Today's Friends

Android 18 or as she goes by now, Lazuli is up at 8 in the morning looking around in her house for her brother. "Lapis, where are you?" She sighed in annoyance. "If he thinks he can get away without paying me back then I'll kill him." The Cyborg pinched the bridge of her nose trying to calm her anger thinking where could her brother be.

*Knock* *Knock*

Lazuli turned her head towards the stairway leading to the front door. 'Trunks?' The Cyborg thought sensing his suppressed energy. 'Why's he here?' She shrugged and headed downstairs. 'Maybe he knows where Lapis is.' She opened the door to see the long lavender haired warrior in a opened capsule corp hoodie, white undershirt, black pants and his usual yellow leather boots. "Trunks, good morning."

"Morning" Trunks said as he scratched his hair. "So, I'm guessing you're ready?"

Lazuli raised an eyebrow. "Ready for what?"

"Your... shopping?" He asked and sighed.

"What?"

"Didn't Lapis tell you about our fight?"

Lazuli put a hand to her chin. "Yeah... took hours to get him to shut up about it." She wondered what that had to do anything about this, slowly she was connecting the dots.

"Well, he and I made a bet and since he won, I have to help you with your shopping trip." And he was not looking forward to a full day of shopping with her, not that he had a problem with spending time with Lazuli, just the idea of following her carrying her bags. He was confused when he sees the platinum blonde give widened eyes. "Is something wrong?"

Lazuli clenched her fingers into fists, they shook. 'That little...he is so dead!' It's no wonder she couldn't find him sleeping in bed, he must have left some time earlier and went on another of his road trips so she couldn't force him to keep his word. And what's worse is that he kept quiet about that stupid bet. She got out of her thoughts and looked back at Trunks who was now giving his own confused look.

"So, did Lapis not tell you?"

"No he didn't." Lazuli sighed, it's ok, she can fix this. "Look, I'm sorry that my brother dragged you into this, you don't need to go with me if you don't want to."

Trunks really wanted to take her up on that offer, but he was just too honest, so he had to make a counter offer. "It's alright, I don't mind, I mean a deal's a deal, so I'm willing to go with you." Though he'd rather be training than this, but he made a bet and lost. He needed to own up to that whether he liked it or not.

Lazuli started playing with her golden hair a little, she wasn't sure about this. She spent time with Trunks before but only occasionally when she visited with Lapis challenging him to a fight, she's never had time with him alone, not that she didn't want to, she just didn't know how to. It's true that she doesn't really see his hidden angry stares anymore but she still found herself nervous around him. She took a look at him up and down. 'It would be nice to get to know him better.' Even though he told her of his acceptance that didn't prevent her from losing confidence in herself close to him. 'Better now than ever.' She made up her mind and did one of her rare smirks. "Well since you insisted."

Trunks nodded remembering Lapis's warning that it would take the whole day. 'That had to be an exaggeration.'

(-)-(-)-

Trunks had to take those mental words back, they were at the first store in town and he's been waiting on a bench for three hours. He was already carrying numerous boxes of shoes she wanted to purchase, he wonders how Lapis could put up with this. 'Who spends this much time looking at shoes?' He thought seeing Lazuli trying on some black high heels. He was warned by his mother that woman loved to shop but he didn't think Lazuli would enjoy it this much. 'And I have to wait till sundown for this to end.' A sigh escaped his lips, almost regretting offering to fulfill his end of the bargain.

Lazuli looked down at her feet in her heels and looked to Trunks. "What do you think of these Trunks?"

Another thing is that she always has to ask him how she looked in shoes, with a quiet sigh he answered as usual. "They look nice."

The woman looked down at her heels and shrugged. "I don't think I like them." She said taking them off and putting her usual boots on.

"Do you usually ask your brother his opinion to?" Trunks asked aloud.

"No" Lazuli said. "Why would I ask my brother how I looked to him?"

Trunks raised eyebrow. "What difference would that make?"

She rolled her eyes at that. "Would it be weird if your mother asked you how she looked in clothes?"

Trunks thought of that and blushed in embarrassment. "R-right, my bad."

Lazuli smirked, a slight giggle escaped her lips. "Come on we have a couple more aisles to go through."

"More aisles?" Trunks complained already holding a dozen boxes of shoes.

"Of course, Lapis did warn you how long my shopping trips take didn't he?"

'He did, and here I thought he was just exaggerating.' The half saiyan groaned as he continued following Lazuli close behind carrying the dozen pairs of shoes she planned to buy.

(-)-(-)-

A few more hours later Trunks and Lazuli we're leaving the shoe store. 'We can go at speeds faster than the speed of sound and yet she prefers to slowly take her time studying almost every shoe in one store.' Trunks mentally groaned as they were walking to Lazuli's parked car. 'Speaking of speed, why does she have a car?'

