Tomura was hooked up to some high-tech medical equipment as Murder Machine looked over him, typing away on a holographic data keypad connected to Tomura's vitals.
"It seems I have come across an intriguing discovery; you were born Quirkless. You have the extra toe joint and everything."
"That explains the shoes I wear despite supposedly having a Quirk now," Tomura said, regarding both his former [Decay] and his current [Blade & Gun].
"Our brother enjoys overly complicated games. But then again, so does Laughs." Murder Machine noted.
"It does seem weird," Tomura said. "Could Sensei have given me a Quirk and I somehow didn't remember it?"
"Either that or he did and wiped your memories of getting it." Murder Machine said. "I have looked through the databases and an inmate at Tartarus who recently died had the same [Decay] Quirk as the one you had before you lost your hands..."
Tomura's eyes narrowed. Clearly, something was amiss and he had a feeling All For One had been stringing him along from the start before the Dark Knights stepped in. The young villain was then let out of the medical pod and put his clothes back on as they met back up with the other Dark Knights.
"Those who are given a Quirk by All For One tend to forget everything else. What age were you when you accidentally killed your family?" Merciless asked.
"Around six years old," Tomura answered. "Guess in that time, Sensei found me and passed it on to me without me even realizing it...but why?"
"Regardless, you won't have to worry about it." Batman Who Laughs said, patting his protege on the back. "At the rate you're going, I have a feeling you're ready for the next step of your training."
"We must warn you...this coming trial will be painful for you." Drowned warned. "But we have faith that with the progress you made, you will succeed."
Tomura grinned. "Alright then...Game on."
"Friends, I have come across something interesting!" Penny said as she came over to the gym.
Izuku, Ben, Hilda, Katsuki, and Kirby were all working out at the gym when the android girl arrived.
"What's up, Penny?" Kirby asked.
"Ever since the I-Island Incident, I asked Father to give me access to network database information on people from the past 20 years that could possibly match Shigaraki and Kurogiri's descriptions. I haven't found anything linking Kurogiri but I did find something that could possibly be connected to Shigaraki.
Penny's eyes glowed brightly and a holographic projection of a young six-year-old boy who looked similar to Tomura, albeit with black hair and slightly cleaner skin appeared.
"That does kinda look like him...but what changed him?" Ben asked.
"I don't know. His Quirk Registry says he's Quirkless but that cannot be right, there was his Quirk at the USJ." Penny said.
"And the new Quirk he got when he confronted me at the mall..." Izuku added.
"Wait, there's something about that kid," Kirby noted.
Izuku saw it too and quickly took out his phone and called up Toshinori.
"What's up, Young Midoriya?"
"The person who gave you OFA was Nimbus AKA Nana Shimura, right?" Izuku asked. "Did she have any family?"
"She did have a husband, though he was murdered by All For One with help from his brother, The Batman Who Laughs." Toshinori admitted. "They had one son together, but she sent him off for adoption and never had the chance to retrieve him. Why do you ask?"
"I think that son had children of his own. I'm looking at a file for someone named Tenko Shimura, and his listed relatives are an unnamed grandmother." Izuku explained.
"Strange...If Tenko is Sensei's grandson you'd think that would be common knowledge. I'll have Naomasa look into that."
"Seems we got a new wrinkle going on here," Katsuki said.
Hilda nodded. "Yeah...something tells me we just uncovered something big."
Tomura panted heavily, the training that the Dark Knights subjected him to had been brutal, but he just barely pulled through. Despite it all, he felt a sense of accomplishment as he made his way back to the bar, where the newly built League of Villains was hanging out.
"Okay, everyone, we're going on a very important assignment right now. Our benefactor had wanted us to keep targeting UA High School since that's where All-Might is teaching. Might as well make him happy and see if we can't nab a few high-profile targets."
"First off, Sensei wants us to target the Wild Wild Pussycats. They are to be captured alive, as the master desires their Quirks." Kurogiri said. "There is also the one known as Izuku Midoriya, whose Quirk seems to be an extremely powerful and versatile one with multiple facets. Sensei also wishes for us to retrieve Project: Dragoon by any means necessary."
"Question, who or what is Project: Dragoon?" Parten asked with his hand raised casually.
"He is a student in Class 1-A, the same class as Midoriya," Kurogiri explained. "Some of you who have seen this year's Sports Festival may recognize him as Benio Torekuroshi."
"Ah, that guy, the one with the elements who beat up that copycat dickhead and Endeavor's little shit," Nnoitra said.
"Be warned, Class 1-A has a lot of heavy hitters, so we need to do this carefully. One slip up, and our new party may crumble before it's even had a chance to build a rep." Tomura warned. "For that matter, let's discuss the raid plan I came up with..."
