ScotIce: Horoscope
No matter what, Alistair just couldn't figure out Emil. The guy was full of mystery. And just when he thought that he had solved the mystery, a new clue appeared that contradicted everything he had known so far.
He'd said as much to Emil, who only laughed in response. But it was true!
For example, Emil said that he was a picky eater, and yet he ate things that made Alistair want to run to the nearest bathroom and empty the contents of his stomach. And another example was the fact that Emil could be shy one minute, and then completely outgoing the next.
It just didn't make sense.
Alistair sighed. He was in a bookstore, looking for a gift for Emil. He saw that they had already packed out the horoscope books. It was always interesting.
He made a grab for one of them, before he paused. Many people dismissed this as superstitious nonsense, but there was some truth in it, especially when it came to personalities.
He tried to remember Emil's birthday, before looking for the book that would correspond. He grabbed it, and he couldn't help but notice which one it was. He barely paid attention to anything other than his own zodiac sign, so this might be interesting.
…
"I finally figured it out," Alistair said.
He and Emil were meeting up at a restaurant. Emil frowned.
"What do you mean?" he asked.
"I finally figured out why I can't figure you out," Alistair said. "You're a Gemini."
Emil stared at him for a moment before he groaned.
"Don't tell me you believe in that stuff," he said.
Alistair brought out the book and smirked.
"'It is likely that most Gemini individuals would consider themselves to be uncomplicated and easy to understand. 'What you see is what you get' seems to be a statement made extremely often by those born under this zodiac sign. It isn't at all true. On the contrary, the Gemini nature is multi-faceted, cranky and often obscure. In short, you have more skins than a Spanish onion'," Alistair read.
Emil blushed slightly.
"S-so what?" he stuttered. "Everyone is like that. You can't rely on something like that to…"
"Geminis can also be blunt," Alistair said. "Indecisive, inconsistent, curious…"
Emil's blush darkened.
"It doesn't mean anything," he said.
"Admit it," Alistair said. "You can see similarities."
"W-well… What's yours then?"
My friend has complained multiple times that she just can't figure me out, and whenever she thinks she's close, something new is revealed. The latest is my ability to write upside-down (which I demonstrated). The most frustrating thing for her is that no one believes her. After seven years of friendship, we came up with a theory: I'm Gemini. The quote that Alistair read is from the Gemini horoscope book – I just find it fascinating, and the personality traits are usually correct (my sister is a bit disgusted by the fact that the thing about Taurus they always mention is that they're stubborn – and it's certainly one of her strongest traits).
I chose Iceland for this because, not only is he Gemini, he also shares my birthday. So with this, he's the most relatable person for me.
