Plot: a cute animeverse one shot about our fave Pallet City family as they decorate the Christmas tree and recall some of the their ornaments' back stories . I own nothing but my OCs. Narrator: it's mid-December in Pallet City aka the renamed Pallet Town. Snow is falling from the sky outside. Ash and Misty Waterflower-Ketchum are about to take part in an age old holiday tradition with some of their Pokémon and their -three kids-ten year old Derek, nearly two year old DJ and newborn Aiden,: decorating the Christmas tree . let's take a closer look ..

The atmosphere inside the house was a festive one. Sparkling decorations glittered and shined in various places in the house, making it warm and cozy . The family had done their best to make the house look festive for the holiday season . Now only one thing remained to be decorated- the nearly six foot tall pine tree . "O'menz! O'menz!" nearly two-year-old DJ squealed with delight She wore a red tee shirt with an image of a Stantler wearing a sparkly Christmas scarf on it and a green skirt .she toddled after her messy black haired father as he carried a heavy cardboard box into the living room.

Ash- who wore a red checkered long sleeved tee shirt and navy pants-peered over the edge of the box at his daughter. " that's right pumpkin. There are lots ...of ornaments in this box. " he groaned as he put the box down on the start of the rug and caught his breath.

He looked over at his wife and sons who were over by the tree in the corner of the room and smiled. Pine needles were scattered around the tree 's bottom and His eldest son Derek- who wore a white short sleeved tee shirt with paint splotches splattered over it and red and green words saying 'I can explain..." and blue jeans along with Pikachu and Taran, Aki- Pikachu and his small mate Storm's pups - were trying to pick them up. Storm along with his wife's Corsola's stood on her hind paws and helped with the tinsel on the bottom. His Bayleef used her Vine Whip to place tinsel at the top .

Misty- wearing a big red spit splattered blouse and green sweats - sat next to them and held their nearly month old son Aiden in her arms. Red-brown haired Aiden- who eyes were lslowly starting to wore a white onesie with red and green snowflakes on it. and gurgled happily as her azumarill Tidal and kindhearted Dragonite Aurora sat entertained him by doing funny faces.

.. "A little help?" He asked the room at large.

Misty looked over at her coal haired husband and rolled her viridian eyes. "I thought you said you were set with help honey."

" Um. ... " He felt his face redden. " I ..am. I just don't want to throw out my back."

She rolled her eyes. "Don't strain yourself Ashy. "

"I wasn't planning on that. It just seems heavier than last year,' He said as he bent down and put the box slightly aside.

That's because your mom added stuff from y her house for the bed and breakfast tree to it.) Pikachu told him.

" Oh right..."

DJ tugged on her father's pant leg. " Dada I helps . Pease?"

He smiled at the little girl as he stood up. {I'm so glad she already had her terrible two stage earlier this year when Mist was pregnant with Aiden }. " That's nice you want to help, peanut but this box is really heavy and we're gonna save it to bring Grammy's house."

"Kays."

"Hey DJ" Derek called over to his sister. " Want to help the me with this box?"

"Yea!" She cried with glee and toddled over to him.

. (I'll move it for you.) Bayleef offered She turned around and used her Vine Whip to move the box from him to the other side of the room by the door .

" Thanks." He told her.

He walked over to the others, who found ornaments and shiny plastic baubles underneath the tinsel in the other box they and were putting them it on the tree.

" Momma why do we gots meeny O'menz?" DJ asked.

" Some Ornaments are just fun." The pretty orange redhead explained as she took a glittery plastic snowman out of the box and showed it to her infant son. " Like this one for instance. Look at the shiny snowman Aiden. "

Aiden squealed in delight at the sight of the shiny ornament and tried to grab it with his chubby little hands but failed. She gave it to Tidal who put it on a high branch.

(or this one) Aurora reached into the box and pulled out a small hanging ornament of a Dewgong wearing an enormous red Santa coat and hat and a colorful scarf.

Derek smiled as he saw the figure in the dragon's hands."Isn't that from the Cerulean City Christmas Fest a few years ago?"

Misty nodded. "yup. Remember when we went there and we saw Dani in that play "

The boy nodded as he recalled watching his oldest cousin Danielle in her play on ice . The devoted intensity that he saw her performing her jumps , leaps and amazing skating tricks was just like his devotion to Pokémon ." yeah.. Dani's as devoted to her skating and performing as i am to Pokemon battling . i mean she's incredible at it."

(Well practice does make perfect.. after all one can't learn tough attacks in a single day . ) Aurora said as she gave the figure to Derek who placed it on a branch in the middle of the tree.

(Too true) Corsola admitted.

" look woarwy.." DJ exclaimed as she dug a plastic glittery chilly looking Dragonite wearing tons of gloves and a big lopsided winter hat on one side

Everyone laughed at the sight of the ornament. "thats a great one" Misty told her daughter as derekmputbijyo a branch.

