Plot: this animeverse one-shot is from from Taran's -Pikachu's OC son- point of view. It's set he , his father, Delia, , Aiden and and DJ reunite with Ash , Akki and Storm . set shortly after Ash, Storm, Derek, his sister Aki, Jaden, and Sami escape in my Blast From Dad's Past fanfic AAML hints. .warning: some spoilers for that fanfic . I only own the OCs- Storm, Derek, Taran, DJ, AKi and Storm and nothing else.. ( ) have translated Pokemon speech in them. Italics are thoughts and " " are humans talking. DJ and Aiden talk like little kids since they are just four and a half and two and a half years. I also modified a quote said by the late Robbie Coltrane in the the first Harry Potter movie. I will be re-doing DJ's Bad Dream due to this one-shot in the future.

The gloomy cloud that hovered over the Waterflower-Ketchum house for the past few days- not even a week but it felt like forever was gone. it had started when my family's trainer Ash Waterflower-Ketchum and my small mother Storm had vanished a few days previously. The sadness had permeated the house and had really affected my father and Ash's wife Misty along with Ash's mother Delia . I hadn't liked the sadness in the made me feel like I let my trainer down-which to a Pokemon - is one of- if not the worst feelings in the world .

A day or two ago Ash and Misty's oldest son Derek- along with my small Pikachu sister Aki- who had an extremely close bond with him -had vanished. Aki and Derek had vanished a few days ago on a secret rescue mission to find them. - Delia discovered this when she woke up and asked Dad where they were. He said not to worry and not to call the police. She told a dispirited Misty she was taking us to her house after she dropped my father off at the Battle Park- for the few day s- in case who ever took them came back. .

Delia had gotten a call from a hysterical Misty a day or two saying they were back home alive- though serverly injured and weak. The fifty-five year old women had nearly dropped the phone when she heard that but needed to recooperate for a day before seeing us. Delia had automatically ordered at least three big bowls of soup for delivery to the house . Now we- Delia , DJ , Aiden my father and I were on way back home from her house in her car.. Pallet City may have expanded from the small town it was when my fetter and Ash first started out due to the Battle Park, a Cordinater's School, a small stadium . and countless hops and establishments being built. However it was still considered one of the smaller towns in Kanto. She decided to drive us back-despite the fact that she didn't live that far away. I believed she needed something to disract her from thinking about what her son went through.

She , DJ and her little brother Aiden, along with Delia's and my father's moods were a bit troubled in the car . Delia was clutching the wheel of her car tightly as we drove from her house, her eyes on the road. Her hands shook like leaves stuck on a branch in a windstorm . In the reflection of the car's front window I could see the light tan Pokesppeech transfer buds in her ears quivering . My dad gazed out the window as Aiden- wearing a shirt with an image of various Water type Pokémon and capris -stroked his fur from his car seat. .the two and half year old's cherished Psyduck Pokedoll lay across his lap.

I looked up at DJ from my middle seat next to her car seat as she patted my fur. The light brown haired four and a half year old toddler was wearing a tie-dyed blue shirt with sparkles on it and blue capris and tan shoes won it. Her brown eyes were full of concern. I knew she was worried about what her dad must look like after his ordeal. " Taran I'm wore-eed 'bout what Daddy went thwoo ." she admitted quietly , her words breaking the silence in the car like glass

I nodded and licked her hand. . ( i don't blame you .) I admitted. ( I'm worried about him and mom too . I'm also really worried about Aki. )

Dad's ears flicked at my words and he turned away from the window to look at us . I think he was grateful for a distraction from worry about his missing trainer and mate . (I'm with you there son ) he replied softly.- he and Ash shared Aura powers- and he'd been trying to locate him through the bond but hadn't been sucessfull. He was also a bit protective of Aki . It wasn't just because she was the littlest of my siblings and smaller than your typical Pikachu. When she was little, there was a horrible incident and her tail was half bitten off. my parents and trainers refused to bring it up. Since we Pikachus gather and conduct electricity through our tails, my sister lost a huge majority of her ability to store electricity and use electrical attacks. She could only use it in tiny spurts and modified attacks. (Your sister is a fighter she knows how to protect herself with other attacks.. but.) He sighed.

