Chapter 7: Roar

In the forest, Sora was on the run. He could feel and hear the thunderous footsteps of Dra-Khan hot on his trail, along with the crashing and breaking of wood and foliage behind him. Not only that, he could see the atrociraptors closing in as well; he slides under a log but the raptors jump it and Dra-khan snaps it through. Sora could feel his warm breath as Dra-Khan gets ever closer to reach him.

"I don't think so." Sora thought as he started to feel a rush of energy to go full speed, he starts to run even faster much to Dra-khans surprise as he watches "What?!"

Sora looks back to see Dra-Khan getting further away to his relief, but it was short lived as a pair of jaws nearly snap at him on run. He realizes that the atrociraptors are still in pursuit and closing the gap between them even with his speed "Crap!" Sora thought.

The raptors each take turns trying tosnap at him with their jaws, but Sora manages to evade each attempt even with nearly stumbling at one point. Then one of the raptors goes on higher ground on a giant log running above them, Sora quickly notices this as he looks up. The raptor jumps, but Sora quickly evades as the raptor collides with another behind him tumbling into the brush. Two were still on him as they go through brush, but Sora notices a large enough hole in a tree up ahead. Taking advantage of this he runs towards the tree with the raptors behind him feet away, he drops down and slides through the hole.

He gets back up on the run again as one raptor goes around the tree, but another tries to follow through and ends up getting stuck in the hole as he struggles roaring. Sora quickly looks back to see only one left, Ghost as she closes the distance. Sora knew he needed to act, he looks to see a large boulder on a edge with a vine in front. Knowing this was his chance, he immediately turned left and ran toward the boulder with ghost on him. Sora ran on top of the boulder and right at the edge he leaped to grab the vine, Ghost did the same to grab him. But her claws and jaws missed by inches, she falls right onto the ground with bushes; Sora swung on the vine and landed on a thick branch of a tree.

He looks back to see if they were still chasing him, but it was all quiet through the forest. "I lost them…" Sora sighed as he takes deep breaths in relief thinking that he's safe.

But suddenly he hears the foliage and wood break near him, he looks to see Dra-Khans jaws wide open, roaring, charging straight at him to his overwhelming surprise. At the last possible second, Sora leaps from the branch as Dra-Khan clamps down on it; Sora nearly fails to grab a vine from the excitement but he manages, and he continues swinging onto the next. Dra-Khan shakes the broken wood and shaving from his mouth and goes straight after Sora much to his dread as he looks back feeling his breath on him again.

Shadow-fang along with Soras' siblings, Zeon, and Harmond are rushing through the trail of destruction left behind them as fast as they can in a race against time. Sora continues to swing and jump from vine to vine, branch to branch; each time Dra-Khan snaps ferociously at him in his heels breaking branch and vine. Sora once again needed to act, looking ahead he sees a tree feet away with two trunks growing separately with a wide enough gap.

"Yes…" Sora took this and headed toward it swinging with Dra-Khan close behind him roaring. At the very end of the last vine Sora leaped arms and legs stretched out twisting himself right through the arch between the tree trunks, he could hear Dra-Khans jaws snapping shut behind him along with crackling of wood and an angry roar.

Sora tucks his head as he hits the ground, rolling back onto his feat crouching he looks back to see what he had hoped for. Dra-Khan stuck between the trunks taking out a bit of the wood on either side, he cried loudly as he tries to pull his head free. Then he positions himself allowing his foot to be placed at the base of the tree, he begins to shake and pull violently as the wood crackled. Sora knew that was his cue, he stood back up and running again. Then after some distance he notices the forest clear up into a barren clearing, which he runs right nearly for the edge of a deep ditch beside a dead tree "Woah!"

He stops and looks down to see only the rapid river that is below, then he hears the unmistakable sound of brush toppling and wood crackling as he turns to look. To his shallow gasp of fright, Dra-Khan emerges from the forest growling and alongside him the atrociraptors who have caught up to them.

"Hahaha, this is as far you can go man-cub. Did you honestly believe you can survive longer against me?" Dra-Khan says amused now that he's got Sora cornered, as the atrociraptors laugh and snarl alongside him. Sora desperately looks around for anything that would help, he looks down to his feet and right beside his left foot a thick fallen branch which he takes.

"Ha, a futile effort. About the same kind of effort as your father did with me … I can assure you one thing Sora, your death will be quick, but it'll also be very painful." Dra-Khan said mockingly which got under Soras skin as he and the raptors inch closer as the tension rose.

"Then let's not make this a long night! Come on!" Sora growled back unable to stand himself giving into fear and nearly submitting to the likes of them, He knew that he's not going down like a helpless compy.