"Load the shoes in the back please." Lazuli asked/ demanded answering his question.

'Makes sense.' Trunks did as she asked and turned to her. "Guessing we're not done yet?"

"Course not we have a few more shoe stores and then a few other clothes."

A grave expression showed from the lavender haired warrior "Course"

"Hey I gave you a way out, not my fault you didn't take it." Lazuli noted with her usual attitude.

"I know." Trunks agreed, he only wanted to fulfill his end of the bargain, he lost a bet and needed to fulfill his promise whether he liked it or not.

"GROWL"

His stomach growled attracting the attention of all the bystanders, making him blush a second time.

Lazuli's eyes widened she's never heard a growl that loud from even wild animals. She looked around at all the people staring and giggling. She covered her face and sighed in annoyance. "This is embarrassing."

"More for me!" Trunks growled.

(-)-(-)-

The duo were at a restaurant, Lazuli was properly eating her meal while trying not to pay attention to trunks inhaling everything in sight. Lazuli's eyebrows twitched, at least Lapis shows manners when he eats "Do you always eat like this?"

Trunks looked up from his food, his mouth full of various foods, making Lazuli fight not to gag. Knowing better than to show what's in his mouth he swallowed his food. "Sorry, can't help it, it always feels like I've never eaten when I'm hungry." He said embarrassed.

Lazuli rolled her eyes at that. "I'm guessing this is a saiyan trait." She said staring at all the empty plates and bowls, any ordinary human would have vomited if they ate less than half of food Trunks had consumed. "Geez, how does your poor mother have enough money to feed you?"

"Being the richest family in the world helps." Trunks stated as he was eating some steak.

"Must be nice." Lazuli stated dryly, she'd like that kind of money, she stirred her drink with her straw. "Which reminds me." She brought up looking at all the empty plates in front of Trunks's side of the temple. "I hope your not expecting me to pay all this, just because Lapis dragged you here."

He swallowed his steak. "Not to worry, I brought my own money, mother didn't want you have to pay for anything other than your clothes." He stated as he kept eating his various meals.

Lazuli smirked. "You know, you could save up some money for some of my clothes." She stated earning a glance to her instead of on his current plate. "Lapis's paycheck isn't quite enough for my tastes."

Trunks swallowed the food in his mouth and narrowed his eyes at her. "That wasn't part of our bet."

Lazuli kept a devilish smirk on her face. "True, but you have plenty of money, not to mention it's only fair since I didn't hear about this bet even though it involved me." She stirred her drink again before taking a short sip. "Don't I deserve something?" The cyborg asked keeping her smirk.

Trunks could see the mischievous hidden behind her crystal eyes, she's using his conscience against him for her benefit. Clever but very deceitful, he suppose he could pay for her, he brought more than enough money to fill his appetite, so why not? "Sure I guess." He gave in.

Lazuli smiled sweetly. "Thank you." She said taking another sip, glad that she used her brother's bet to benefit her. "Which reminds me, how did Lapis beat you?"

The half Saiyan sighed. "He had a couple new tricks." He explained how her brother bested him. Lazuli was having a hard time believing that her brother beaten someone like Trunks, someone who could beat that monster Broly, and yet Lapis actually had concocted a technique to drain him of some power.

"It's hard to believe that moron actually used his head." The girl chuckled. "It's no wonder he challenged you a week after his last lost."

"Yeah, I knew he had a trick up his sleeve, but I didn't think it would be enough."

"Well he was always pretty steamed that he never had a win after being freed." She pointed out.

"I imagined he would be." He agreed. "Must have felt how I did, my first ever win was against Frieza and Cold when I had to time travel."

Lazuli gave a blank stare to him. "Still having a hard time believing that." sHE stated as she stirred her drink with her straw. "Space travel I already knew about but time travel is kind of a stretch, don't you thinK?"

Trunks shrugged. "Well, there's the dragonballs, which can grant any wish you'd like, isn't that less believable, I mean at least time travel is based on science, while dragonballs are based on magic."

She thought for a moment and nodded. "True"

"Which reminds me, I'm surprised that you didn't know what dragonballs are." Trunks brought up putting some chicken in his mouth and swallowing. "I mean didn't Dr Gero give you everything Goku and his friends got through after destroying the red ribbon army?" He asked. " Almost everything they did involved the dragonballs."

"He did." She answered. "Dr Gero just never bothered with putting any data on them, he always thought that anything involving magic was complete nonsense, even though his ex boss Commander Red believed in it he never cared for it becaused it was based on legend." She stirred the straw in her drink. "I didn't recognize the dragon Shenron, none of his spy bots likely found it during any of the wishes that we're made."