Aiden sniffled as he hugged his Psyduck Pokedoll . "w-wanna see daddy n' 'ki n' 'torm- miss em ."

His grandmother sighed and I could tell she was trying to stay strong for her two young grandkids as her voice wobbled a bit.. "S-Same here sweetheart . W-we'll see h-him soo. We're r-really close to the house. only a f-few- minutes away " . There was no need to say anything els...

Once we got to the house and Delia had parked the car, gotten her grandkids unbuckled and all of us- along with the food she brought in a large shopping bag for our trainers- out of the car , she locked it and we trudged up the small walkway to the medium sized house. The older human stopped at the door, put the food bag diown and got out her spare key to the house. Aiden and DJ noticed their grandmother's hands shaking as she froze trying to put it in the keyhole.

(Delia?) Dad saw the hand shake.

"Gwams?" Aiden questioned.

"Are you okays?" DJ asked .

"Y-Yes DJ .. I'm just-just.." she trailed off. My father and I looked up at the brown haired older woman- and then back at each other. She 's both nervous and scared about what Ash looks like on the other side- how badly injured he is .

( Worried.) Dad nodded as if reading my unspoken thought. He licked Delia's free hand and she looked down at him. . (I know what you're feeling Delia. I'm feeling the same but you have to be strong. You can do this. Just take a minute or two to compose yourself- Ash Misty , Aki and Storm need our strength and our comfort .) he told her quietly.

She nodded. "Thanks Pikachu."

She closed her eyes for a minute or two and did some deep breathing . When she reopened them her hand had stopped shaking. "Okay.. " she said and then knocked on the door and asked loudly. "Ash? It's Mom, Pikachu , Taran and the kids . Are you well enough for us to come in ?"

There was a weary sounding reply of "Yes.. Come in." from the other side of the door The reply made my father's ears perk up at the sound and tears trickled out of his eyes. He wiped it away with his forepaw.

She properly got the key into the lock, opened the door, and opened it - then after she brought in the food , she closed the door . Our gazes went right to my mother , sister and Ash who were in the hallway by the stairs and time seemed to freeze at least or it seemed that way to me. I heard Delia utter a tiny gasp - her hands went to her mouth- and the food bag in her hand dropped to the floor with a clang echoing loudly in the silence." Oh.. my Arceus…"

Her " Oh my Arceus.." exclamation of shock was well justified. . My trainer stood about ten feet away from us wearing a plain white shirt and light grey exercise sweats that cut off midway that didn't truly hide the countless partially healed injuries dancing over his body. He looked a lot thinner and I could smell a bad infection on his right shoulder and medical cream and salv over his wounds. His right arm was in a sling and he leaned on his orange-redheaded wife for support . His dark brown eyes looked older than they should but they brightened as they saw us.

My gaze slid from Ash to my mother and Aki as I took in their injures next . Holy freaking Miltank what in the world happened to them?. like Ash they were covered in bruises. My small Pikachu mother held one front paw tenderly against her side . She had a semi-faded dark ring mark around her throat like something had been around it and countless injuries that had been somewhat healed . Aki looked like she had been somewhat healed after a massive heck of a battle. I saw cuts and wounds shining underneath half healed patches of red on her fur. I smelled the scent of medical scents on the wounds- more on my mother than my sister-as well as the scents of Dora Oak and her kids Sami and Ryan.

I don't know how long we stood there taking the sight of them in. It was was probably just a few minutes but it seemed Ash looked at us and said "Hey kids.."

My mother's eyes went wide she saw my father and I. (My ..boys..) she rasped.

Those four words seemed to make time resume to normal . As if it were some kind of signal , DJ ,Aiden and I rushed over to our now found respective parents and in my case . The two young humans didn't care about their father's thin, beaten appearance, the multiple wounds scattered about his body or seeing his right arm in a sling. They were just ecstatic he was back home and in one piece-for the most part. DJ bolted like a running Zebstrika and buried her head into her father's right pant leg crying as she repeated, "Daddy! Daddy!" while Aiden dashed wrapped his hands around the other leg crying " Dada back ! Dada back ! "

My father nearly tackled his best human friend and trainer to the floor by jumping into his good arm. He rubbed his fur against Ash's skin and covering him with licks as tears ran down both their eyes. He didn't dare to lightly shock him due to all the wounds . however Delia had automatically gone into overbearing mother mode as she rushed over and hugged him gently - carefull of both my dad and her son's injuries. She was crying over and fussing about the injuries. I didn't blame her for worrying-she was very protective of him as he was her only child-thus her entire world.