One of the raptors; Panthera rushes in, at that moment with his blood pumping; Sora felt another surge sensation like before within, but with a difference. Sora took the branch and swung it at the incoming male raptor, it hits at its face with such force that it nearly splinters the wood as the blow nearly throws the raptor to the side slumping to the ground nearly incapacitated groaning. Dra-Khan and the others were taken aback by this, even Sora who knew that he was strong since wrestling with his siblings never knew that he could get this strong as he looked at the branch.

"You'll pay for that!" Another raptor: Tiger, angrily roared as he rushed in. Sora quickly notices as the raptor lunged at him, he barely manages to dodge jumping and rolling from the jaws and claws that grasp the dead tree's trunk. Sora was awe and shock as Tiger ripped and scratches the trees wood with his fangs and claws showing his strength "If I let them get a hold of me, I'm as good as dead." Sora thought.

Then Tiger snorting a gust of air, lunged at him again with his foot claws ready. Sora quickly jumps to the side to dodge, but as soon as Tiger lands on the ground he uses his hand claws to slash at him. However, Sora barely avoids it as he gets a little grazed on his right leg drawing first blood as he stands up, but he could still move with something minor. But at that moment Sora then remembers his training from his time with his siblings and his father, Faris. Tiger then once again rushes right at him, but Sora was ready.

Shadow-Fang, Zeon, Harmond, Katuri, and Adar came onto the scene from a nearby hill ledge as they look to see their worst fears realized, "Sora!" Shadow-fang roared out.

As Tiger came closer, Sora crouched then grabed his right arm and the underside of his throat with his arms and all his strength stopping him much to his shock "What the…?!" Then Sora turns, wraps his arm around Tigers neck and flings him over with all his might to the ground. Surprising Dra-Khan and all the others who were watching to see this man-cub fling a larger raptor almost like it was nothing, even Sora felt as though his strength was doubled what it was before.

"Red, now!" Then Ghost lost her patience and another male atrociraptor; Red came rushing in full speed. "No, Ghost! He's mine!" Dra-Khan growled but was ignored as the raptors were furious with blood lust for the shame from Sora putting them down.

Sora was quick to notice, he then leapt a great height over them as they charged. Then as Sora landed back down and atrociraptors turned to face him, Sora grabed Tigers tail to his surprise and twirls him around eventually throwing him right at Ghost and Red taken aback, shoving them to the ground dazed.

"Fools, I'll deal with them later…" Dra-Khan said as he then charged full force towards Sora, Shadow-fang and the others could only watch in fright as Dra-Khan prepares to snap jaws wide open, Sora turns to see fangs bearing right at him. But with blood and the sensation pumping wildly within, he knew that he couldn't give in to fear. Sora with great speed jumps and rolls to the side crouched as the jaws snap near him, then with Dra-Khans head close to the ground he launches himself with momentum to grab hold and climb on his head.

Dra-Khan roars angrily as Sora hangs on the top of his head, he twists and turns trying to shake him off and even drags his head on the ground to do so. But with every ounce of strength he clings on to him still for his very life, his hands gripping to the crests and spines on his head.

"Come on, we've gotta go back him up!" Katuri said urging them, but as she Zeon, Harmond, and Adar were about to do so.

"Wait! Let us see…" Shadow fang says stopping them for he had a feeling that there was something about to happen and wanted to see where it leads, much to the group's puzzlement.

"Get off!" Then with one powerful twist and shake, Dra-Kha throws off Sora. He summersaults across the air and manages to grab a vine on a nearby tree at the edge of the forest, he swings around as Dra-Khan watches him.

"What's he doing now?" Harmond asks as they watch his actions. Then as he comes back around, Sora leaps from the vine, fist recoiled and heads straight toward Dra-Khan's head leaving him puzzled by his suicidal action along with the others.

Sora could feel the sensation giving him strength like before, "How's this for effort Dra-khan?!" Sora roared out as he punches Dra-Khan with such force that it makes him be pushed back stumbling close to the edge of the deep ditch.

Everyone from Dra-Khan, the atrociraptors, to Zeon's group were completely in shock, taken aback by how Sora was able to push back a creature as powerful as Dra-Khan like that. Sora eventually lands back on the ground and stands up facing him, panting a bit.

"What is this? How is it possible for a man-cub like him to push back a creature like me…? A weak man-cub… pushed me back…?! Sora, you've infuriated me!" Dra-Khan thought and then said not standing the idea as he recuperated, turned, and raised his head high letting out a ferocious roar of pure fury that echoed across the area.

Sora heard him clear, but he was not phased and stood firm where he was at facing him. The atrociraptors recuperated and regrouped with Dra-Khan, Sora was once again out numbered and out matched with the circumstances.

