Yo, friends of fanfiction, I'm back with chapter 13 of BFTH. I know it's been a bit, but I had slight burnout, BUT, I am back now, bitches! This is gonna be a big chapter, so strap in and enjoy, my friends! Here we go!
I don't own Pokemon: no shit
Read and review!
May was sat in Brock's room, they talked for a bit, but the doctor said he needs more sleep, so they gave him a sedative. The young woman didn't really know what to do, that was until she felt a vibration on her wrist. It was her Pokétch. She brought it up to her eye level and saw it was a message, from Makoto. "Oh, that's right!" She remembered, beginning to write a message back. "I forgot he wanted to talk..." She read the new message and mumbled, "The park, huh..." May looked at Brock, who was asleep. "I'm sure leaving for a bit is just fine." She hopped to her feet and made her way to the park.
It was down to both of their last pokemon, Gary's Blastoise and Seifer's Flygon. Seifer let out a laugh. "You know, Gary, no one has pushed me this far in a long time!"
Gary smirked, "Heh, guess you weren't fighting strong enough trainers, huh?!"
"Guess not..." Seifer muttered, looking to the ground. He knew that beating Gary was his mission, but... He didn't care anymore. This was fun, his mission wasn't. "I've spent all my life... Fighting... for him. Ever since he found me..."
It was a cold, dark forest. Seifer didn't know where he was, his parents took him to wait here for them, "they'd be back", they said. But, it's been an hour, and they weren't back. A six year old Seifer looked around once more, for any sign of his family, or anyone really. But... there was no one... That was until he heard rustling in the bushes, he feared it was a wild pokemon, ready to eat him! Seifer was paralyzed with fear, shaking all over. What came out of those bushes was... a tiny pokemon. It came up to Seifer and cried its name. "Zorua" The young boy was in shock. "Are... you waiting too?" Seifer slowly asked. The pokemon repeated its name again and sat in Seifer's lap. The two of them stayed like that for another two hours.
"Where did that damn fox go?!"
Seifer froze up at the sound of a voice. "Did you hear that, Zoro?" He asked his pokemon friend, whom nodded.
The bushes shook again, but this time a man came out, one in quite the suit at that, and a bag. "Oh..." He mumbled. "What's a child doing here?" The man asked, himself, not the boy. He looked at the being in the boys lap and smiled. "There you are!" He thought.
"Wh-who are you!?" Seifer screamed out.
The man, at first just wanted the pokemon, but had a grand idea. "The boy..." He mumbled. "Why are you here?" He asked.
Seifer looked away, holding onto Zoro. "My parents left me here..." He shook his head. "Something about.. my eyes?"
"Your eyes?" The man mimicked, and walked around to get a look at the boy's eyes, and when he did, he gasped. "This boy... is gifted." He thought. The man put on a smile. "My name is Giovanni." He pulled out some food from his bag. "I'm here to help."
Seifer slowly reached out for the food. "Can I... keep... Zoro?"
Giovanni nodded. "Of course."
Seifer's eyes went from hazy back to serious, he can't let painful memories disrupt this great time! "Go, Flygon, dragon rush!" The Mystic Pokémon started glowing purple and flew up into the sky.
Gary watched the pokemon with a smirk. "Okay, Blastoise, use Hydro Cannon, shoot him down!" The Shellfish Pokémon readied their cannons on their back and fired!
Flygon came crashing down, purple mixing with the blue of hydro cannon, like a purple meteor making ripples in an ocean. "C'mon, Flygon..." Seifer mumbled, he didn't care if he won, but he knew that his boss did and, as he always tells them, his desires come before their own... "You can't stop now!" Seifer screamed out, gritting his teeth to the point of grinding them.
Gary was shocked by Seifer's sudden change, but ignored it. "Go, now, Blastoise!" Gary tightened his knuckles. "Finish it, wave him out!"
The two attacks collided, both pokemon trying their hardest for their trainer, a giant cloud of dust form, everyone in the stadium held their breath, even Red gripped onto his seat. Seifer closed his eyes, sensing the outcome, Gary kept his confident expression but gulped down some spit that formed for anxiety.
When the dust cleared it showed one green pokemon on the ground with a blue one standing over it. Seifer nodded, he guessed right. Gary leaped into the air and cheered. Then, the referee called it. "SEIFER'S FLYGON IS UNABLE TO BATTLE, THAT MEANS GARY OAK IS THE WINNER!" He screamed, throwing up the blue flag in Gary's direction, signaling his win.