In the meantime I bolted up to my injured mother and sister. (Mom! Aki!) I cried repeatedly in happiness as I licked and nuzzled them. (You're home!)

Mom let out a cry of happiness as she licked me all over . (Taran ... my boy. I .. thought.. I'd never see you agian I..missed you ..so much ) she whispered hoarsely. Aki brushed her fur against mine and nuzzled my fur.

After a while, my father jumped down from his trainer's arm to the floor. ,He froze when he saw the appearances of my injured mother and sister . His yellow fur started went paler than a Pichu's f and then started sparking in agitation or a few seconds . (Oh my great Arceus. Storm.. Aki). He rushed over to us and started giving them licks. Nothing mattered to us and we lost track of the time . Our blended family felt complete again.. almost . ... But there was still one human missing- Derek.

After a while, babbling broke out between all of us :

"Where were you? Where's Derek? "

(who in the world did this to you?)

(papa! Papa!) Aki told Dad. (I kept my promise. but I.. I ..I did s-something un-un-unforgiveable .I- I .) she stopped and just cried into his fur.

(it's okay sweetie. ) he reassured her tenderly and quietly . I think he must have figured out what she did with his Aura powers. (You did what had to be done. It's not your fault at all..) he murmured into her fur

Huh? He caught my mother's eyes as DJ and Aiden detached them selves from their father's pant legs and went over to where we we were . They sat down Their parents followed them . They started stroking my mom and Aki,saying words of comfort.

"Oh Ash.. what in heavens ' name happened to you? "

"Daddy who took you an' Storm ?"

"Dada.. Why lotsa boo-boos on you n' 'Torm n' 'ki?"

My gaze ping-ponged to Ash to my sister and my mother and back again . I saw a flicker of something in their eyes. It looked haunted like they did something…terrible. . what did happen to them?

After a few minutes my father tugged at our trainer's pant leg. (hello.. earth to Ash. come back to Earth. your kids need you. ) He paused and said the questions on everyone's tongue. (Where did you and Storm go and what in the Legendaries' name happened to you? Where's Derek)

The room got silent at those words. Ash looked down at Dad then at all of us . His face looked worn and beaten - much older than it really was and he was quiet for a few minutes. "I- I know you are wondering what happened to me. The wounds. And memories are too ... fresh to explain it all .I'll tell you a vague explanation of what happened,." He motioned for us to follow him into the living room. He winced in pain a lot as he did.

I noticed DJ slightly flinch as her father winced in pain . She had very minimal Aura powers but she could tell her father was in great pain from his injureies .she bit her lip . "Daddy.."

. "Honey … Y-Y-You're wincing a.l-lot. "Delia noted- her voice wobbly . I detected worry in the late fifties year old woman's voice. "A-are you sure you're okay?"

"I'm fine Mom.. don't worry ,, ." he reassured her.

He got to the couch and sat down. The humans sat next to him while us Pikachus sat on the floor. He took a big breath and his wife squeezed his hand. "You can do this baby. I know you can."

Taking strength from this , he looked at us in turn and took a few breaths before talking. "First - and understand this, everyone because it's very important - not all people I ran during my journeys when i was younger into were good. Some of them were bad. There was an extremely dangerous enemy I ran I was in Sinnoh who had it out for me. She was a cruel Pokemon hunter-"

" Whata pokeymon huntah?" Aiden asked .

" Pokemon hunters are very cruel mean people what steal rare Pokémon for other people. The hunters have no honor and will do. - " he gulped "W-Whatever it takes to get their prize. They will hurt any one-human or Pokemon who gets in their way " Ash explained in the easiest way he could could for the two and half year old.

Aiden shivered and buried his head into his mother's shirt for a few seconds-as if the thought of someone hurting a Pokemon or human was beyond terrifying. . "no wyke. Scare-wy. "

His mother ruffled his hair. "Nobody like Pokemon hunters , pumpkin . . They are very bad people."