Trunks nodded. "I guess that makes sense, and a good thing." He stated putting a hand under his chin. "I'd hate to think what he'd wish for."

"Then let's not." Lazuli stated not wishing to think about the dirt bag. The Cyborg looked at Trunks wondering how to start another conversation with the half saiyan. She wanted to get to know him better as a person, other than the disgusting eating habits he was displaying, she side-glanced away from him with a disgusted look. She then thought of a topic. "So what have you been doing since Broly?"

Trunks looked up after again swallowing his food. "Just the normal routine, train, help mom with some of her inventions, and sometimes go hiking with 16." He stated remembering when 16 offered him to tag along walking through forests. It was actually quite fun, not exciting but really peaceful, with the trees and animals which he took a liking to since his childhood.

Lazuli raised an eyebrow. "You help with your mother's inventions?"

The young man nodded. "Yeah, ever since I was a kid, I had a habit of figuring out how machines worked." He scratched his face, embarrassed at admitting that he's a bit of a techno geek.

Thankfully she didn't see it that way, she just smiled. "Well it's good to hear there's brain to match your brawn." She said with a smirk making him chuckle. She wasn't just being nice either, she never liked over muscled idiots filled comepletley with ignorance. "And here I thought all you do is train."

"Well I used to, when I was old enough to walk, Gohan started teaching me how to fly and basic martial arts." He said starting to play with his food, he had a fond look at the memories he had.

Lazuli starts to feel bad, a slight memory of Gohan appeared in her head. "Trunks I-"

"No" Trunks stated with a smile. "I've already told you, it's in the past, and it wasn't your fault."

Lazuli was silent for a few seconds, she just watched him going back to eating in silence not even disgusted at it, she knows he doesn't blame her anymore but still she felt bad about it as she remembers destroying the last of the original Z- warriors.

"Anyway" Trunks began trying to change the subject. "What have you been doing lately?"

The girl smiled more than glad to go on with it. "Shopping, dancing, and training with Lapis."

"Don't you train with him so you could have him go dragged to help you shop?" He raised an eyebrow.

"Actually I train on my own, but for sparring matches I charge a price with him." Lazuli said with a smirk.

"Wow" Trunks chuckled. "That's kinda harsh."

She chuckled. "Well, he never wants to spend his money on anything useful, he just buys ammo for his gun when he's working."

"Still hard for me to picture him as a park ranger." He stated.

Lazuli took a sip and said. "He was always more of the outdoors, I prefer the city life."

"Is that how you were before Dr Gero... ya know." Trunks asked carefully thinking he was treading on dangerous ground.

She shrugged showing him she wasn't bothered by the subject. "Don't know, never had much memories of my old life, and never felt the need to look back."

Trunks nodded as he listened, he ate the last of his rice out of his bowl and looked to her. "You want anything else, I'm pretty full now."

"Finally" Lazuli stated looking at all the bowls. "The busboys are going to be busy tonight."

"Yeah" He then looked to their waiter heading their way. "Check please."

After paying for their meal the two left the restaurant, Trunks had a satisfied smile and at the same time a feeling of dread having to more of Lazuli's shopping.

(-)-(-)-

Trunks had his arms filled with bags containing all the woman's outfits, if one word could be described for the look on his face it would be bored and immense wishing to be somewhere else. The half saiyan was just following around Lazuli like a servant. 'Next time Lapis, next time you are so dead.' He thought as he kept walking to follow the petite girl.

The cyborg grabbed a dress and smirked over to Trunks. "I'll be trying this on, wait here."

The half saiyan nodded and sat down for another showcase of her clothing. A sigh escaped his lips. "Wonder how Lapis has the patience for this." He said waiting for the girl to try on her outfits.

Lazuli walked out wearing a red blouse with blue jeans. "How's this?"

"Very nice." Trunks stated automatically.

"Again?" She tilted her head. "Ya know a little more feedback would be appreciated."

"Yeah well I'm not good with fashion."

"So you can't say anything better?" Lazuli asked making Trunks looked more confused. "Can't you at least tell me how good I looked in all of them?"

"Well" Trunks began as he scratched his hair with a blush. " I think you look good in all of them."

A light blush appeared on her cheeks as well, she shook her head making it vanish and her usual smirk came out. "Was that so hard."

He merely sighed. "Yes, it was very embarrassing."

Lazuli merely chuckled at how the strongest fighter in the universe looked cute when he's all flustered. Then her blush almost came back at that thought, she started walking back. "I'm going to try another outfit."

"Sure" Trunks groaned as she no doubt had fifty other outfits to try on.

Lazuli was in the mirror looking at herself in her outfit and thought a bit about Trunks. At lunch she was starting to know him on a personal level, and she wanted to get to know more about him. She looked at all the outfits she had ready to try on and try to have him admire her to satisfy her ego. She supposes she could just try these clothes at home and move on.