. "Some ornaments can also bring up good memories, " Ash added as he knelt down to face his daughter as he fished a small figurine out of the box. He brought up his prize and his face blushed.

"Hey Mist ... remember this?" He dangled the ornament in the air by the silver ribbon it was on. Everyone stopped and stared at the ornament.

" Whaf that ?" DJ asked as Misty blushed. It was a small gold framed picture frame of the two of them looking extremely happy showing off her engagement ring with red hearts on the side . On the top were the words 'we're engaged ' in big silver letters on the toon followed by the date on the bottom.

"Of course I do ashy, how could I not?" Responding to her daughter's question she said. "That's

from when Daddy asked me to marry him. It was a very sweet proposal. " she recalled how he did it after Kris' attempt to kidnap her and Derek- whom she was in early pregnancy with at the time.. "This way the memory can last forever .

" That's a fabulous one ". Derek said

(So wonderful.) Aurora and Storm stated.

" Pwettys." DJ said .

(So beautiful) Aki complimented.

(That's a great ornament) Aki's father said.

" Thanks." Ash told them as he placed it on a high branch.

(Look at this one) Taran pulled out a pair of tiny bronzed baby boy shoes on a hook from the box and held it up as high as his little paws could.

"Great find Taran. Those were Derek's first shoes." Ash told the little Pikachu as he took them from the mouse and placed them on a branch.

Derek looked at the tiny shoes-he couldn't imagine being that small. "My feet were that tiny?"

His mother nodded, shifting Aiden so he could see. "Yes sweetie ... but your appetite sure wasn't. I wonder whom you got that from. ." She looked at her husband who grinned.

Then DJ dug out a her own bronzed baby shoes on a hook. "My soos!" She said proudly.

Everyone grinned. ( yup.) Politoed and Corsola told her.

(Those are yours all right.) Storm smiled.

Everyone remarked at the ornament. DJ's parents looked at each other lovingly. Due to the facts she was overdue and small and what Misty had gone right before she was born , they were a bit worried about how she would develop. But their worries soon vanished- for she was a very intelligent toddler for her age.

"I puts up."

"Okay peanut. But if you can't reach it I'm sure Tidal can help you Mommy's feeding your brother .." Ash told her as he looked over at the Azumarill . Tidal walked over to them since Misty was sitting in a chair breast-feeding Aiden..

The toddler tried to reach up to a high branch about midway on the tree to place it but couldn't. She pointed to the branch. " up tide pease?"

( I'll help you put it up. ) Tidal said as he carefully lifted the little child up so she could put the ornament on the branch.

The Water Type Pokémon then put the little girl down . "Fanks, " she told him.

(Anytime.)

(Look at this one) Storm had her paws clasped around a circular pictu with lightning bolts on the border and a yellow ribbon with a picture of her five pups when they were Pichus.

"I remember that one …" Misty said, smiling. The five Baby Pokémon were different as could were be . easy going pacifistc Zapp-who had a tuft of head fur sticking up- was playing with Aki - who was the smallest of the siblings and Taran. Electra and Thora- who were always competing were trying to look tougher than the other. Alas Zapp , Electra and Thora had left with their own trainers but the family still got updates on them from time to time.

Me too." Her husband agreed.

(I got a perfect spot for it) Aki took the frame from her mother and stood on her tiptoes as she placed it on a branch.

Ash found a Psyduck ornament in the box and dangled it in front of his wife before place it on a branch. "Oh look Mist. It's your favorite Pokemon of ."

she groaned. " shush Ashy. he is such a pain and gives me such a headache. He's not the smartest Water type

(I agree.) Bayleef added.

" I wike Ducky ." DJ stated. "He silly."

"But dense." Derek said.

"I agree he's the dumbest Water type of mine but he did save the day a few times.," their orange red-headed mother told them.

(But Papa, didn't you tell Tar and I that only happened when he got a big enough headache?) Aki asked her father who nodded.

(Yes. He doesn't' t remember what happened after his headache is gone) Pikachu told her. (But like Misty just said, he did save the day a few times .)

(He may not be the most intelligent Pokémon but he's…sort of smart ) Storm told them.

"Yet after all these years he's not smart enough to know how to swim ". she grumbled and then gazed at her husband, "and someone refused to get him."

He chuckled nervously. "Hey, in all fairness you were the one who wanted Water Types".

"Well how was I supposed to know he-"

A light appeared from a Pokéball above Corsola and it materialized into Misty's dumb Psyduck.

She looked up and groaned .(Not again….)

The light formed into Psyduck who fell on Corsola's spines, crushing his poor pink and white teammate to the floor . Everyone else sighed . . He cried out in pain. ( owww! Something bit my butt again.)