Her husband continued. " I had some .. tremendously awful experiences with a really .. cruel Pokemon hunter when I was in Sinnoih the first time. I stopped this first time from stealing Pokemon through ..a different way. S-she had a machine that turned Pokemon into stone to sell on the black market . S-She succeeded in getting at l-least three turned into stone .. ." He trailed off

We all gasped. Dad's fur shivered as if he knew exactly who this Pokemon hunter Ash was talking about was. Dad definitely had a bad history with that person I thought. his black eyes went wide as enlarged Ultra Balls for a few seconds as he let out out a little gasp. ( You don't mean who I th-think you mean -) he said quietly.

Ash nodded and Dad gulped and stood frozen in place for a minute or two (Dad?) I asked. (A-are you okay?)

He shook his head as if it were water droplets on his fur he was trying to shake off and not awful memories- for few seconds then regained his composure .(I'm fine Taran… just .. unpleasant memories) he replied.( Go on with the story Ash.)

Our trainer resumed the story. " I and my friends stopped her. Because of this.. the hunter held quite the grudge against me. After our last encounter at Lake Valor I believed her to be.. gone after her ship was hit. I hadn't thought about her in decades..But I was mistaken. She.. attacked and took Storm and I , wanting revenge for the past and also for - " he shuddered. "a-another reason. But soon she realized that Storm.."

(\Wasn't me. ) Dad finished and our trainer nodded, indicating he should continue. (When she realized she had the wrong Pokemon, she t-tortured you both.. She sent this horrendous threatening note for Misty and I to come by a certain time to the Overgrown Forest or- or ... ) He trailed off and my fur prickled as I got a feeling as to what the note had implied . He turned to my sister, pride in his eyes . ( but Derek and someone with the courageous spirit and heart of a Legendary saw the note before Misty did and with Sami and Jaden's help decided to mount their own rescue mission. )

My mother then took up the storytelling- her voice still a bit hoarse so she had to pause a bunch. . ( Th-the woman tortured the two of us. When Derek and Aki came.. had hideout in.. hidden gym .. in the Overgrown Forest. With barriers .. protecting it from prying eyes es and.. wandering minds. Made us wear Dream Mist bands... . K-kidnapper l-left ash in center of battlefield.. tied up and gagged .. ) she paused for air . Dad nuzzled her and licked her cheek. Taking strength from this she licked him back.( thanks sweetie. Derek and Aki showed up and.. untied Ash.. kidnapper came out out w-with me- with tons of wounds on me and paw.. hanging loosely. had a knife at my throat She th-threatened my l-life if they did ..anything to escape .. ) she shivered . We all gasped and my father's fur bristled with anger for a few seconds. ( sh-she forced Derek into a... battle against her ... g-genetically modified Dark Dragonite. )

"A Dawk Dwagonite ... wh-what's that?" DJ asked.

(a pp-owerful black hued cold-hearted Dragonite that nearly beat me to a pulp.) Aki explained and then paused. (okay.. I stand correct. it , it nearly beat me to a pulp until..)

"'til what?" Aiden prompted.

The small Pikachu smiled and her black eyes sparkled . ( Until I made it faint with Volt Tackle and Thunder . ).

At her last four words, Misty , Aiden, DJ, Dad, Delia and my eyes went as big as maximized Pokeballs and we all talked at once.

" Volt Tackle? but how- "

"How were you able to use Thunder-"

" Hows?"

" How did you do it Ki?"

( holy Pokegods!)

Dad stared at my sister's beaming face then to her distinctive half tail and back again amazed .. The majority of it had been bitten off , so she really couldn't use electricity. Pikachus rely on their tail to gather electricity and for balance. Not to mention it took a lot of electricity for a Thunder attack . It also took loads of practice and concentration to learn Volt Tackle. How in the name of all the Pokegods did she manage those attacks with her half-tail? ( I.. can't believe it. but how in Arceus' name... ) he was at a loss for words.

"Maybe you gots someone watching over you . Like n' The Pyroar King?" DJ suggested, refering to an animated movie where as a you Liten , the main character believed hie and not his power hungry evil uncle caused his fathers death. However his fathe's sprit was watching over him the whole time - from his exile a trainer finding the young Pokemon and training him to the now-pyroar returning to reclaim his territory .

