Chapter 25: Saving Lana

Gwen's POV:

I watched with horror as my daughter collapsed into Uru's arms.

"Uru, what do we do?" I asked.

"I don't know... I don't know what happened... she said she didn't feel good." Uru said.

"Wait a minute..." I said. I looked at the empty pill bottle. I then read the letter that Lana has left on her dresser. I gasped with horror as I realized the letter was a suicide letter. She tried to kill herself. I ran out of the room to find my husband. I saw him, laying in his mother's arms as his mother was tending to the wounds that Miguel had inflicted on him. Jefferson stood guard, ready to attack anyone who dared to hurt him.

"Miles!" I screamed. Miles was startled but recovered and took his headphones off.

"What? What is it?" Miles asked worriedly.

"We need to get Lana to the hospital, now! She tried to kill herself!" I screamed. Miles', Rio's, and Jefferson's eyes widened in horror.

"What?!" Both Miles and Jefferson yelled.

"Yes! She wrote a suicide note! Look!" I yelled, shoving it towards them. Miles and Rio looked at the note that Lana had written. I showed them the empty pill bottle that she had swallowed.

"Oh no. Okay, we are leaving right now." Rio said.

"Get her in my car. I'll start it up." Jefferson said. Jefferson ran out of the room to get his car started. Uru walked down the stairs, carrying Lana by the scruff of her neck. Harry, Ron, and Hermione rushed in on the scene.

"Oh no, Lana!" Hermione cried. Hermione took Lana from Uru. Hermione scooped Lana up in her arms. We all ran downstairs and scrambled into Jefferson's car. The others took seprete cars. I held Lana's hand tightly as Jefferson sped down the road. I lightly planted a kiss on Lana's forehead.

"Don't worry, baby. Help is coming. Just hang on." I whispered quietly. I was trying my best not to have a panic attack as we were speeding down the road. Miles was sweating badly. He breathed heavily. Jefferson tightened his grip on the steering wheel.

"Fuck!" Jefferson yelled as he slammed his hands down on the wheel. Rio put her arm on his shoulder to try to calm him down.

"Jefferson, Mi Amor, please. Try to calm down." Rio said. Jefferson didn't respond. Miles was still breathing heavily. It looked like he was having a panic attack. I took his hand and held it tightly. Once we got to the hospital, we rushed inside.

I carried Lana as I yelled at the doctors. "Help! She swallowed a bunch of pills!" The doctors immediately took action. They put her on a bed and got her into surgery. Lana had to get her stomach pumped. I feel bad because it is going to be a long, painful night for her. Ahadi try to go into the room where they were performing the surgery but the doctors stopped him.

"I'm sorry sir. But you can't be in here." The doctor said.

"Bullshit! Let me see my daughter!" Ahadi yelled.

"We can't do that. Not until after the surgery." The doctor said. As the doctors got to work on Lana, Ahadi was barking orders at them. I can't help but think that this is my fault. I shouldn't have let Miles and Lana follow me that day. I shouldn't have gone to see them. If I just stayed put, then none of this would have happened. They wouldn't have been forced to marry Miguel.

As if reading my mind, Miles grabbed onto my arm. "It's not your fault, Gwen. It's mine. I shouldn't have followed you that day." Miles said.

"No. It's my fault." I said. I had tears streaming down my face. Miles wrapped his arms around me. He kissed me and I kissed back.

"Everything is gonna be okay," Miles said. I just sobbed into his arms. For Lana's sake, I hope it will be.

Miguel's POV:

I sat in the halls of the castle, sharpening my claws to prepare for another round of abuse in case Lana or Miles dared defy me. Lana cheated on me. She had to pay the price. I looked over to Scar to see that he too was preparing another punishment for Lana. I decided to go talk to Lana to make sure she had learned her lesson. Scar followed behind me.

When I got to the Gryffindor Common room I saw that none of our family members were there. We went to Lana's room.

"Lana?" I called when I opened the door. I growled with rage when I saw she wasn't there. I extended my claws. She better not have run away from me. I saw Katie as I walked down the stairs.

"Katie? Have you seen Lana or the others?" I asked her.

"How the hell am I supposed to know?!" Katie yelled. "She better not have run away with my money," Katie grumbled under her breath. Professor McGonagall walked inside.

"Miguel? What are you guys doing here? I thought you went to the hospital with the others." Professor McGonagall said.

"What?" I said.

"Didn't you hear? Lana tried to kill herself." Professor McGonagall said. When she said that, my heart stopped. No, this can't be happening. I already lost my daughter. I can't lose my wife too. Without another word, I pushed past Professor McGonagall and ran out the door. I shot webs from my web shooters to try to make the trip faster. I had to get to her before it was too late.

Scar's POV:

My heart raced as Miguel and I rushed to the hospital. How could my wife do something like this? I got startled when I saw my other wife, Zira following behind me.

"Scar? Where are you going?" Zira asked.

"To the hospital. Lana tried to kill herself." I said. When we arrived at the hospital, everyone was there sitting in the waiting room. Of course, they were furious when they saw us.

"Scar. Miguel. What the hell are you two doing here?" Mufasa demanded.

"We came to see Lana," Miguel replied.

