Mount Justice
September 5th; 6:32 EST
It was quite, no one knew how to fill the silence. It is heavy, suffocating even... one by one the teens remembered the conversation they had with their mentors.
Flashback to two hours ago
"We completed the mission but we lost Artemis along the way." Aqualad regretly said.
"How?" The bat glared down at the teens.
"During our time in Bialya we incounter a man who could erase our memories."
"How far back?"
"Six months..."
Batman and Manhunter looked at one another and nodded, "We'll have Martian Manhunter double check Miss Martian's work in your minds and from there we'll fine Artemis. For now, stay put."
The teens nodded and walked into their rooms to change. Once they finished they wander into the kitchen with M'gann baking, and everyone else sitting on the floor (Robin, Wally), couch (Superboy), or just standing (Kaldur).
M'gann was mixing so hard to the point there was no more batter in the bowl and couldn't stand the silence anymore and cried out, "I hope she ok. What happened if we just left her at the desert or she was captured or or-!?!?!"
"Miss M, please calm down." Kaldur quickly grabbed the bowl from her shaky arms and try to calm her down.
"Yeah and if anyone can survive the desert or being kidnap. She can and will survive." Robin said as if this would happen.
"And how do you know?"
"I just do, ok."
"Okay. Sigh I hope your right..."
Flashback over
"So what do we know?"
The team try to track her down but she wasn't anywhere found. Robin hacked every system he could think of but nothing came up. Plus the bioship can also track down members of the team, but she couldn't find Artemis either.
"What are the options? Good or bad." Kaldur demanded like the leader he is.
One by one the team said starting with Superboy, Wally, Robin and M'gann.
"She left."
"She destroyed her tracking device."
"She still in the desert."
"She missing and lost."
Kaldur nodded in thought, "And what do our mentors know?"
"As much as we do."
"Not really. They found part of the tracking device."
"But there was a weird energy signature that was in the area that Artemis could have wander into."
"They also found her clothes in that area."
Kaldur sighed knowing it will be awhile till they had any news.
The team only had to wait two days but during those two days no one really wanted to talk but to find Artemis no matter what.
Kaldur felt like he failed Artemis and should've known something was going on but he was dehydrated during that time.
Wally didn't know what to feel but his emotions were everywhere. One moment sad, the next angry and lost... he didn't understand why he's feeling what he's feeling.
Robin knew, he just knew Artemis didn't betrayed them because he would catch her with a punching bag saying she was going to be better than her family. Robin also knew Artemis didn't like being in someone's shadow so for her to just get up and say see ya, doesn't sound like her. Robin made a promise to be better friend to her and to let her know she has a place with them. A family, sort of, but they had to start somewhere so best friends it is then.
M'gann has lived on Earth for a short amount of time well for her at least. Artemis helped her understand what teen girls like to do, kind of, see how Artemis is a bit of a tomboy. But Artemis is M'gann's best friend, who protected her from rude girls, show her how to find her style and to be more confident in her body. M'gann wants her earth sister back.
Superboy doesn't talk much but he feels intensely, so with Artemis missing he's barley holding on to his temper. Because whenever Artemis was around she knew how to speak to him with physical movements. If he was upset or angry, she spared with him. Sad or depressed, she made sweets. Happy and wanted to learn more, she would sit with him and explain the situation better than most people could. They didn't need to speak, just act. Superboy knew he needed to find a way to repay her for her patience.
Their mentors told them to go into the main room.
"The energy source we found had traces of magic, so we had our sorcerers check it out. They will get back to us at the end of the day." The dark knight said.
"So you're saying someone could have teleported her to the unknown?" Robin asked the mentors.
"That is the theory for the time being." Manhunter nodded.
"I hope she okay. I can't imagine what's she feeling. Lost and afraid and not to mention six months of loss memories." M'gann said with a sorrow frown with tears threatening to fall.
"Come on Miss M. This is Artemis we're talking about, I bet she's living a cave waiting for us." Wally said with fake excitement and grin that no one believed.
"Or she was captured."
"Dude! Not helping."
"Just being realistic beside if that did happen she would kick their asses sideways." Superboy shrugged to the fast teen.
Robin can see the super teen is worry for the blonde but has faith she's kicking ass. Robin knew she can take care of herself physically but how much can she take mentally with what she knows at the moment. He knows she has a bad dad and her mom was in prison six months ago but released almost five months ago. And her sister is a piece of work too.
"For now train, and we'll get back to Artemis once we have the information." The bat commanded before leaving the cave.
Soon the teens went back to what they were doing before. Either, the punching bag, homework, baking, reading or hacking.
But there was one thought on all their minds, 'Where is she? And is she safe?'
"Woo-hoo! This is the best day ever!!"
Somewhere in an alternate universe the blonde archer, they're thinking about is having the time of her life at the fight festival and happier than she has ever been in her whole life.
