Damian remained on the roof for a good hour before deciding that whatever was occurring, the forces deployed would deal with it. However, it was incredibly troubling that so many Hollows had somehow shown up in District One, so close to the Seireitei. He was told to guard the house and was doing so, probably until his father came back. His mother Raya had gone to warn the others who lived on the property and Damian spotted her speaking to a somewhat distressed Tajin and his wife down below near the front porch area.
Roughly ten minutes later, a member of the Inner Court Troop suddenly appeared on the roof to his right. "Sorry to encroach on your property, sir, but I have come bearing an emergency message. Head Captain Yamamoto has called for an immediate Captains meeting but also orders all Vice-Captains attend as well, on duty or not."
"What? Really? All right then. Ill head out immediately." The Inner Court Troop messenger simply nodded, bowed, and left without further word. Something seriously wrong must be going on if the lieutenants are being called as well. Of course, Damian had attended Captains meetings before but only in a few emergency situations he could probably count on one hand where he was called in while officially off-duty.
Damian reached the main building of the Squad One barracks which housed the Captain's meeting hall. Squad One Lieutenant Chojiro Sasakibe appeared to be waiting for him to arrive. "Ah, Lieutenant Vuokufaia. I was instructed to inform you of the news. Unfortunately your grandfather sustained serious injury in battle with an incredibly powerful hollow. We are still looking into the numerous reports of the incidents, but all hollows involved in the assault have been dealt with-" "What do you mean serious injury? Is he still alive? Is he inside-" Damian interrupted the man and tried to run ahead but the old lieutenant caught up and reassured him.
"Captain Vuokufaia is stable and being tended too personally by Captain Unohana, so of course neither will be attending the meeting. However, your father is in charge of the report for Squad Seven and was not injured too badly in the battle. Rest assured the Head Captain will have further information, as he was involved in the defense as well. I apologize for my bluntness in initial explanation." Damn, the Head Captain was there? I must have missed some battle.. Damian stopped running and proceeded to apologize. His heart had skipped a beat when Chojiro had brought up his grandfather being wounded so badly and his worry and temper had risen.
The two men reached the large, impressive door to the Captains meeting hall and found it slightly ajar as to allow faster access. The room was dead silent except for his father Dokvaro speaking to Head Captain Yamamoto near the door. His father looked away momentarily to see his son enter. No doubt he had questions and was worried for his grandfather. Head Captain Yamamoto also glanced at Damian before turning to address the room as Damian walked quickly to his place behind Captain Sutiramaru.
"Now that we are all here, I bring this Captains meeting to order. As most of you are aware, recently there has been a growing presence of direct hollow assaults on the Soul Society, specifically in North Rukongai district 9. "However, myself as well as Captain Vuokufaia and Captain Kyoraku have discovered upon arriving at a most likely related scene in East district 1, these hollows are led by an ancient enemy that I have not seen in a century. While it is not yet fully confirmed the two incidents are remarkably similar and we shall treat the situation as if the same figure was responsible. He is a powerful Vasto Lorde whose self-given name is Sombrazin Sarkrisos. Little is known of his origin, but I must admit that I failed to kill him roughly a century ago. He is an incredibly rare natural born arrancar, meaning he possesses Shinigami-like powers as well as a humanoid form. This combined with his great powers allow him to command legions of lesser hollows to do his bidding. The very fact that Squad Seven Captain was so gravely injured upon encountering and fighting against him is proof enough of this. Though the arrancar fled the scene upon my arrival back to Hueco Mundo, this creature is not to be taken lightly. We cannot afford to simply post extra soldiers to patrol the area. Regular members will no doubt simply fall in battle against this enemy." As such I am assigning Squad 8 captain Shunsui Kyoraku as well as Squad 2 captain Yourichi Shihouin to head this investigation and keep us all updated on the situation. I shall kill this hollow myself in need be," the old man declared dangerously.
Head Captain Yamamoto then proceeded to tap his cane-staff on the floor. " Squad Seven Vice-Captain Vuokufaia, step forward and give your report of the situation before I arrived to the other Captains here." Damian watched as his father walked to the center of the two rows of Captains and began his report. According to him, at least ten Menos Grande had somehow ripped through a garganta and into the Rukongai seemingly out of nowhere. Dozens of lower level hollows as well as some Huge hollows were also involved. The battle took place for roughly ten minutes before the Head Captain had shown up. Dozens of Shinigami had perished in the fighting and dozens more were injured. Damian noticed that his father was doing a good job of keeping his tone steady although he could hear the anger in his voice, after all the supposed ringleader of this attack had nearly killed his father and captain.
Captain Kyoraku then stepped forward and gave his recounting, as Squad 8 is in charge of the Districts' defense. Immediately after he finished the Head Captain gave orders to declare war on this Sombrazin figure and that should any squad members encounter him to not engage and request Captain back up immediately, as well as report to him personally. The founder of the Gotei then issued full war-time orders, including the high alert status for all divisions and mandatory carrying of Zanpakuto, much to many of the Captains and Vice-Captains surprise. Apparently, it seemed this arrancar was incredibly dangerous and an old enemy of the Head Captain's. Damian admitted to himself that he was intrigued by such a conflict involving the legendary man but then turned his thoughts to his grandfather whom he desperately wanted to see. He approached Seinosuke as Captain Unohana was not present for the meeting, still no doubt hard at work in the Squad 4 barracks with the other injured as well.