"No. You are not welcome here. Not after everything you have done. Leave. Now." Mufasa said firmly. I growled with rage. How dare he try to keep me from my wife? Nala stepped in between us.

"Cut it out. Both of you. Mufasa is right. This is your fault!" Nala yelled.

"What do you mean?!" I yelled back. Gwen showed me a letter. I angrily snatched the letter from her. My heart stopped as I was reading the letter. The letter explained everything. And I knew I was to blame for my wife's suicide attempt. Regret filled my heart. If I could go back and change the events, I would. But it was too late. The damage was already done.

Miguel's POV:

I snatched the letter from Scar and read through it with panic. No, no, no, this can't be happening. The letter explained that Lana attempted suicide because she was tired of living in fear every day. She can't handle the abuse anymore. The only way to escape the abuse was through death.

"I hope you're happy now! Because of you, my wife is dead!" Margo yelled.

"Don't you think that I already fucking know that?!" I yelled back at her.

"Miguel, she's-" I cut Miles off by slapping him across the face.

"Shut up, Miles! You don't get to speak!" I yelled at him. Hobie stepped in front of him protectively.

"That is not the way we handle things," Hobie said.

"You don't get to touch my son like that again!" Jefferson yelled. "You have already made things hard enough for my granddaughter. I don't need you making them harder for my son either."

Nala stepped in front of me, her eyes burning with rage. "If she is alive, then I will make sure you will not go near her ever again and I will make you regret hurting her," Nala said.

As I opened my mouth to argue back, a doctor walked in the room. Everyone ran towards her. "How is she?!" Gwen shouted.

"Lana is in critical condition. I fear she may not survive." The doctor said. Gwen let out a cry of anguish.

"Do something! Anything! You have to save her!" Ron yelled.

"I assure you, we are doing everything we can to save her." The doctor said. When the doctor left, everyone glared at me and Scar. I know what is coming next. More yelling. More blaming.

"Lana is going to die. And this is all you're fault." Ahadi said.

"When we are finished here I will make damn sure that she will stay far away from someone like you. I will have Dumbledore send you to Azkaban where you will spend the rest of your life." Harry said.

I sighed. The weight of my actions settled heavily on my shoulders. First I have lost my daughter. Now I am going to lose my wife. I would do anything to go back in time and make things right. If Lana survives this, I promise to change, to be a better person towards her, as well as my husband too.

I will redeem myself.

Lana's POV:

When I woke up, I saw I was surrounded by a white scenery with two tunnels at each end. I looked up to notice that there was a woman and a man. The woman had orange curly hair with sea-blue eyes. The man had dark brown hair with green eyes. I have seen these people before. I recognized them to be Harry's parents, Lily and James Potter. I also saw Cedric standing next to them as well.

"Where am I?" I asked.

"We are between realms," James said.

"Lana. Sweetheart, it is so good to finally meet you." Lily said.

"You know Harry adopted me?" I asked.

"Yes. We have been watching over the pair of you. You two have done so well. And I am so proud of you." Lily said. Lily wrapped her arms around me and pulled me in a tight embrace. James joined in on the hug. It felt good hugging my grandparents for the first time. I'm glad to know there are people out there who still love me.

When we finished our hug, I wrapped my arms around Cedric. I sobbed quietly. "I'm sorry you had to sacrifice yourself for me. If I wasn't there, you'd still be alive." I said in between sobs.

"No, Lana. I was willing to protect you. And I'd do it again if I had to." Cedric said.

"Thank you," I said. Lily and James took my hands as we walked down the hallway. Cedric followed behind me. After a while of walking and talking we sat down on a bench. James was the first to speak up.

"Lana. We have an offer for you." James said.

"Okay. What is it?" I asked.

"We would like to give you the chance to return to earth," James said. My eyes widened. Return to earth?

"Or you can come to heaven with us. It's your choice if you want to go back to your family or be with us." Lily said.

"You're giving me another chance?" I said.

"Yes," Lily said.

Without thinking, I blurted out, "I wanna go to heaven with you guys!"

"Are you sure?" Cedric said. I nodded. I can't stand the thought of being on earth any longer where all I know is pain and suffering. Earth sucks. Heaven is better where there is no more suffering. No more pain. I can finally be free. My eyes widened when James projected an image on the left side of the tunnel. The image showed my family mourning my death.

I looked at the other side of the tunnel where there was no more suffering. What should I do? I want to go to heaven where there is no more suffering. But if I do go to heaven then my family will be in pain. They will miss me. I can't bear the thought of leaving them behind like that. After a few minutes of silence, I had made up my mind. I decided to go back to earth, for my family's sake.

"I made up my mind," I said.

"Yes?" James said.

"I want to go back to earth. My family needs me. I need them. I can't leave them behind just yet." I said.

"Very well then," James said. I gave my grandparents and Cedric one last hug before I walked to the other side of the tunnel.

"Bye everyone. I love you all." I said.

"We love you too, sweetheart. We will be looking after you and Harry." Lily said.

I then looked at Cedric. "See you later," I said.

Cedric nodded. "See you later." He replied. The moment I stepped through the portal, everything went black. In seconds, I was back in my body.

I am alive.