Trunks sees the changing room door open and surprised to see Lazuli standing there in her usual outfit. "Done already?" He asked confused thought she would wear another different outfit.

The cyborg nodded. "I think, I've tortured you enough." She said sarcastically.

This made him feel bad. "Lazuli I wouldn't call it torture I just-."

"It's fine." Lazuli stated then gave off a smirk. "I've seen you flustered at most of my outfits."

"What I-" Trunks began to fluster and tried to suppress it. "I don't fluster." He said bluffing.

Lazuli chuckled, despite her cold exterior she had to admit that Trunks was cute when he blushed. "Come on." She said walking to the cashier with the outfits she wanted.

"Wait we're done?" The lavender haired warrior asked, hoping for this to be the end of the shopping spree.

"Not exactly." She said smirking at Trunks's groaning.

(-)-(-)-

Trunks was putting all of Lazuli's bought clothing into her car and looked to her. "So where to now?"

"Nowhere in particular." She replied getting a confused look on his face. "I just like to take a walk, don't worry shoppings over." Funny she never thought she'd be ok with saying that.

The lavender head nodded. "Alright, I guess." He replied and started walking next to her through town.

The duo were walking side by side, Trunks eyeing Lazuli. 'It feels so strange, I remember when I used to want to destroy her.' He thought remembering most of his life long hatred for her and Lapis. 'But now, I'm out with her, talking to her.' Ever since the SSJ 2 transformation he felt so much better, no longer clinging to his anger. 'If someone told me I would make friends with either of them, I would have just taken that like a bad joke.' And that's putting it heavily mildly.

"Does it feel strange?"

Trunks looked to Lazuli with a raised eyebrow not knowing what she meant.

"This" She replied as they walked the side walk. "Before your battle with Broly, it was hard to stomach us being in the same room." She brought up the past. "Now here we are, walking like nothing happened."

Now Trunks sees where she's getting at. "Well it's a good thing isn't it?" He asks. "My anger was misplaced, you and Lapis know that." He then scratched his head. "Aren't you glad that it's all over now."

"Of course I am." Lazuli insisted as she played with her golden hair. "I like being friends with you, it's just that it was a bit sudden." The platinum blonde explained. "I mean it happened after beating Broly, I like to think that you've moved on, it's just that it feels like it happened too fast."

Trunks sees where she's getting at, he did display anger when he was keeping his distance from them even after spending a year in the hyperbolic time chamber he still couldn't bring himself to let go of all that he's seen, but thanks to Gohan and his father's intervention he was able to move past it and gain a new level of power on top of it.

"I get what your trying to say Lazuli." Trunks stated as he stopped and grabbed her left shoulder. "But it's true I really have moved on, I had a year to think about it and another in the hyperbolic time chamber." He stopped for a moment when he still sees the sad look on her face. "When I got out of the chamber I realized that while me and Tarble we're training, you two were keeping the earth safe, the longer I was inside the chamber the more I realized that I was holding something against you that was out of your control."

Lazuli liked hearing him say that despite the blank look on her face, she gave a light smile. "But doesn't it feel strange?"

"It does." Trunks admitted. "But it definitely feels better than expected, it's nice getting to know who you really are." He doesn't notice her blush as he's looking away to hide his own. "Does it feel strange to you?"

The Cyborg thought for a moment. "A bit, but I think it's a nice new start." She stated. When she decided to go by her name before her 'remodeling' she felt alive, so in control of her life, more than she did with Dr Gero's programming. "I like getting to know you to." She stated, chuckling as she sees his cheeks reddening. "It's also good I have that kind of effect on you."

Trunks's eyebrows rose, not sure what she meant. "What are you talking about?"

"It's nothing." She said chuckling at the blush she sees on his face. "Well I think that's enough fun for today." She began back to the direction to her car.

"Wait what?" Trunks asked hard to believe from what Lapis told him her shopping trip would have been longer.

"I've gotten all the shoes and clothes I needed for today." Lazuli said. "So feel free to go home, unless you want a longer ride in the car."

"Well alright." Trunks said surprised that it was still the middle of the day, the shopping trip felt like forever. "If your satisfied."

"I am." Lazuli stated. "And you know, your more fun to have around then my brother." She gave off a sweet smile. "Would you mind if we do this again?"

Trunks's eyes widened, part of him wanted to say no not wishing to go through her long shopping trips again, but that smile that used to scare him now looked hard to resist and felt a desire not to disappoint. "S-sure"

Lazuli nodded. "Talk to you later Trunks."

"Right" He said as he turned around and began walking away.

Lazuli did the same.

Both contemplating their time with the other.
