Rated MA for language, violence, and sexual content (yes, there will eventually be hot lesbian sex, but also a plot and a story)
This is a lesbian fanfiction people, if you don't like it, don't read.
Disclaimer: If I owned the Teen Titans, I'd be a whole lot richer. As it is, if you sue me, I'll laugh and help you look for money. But in all seriousness, I do not own these characters, DC, Cartoon Network, or any of that jazz.
First time actually posting a fanfiction so please be nice, but I seriously would love feedback!
I AM THE LITERAL WORST AND SHOULD PROBABLY BE BURNED WITH FIRE! But please don't do that. Seriously though I am so sorry for the gigantic break between posting. A LOT has happened in life and of course when I finally find inspiration to write again is right when the semester starts so I'll soon be drowning in school work. I hope some of you are still following and will continue to read because I PROMISE I will finish this story.
After managing to push the emotions that came racing to the surface after reading Jinx's words away, Raven continued to browse the shelves in the sorceress' room. With growing frustration, she soon realized that nothing going into intimate detail of Jinx's past was going to be lying around in the open. Cringing again at the invasion of privacy, Raven knelt on the floor and began pulling various items out from under Jinx's bed. The space was mostly filled with more of Jinx's writing, which Raven only skimmed over quickly enough to see if the information was relevant before quickly setting them aside. Finally, Raven pulled out a small black chest with a lock that had been pushed back as far as possible under the bed. Raven easily removed the lock and took a deep breath before lifting the lid.
The contents were dusty and appeared as though they had not been removed in quite some time. On the top of the small pile was a ragged doll made of once colorful cloth. The ink in the cloth had faded and the dolls features were difficult to make out. Raven carefully lifted the child's toy out of the box and delicately traced the design on its dress with one finger. She held the doll to her chest briefly before placing it gently to the side. The next item in the box was a ticket for passage to New York City. Judging by the date on the ticket, Raven guessed this must have been the trip she'd found in the database when Jinx was six years old. Raven set this aside as well and continued searching through Jinx's treasures. The chest mostly contained scraps of paper with children's drawings on them. One was of a ship on the ocean during a storm, another showed what could only be the statue of liberty. Other notes had phone numbers or addresses scribbled on them. Raven put these in a separate pile to look up on the computer system when she was finished. She found several more mementos such as several pieces of Indian currency, a carved wooden elephant, and a gold necklace. The very last item in the box was an old photograph. Raven carefully blew the dust off of the photo to see the image of a young couple and their infant daughter. The man and woman were smiling brightly at the camera while the purple, cat-like eyes of their child were widened in curiosity. Raven studied the faces of Jinx's parents. She flipped the photograph over and found the words 'Mom, Dad, and Jinx the day the adoption was finalized' in smooth, slanted writing. The date written beneath indicated that Jinx had been just over a year old when the photo was taken.
Quickly wiping the tears she didn't realize had been forming, Raven slipped the photo into one of the inside pockets of her robe and left Jinx's room to find Mammoth and Gizmo. She found them back in the living room, Gizmo still sulking and Mammoth, to her surprise, reading a book. Both teens looked up as Raven sat down on the couch across from them. Gizmo glared and said nothing. Mammoth indicated the book he was reading.
"One of her favorites. She's always trying to get me to read more." He explained sheepishly.
Raven gave a small smile at that. Mammoth set the book down and became solemn again.
"Did you learn anything?" He asked.
"A bit." Raven nodded, "but I was hoping maybe you two could help fill in some gaps."
Gizmo scoffed but Raven ignored him and continued addressing the larger of the pair.
"Do you know anything about Jinx before she joined the HIVE?" She asked.
"Not much. She didn't like talking about her past." Mammoth admitted. "But I know she was born in India. Don't know who her real parents were though. She got adopted by some people and I think they were good parents. She never talks about them but it don't seem like she's ever angry, just kinda sad."
"Do you know what happened to them? Or how she ended up in the states all alone?" Raven pressed.
Mammoth rubbed the back of his head nervously and looked over to Gizmo, who rolled his eyes.
"Please, anything you tell me remains between us and it could only help me find her." Raven pleaded.
"Well, she never actually told us, but, back at the academy, she had nightmares a lot. Still gets them I'm sure but back then we overheard sometimes." Mammoth admitted, looking again at Gizmo and silently pleading with him to jump in.
"Oh for snot's sakes! She's bad luck in human form! What the fuck do you think happened to them?!" The tech-wiz finally shouted in annoyance.
"Gizmo!" Mammoth growled.
