GreFin: Black Eye
Heracles jumped in surprise when he heard a loud crash coming from the bathroom, along with Tino's pained cry. He hurried as fast as possible, throwing the door open.
He immediately found Tino on the floor by the sink, his hand covering the left side of his face. Heracles tried to go towards him, only to notice that the floor was wet. So as carefully as he could, he made his way to his boyfriend's side.
"What happened?" Heracles asked.
"I slipped," Tino said, smiling wryly.
"…Let's take a look."
Heracles coaxed Tino to reveal his face. He winced when he saw that the skin right beneath the eye was already swollen and a bit darker than the rest of Tino's face.
"That's going to be a shiner," Heracles said.
Once Tino was dried and dressed, he was sitting on the bed with an icepack pressed against his eye, sulking a bit.
"You know, you have to admit, it's kind of funny," Heracles said.
"You think this is funny?" Tino asked, revealing the ice pack.
Heracles winced, as the skin was now completely bruised.
"Okay, not really," Heracles said. "But the way you got it…"
Tino huffed, placing the icepack back.
…
"What do you think?" Tino asked, holding up a package.
Two days had passed since Tino's accident, and the two of them were at the grocery store together. Heracles looked at the package of potato bake before shaking his head.
"No, not that," Heracles said.
"Oh, okay then," Tino said, before placing the package back and looking for another flavour.
Heracles glanced away, wondering if he should go and look for something else when he noticed another customer looking at them. The customer quickly looked away, but Heracles had noticed the disgusted look on the other's face, and wondered what that was about.
"What about this?" Tino asked.
Heracles quickly glanced at the new package that Tino held up and nodded his head. Tino placed the package in the cart before going to the next section of the aisle, looking for something else. Heracles idly placed his hand on Tino's lower back, and another customer walked into the aisle.
This time, Heracles clearly saw the dirty look that the other threw him. Was the stranger homophobic?
When they entered another aisle, Heracles paid close attention to the other customers. Soon enough, all of them had a dirty look on their faces, all of them directed at Heracles. While Tino received a look of sympathy from one of them.
Heracles glanced down at Tino and immediately saw the black eye. That was when he realised that the other customers thought that he did it.
Tino was oblivious as he searched for the groceries, and Heracles wondered how he could clarify that he was not abusing his boyfriend.
"Is something wrong?" Tino asked, looking up at Heracles.
The Greek shook himself, and he placed a small smile on his face.
"No, it's nothing," Heracles said, quickly placing a kiss on Tino's temple.
Tino looked confused, but shrugged. Unfortunately, the display of affection didn't ease the looks the other customers were giving Heracles, and in fact seemed to worsen it.
"Is there anything that you think we should get?" Tino asked.
"A bath mat," Heracles muttered.
Tino cocked his head to the side, and nodded his head as he smiled.
"Alright," Tino said.
As they continued their shopping, Heracles couldn't help but see all of the dirty looks that the other people were throwing him. And nothing he did seemed to help. When he threw his arm around Tino's shoulder, placed his hand on the small of the Finn's back, simply held his hand… He realised that it made him look controlling and possessive, which did not help his situation.
"Seriously, what's wrong?" Tino asked.
Heracles bit his lip.
"I think… everyone thinks that I'm abusing you," Heracles said.
Tino frowned, before looking around.
"Why would they think that?" Tino asked.
Heracles didn't say anything, merely gestured towards his eye. Tino's eyes widened and he chuckled.
"Not so funny anymore, is it?" Tino asked.
Heracles bit his lip.
"You know that I would never do something like that to you, right?" Heracles said timidly.
Tino smiled, standing on tiptoes to peck Heracles on the cheek.
"I know," he said tenderly.
The prompt is: 'Imagine A of your OTP (the less physically strong of the two) has gotten a black eye because they've had a silly accident, and B can't help but laugh at how ridiculous they look. One day, while going for a walk the two of them, B starts noticing an alarming amount of dirty looks fixed on them, the strongest-looking of the two. What happens when they realise they're actually being mistaken for an abuser? Does A notice B is feeling uncomfortable/uneasy/overwhelmed or does B have to deal with everything on their own? Afterwards, is B constantly reassuring A they would never ever ever do something like that until A is just fed up/genuinely intrigued with B's constant displays of affection/worry over their wellbeing?'