"I don't know how you've gotten these strange abilities of yours…But it changes nothing! You're still a weak, pitiful man-cub; whose flesh, along with these lands I will have." Dra-Khan growled mockingly as he took a step, along with the atrociraptors snarling toward their prey. Sora however, didn't move; when he looked up to them, Dra-Khan could see that he wasn't afraid but serious and unphased. Not only that, but the color of his eyes were not brown but golden to his surprise.

"Your wrong Dra-Khan, I'm not the same weakling that I was before…And I swear, that as long as I'm breathing. You and many others like you will never be welcomed here in our lands, ever!" Sora's conviction annoyed Dra-Khan, but then he and the atrociraptors started to notice something in the air.

"Can you sense that?" "Yeah." Adar and Zeon said as the others sensed it too, "There's a change in the wind…" Shadow-fang thought feeling it.

Sora could feel it, a great power was welling up deep within him. Taking a deep breath, Sora lets out a powerful roar unlike any that he has done. Dra-Khan and the atrociraptors couldn't believe what they were seeing and feeling, this was also true for Shadow-fang and the others who were amazed by this. Sora's roar was loud enough that it echoed across the Sirona lands and all the residents could hear its power.

"This roar, its different…" "It almost sounds like…" "Sora?!" Blade and Crystal realized saying in unison as they listened along with the rex sisters Tania, Maria, and Nymeria who had deeper feelings for this.

The sonic pressure from Sora's roar was strong enough that it sends the atrociraptors who were desperately trying to grip the ground, flying across the deep ditch and into the wastelands to their utter shock. Dra-Khan was also taken aback as he was being pushed back from the roar's power little by little as he tries to hold his own. But the overwhelming pressure eventually overtakes him, making him stumble a bit right onto the edge. He then notices that edge itself is giving away, it crumbles under him, and Dra-Khan falls roaring in defiance to the river below.

As Soras roar died down, he stop and looked while taking some breaths still in disbelief for what he did for a moment. But that was soon turned into pride and joy with a smile for what he had managed to accomplish and prove on his own.

And Sora wasn't the only one; Shadow-fang, Katuri, Adar, Harmond, and Zeon also had a bit of disbelief but was soon replaced by pride and awe took them as they look down to him and as Sora looked up to them with a smile.

"Drac, now that was something…" "Indeed, it was." "Sora…" Harmond, Zeon, and Katuri said in awe and pride for him.

"That boy, he never ceases to fascinate me in the most unexpected ways." Shadow-fang thought feeling great pride for him.

Later on, under the stars in the night sky, everyone was gathered in the velociraptors territory at council rock with Umara standing at the top rock right beside Nymeria as Zeon's group looked to them.

"Speaking for myself and the entire Sirona pack, you all have our thanks for protecting us and our territory…" Umara said expressing her gratitude to Zeon and the group.

"Your welcome Umara, and we will do it again if need be to protect the circle of life…" "After all, we are primordian's now and its our vow to do so." Zeon and Blade said to her in words of reassuring friendship with Crystal, Katuri, Adar, and Harmond in agreement with them.

"Sora…Even though what you did was extremely foolish, reckless, not to mention disobeying a direct order from me...! You also showed great courage in the face of extreme threats to protect us and the Sirona lands, and for that you have my deepest gratitude." Nymeria expressed much to Sora's delight even with the subtle scolding at the beginning.

"Thank you Nymeria, I was doing what any honorable raptor would and I'll continue to do so for my father's sake as well as my own even if I'm a man-cub…" Sora said as the others listened to his words that had passion and determination to them.

"Then I'll be sure to hold you to it then, primordian Sora." Nymeria said leaving Sora taken aback a bit even the members of the pack were murmuring about how a man-cub has become a primordian now.

"Well bud, you have found your way to prove that you can do what they can do after all." Jinbei said leaping on his shoulder giving praise to Sora.

"It looks like your one of us now." "You've made your mark today little brother, we couldn't be any more prouder." Adar and Katuri say walking up beside him and nuzzling up to him affectingly.

"Thanks, you two." Sora says doing the same rubbing and holding their heads with hands and head.

"Faris, if only you could see them grow as they are." Iris thought as she looked at her family feeling great pride and knowing her mate would feel the same as well.

"Theo, my friend, it has begun… Our future may now rest within their claws, in particular the hands of a special creature." Buge thought as he looked up the starry night sky and back at the group as they mingle.

Then the raptors all begin bark and roar all as one celebrating their victory, it soon was followed by Zeon, Harmond, crystal, Blade, Shadow-fang, Guru, Nymeria, and even Jinbei. All the while Sora looked up in the night sky filled with pride, accomplishment, and determination in his own path in their celebration.

Meanwhile, on a riverbank on the border of the wastelands. A small lizard crawls around looking for something on the ground, it finds a beetle and gobbles it down. Then it looks up as great figure emerges from the water, it runs in fright as a giant three-toed foot comes crashing down on the bank; followed by the sound of a low bellow.