"What!? I'm helping! Isn't that what you wanted?!" The smaller teen replied exasperatedly. He turned back to Raven and continued, "They tried to come here. From what we could figure out from her yelling every night was there was a storm and mommy and daddy didn't make it. I didn't add this to the database cause I didn't want Jinx to know I knew but she didn't actually get here on the ship she left on. I dug a little deeper though and found some records. The ship never made it to New York City. Whole thing must've sunk and taken the rest of the passengers and crew with it. A few weeks after it was supposed to arrive I found some police and hospital records of a Jane Doe found on the coast down in Jersey. Just a kid and they didn't know who the hell she was or how she got there. The hospital reports said she didn't speak a word while she was there and one night the nurse went to check on her and she was gone. Cops tried tracking her down, but the case went cold."
Gizmo refused to make eye contact with Raven as he finished his account. His voice had remained uncaring and callous throughout, but Raven was surprised to sense the real sadness he felt for his friend. Mammoth placed a huge hand on Gizmo's shoulder, but Gizmo shrugged him off and stood up.
"Dunno how that's supposed to help but you better make it work." He said before disappearing down one of the hallways of the apartment.
Mammoth looked up hopefully at Raven. "Will it help?" He asked.
"It might." Raven admitted hopefully.
She stood without saying more and went back into Jinx's room. She sat down on the sorceress' bed, pulled the photo from her pocket, and held it carefully in her hand before beginning to meditate again, reaching out with renewed vigor for the beautiful pink aura.
Jinx had no idea how much time had passed. She had no concept of time, of day, of night, or of anything really. All she knew was darkness, misery, and pain. After the man had grabbed her, the last thing she remembered was Raven screaming her name. After that, only black. She couldn't even tell if she was conscious or not. She couldn't sleep, move, hear, see, or feel anything. There was no way to tell if she was lying down, sitting, standing, or just floating in mid-air. She didn't feel hungry or thirsty, so maybe it had only been a few hours. Or maybe whatever state she was in removed the need for food and water and she'd actually been trapped here for years.
There was, however, one thing she could feel. Pain. Agonizing pain coursing through her body. It was like someone had replaced her blood with acid and her heart kept relentlessly pumping it through her veins. At times she wished for death, and other times she thought she was already dead. She held on to the last memory she had, the sound of Raven's voice calling for her. The terror in that voice was the only reason she still thought at all. She had to get back to Raven. She didn't care that Raven would likely give up on her and move on. But she had to at least see her one last time. She didn't understand the connection they shared, but she did understand the feelings she had for the Titan. Feelings that had developed so suddenly they scared her but knew without a doubt that they were real. She just needed to see Raven's face, to feel the warmth of the empath's hand in her own, then she could give in to the pain and the darkness.
Suddenly, her ears were filled with the sound of screams. They came from all directions and Jinx wanted to open her mouth and scream with them, but she couldn't. The noise was agonizeng. She felt it would never end, that she would be trapped for eternity with a thousand voices screaming in agony.
Help, please… someone, help. She managed to form the words in her mind.
She fought with every ounce of mental strength she had to recall an image, a swirling dance of purple and pink.
Raven, help me.
Raven crashed to the bed from her hovering position. The voice she'd heard in her mind was weak, barely audible, but it was real.
'Jinx!' She called out desperately in her mind.
She closed her eyes and willed herself back into her meditative state. She almost cried in relief when she saw the palest streak of pink reaching out to her.
'Jinx!' She called again. 'I'm here! Help me find you!'
'I… can't. It hurts… Screaming…' came the faint reply.
'Jinx, listen to my voice, sweetie, don't listen to the screams. I'm here. I won't leave you.' Raven pleaded, the term of endearment falling naturally from her lips (so to speak.)
'Raven…'
Jinx's telepathic voice was getting weaker, but Raven could still see her aura. She willed her own to reach out further to Jinx. They weren't close enough to touch, but Jinx's aura was still reaching for hers as well.
'I've almost got you, please Jinx, don't give up! Come back to me.'
'Rae…'
Raven watched in terror as Jinx's aura started to fall away.
'NO!'
Throwing all caution to the wind and ignoring every warning she'd ever heard about not losing yourself while crossing dimensions or reaching too far into unknown dimensions, Raven dove towards Jinx's aura with all of her strength. Shocked, pink, cat eyes met deep purple and Raven pulled Jinx's physical form into her arms.
'Hold on.' She whispered before the sorceress' thin arms wrapped around her neck desperately.