"HE DID IT!" All his friends cheered, Dawn and Paul hugged, Serena and Misty held each other's hand. Clemont smirked, but then frowned when he saw his sister and Max hug.
"Heh, not bad..." Red mumbled with a faint smile, that he would deny if anyone dared to point it out.
Maya gasped, dropping her binoculars. "He lost..." She breathed out in disbelief. "How... could Seifer lose..."
Jillia's eyes went wide in horror. Not over the fact that their mission is now in disarray... But what was gonna happen to Seifer... now that he's lost... "Oh, gods... protect him..." She thought, a tear rolling down her face.
"Dammit..." Maya cursed, hopping down from the tree. "Change of plans, Jillia with me, I have an idea." Maya stomped off.
Jillia ran after her and tilted her head in confusion asking, "What is this"plan" huh?!"
Maya sighed, slowing down a tad, but not stopping. "We... I need to stop Red..." Maya sprinted off, looking back, her eyes saying, "Keep up!"
Jillia mindlessly chased after her sister figure, her mind in disarray, so many thoughts, too many thoughts in her head. But, one was the biggest of all. "Is she going to hurt Red?!"
May arrived at the park and looked around for her boyfriend. "Hmm, I hope I'm at the right park..." She worried, hoping her scatterbrain was in control.
"May!"
The bandana wearing girl spun around like a top when she heard her name. She smiled when she saw Makoto sitting under a pavilion waving at her. "Oh, hey!" She greeted, running up to him.
"Hey..." Makoto somberly greeted back.
May sat down next to him and asked. "So, what's up?"
Makoto sighed and stood up so he could look her in the eyes, those beautiful eyes that captivate him so. "May... I... have to tell you something..."
Red walked out of the stadium with his head hanging down. He was unsure of what to do. Should he tell Gary? Does he even need to anymore? Red just didn't know... He walked and walked until he heard voices.
"What is it, Makoto?"
Red's eyes went wide, he knew that voice. He looked around and he noticed that he was in the park, on a hill looking down on the pavilion and he could see Makoto and May standing in it. "What are they doing here?" He asked bitterly.
Makoto cleared his throat. "I... uh..." He stuttered, unable to get the words out.
"Mako..." May stood up and tried to reach out to him, but he pulled away. "What's wrong?"
Makoto flinched, he hated seeing her eyes full of pity and worry for him. He didn't deserve it. He never deserved her love... "May, I..." He gulped out his anxiety, trying to form the right words.
Red was interested now, he was full on watching. His head jerked up when he felt water fall onto his cheek. He looked up and saw many dark clouds. "It's gonna rain..." He mumbled, pulling his hood closer to his face, turning his attention back to the two down below.
Makoto breathed in and let a deep breath out. "I want you to know what I'm about to tell you... is hard..."
"O-okay..." May stuttered. "I'm listening..."
Makoto sighed. "Oh gods..." He shuddered out. "I'm so sorry..."
May shook her head, not understanding. "Wha- what?" She tilted her head. "What are you sorry for?"
"We..." Makoto managed to say, his breathing becoming rapid. "WE HAVE TO BREAK UP!" He screamed, not looking at her, only at the dead grass, that is now getting wet from the rain.
May's breathing stop. She gasped... and the she gasped again, all her breath leaving her body. "Wh- What...?" A tear rolled down her face. "Are you... Serious...?" May did wait for an answer. She already knew. Her cheeks were littered with tear lines, she brought her hand up to her eyes and covered them and ran off, not looking back nor caring about the rain.
Makoto collapsed onto the pavilion chair as tears ran down his face too, all while repeating, "I'm sorry..." over and over. Breaking down, trying to grasp onto the bench, as if it were her, but it wasn't, he was alone. Alone with himself, his disgusting self.
Red watched in genuine surprise. Both at what happened and how Makoto is acting. "Why...?" Red mumbled. He nodded, sliding down the hill. He has to find out what just happened.
"MAKOTO!" Red called out, running up to his old teammate, his hood falling off, his coat flopping in the wind, making a hypnotic sound that drew Makoto's gaze over to Ash.
"Red..." He weakly spit out, tears still flowing down his face, followed by a faint sob.
Red hated seeing someone he once viewed, hell, maybe still does, as a brother in such a state. "What the hell was that?" He asked, picking up Makoto and placing him on the bench and then sat next to him.
Makoto weakly laughed in self-deprecation. "Heh, you saw all that, huh?" He still looked to the ground, his bangs covering his eyes. "I'm horrible, aren't I..." Makoto mumbled, playing with the purple band he has on his finger.
