Hello everyone. This is the start of my second TLBT fanfiction series based after the events of the fourteenth movie and the tv series, and set before the events of 'TLBT: OLLaN'. Please enjoy.
Prologue: Arriving Strangers
Dripping and shivering from the pouring rain, a strange pack of four predators, two of average size and two the same, are searching unfamiliar territory for anything they can consider shelter. The two smallest ones are huddled close together, perhaps trying to keep each other warm as they regret taking another step. A third seems to be lagging in the dreary weather, unsure if any such cover even exists. Maybe they are close to giving up, but the fourth continues to search around full of an inclined hope.
"In a time before any civilisation, there was a treacherous world where life had been a deadly game of survival," a narrator begins.
A lightning bolt strikes a tree, dislodging it moments before a booming thunderclap. To evade the hazard, the predator at the back hurries ahead faster than usual and somewhat shocked. The two together look with surprise, the smaller one huddling even closer to the other, but the fourth is nowhere to be found. After a conversation of raptor noises, the largest of the three heads to a rocky place, with the other two following close behind.
"Herds of dinosaurs traversed the many paths in search of food, water and shelter, hoping that one day they had nothing more to fear. Farwalkers were among these herds, far more superior and prosperous in this forgotten land than those unaccustomed to it."
Packed into a group, a herd of Longnecks keep watch of their surroundings, making sure they do not get attacked out of the blue. But with the rain so heavy, not even they could see past their tails.
"Farwalkers were known to always journey to and fro between the safe havens across the hostile landscape, but it was never the same. Not only did they have vicious predators to contend with, but they also had the weather to the extremes, which came and went just as they did, and disasters that changed the land as they knew it. It forced them to constantly be on the move, for better and safer shelter."
The Longnecks are quickly set upon by a small pack of large Sharpteeth, as they search for the young in the group or the old that they can hunt, yet the group start to stomp and size the predators up in the act of protection. In moments, all are surrounded by a mudslide from the mountains on either side, now trapped with nowhere to run.
"But it wasn't just out here where weather and disasters became a problem. Many temperate lands had the same extremes, even the Great Valley. Littlefoot and his friends have witnessed it countless times before, and despite all the dangers they faced, they were never prepared for the sudden strangers that arrived then."
In the river close to flooding its banks, shark-like dorsal fins break the surface then disappear, clearly marking the fact that swimming predators have also arrived.
"And today will be unlike any day they have lived before, as they wait until the skies clear."
