power, just two powers within me starting to hit a bursting point and I finally gained control with a shield on my right arm.
I could tell from this point on that my power was like a hollow. I then fired a spirit blast from my right arm at the arrancar. He then started to react to the sudden growth in my power as I was able to handle the man with ease now. But soon after that, he released his blade and changed form and gained armor on his back and arms. But my shield was stronger than he could guess. At the same time, power also began to grow in my left arm, and I then knew it this arm was meant for offense. I knew this arm was the left arm of the devil. I then used it to punch the arrancar into the wall. When I did a skull marking was left in the wall. It was after that battle ended; we went through that wall only to meet a hollow that my former opponent told me to run away from. One with a nasty look on his face. I knew I had to fight him and see if my new power was to his level. but my attack did nothing as he attacked me with his blade, and I passed out.
It wasn't long after that, I suddenly felt a light over me. it was a woman that felt like my mother did. Then a female voice said to me "I won't let you die now my son. Not without the chance to share your light throughout Rome." I will help keep you alive for now." She then stuck a piece of candy in my mouth, and I used the last of my energy to eat it. after that I passed out again.
Ichigo pov
it was as sudden as I felt Chad win, that I felt him be defeated. Then I began to run faster to complete my goal while thinking of the pledge as I felt a strange power. it has to be a god, and most likely his divine parent. I only recently figured out he was a demigod but had no idea his divine parent would come to this place to help him. If I had to guess this parent had to be a minor god. But I would have to see when he completed Lupa's training and made it to new Rome.
Orihime pov
It was a few days since I felt my friends alive. The pale arrancar came to my room to tell me Chad was dead. But I felt a power preserving his life. I didn't know what it was. but it was soon after that a servant came to bring be food and the Ulquiorra said "you have to eat and if you don't eat on your own, I will force you. If you throw it up, you will be tied down. your friends will all die soon and if I have to, I will make sure it happens myself." I then slapped him over and then he left and said "I will be back in an hour to make sure you eat the food.
Renji pov
It was as we ran, the two of us hit a fork in the path and soon I met a man in white with pink hair and glasses. When he showed up, he insulted me as he revealed he was espada number eight Szayelaporro and the brother of the arrancar I defeated a few months ago. It wasn't long before the fat hollow landed on me. as the arrancar stared on. then the fat hollow revealed the arrancar in front of us was the scientist of the group. The man then told me "I want to really study Ichigo, Rukia and that Chad boy all three are much more special than you are." I then I responded by releasing my bankai only for it to get blown away.
Rukia pov
I was then face to face with the arancar using the face of my former crush and he swore to devour be soon. but first he unleashed his monstrous sword release and he turned into a mass of tentacles and flesh then said he devoured over three thousand hollows. I then knew I would need something to win this fight.
I wasn't sure how to win this fight, but I knew I had to win no matter what. It was as I was struggling; I heard the voice of Homura saying, "we can win this together let me have control and I can win with the power you never knew you had." It was as the trident pierced me, I knew I had to save Kaen's soul, I knew I needed to do whatever it took to win. I said, "do it, use my body to save his soul from the hell of being controlled by this arrancar." It was then I heard the laughter in my former lieutenant's voice as I blacked out.
When I woke up, I just saw a scene of burnt land and in my head were the words of a hado that what had to be my inner hollow just created I knew it was called Cruel sun and likely only I could use it. I also knew it has to be sung instead of just spoken. The voice of my zanpakuto spirit then said "that girl took over but used your blade to free the last part of Kaen's soul. I would say her soul overtook both her brother's soul and that of the base hollow to form what is now your inner hollow. I would suggest trying to get a new Asauchi to form separate blade to put it her if you can. Also, I felt a strange male presence near the battlefield and that may have been your father. I can't be sure if the hollow or that man helped heal your injuries, but you should rest for a while. It was then a bed of snow formed under me as I passed out again. I then remembered the last promise I made to Kaen and knew I wouldn't die unless it was with Ichigo.
Chapter end
This ended up being shorter than my normal chapters, but I didn't have nearly as much to write this time
Next chapter will have Renji finally get some action while Ichigo is drawn into another battle.
But first team Katerina will make new allies while facing a new enemy that draws them into another lostbelt.
