Over the weekend, many citizens of Halcyon go to have some much-needed fun at the city's amusement park. From coasters to slow rides, to carnival-style games, the park had everything to appease its eager guests.
Wulf and Renamon traverse the grounds of the park, packed in crowds of people and Digimon together. As they walked, Wulf checked his phone for the time. "2:33 PM. Saturday, September 7, 2024.".
"We're doing good on time. Are you enjoying the park so far, Renamon?" Wulf asked, looking up from his phone at her.
"Yes, I am. I'm surprised you checked out a locker to store our bags in. This city is safe, we could've left it at the front entrance, and it would still be there." She responded.
"Well, better to be safe than sorry." He chuckled.
Wulf spotted a familiar sight amongst the crowd as the two continued onward. A black-haired girl with a ponytail walks alongside a few fellow girls. It was Kat, Wulf's girlfriend, though it was fair to say their relationship was rather troubled.
"Renamon, follow me." He quickened his pace through the crowd, determined to reach her quickly. Renamon followed suit, trying to keep up with Wulf until he eventually reached her.
"Kat, it's me, Wulf." He said having abruptly emerged in front of her. Kat was briefly startled as she stood with her friends.
"Wulf? What are you doing here?". She asked.
"Don't worry, I don't mean to interfere with your day out, but I just decided to go to the park today," Wulf explained as Renamon started reaching him from behind.
"Oh, well, that's cool I guess." Kat stuttered. As Wulf glanced to see Renamon behind him, he looked back at Kat and smiled.
"I'm not alone actually." Wulf stood aside and let Renamon be in front of Kat.
"This is Renamon, she's my Digimon." Realizing what he was doing as she glanced at him, Renamon readied herself to talk.
"Hello, I am Renamon. And you are?" Renamon politely asked.
"Her name is Katherine, she's, my girlfriend," Wulf informed her.
Renamon didn't quite understand what he meant. "Girlfriend?" She asked.
Wulf blushed and let out a shy chuckle. "It's a term that a guy like me uses when we love a girl, and they love us back."
"Hm, I see.". She responded. Kat examined Renamon closely, surprised at Wulf now having a Digimon and how stunning she looked.
"Renamon? I've never heard of a Renamon before. Where did she come from? And how long have you had her, Wulf?" Kat inquired, crossing her arms.
Before Wulf could answer, Renamon vowed to answer Kat's questions herself. "I came from the Digital World, and I've been with Wulf for less than a week. I wasn't registered as his partner until yesterday, however." She explained.
This only made Kat more curious about Renamon, but she didn't want to waste any more time in her day. Besides, she could always ask Wulf more at school on Monday. She uncrossed her arms and shrugged.
"Well then, cool to see you with a Digimon, Wulf. Sorry, but I must get going. Talk to you both more on Monday." Then, before Wulf could do anything, Kat and her friends left him and Renamon, walking away into the park crowds.
"Of course." He sighed.
"What happened? Did I do something wrong?" Renamon asked, hoping to have not caused any offense.
Wulf was quick to reassure her. "No, you didn't do anything. Kat is like that a lot.".
"She just abruptly leaves like that?" She questioned. Wulf nodded, and quickly shook his head, not wanting to think any more about his relationship with Kat.
"It's nothing. How about we go do something together?" he asked, wanting to shift his mindset towards having fun in the park.
"Sure, I just want you to be happy, Wulf," Renamon told him, putting her hand on his shoulder. The sudden feeling of Renamon planting her soft hand down on his shoulder made him feel warm.
The whole thing was rather interesting to him. Normally, he would feel alone and empty when Kat left him. But now, he had Renamon at his side, and he loved the feeling of having someone close to him at his side.
As Wulf looked at her and blushed a bit, he smiled. "Thank you, Renamon. That means a lot to me.".
Renamon smiled back as Wulf began figuring out where to go next in the park. He tried peeking above the crowd, attempting to spot anywhere they hadn't been to. Then, one attraction caught his eye.
"There's something we could try." He said while pointing at it through the crowd.
"Tunnel of Love?" Renamon asked, staring dead ahead at it.
"Yeah, it's a river ride. Two people ride on a small boat together." Wulf told her.
"Well then, it sounds quite pleasant. Let's go." Together, they went straight for the attraction.
The line was short, with only about ten people, all of whom seemed to be couples. After waiting less than ten minutes, Renamon and Wulf arrive at a pink-colored boat with a red heart symbol painted on its open door.
After being cleared by the ride attendant standing in a booth, Renamon and Wulf promptly stepped into the boat and sat down. Despite the boat's rather small size, it was able to fit the two together and make them both comfortable.
Then, their boat ride would begin, the wooden boat gently traversing down the tunnel's river stream. Wulf seemed rather oblivious to the possible implications of going on a love-themed tunnel ride with Renamon, as he felt he just needed to get his mind off things fast.
Both he and Renamon stared at the inside tunnel and its designs. Painted on the entire interior wall was a beautiful and elaborate painting of heavenly angels flying across a backdrop of a white clouded sky with purple hues.
Grates installed on the sides poured water out like a mini waterfall. Classical music emitted from the tunnel speakers, not too loud to not drown out any speech luckily.
As the boat slowly flowed down the river, Wulf sighed, much to Renamon's noticing. She turned to look at him slumped in his seat, his feet pressing against the bottom of the boat's interior almost as if he was attempting to break a hole through it.
"Wulf, are you alright?" Renamon asked with a concerned tone, rubbing against him shoulder to shoulder.
"I'm just thinking about Kat again." He moped.
"I can't say I am an expert with love, all I've seen are humans loving towards each other from a distance. But I don't believe it is right for her to act that way towards you." Renamon said.
"Her excuses always change; she's always saying she is either busy or just likes her alone time," Wulf explained.
The fact Kat valued alone time reminded Renamon of how she initially acted when she met Wulf again. She felt guilty but hoped today was making up for it.
"Well, I understand she can do whatever she wants, but she is your girlfriend, and she should be there for you more often. I must repeat, I am no expert, but I believe two people should be together if they truly love and care for each other. If she does that to you, then perhaps she doesn't truly care." With her thoughts on the matter explained, Renamon looked at Wulf, hoping that her words may have cheered him up.
"Maybe you're right, Renamon. Thank you." He felt glad saying.
Renamon sighed. "Perhaps I'm being too harsh on her, I'll see her again on Monday. But you do deserve someone who loves you."
Renamon embraced Wulf in a hug, spreading her soft body on him. He sat there in silence, eyes widened as he felt an even more intense warm feeling.
But he couldn't deny the feeling of being comforted and hugged tight by Renamon felt good. Renamon truly cared for him, and he loved her for that.
He hugged her back, appreciating her presence so much. To him, it was rather funny. Just being with Renamon and getting hugged by her made him feel more cared for by her than he ever felt cared for while with Kat.
"Thank you, Renamon. I'm happy I get to be with you." Things with Kat were rough, but with Renamon at his side, Wulf was starting to feel the happiest he had ever felt in a long time.