Seinosuke simply told him to go to Squad 4 and find out for himself, since he didn't have information further as he was not at the scene. Damian simply shook his head at his seemingly uncaring dismissal of the situation and then waited for his father to finish talking to the Head Captain. Damian slowly approached the pair as the Head Captain looked away from Dokvaro and to Damian. "I am going to Squad 4 to check on Koroko myself. I imagine you both wish to join me. Let us go."
Non-Bleach Universe, Dominik's POV
Dominik struggled to get up off of the floor as he contemplated or at least attempted to come to terms with what had just happened. His father, wearing a Shinigami uniform, carrying what looks to be a Zanpakuto, had just use a kido spell on him. A kido spell, from Bleach. Dominik was not one to act as if he understood everything about reality, especially paranormal or supernatural forces existing, but it seemed to have cleared up rather quickly. He had just seen magic performed in front of him, with his eyes and senses, on himself no less.
He didn't even know what to say or if there was anything to say. Was this a dream? Was his food spiked and he was hallucinating? Was his father some kind of shapeshifting demon or alien? What the hell is happening? He opened his mouth but his father beat him to it and begin to speak. "Surprising, huh? I suppose you have a good idea as to why me and your mother are such fans of that manga. Because we are not from this world. Dimension, realm, universe, whatever you want to call it. Trust me, we were a lot more shocked when we found out then the look on your face would make it seem."
Truthfully, Dominik was not having any sort of panic attack nor was he unable to think. His heart was racing but he decided it was best to not run away or fight the situation, and to trust his father. What made him more concerned in the moment was why his father had waited so long to reveal this to him. Had something happened? Was Bleach actually real in this universe and somehow Tite Kubo had a front row seat to this reality somehow? No, that could not be it. The Soul Society would not want that information getting out. Dominik wasn't a scientist but he of course had heard of the multiverse theory, where all existence is technically infinite and every possible reality might exist. Perhaps this included fiction. What was fiction? How many other stories are real? How many worlds? Was it only anime? Was it video games? Movies? Novels?
He couldn't speak and instead just got up and sat on the couch. Before his father could speak again he finally croaked out a question. "If you just used Kido, can you use another spell? I want to make sure I didn't just have some kind of fluke in my perception." Damian simply nodded and performed another spell. "Bakudo #1, Sai!"
And Dominik braced for the pain and suddenly he felt his arms tied behind his back for a few seconds before the spell seemed to be "dropped" by his father. "Want to see another one?" But Dominik simply shook his head. "I suppose you have a pretty interesting story to tell me if this is all real and not some kind of incredibly elaborate prank. Ill listen, but no matter what you say I am going to have a thousand questions." His father just laughed and began walking. He sat in the chair across from the couch in the living room and placed his Zanpakuto on a small table next to the window and looked outside as it was snowing. "Its been 21 years since your mother and I entered this world. I am going to tell you how we came to be here."
Squad 4 Barracks, ICU
Damian arrived at the room where his father was resting. Captain Unohana was seated in a chair in the left corner of the room from the doorway. Damian, Dokvaro, and Yamamoto entered the room and for a moment neither said a word. "How is he, Captain Unohana?" Dokvaro questioned as he was staring at his father. Koroko was covered in bandages and the right part of his face was also covered. He was breathing steadily and appeared to be asleep.
"Captain Vuokufaia is moderately stable and is slowly recovering. He had major damage to his torso, left leg, and left arm. He seems to have taken a direct hit from an extremely powerful Cero. His body also possessed a lingering possession of very dark, hollow traced spiritual energy. He will be out of duty for at least two full weeks from my estimations, but should make a full recovery within a month if nothing else changes." Captain Unohana smiled reassuringly but neither man seemed relieved.
The Head Captain addressed the room. "I can't help but apologize to the both of you. The hollow responsible for this is one I failed to kill a century ago. I had hoped he would not return, but it seemed that was foolish. He commands forces once again and is no doubt much more powerful than when he first attacked the Soul Society. If I get the opportunity I will slay him myself. You both have my word."
The old man rested his gaze on the bedridden captain and then left without a further word. Captain Unohana seemed to read the room and followed after him, leaving Damian and Dokvaro. Damian sat in the seat Unohana was previously in and just stared at his grandfather. Dokvaro closed the door and updated Damian on what had happened when he had arrived at the scene from his point of view.
"I haven't seen that many powerful hollows in one space. There must have been at least two dozen Menos Grande, and while I personally slew four of them, their leader was something else entirely. This arrancar with that incredible sort of spiritual energy and pressure swirling about him was enough to make me almost lose focus. He completely overpowered your grandfather. Not only that, but we lost dozens of Shinigami to him. This is truly dire, Damian. We must be vigilant and avenge them, but we must also be wise. Any opponent who could almost kill a Captain so casually is not to be underestimated. I can't help but believe that if the Head Captain had not arrived, we would have both died. I clashed with this Sombrazin figure and the weight of his strange blade was heavier than anything I have faced. But we must also not back down due to fear. Let us leave him to rest and get back to our divisions. There is nothing we can do here. My father would not want me sitting by his bedside sulking about, he would want us to move forward."
Damian merely stood up and squeezed his grandfathers bandaged hand and nodded. "Ill ask Captain Sutiramaru about some ideas on how to proceed with this situation." Surprisingly, Dokvaro hugged him, a gesture very rare for the man, and left the room. Damian stared at his grandfather's white captain's haori that was drooped over the chair nearest the window. No doubt the Seventh Division was hurting and Dokvaro would have his hands full.
He then left the room after closing the door and made his way outside of the building to find Anii and update her on the situation, though she probably knew about it by now as the entire Seireitei was abuzz with activity. Sure enough he felt her presence in her room over at the officers quarters building area as he flashed stepped towards it.