Soon the day for the summer training camp arrived for the UA Hero students. Both classes were gathered outside with their luggage, waiting for the buses to arrive.
"During your summer camp, we'll be pushing you to go beyond your limits. Some of you have weaknesses you need to overcome. Others simply need more practice and knowledge of practical application." Aizawa told his students.
"And for those of you looking forward to regular camp activities, don't worry. There will be time for those in between training. But expect to be exhausted by the time you're able to enjoy them." Vlad King advised.
"Man, I've been looking forward to this!" Mina said excitedly. "S'mores, fireworks, swimming, hiking!"
"And we can put all those Home Ed courses from Lunch Rush to good use!" Eijirou added.
Hilda drooled in anticipation. "We can make our own barbecue and curry and other camp favorites."
"Easy there, lardass. You can stuff your fat face when we get there." Rebecca snidely said, patting Hilda's big belly.
"I think I also heard someone say we'll be getting individual training, all designed to push our Quirks even farther," Setsuna noted.
"That's true. Shinso's even getting one-on-one time running from my daughter." Vlad King said.
"Wait, you have a daughter, Vlad-Sensei?!" Ochako gawked.
"She's actually adopted. He found her while she was briefly on the run from the law and was able to successfully rehabilitate her." Itsuka clarified. Luckily she hadn't committed any serious crimes."
"She's actually a really sweet and gentle girl." Mipha smiled. "I actually met her myself out of school."
After an hour on the bus, Class 1-A was confused when the first stop wasn't actually a rest stop.
"Why do I get the feeling we're about to get hazed again?" Kyouka asked.
"Really, Uncle Shota...?" Ben sighed.
Class 1-B's bus wasn't in sight. Instead, there was a black car not far away, the front doors opening.
"Yo, Eraser!"
"Long time no see," Aizawa replied with a bow.
A second later, two ladies in pink and blue cat-themed costumes appeared in front of the students.
"Lock on with these sparkling gaze!" cheered the brunette in the pink costume.
"Stingily cute and catlike!" shouted the blonde in the blue costume.
"Wild, Wild... Pussycats!" The two declared as they finished off their chant in a pose. A young boy with a red hat with horns just stood in the back, looking at the two without interest.
"This is not the place for magical girl cosplay!" Kirby called out. "That sort of thing should only be done at conventions!"
"These are the Pro Heroes that will be working with us during the training camp, the Wild, Wild Pussycats," Aizawa explained.
"No way!" Izuku excitedly cheered. "They're a four-person hero team that specializes in mountain rescue training!" Midoriya declared, "The Pussycats were founded when we were just kids! This marks their twelfth year as a-"
He suddenly felt his Haki go off and dodged as the girl in blue tried to grab his head with a set of retractable claws hidden in her glove.
"Yeah, you probably shouldn't bring up Pixie-Bob's age..." The woman in the pink costume, Mandalay, said.
"I'm 18 at heart!"
Hilda noticed the young boy who had also walked out of the car. The kid was young, maybe five or six years old. And he certainly didn't look like he was part of either the classes or the Pussycats.
"We own this whole stretch of land out here. Everything you can see. You'll be staying at that summer camp over there in the distance." Mandalay explained.
"Then why stop all the way up here?" Ochako asked.
"Only one reason," Ben said. "RACE YOU ALL DOWN THE MOUNTAIN!"
"The current time is 9:30 AM! If you're fast about it, you might make it to the camp by noon!" Mandalay called out. "Kitties who don't make it by 12:30 won't get any lunch!"
"CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!" Hilda shouted as she jumped over the cliff first, followed by Ben and Izuku, the rest of Class 1-A quickly following behind.
"Being Midnight's adopted son, Ben has grown up around UA, so he knows my teaching methods," Aizawa said. "He passed on his knowledge to his classmates to make sure they're prepared for getting hazed."
Pixie-Bob whistled. "Well, good thing I already set up the Beast's Forest."
Mandalay laughed, then leaned over to check on the students. "By the way, since this is privately-owned land you're allowed to use your Quirks as much as you want! And you're gonna need it if you hope to get through the Beast's Forest in three hours!"
"Why does that make me think of our Dungeons & Dragons sessions?" Mina asked as Hilda applied her Full Gauntlet when the class made it all the way down.
"Uh, g-guys..." Minoru nervously said before pointing forward, everyone turned to what he was looking at and saw a giant four-legged creature with no eyes and a wide maw filled with teeth.
"Gentle creature of the forest!" Kouji quickly called out. "We mean no harm to your home and are just passing through! Please allow us safe passage and we will leave you in peace!"