A moment later, Raven collapsed onto the plush carpet with Jinx's limp form on top of her. Ignoring the exhaustion that swept over her, Raven maneuvered Jinx onto the bed before gently cupping her incredibly pale face in her hands.
'Jinx, please, wake up! Please, sweetheart!'
She felt for a pulse and was briefly relieved when she found one, but it was slow and weak. It wasn't until Raven pulled her communicator out of her pocket with difficulty because her hands were shaking so badly that she realized they were now covered in blood. Jinx's blood.
"Cyborg!" Raven cried desperately into the communicator.
"Rae? What's wrong?" Cyborg replied, his voice filled with worry.
"I have her. But she won't wake up. She's barely breathing, and there's blood!" Raven replied desperately.
"Can you teleport her to the medical bay?"
"I-I don't' know. I'm weak. What if it hurts her more?"
Raven knew she wasn't in control of her emotions in the slightest. And being violently pulled through unknown dimensions could have killed Jinx if Raven hadn't been using all her powers to shield the other girl.
"Raven, listen to me. You can do this. You can bring her here. She needs you." Cyborg said slowly and calmly.
Raven looked at the pale, weak figure on the bed. Jinx's beautiful face bore an expression of pain and was smeared with her own blood. Raven's heart felt like it was being torn in two to see Jinx like this.
"I'm bringing her home, Cyborg." Raven said before shutting her com, scooping Jinx into her arms, using the farthest depths of her strength she could find and focused on teleporting back to the tower.
Raven hadn't even opened her eyes before she felt someone pull Jinx from her as she collapsed to the ground. She wearily looked up to see Cyborg place Jinx onto the operating table before hooking up a series of tubes and monitors to the pink-haired girl. He then began wheeling her into the separate room off the medical bay that they used for surgery.
"Wait, no, I have to be with her." Raven called weakly as she tried to rise to her feet.
She collapsed again but this time Robin caught her before she hit the ground.
"Raven, wait, you're too drained." He said.
"Please, I have to be with her. Please." Raven sobbed, trying to shove her friend off.
Robin was about to protest again when Starfire appeared and picked up Raven before flying after Cyborg and Jinx. Without a word, she deposited Raven onto a bed in the corner of the room and immediately begin helping Cyborg assess Jinx's injuries.
Raven tried weakly to raise her head from the bed and see what they were doing to Jinx, tears still streaming down her face. She tried to reach out towards Jinx but was unable to even lift her arms.
"Star, get fluids going through this IV." Cyborg instructed.
Robin ran in followed by Beast Boy.
"Cyborg! She has stopped breathing!"
Starfire's cry made Raven's heart stop.
"No! Jinx!" She pleaded.
"Robin, start CPR." Cyborg said as he filled a syringe with a clear liquid.
Robin immediately complied as Starfire finished setting up the IV. Cyborg grabbed the IV cord and emptied the syringe into it.
"I'm giving her a shot of pure adrenaline to keep her heart going but don't stop CPR until I say." Cyborg told Robin.
Beast Boy had moved to stand by Raven's side and he held her hand tightly while she cried and fought to stay conscious.
A few minutes that felt like hours passed when suddenly, Jinx started gasping and coughing.
"Yes!" Robin cheered as he stepped back.
"That's it, kid! Just breathe, you're gonna be ok." Cyborg instructed as he moved back in to keep Jinx from trying to sit up or roll off of the table.
"Jinx!" Raven cried, once again trying to reach out to the sorceress.
"R-Rae!" Jinx coughed, "Where…?"
Her question was cut off by more coughing.
"I'm here! I'm right here!" Raven promised.
"Jinx, I need you to calm down. Breathe. You're safe. Raven's here, but I need you to breathe slowly. I need to figure out where this blood is coming from." Cyborg managed to pull Jinx's attention back.
Her pink eyes stopped their frantic movements and closed tightly as she tried to focus on the air entering and leaving her lungs.
"That's it. Just breathe, you're ok. I've found your injuries and they don't seem to be too severe. We'll need to give you some stitches though and do a blood transfusion. I'm going to give you a mild sedative to counter the adrenaline and help you relax a bit." Cyborg said, moving away to fill another syringe before injecting it into the IV.
"Is Raven ok?" Jinx asked desperately.
"Of course you two would only worry about the other while you're both barely conscious." Cyborg grumbled as he began filling a metal tray with sutures and bandages.
"Raven is ok, you are both to be ok!" Starfire answered Jinx.
'Jinx, don't you dare leave me again.' Raven said telepathically before she finally stopped fighting and let unconsciousness consume her.
