EstBela: Sensations

"Are you sure about this?" Eduard asked, blinking in Natalia's general direction.

"I don't mind," Natalia said. "So, what's the first one?"

Eduard was blind, and his girlfriend, who was a synesthete, offered to describe to him what colours were. He had always wondered about this. So, licking his lips, he decided to start with the first that came to mind.

"Blue," he said.

"Blue is the rolling waves at sea," Natalia said. "The sound of crashing waves, the scent of sea breeze, the feel of the cold spray as the wind carries it, the taste of salt. A seagull is crying nearby."

Eduard smiled. He had been to the beach before, though he couldn't really appreciate a lot of it. Still, he recalled the sounds, scent and feeling that Natalia described.

"And what about red?" he asked.

"Red is fire," Natalia said. "It's a warning sign. It's the taste of strawberries. It's hot."

"Green?"

"Green is a forest with sunlight streaming through the leaves. It's the scent of freshly cut grass. It's the taste of vanilla."

"Vanilla is green?" Eduard asked, cocking his head to the side.

"Some of the things make sense. Others I'm not quite sure of. I look at you, and I smell flowers, but it's not your scent."

The Estonian didn't know how he felt about being compared to the scent of flowers, but that was what Natalia's senses told her.

"Alright," he said. "What about yellow?"

"Yellow is the heat of sunshine and the scent of bananas," Natalia said.

"White?"

"The snow crunching under your feet."

"Black?"

"Liquorice."

"Purple?"

"Grapes. Tasting it, feeling it, smelling it."

Eduard smiled. He had experienced all of these things before, and Natalia's descriptions made him feel that he understood colours better. There were still more to go, though.

The prompt is: 'Imagine Person A of your OTP is a synesthete and Person B is blind, and Person A uses their synaesthesia to explain to Person B what colours are.'