The creature didn't heed the rock-headed boy and struck with one of its forelimbs. Penny quickly flew forward and got Kouji out of the way just in time.
"I don't think this is a natural creature. Not only is it immune to Koda's Quirk, but its skin looks too much like dirt." Eijirou noted.
"They're just golems created by Pixie-Bob's Quirk, [Earth Flow]!" Kirby said. "It lets her manipulate any kind of ground or soil she touches!"
"Guess there's no need to hold back..." Ben grinned before slamming his hands on the ground, causing the earth to shift as the earth monsters suddenly shifted and were pulled toward him, forming into a golem he rode. "Try to keep up, guys!"
With that, Ben and his golem flew off together, charging into the forest. The rest of Class 1-A looked at each other and nodded as Izuku used the [Roll-Roll Fruit] to turn his hands and feet into wheels and allowed Hilda to ride on him, acting as his sentry while the rest of the class got to work on their own makeshift cart.
With some of Sero's tape and some provided wood, the bed of a cart was made. Momo made the chassis and wheels before Mina fixed them on with her acid. Tenya, Katsuki, Oujiro, Eijirou, and Rikidou pulled the cart while Kouji, Kyouka, and Shouji directed them down the safest path. Yuuga, Kirby, Denki, Fumikage, and Mina were the offensive sentries while Momo, Shoto, Minoru, and Topru were on defense. Ochako, Tsuyu, and Sero were in charge of keeping the cart together long enough to get to the base.
It used everyone's Quirks and skills to pull off, but the plan was solid. When everyone was set, the strongest five pulled the cart across the forest floor after Izuku and Ben.
In the end, it was 2:00 PM when the students of Class 1-A finally reached the end of the forest and found the campsite.
"You guys are seriously incredible! It's only 2:30, we were sure it would have taken 3 more hours at least!" Mandalay added.
"I thought you said we'd be done by around noon." Katsuki huffed, wiping some sweat off his forehead.
Mandalay grew a little sheepish. "Sorry, I guess we were going by how long it would take us, sorry. But to do it as fast as you kids did is nothing short of incredible!"
"It seems you've had quite a bit of experience!" Pixie-Bob said excitedly as she pounced toward Izuku, Shoto, Tenya, Katsuki, and Ben. "I call dibs on these kittens!"
Suddenly, a massive fist plowed itself into her fist and sent her flying back with a bloody nose. Everyone stared at Ben in shock as his fist was enlarged into a giant gauntlet of rock and stone.
"S-Sorry, she was giving me bad touch vibes..."
"Has she always been like this?" Aizawa asked.
"It's gotten worse lately," Mandalay sighed. "She's at the age to take a mate, but living in the mountains all the time we haven't really had much chance to go dating."
"Well, Ben is spoken for!" Penny said, hugging Ben's arm.
"Yeah, and so are Deku, Todoroki, Iida, and Bakugou!" Ochako giggled.
"Say, that reminds me; who's the kid with you?" Hilda asked, pointing to the small boy.
"Oh, you mean Kota? He's actually my nephew. He just lives with us." Mandalay turned to the boy. "Don't be shy, Kota, come on over and greet the students. You're gonna be hanging around them for the next week."
"Awwww, he's adorable." Hilda giggled as she walked over. "Hey, sweetie. I'm Hilda Yasakani from UA's Hero Course."
Kota responded with a right straight into Hilda's belly. Kota had been taught how to throw a punch by his guardians, and so he was doing it with full force and correct posture. Hilda was surprised by the punch, but thanks to her training, she was able to use Armament Haki over her stomach, making Kota's fist bounce off it.
"Whoa! Use your words, not your fists!"
Kota waved his hand to shake off the pain before glaring as he stormed off.
"The last thing I want is to hang with some wannabe heroes."
"Oy what, you precocious brat?!" Katsuki snapped as he stepped up beside Hilda. "What would a snot-nosed little punk like you know about who's a real hero and who isn't?!"
Kota looked frightened at the murderous look Katsuki was giving him, but Hilda knocked his shoulder to make him back off.
"Stop it, you're scaring him!" The big beautiful girl chided.
Aizawa quickly cleared his throat. "Go ahead and get your stuff off the bus, students. We'll be having lunch soon. Then you can get a bath and some rest."
As the students all went to do just that, Kota watched them before looking at Hilda, who, despite him trying to punch her, gave a sweet cherubic smile before walking off to join the others.
"Why do they care about heroes so much? What's the point?" The small boy pondered.
"You'd have to ask them. But just remember they're well aware of the dangers of being a hero." Mandalay said as she crouched down beside her nephew. "They just haven't had to see it firsthand, the way you did."
Kota's angry face softened as his eyes began to water.
"I... Miss Mom and Dad..."