(Maybe.. ) Aki replied . ( It's possible .. I don't know how it happened myself.. the Dark Dragonite had really beaten me up M-mom was speaking to that.. person or trying to - I don't if she could understand her- and it was like I knew what i had to do and my .. disability couldn't stop me.)

" it was a true miracle. " Ash admitted, smiling briefly - his dark brown eyes beaming. " the hunter wasn't done with us .. She brought out a large .. creature so menacing and vile I can't even call it a Pokemon. The creature .. tired out aki and was about to do ... something terrible to Derek when Jaden and Severus saved the day. They brought a Pokémon to help- a young female Growlithe . in the end.. the Growlithe saved him but then he- he.. " he broke off. I saw a cloud of pain and unease show up in his eyes and he bit his lip.

DJ looked over at her dad concerned. - she'd felt his pain with Aura." Daddy?"

"Wh-what happened to Derek?" Delia prompted .

Misty squeezed his good hand and kissed him."Ashy.. you can do this. You're doing great-you're almost there. I know it's hard for you .. you've got this., honey It's almost over.."

Dad jumped up onto his lap and nuzzled his good arm and then licked it for a minute or two. As if their actions provided him with strength and hope, his eyes lost the cloud of unease and became normal again , " thanks . I needed that." he took a deep breath and composed himself. "the .. creature was about to poison the Growlithe- who was still standing despite being badly hurt during her fight - with this extremely dangerous strange Poison attack I'd never heard of before . Jaden, Aki and I.. we were too scared to move or do anything ."

"but Daddy you're neber scared ." DJ pointed out.

He smiled briefly at that comment. ." Oh peanut... I may seem like nothing scares me but . even I get scared sometimes . just like anyone else .. i don't show it too much. Anyways.. where was I?"

( the .. creature was about to attack the Growlithe..) I told him .

" thanks Taran." He shivered once as if he didn't want to say his next bit I saw tears form in his eyes "He-he went right in front of her and-and took the a-attack for her . Sh-She said he'd only have fifteen minutes.. " Our jaws dropped and it was so silent i could everyone's hear beat rapidly for a few seconds.

"thankfully Sami flew in with Apollo on Terra and subdued the... creature and evil person ..However right before they did that D-Derek fainted . "

"Wh-what h-happened to him?" Delia asked, her eyes full full of horror at learning what her son and oldest grandson had endured.

"W-we managed to get into the air on Terra - Apollo made a Light screan Barrier bubble around Derek . but the evil hunter wasn't too far behind us. We sent Apollo with Derek and J-Jaden to the hopsital while we .. " Ash hesitated "t-took care of the cruel person "

I gazed up at him before looking at my mother and sister - All three of them had a haunted look in therir eyes. I felt a chill ruffle my fur as I realized what Aki had meant by saying she did something unforgivable. oh my Pokegods. they - they . I saw my mother give me a slight nod as if she confirmed my unfinished thought about what they had done. I hid my suspicion well in the back of my mind in case DJ sensed

Delia, Dad, Aiden DJ and I all gasped. It was so still for a minute or two could hear everyone's heart racing in the still silence. " ash.. honey..please tell me Derek will survive . " Delia's brow eyes were filled with tears on the verge of falling out .

Tears fell from his eyes and he wiped them away with the sleeve of his good arm. "I.. I honestly don't know Mom.. Terra nearly crashed at the Oak's lab if it weren't for the Harrison girls and then Gary had to take me to the hospital after I fainted on the ground." He smiled slightly " The hospital did call earlier today saying we could go see how he's doing and due to the blood loss he's in a coma like state. But he's tough "

"I'll check on him tomorrow. " Misty said. "I'm sure he'll pull through- he's a fighter . "

Delia sighed with relief and wiped her eyes with her sleeve . "He's way too much like you in that respect ." Her son grinned.

(Derek does have your blood in him Ash and he almost takes after you in personality and near identical looks … ) Dad pointed out. ( So in essence he is a mini you.)

"Well.. okay. I'll admit Derek and I are pretty similar with that ."

" And your enormous appetite , and stubborness . " Misty pointed out. "What's the saying again ? Like father like son?"

He grinned. " Guilty as charged. " He paused for a few minutes. "On a much happier note. " he looked at all of us , light coming back into his eyes. " wWould you like to meet the brave Growlithe who helped save Derek ,. Storm and I?"