"No." Red bluntly said, and then look at Makoto's back, the only things he's showing him. "Your not horrible, because you're acting like this." Ash scoffed, throwing his hands in the air in amusement. "Heh, you look a mess!" Red couldn't help but laugh slightly. "Rough breakup?" He teased.
Makoto glared at Red. "Shut up, man." He said weakly.
"Tch, it worked." Was all Red said, amusement still on his face.
"What?" Makoto asked, shaking his head in confusion.
"I got you to look at me." Red pointed out, which made Makoto's eyes go wide. "Mission accomplished."
Makoto somberly scoffed, looking away to the sky and muttered. "You're so weird..." Makoto shook his head in amazement. "One second you're a complete dick and the next you're trying to cheer me up..." Makoto looked back at Red with a smirk, whom was blushing. "I wonder who the real you is?" Makoto pondered, with a smirk present on his face still.
"Sh-Shut up!" Red roared. "Don't try to analyze me!"
Makoto lowly laughed. "Trust, I've tried and failed before..." He shrugged. "I've learned my lesson."
Red sighed, getting over his embarrassment. "You never answered my question..." Red looked Makoto dead in the eye. "What. The. Hell. Was. That?"
Makoto groaned, he didn't really want to tell Red the truth. "I was... upholding my end of the deal..." So he kept it vague.
"Pah, and I'm guessing Giovanni is connected in this "deal" am I wrong?" Red countered, with air quotes and all.
Makoto sighed. "Maybe... What does it matter?" Makoto snorted. "Don't you not care about them anymore?" He leaned closer. "About her?"
Red growled and pushed Makoto away. "Of course I don't care about her, or any of them, I just want to know why." Red explained with a blank face, that even he had to admit, didn't show off his full feelings. "I'm just curious." He added on, with a sly smile.
"Right..." Makoto simply said, followed by a sigh. "Whatever you say, leader." He stood up.
Red stood up too. "Where are you going?"
Makoto somberly laughed. "You'd like to know, wouldn't you?" He walked off without giving Red a chance to respond.
Serena and Misty are currently walking down the crowded streets, the honey blonde wanted to check out all the street stalls and whined and pestered the orange haired girl until she reluctantly agreed to come with. Serena had a cloud of cotton candy that she was happily biting into as Misty watched in amusement.
"Is why you wanted to come out? For candy?" Misty asked, rolling her eyes.
"It's really good candy!" Serena argued back, her cheeks puffed up from the cotton candy in her mouth.
"That's rude, y'know." Misty scolded, shaking her head.
Serena blushed slightly, surprised by her actions. Usually she kept her manners in check. I guess cotton candy just does something to her. She swallowed her cotton before speaking. "Sorry..." She apologized, followed by a nervous laugh.
Misty wore warm gaze, telling her that she didn't really mind. "It's fine..."She mumbled, looking at the candy cloud with the corner of her eye.
Serena caught this and smirked. "You want some?" She asked teasingly, her eyes looking quite seductive.
Misty was taken back by Serena's face and surprised by the way it made her feel and stuttered out. "O-of cour-ourse not..."
Serena giggled into her hand, carefully making sure to not drop her cotton candy. "Awww, you do!"
"No, I don't!" Misty barked back, crossing her arms and looking away.
"I know!" Serena exclaimed with a snap of her fingers. "You want me to feed it to you!" She proclaimed, with a wink and finger gun.
"What are you sayin'?!" Misty yelled.
"Ohhh, I know..." Serena slowly Said, closing her eyes, her mouth curved into a cute smile, one that drew Misty in. The orange haired girl watched closely as Serena pulled off a small piece of candy cloud and put it on her lips. "You want me to feed it to you this way, so we have to kiss!"
Misty froze with mouth agape, her face completely flushed, her fingers shaking. "Serena..." She mumbled.
But then Serena burst out laughing. "Hahaha!" You pointed at Serena. "You should've seen the look on your face!"
Misty growled. "That wasn't funny..."
"Of course it was!" Serena exclaimed in-between giggles, a piece of cotton candy still hanging off her lips.
Misty noticed this and saw it as her means for a counterattack. She, without thinking for a second more, lunged at Serena and covered her lipstick covered lips with her own, in an attempt to snag the candy. Serena was so surprised, her was completely red, so was Misty's once she realized what she did. The cotton candy hit the floor, and Serena was shaking. Misty pulled away as quickly as she could once she realized what she had just done.
"M-Misty..." Serena stuttered out, still shaking, her cheek completely red.
Misty covered her lips, unsure if what she just did was real or not. "I..." She choked out. So many things were running through her head right now. "Did I really do that?!" "Is this a dream?!" "Why did it... feel good...?"