Mandalay hugged him. "So do I, Kota. I know you wish they hadn't been heroes. But don't you think it's time you stopped blaming heroes for their deaths, and started blaming villains instead?"
Kota didn't reply, but just cried into his aunt's shoulder.
Later, the boys were enjoying a hot spring bath out in the open air.
"We may only be getting treated for a meal today, but we're being given free use of this bath during the evening once training is done," Denki said in contentment.
Ben noticed Minoru staring at the wooden partition between the guys' side and the girls' side.
"Mineta, don't even think about it." The Elemental sighed. "You don't want to get yourself expelled when you've made such great progress lately."
"The opportunity is right in front of me, my brothers." The dwarfish boy said. "If God sees fit to smite me as punishment for my sins, then so be it!"
Tenya groaned. "I really should be stopping this..."
"I'm actually interested to see how this goes." Sero chuckled.
"It'll be funny to see the girls knock Mineta off his ass," Eijirou smirked.
However, as soon as Minoru was about to reach the top, he was stopped by Kota.
"Why the hell are you risking your life, you little idiot!? If you're gonna stop me from peeping, at least do it down below where you can't break your neck!"
"Wow, Mineta actually making sense there..." Rikidou noted in mild surprise.
Minoru dodged Kota's attempt to kick him down and fell into the water with a large splash. The dwarfish boy was thankfully unharmed for the most part but he was pretty peeved.
"So much for paradise beyond the wall..."
"Maybe learn to be a respectful person first!" Kota scowled.
"Thanks so much, Kota babe!," Ashido called out.
Kota looked to see the girls but turned red when he noticed Mina was largely out of the water. Without a towel.
He wound up falling down to the guys' side in shock, only for a cloud to form underneath him and cushion his fall, courtesy of Ben.
"You see!? This is exactly what I was warning you about! Keeping peepers like me away is fine, but you shouldn't risk your life trying to play the hero!" Minoru snapped, standing up and pointing at Kota angrily.
"Settle down, buddy," Denki said to his best friend. "Even if you do have a point."
Kota growled. "Well, why not!? My parents did, after all!"
This left the boys confused, as well as the girls who were listening in on the other side.
Izuku and Ben quickly rushed Kota to the med station to check him for any injuries.
"Sorry about that. Aizawa warned me one of the boys was likely to try something." Mandalay apologized. "Good news is Mineta's not likely to be expelled or even just reprimanded for this."
"Hey, he didn't try to pull it off again when we left. I guess he was more mad that a literal child was endangering his life." Ben shrugged.
"Kota mentioned something about his parents, and he seems to hate heroes for some reason. It seems kinda unusual for a boy his age." Izuku said.
"Yeah, almost every kid loves heroes! They're up there with outer space aliens!" Ben added.
"Not as much as you think, you'd be surprised how many people don't approve of us. If Kota had a more normal childhood, he might admire heroes. However, his parents were heroes as well." Mandalay explained. "My sister and her husband were the dual heroes known as Water Hose. Two years ago they were murdered by a villain. They were killed protecting citizens, perhaps the most respectable way for any hero to die."
"Oh damn, I heard about that..." Ben said sadly. "Mom was pretty torn up about it herself."
"Yeah. How do you even begin to explain that to a child who just lost his parents? Especially when so many people focus too much on the honor and heroism of such a death... And not on the sadness of losing a loved one." Mandalay pointed out. "Honestly, I think the only reason he tolerates me is because I'm family. He doesn't seem to like the rest of my team that much."
"I see..." Izuku sadly noted, hanging his head.
"Heroes just... Don't make sense to Kota. His logic is that if his parents weren't heroes, they'd still be here."
"That's a child's logic. Normal people get killed by villains every day. There's no guarantee that his parents would still be alive if they weren't heroes." Ben pointed out. "The more rational thing to think is that if villains and crime didn't exist, then his parents would still be alive. But you can't really get rid of evil and crime, can you?"
What he didn't know was that Kota was nearby, just outside the door, listening to the conversation. Tears were streaming down his face.
"Hey, sweetie. You okay?"
Kota jumped and turned around to see Hilda there. Fortunately, she was already fully clothed after getting out of the hot spring.
"W-What are you doing here?"
"I'm sorry to hear about your parents. I can't begin to imagine how painful that must be for a kid your age...but you don't need to keep holding on to this anger."
Kota was surprised when Hilda pulled him into a hug, her blubbery body acting like a warm soft blanket for the small boy as he began to tear up before hugging her back, bawling his eyes out.
The League of Villains are preparing for their big attack and Hilda gets to show herself as a cool big sis to Kota. I hope you like what I did here, because shit is gonna get serious when the League makes their move!