He rolled off Corsola who got up .(ooh that's gonna hurt.)

"Psyduck.. How many times do I have to to tell you not to pop out of your Pokéball ?" Misty groaned.

(Ten?) the muted yellow colored Pokémon asked. Everyone groaned and then he looked at his trainer. ( stay out?)

The orange redhead sighed-. "Okay ..you can stay out and help .Politoed can you assist him carefully ?"

(Sure thing, Misty). The green and yellow frog Pokémon went over to his not so smart teammate and explained what they were doing.. a few times.

Ash bent down to the box and found a multicolored paint and glitter splattered plastic Christmas tree. . He showed it to them before handing it to Derek to put on the tree. "Remember this one champ?"

Derek looked at it closely then saw his child-scrawl at the bottom. " Think so Dad. Didn't I make this in school? "

Pikachu and Storm nodded. (You sure did,) his dad's first Pokémon said.

Storm smiled. (Your hands were covered in paint and glitter when your mom picked you and Sami and Ryan up that day) she added.

(You and Sami tried to shake glitter on Zapp, Taran and my fur.) Aki put in . Bayleef chuckled at the memory.

Derek placed the ornament near Aiden who was done feeding . " Look at the shiny tree.

The infant giggled in delight. They found lots more ornaments from a painted Stantler with a shiny nose- "Oh look Derek. It's your Rudolph the Red Nosed Stantler" Misty remarked, to snowmen to of Ash and Misty's wedding to pictures of the two kids with their friends and family. Ash got red in the face when they found an ornament Delia had slipped in the box that contained a picture of him in his PJs right after he received Pikachu.

Derek took out a small glittery bright -hanging frame with the words 'best friends forever ' from the box and smiled. The picture was of a sleeping three-year-old Derek next to a small Pikachu with a blanket over her backside on the couch.

" What do you have there Derek ?" His dad asked.

He turned to show it to them and a flicker of sadness briefly passed through his parents' and the two older Pikachus' eyes. " It's ' Aki and I after her... incident. ". He said.

" Wha' inn-see-dent?" DJ asked and her parents looked at each other unsure of how to answer this

Bayleef was the one who answered for she knew her trainer tried to avoid talking about it. (When Aki was little... something bit her tail half off.) The Grass Type stated the lie Ash Misty and used for seven years.

"Oh. " the little girl stared at Aki's half tail. She had inkling it wasn't the real truth but accepted the explanation. " do you 'mem'r it ki?"

The little Pikachu shook her head. (…No.)

{good thing that memory wipe still is in effect} Pikachu thought as he licked his daughter's ears.

It was quiet for a few minutes as the two adults, Pikachu and Storm remembered what had really happened that fateful day. Ash got the last ornament out of the box- a bright yellow Starmie shaped tree topper. DJ and Aiden's eyes went wide. "hey peanut, do you want to put the Starmie Star on the top with Bayleef helping you?"

"yeah!" the little girl jumped up and down excitedly. "pease?"

"okay. sweetie, " He handed DJ the star and nodded at Bayleef. "easy does it girl. "

she rolled her eyes at him. (I you're too protective.) Bayleef knew why he was protective of his daughter . Two Vine Whips came out of the necklace on her neck and wrapped tightly around the little girl's middle. (hold on tight. Up you go.) she lifted the girl into the air up to the top of the tree.

"Kay, heres I go." DJ said as she carefully put the tree topper on the top of the tree and Bayleef brought her into Ash's open arms then retracted her vines. the family stepped back a few feet and admired the tree. Though one side had a lot more decoration than the other side of the tree it seemed like a perfect tree to them.

"the tree looks great Mom and Dad." Derek said

"yeah…" Misty said as Aiden gave a little burp.

"Santy' gonna love this," DJ said.

"yup… ." Ash started, his dark brown eyes twinkling.

" Sam and Jade will love the tree." Derek stated referring to his two best friends in the world -Sami Oak -his dad's goddaughter-and Jaden Smyth.

" They definitely will." His father said . Jaden Smyth was Jesse and James' second child and Derek's second best friend after Sami. The couple-who had to undergo surgery to alter their appearances-ended their immense fierce hatred of him years ago when he and Misty saved each others lives when Derek was very little.- They and their two kids had moved to Pallet City a few months after DJ was born. . He and his wife had helped them out after they faked their deaths and when they were setting up their home and shop in Pallet City. In fact Misty was Jaden's godmother due to them saving his life when he was still in his mother's womb - but they hadn't told him just yet . He looked at his wife and she smiled . "I don't think we've introduced Aiden to them yet- well Mrs. Smyth has met Aiden since she helped deliver him. but not the rest of her family . You kids want to go surprise them with Aiden?"

Derek DJ, Aki and Taran's eyes lit up . They loved Sami and Jaden's families. " yeah!" The two kids said excitedly.