Serena walked up to the paralyzed Misty and repeated her name. "Misty?"
But, before anything else happened Misty ran off, not looking back. Her thoughts polluting her as she ran and ran... "At least the candy tasted good..."
May laid face down on her bed, tears no longer falling down her face, because she had no more, so all she could do was sob into her pillow. She didn't understand... Why? Why would he do this? Did she do something? Is she not something! May wanted to scream into her pillow in frustration and anguish but she knew that would only hurt her voice more than help anything else. Her face was all smudged, thanks to her tears bleeding out her makeup. "I... Don't understand..." She choked out before falling into a cry-induced slumber.
It was a new day, and Paul was currently sat in the stadium as he and Gary watched Max wipe the floor with some rando named Hikki. He looked around and was worried. "May, Dawn and Misty aren't here..." He mumbled under his breath. He looked at the ones who were present and... Serena did look good. She looked tired, and confused. Paul didn't know why though. He hoped it wasn't anything serious. But, he couldn't ask her. He barely knew to be honest. Sure, they were friends, but... not enough for him to walk up and ask, "What's wrong!?" With a worrisome expression. Gary and Bonnie happily cheered Max on, Clemont was watching while pouting. Paul internally laughed. He knew Clemont liked the kid, but just wouldn't admit it... But, Paul was worried about the missing girls. He hoped they were all okay. He looked to the side where Ash would normally be, and he wasn't present either. "Damn... Where is everyone...?" Paul muttered under his breath, playing with his pony tail.
Makoto walked through the suffocating hallway that he hates so much, but could never live without. After all... He owns everything to Giovanni. He saved his life, no... he gave him a life. With Giovanni... Makoto would be dead... The black haired young man walked up to the door and called out. "It's me!" He heard an older voice muttered "about time" on the other side of the door before it flushed into the roof.
"Come in, Makoto." Giovanni beckoned, sitting behind his desk as usual. "I hope you bring news of your mission?" He asked, almost as a threat.
Makoto sighed, and took a seat at the desk. "Of course, I wouldn't be here if not."
"Yes, yes, you always did hate my office." Giovanni joked, followed by a deep laugh. "Is it done?" He asked, his laughing tone now gone.
Makoto groaned, trying to find the "proper" words to tell him. "Yes, my... connection with May is now over." When he said that he felt sharp pain in his heart.
Giovanni nodded, while saying, "Good, good." as he spun his chair around to face the dark window. "Were you informed by Maya?" The big man asked bluntly.
"Informed?" Makoto titled his head. "About what, man?"
Giovanni sighed, not enjoying Makoto's tone. "I suppose I'll tell you..." He spun back round to face his like-a-son. "Maya has a plan to kill Red." Giovanni said with a full smile while gripping his arm.
Makoto's eyes went wide. "Really...?"
Seifer was just aimlessly walking down the street, with his hands in his pockets. He failed... He knew he had to report to the boss sometime... But... that was the last thing he wanted to do. Seifer was blind, nor ignorant. He saw what happened to Jillia and why. She spoke out against the boss. "Stupid..." Jillia wasn't stupid for speaking her mind, she was right, the boss was wrong for what he did! ... Right? "Agh, what's right anymore?!" Seifer growled, holding his head in agony. Just then, he felt something hit his forehead. He looked down to see a piece of paper, when he picked it up he noticed it had words on it, it said...
"You don't know either?"
Seifer recognized this handwriting. It was Jillia's. "Where are you..." He mumbled, looking around. "Jillia?!" Then a white haired young lady walked out, her hair swaying in the wind along with her hips. Seifer was able to easily stop her, even in the crowd. "There you are..." He walked up to her with a scowl. Their eyes meet, gray met orange. Seifer looked her up and down. "Tch, still wearing that, girl?"
Jillia looked down at herself and she was still wearing her "disguise." She'd never admit it, but she actually likes the look. Ninetails is one of her favorites. She quickly scribbled down words onto a piece of paper and threw at Seifer with puffed up cheeks. It read... "Yeah, so what?! You're still wearing that dumb coat!"
Seifer threw the paper back at her and smirked, throwing his hands up in defense. "Whoa don't diss the coat!" He flicked his long white coat with his arms. "It's badass, and it's for my sword."
Jillia rolled her eyes and threw another piece of paper at him, landing on his face, covering his eyes, which read... "Speaking of... where is that thing?"
