Allura looked around the room, trying to figure out how she fit into the celebration. Since she no longer had a mother to celebrate Mother's Day with, Lance had invited her to celebrate it with his family. Watching her boy friend's kids play with their cousins, Allura thought about how unique each of their stories were. Milly was the oldest at four and had been in a special needs foster care facility that Lance had been volunteering at when she was three, which was before he became a paladin. Having select mutism, Lance was the only one who she would talk to, which was why it was thought best if he were to adopt her and he agreed having fallen for the little girl with reddish brown hair and light blue eyes.
Mirabelle was two and had been all alone in an abandoned rebel out post when Lance found her. Having crashed his lion, he couldn't do much at first but while he did, he had fallen in love with the tiny kit and adopted her as his own. There was no doubt about it, she was a pretty little girl with her periwinkle skin that had bands of lavender on her wrists, magenta eyes with cat-like pupils, shorter elf-like ears and fingers that were pointed like claws. Allura could definitely see why Mirabelle won her dad's heart.
And lastly there were the twins: Moko and Moka. They were four-month-old kits whom Lance had discovered in a destroyed village, where it was presumed that their parents were forced to leave them behind for being small and sickly. The boys had recovered significantly by that point and able to crawl around and get into stuff. Moko was the bigger of the two and had violet hair while his brother's hair was navy. From what Allura could tell they were from the same faction of galra as Krolia, but she couldn't be quite sure that they didn't come from any other factions since they had no way of knowing who their parents were. Either way, they were winning the hearts of just about anyone they met with their big smiles and amazing recovery story.
This was one of those times were it really struck Allura that if she married Lance, that she would find herself a mother to four young kids who would need lots of love and attention. As she watched them, Allura felt for the first time that she wanted that. She didn't think it would happen any time soon, Allura knew that when the time came, she would be ready. That's when something strange happened. Milly picked up a card that had been hidden out of view, while Mirabelle grabbed a small box and all four siblings started towards her.
The twins obviously had no idea what was going on and just wanted to see where their sisters were going. But the girls seemed to be excited about something. Allura was surprised when Milly shyly gave her the card and even more so when she read what it said: "Will you be our mommy?" Then Mirabelle fumbled with the box trying to open it, before giving up and handing it to Allura. It didn't take her long to notice that it had been child proofed in a way that wouldn't draw little eyes. Upon opening it she found a ring that had been safely secured inside with another child proof contraption. "Oh, Lance I'd love to marry you! Whatever made you think of this?" The princess cried in delight.
"The girls kept asking me if you were going to be their mom, so I thought this would be a fun way to do it and Keith helped with the child proofing to keep the kids from choaking on the ring." Lance replied giving her a loving look. This was a moment that Allura would never forget, with the kids around her cheering excitedly and the twins trying to get in her lap, she wondered what could be better? Little did anyone know that over the next few years their family would grow with four more little ones being born into the family.
