KorCan: A Walk Down the Aisle
Matthew smiled, glancing towards Yong Soo as they both made their way down the aisle. Yong Soo smiled back, before looking down at the girl – no, young woman – walking between them.
At twenty-three years of age, their little girl was getting married.
As they brought her closer to her soon-to-be-husband, they both saw the memories in the other's eyes.
They remembered going to the adoption agency, trying hard to adopt a child. They kept encountering problems, like heterosexual couples getting preference, or mothers that had placed their children up for adoption changing their minds. And then finally, finally, they were allowed to take home a little baby girl.
Parenthood had been… interesting, to say the least. No matter how many books they read, nothing could have prepared them. And that was fine. Experiencing it for themselves was the best way to learn.
The day when they had to explain to her why she didn't have a mommy and instead two daddies… that was an awkward day. They had to explain to her that she was adopted, and also that her birth parents had given her up. She had been saddened, and for a long while, they thought that they had lost their little girl. They tried to show her that nothing had changed, that they were still her parents.
Things had been rocky for a long time, and they tried to show her that they loved her deeply. She had found out about it in kindergarten, but it wasn't until her fourth year of primary school that she told them that she was one of the few people in her class that came from a happy home. One of the few kids who didn't have parents fighting with each other, or who hadn't split up. For that, she said that she was grateful.
When she was in high school and they deemed her old enough, they helped her find her birth parents. The only one they could find was the mother, who had been reluctant to see them. She explained that she had gotten intoxicated at a party, and a few days later had been puking her guts out. She would have had an abortion, but didn't have the money, and adoption was the only other solution.
Yong Soo and Matthew were horrified to hear this, but their daughter remained calm. Their hearts melted when she said that the woman had only given birth to her, and wasn't her mother. Matthew and Yong Soo were her real parents.
When she had introduced her boyfriend to them, they were a bit caught off-guard. It was getting difficult to remember that she was now a woman, and not a little girl anymore.
And when her boyfriend had asked the two of them for permission to marry their daughter, they were sure that they were going to cry. They didn't want to lose their little girl, but had to acknowledge that it was time to let her go.
And when she told them that she wanted both of them to walk her down the aisle to give her away, they felt overjoyed.
As they went to take their seats, watching the marrying couple, they couldn't help but feel proud. The result of their lives together was standing there, ready to begin her own life with her new husband.
Both men cried, out of sadness, and out of joy.
So I was asked for KorCan with 'human AU where they're older and walking their daughter down the church aisle and reflect a tiny bit'. The requester also specified that they wanted it to be a surrogacy because they weren't fond of mpreg, but I intended for it to be adoption from the very start.