Seifer peeled the paper off of him, still smirking. "It's in my hotel room, can't exactly walk around with the thing." He explained with a shrugged. Jillia simply nodded and Seifer took that as a queue to continue talking. "Anyway... It's rare for you to come up to me..." Seifer cracked his knuckles. "Need something?"
Jillia stood still for a minute, gathering her thoughts before pulling out a new paper and writing down. "What will you do, about Giovanni?" and holding it outward so Seifer could read it.
Seifer flinched slightly when he read the words. "I don't know... I can't exactly keep the big dog waiting..." He mused, looking down.
Jillia showed his eyes that asked, "You have to do something..."
"I know..." Seifer mumbled, running his hands through his hair. "I... have to find out what's right..."
Jillia walked up to him and placed a hand on his shoulder and showed him another paper. "I'll help." It said.
Red awoke from his bed in the RV and rolled over to look at the clock. When he saw those big red numbers his eyes went wide. "Oh, shit, it's already 11 am!" He jumped out of bed and ran to the stadium. "Dammit, something could've happened!" When he made it to the stadium he saw Gary walk out of the place with Max on his shoulders cheering, the rest following them out. "I guess everything is okay..." He mumbled, followed by a sigh of relief.
"I thought you said you didn't care about them." A familiar voice stated.
"Mako..." Red muttered, spinning around to this the man he thought he heard right behind him. "What are you doing here?"
"What a strange question..." Makoto softly said while shaking his head. "I'm in the tournament after all."
"That's!" Red sighed to calm down. "Not what I meant." Before Red could say anything more or Makoto could respond, a voice he resounded.
"Is that Makoto!?"
Red and Makoto turned around to see Max running up to them. Red was confused, wondering what he wanted and Makoto walked in front of Red with a somber expression. "It's me..." The dark haired man mumbled.
Max ran up to Makoto, with Paul, Gary and Serena following behind. "You bastard, what the hell did you do to her!" Max yelled at him.
Gary walked in-between the two. "Whoa, Max, what was that?!"
Max growled. "He broke May's heart..." He muttered. "She won't come out of her room, y'know!"
Paul's eyes went wide. "So that's why..."
Serena sighed. "So they broke up...?" She silently asked.
"Yeah... we did..." Makoto slowly said, looking to the ground.
Max scoffed, looking at Makoto in disbelief. "Don't tell me you're sad..." Max chuckled a little. "You're the one who ended it!"
"I know!" Makoto said, his words coming out harsher than he intended.
Gary stepped aside, and ran into Red. "Oh, hey..." He greeted with a nod, which Red returned. Gary then leaned closer, whispering into Red's ear. "You know what's happening, Ash?"
Red pulled away, not prepared for the hot breath on his ear. "Somewhat..." He mumbled, watching Makoto take Max's verbal assault.
"I always knew you were trouble..." Max growled, looking at Makoto, as the man in question just looked down in silence, with his eyes closed, taking it. "I bet you never even loved her!" This claimed made Makoto's eyes jump open, he slowly picked his head up to look at Max in disbelief.
"That's..." Makoto tried to defend himself, but someone else's voice interjected.
"That's not true." Red calmly said, getting in the middle of the two. "He did love her."
"Red...?" Max slowly said, fixing his glasses. "What are you doing?" He asked, staring daggers at him. "Don't tell me you're defending this... scum."
"I am." Red blankly said back. "Because he did nothing wrong, no, he isn't to blame."
Paul and Gary watched in amazement. "What's happening..." Paul slowly asked.
Gary laughed, "Heh, Ash came out."
Paul's eyes went wide. "Yeah..." He slightly laughed a low chuckle. "Yeah, that seems like Ash..."
"Red..." Makoto somberly mumbled, not looking at him nor Max. "I don't need you to defend me..."
Red slowly laughed and whispered so only Makoto could hear. "I know... I'm just doing what I want..."
Makoto sighed and breathed in and let a deep breath out, and walked up to Max. "Max, I'm sorry. I do love your sister, but..." He paused to find the words and, to his surprise, Max waited. "But, I need to work on myself before I can love her anymore."
Max stay silent for a heavy minute before letting out a heavy sigh. "Fine..." He looked Makoto in the eye. "I'm still pissed at you though."
Makoto laughed. "That's fine..."
Just then, a voice resounded throughout the town on an intercom. "CAN RED ZERO AND PAUL SHINJI PLEASE MAKE THEIR WAY TO THE STADIUM!"
Paul and Red's eyes met and they smirked at each other. "Well, it's time..." Paul said, not taking his eyes off his rival.
"Time for me to kick you ass." Red countered, with a wild smile.