DJ, Delia , Aiden Dad and I nodded eagerly and all said yes at the same time as he clumsily got a dusty battered looking Pokeball out of his pocket with his left hand and minimized it . He was about throw it into the air with his uninjured hand-clumsily-when his wife stopped him. " Ashy… I don't think that's a good idea with your injury. You're right handed... remember?"

"Oops. I forgot. "

She sighed . " Yo're a doofus."

He smiled and kissed her . "Your doofus."

DJ tugged at her dad's tee shirt. "Daddy. can I twy? Pease?" She blinked up at him . "I wanna be twainers."

His eyes softened-he could never say no to her- as he gently pressed the Pokeball into her right hand. "Okay peanut. Just be gentle. Unfortunately you don't have a hat on so you can't do my signature Pokeball throwing pose ."

Misty rolled her eyes at this last bit ."oh brother.. It' Bad enough you've got Derek copying it .."

" I'll do my best ." She nodded. She tucked a strand of hair behind her left ear then threw it the air, where it opened up split in two as she callled out, " I chooses yous. "

We watched as the energy inside the ball emerged and formed into a small, bright orange and black striped female Fire type dog Pokemon a few feet away from the couch. She had a short rounded muzzle, rounded ears-one of which had a v shaped nick in and a tiny fluffy tail. She had shiny black eyes and a tuft of fur on the top of her head. Her belly, tuft of head fur and tail were cream colored.. She blinked around as the Pokeball returned to DJ's hand. The Growlithe blinked and sniffed a few times as she nervously sniffed around a few times looked at all of the new faces as she came up to the couch, curious about the new smells. She sat down next to us and looked up at Ash who appeared to know why she was there.

" Don't worry girl . These people and 'Chus won't hurt you . " Ash reassured her. "Rmember how Mist and I said there were some other members of the family that you would be meeting? People and Pokemon I'm sure you've heard Derek talk about?"

(uh-huh.) the Fire Type Pokemon said softly .

" Well these are those people." He then then gestured to Aiden and DJ and Delia, who looked at her curiously . "I just told them about you saving us from that.. person. Flamie, I'd like you to meet Derek's Siblings- DJ and Aiden and my mother Delia. ".

They all smiled and greeted her. "Hello dear."

"DJ waved her hand. "Hi Nice to meet yous."

"H-Helwo." Aiden told her.

she returned the greeting with a wag of her tail sniffing the air around us and then evidently deciding we were nice she wagged her tail . (Hello. you all smell very nice like baking spices , vanilla, flowers, and strawberry-scent shampoo and conditioner. )

"you can' smell that? " DJ asked Flame who nodded.

" you smells me?" Asiden question

She nodded. (yup. My species has a very strong sense of smell.)

Then he turned his warm gaze onto my father and I . "And those two Pikachus are my first Pokemon Pikachu and his son and Aki's brother Taran. "

Dad and I each placed a front paw out so she could sniff them for a few seconds and get our scents .. ( Thank you for helping Derek, Ash and my daughter. and mate ) Dad told her.

( The pleasure was mine. ) she said and she licked his face . Dad laughed and we all joined in. She licked us with her warm tongue. I laughed.

(Welcome to the family. You're gonna love it here.) I said.

(Y-You want me to stay?) The Fire type looked about the room. My trainers nodded.

" Wanna pet doggy!" Aiden cried out.

" Me toos!" his sister chimed in.

" you can . But did you see what Pikachu and Taran did with their paws ?" Misty asked her kids and they nodded . " you need to to do that so she can see you're not going to hurt her. "

"'Kay. " Aiden agreed as he and DJ got off the couch and extended a hand each. Flame stopped licking my father and I and came over to sniff the young kids' hands . Within minutes, she was licking their faces as they gently petted her, laughing. Delia had gotten off the couch and knelt on the floor petting Flamie, who seemed to enjoy the touch.

There was joy in her eyes and she didn't seem as nervous as she was before.(her Aura is full of love. ) Mom commented. ( she seems .. extremely happy.. )

( she does dosen't she?) Aki replied. (i don't she's had one in a while .)

(A hug?) i pondered.

Aki shook her head (A loving home and a loving family .)

I saw Ash and Misty kiss each other and pull each other into a a loving embrace, their eyes full of love.
