Welcome back to another chapter of No Way Back! Sorry for the long wait! Great... Another whole month plus some before this release. Sorry about that. I got sick with something when I started to get productive with writing after taking forever to start, and now I am starting a whole new job. Yep, I will finally be able to afford to live. Sorry, but this story just doesn't pay the bills. Therefore, it took a backseat position until I was able to get a feeling of writing again.

Despite the wait, the chapter isn't too long... Sorry if that disappoints some of you. I would rather write to a comfortable length rather than force it. So, it is less than 10K words (maybe even 9K words) of content. Still, a lot happen in this one. It is primarily between Stolas and Kyle.

I guess I should say it since this story had been getting a good amount of attention and support from both Fanficiton and AO3. So, thank you for the growing support, and I hope you all continue to enjoy what I have to produce. I am glad to respond in any way that I can.

Now, onto the Guest Reviews:

ReadingBeta (Guest): Hold on? U mean it wasn't Bee who wants Kyle to come down to their ring? There's someone else? Holy fuckin shit this changes a lot of what I thought was going down. Also their want to kill him?! What is that supposed to gain?! The next chapter will be hectic to see considering Kyle won't be just finding Stolas at his home tonight. Stella will be there too so let's see how this goes. Update soon.

Response: You will just have to wait an see before your questions get answered. Some of your questions are answered in the next chapter, and some aren't. XD

Guest #1: Thank you for the update. Please update soon. I love this story. Now I think I know who is person and why is similar to bee, but I won't tell her name. I will only tell that people often think that her and bee are the same but in reality they are two different person;). So it's her kyle must kill not the poor bee. I can't wait for next chapter

Response: Well, this chapter is finally here. I am happy to hear that you are enjoying the story. I think it is fine if your put in your guesses for what I am planning. You might be right, or maybe not. I just won't tell you. Besides, next chapter will reveal it.

Guest #2: In regards to the guest's review on December 30th, I think she would have just done it for fun since she has already has Vortex.

For the second part though, Kyle would have to ask permission.

But in all honesty, I'm enjoying this story and looking forward to more!

Response: Right you are. She already has Vortex, and I don't like messing with pairing that I view as at least good. I also like your consideration of permission and consent. Good thoughts. Thanks for the review!

lurker no more (Guest): Oh boy am I confused right now. Bee's distress seemed sincere, but she is a Sin so she could be faking it or maybe she has a split personality. Either way, it was a great chapter and I really can't wait for the next one!

And without spoiling anything, The Hazbin Hotel is pretty good so far. I personally think Helluva Boss is the better of the two and the only real complaint I have with the show is that the angels (especially Adam) are portrayed as a bunch of one-dimensional douchebags. I feel that if you're going to have angels as the villains. They should be similar to the ones from Supernatural. Somewhat arrogant and completely devoted to the system that Big G created but still ultimately trying to do what they believe is the right thing.

Response: Maybe her distress is sincere, or maybe it isn't. I guess you will find all of that out next chapter. Hazbin was 'entertaining'. A bit too fast pace for me, and it lacked really good character development. That is my personal opinion. Still, enjoyable. If I cover any of the content of it, I plan on some changes. Thanks for the review!

Guest #3: i love this work, i hope that with the new hazbin hotel lore what you have planned for this universe will not be altered too much now that the revelation of who is pulling the strings against kyle is coming, i am anxious to know how you will develop the period of chapters where blitzo tries to rebuild broken ties and loona is not relevant during this, it would be like an opportunity for our love triangle to take a vacation on earth.

Response: I am happy to hear you like the story. As for Hazbin content, I don't have major plans at the moment. Obviously Lucifer will be included at one point or another, but I have time before that. As for what the future holds, only time will tell...

Guest #4: I have to say, I'm enjoying this story far too much! Also, I'm glad you still kept the whole Hellhound adoption center issue and that Loona brought it to light.

But I have a couple of questions to ask...

1. Kyle, Loona, Blitzo, and Verosika in the same place? What could go... right?

2. Is it possible that the main villain has Beelzebub on a leash, or is she just putting up the facade for her true intentions?

Besides, in the words of the queen: "I'm what you want, not what you need!"

Either way, I'm looking forward to the story's continuation!

Response: Glad to hear you enjoy the story. Now, to your questions:

1. Yeah. It will be a complete shit show. Perhaps some good will come out of it, though.

2. Who knows. I'm not spoiling a single thing.

The story continues now. XD

Guest #5: I'm just going to have to say this: This is undoubtedly one of the best Helluva Boss stories out there! It just feels like it's tapping into the potential that the original show used to have. I'm really looking forward to the next chapter!

I wish you the best!

Response: It is an honor that you hold this story to such a high regard. A lot of work has gone into it. Hopefully I keep it to this level for the chapters to come. I hope you enjoy!

Guest #6: There's no doubt in my mind that the wait for the next chapter will be worth the wait!

Response: I really hope so. It has been a long wait, indeed. XD

Guest #7: We keep heading towards the season finale little by little, and I know I'll be ready for it!

Response: Well, technically Chapter 23 ended the content of Season 1. However, this chapter is the beginning of content for Season 2. Still, we are getting to the end of what is considered a major arc. Hope you enjoy!

Guest #8: I'm really enjoying this story way too much! I can only imagine how much further you'll go with it and I'm looking forward to the season finale!

P.S: If Vivziepop had you on her writing team, I have no doubt you'd be spectacular and keep her stories consistent! But on the other hand, I'm glad you made this story for everyone to enjoy! Good luck to you.

Response: You snuck this review in just in time for the release of this chapter. Now, I am glad that you are enjoying what I have come out with thus far. As for the writing team gig, I would have to send in my CV. XD Jokes aside, I prefer to do this for free and at my own leisure. I doubt she would be interested in my input, anyway. Hope you enjoy this chapter!

...

That's it for reviews. Let's get to it!

Chapter 24: Perspective of Love

POV: Normal

The halls of Stolas's home were completely void of any life in any sense. That was the first sensation I got when I exited my portal. My eyes scanned around the darkness as I slid my sword back into its sheath. There were no lights, no Imp butlers, and nothing to suggest anyone was home. My footsteps then echoed off the walls along the solid floor.

My eyes narrowed for a moment as I contemplated. I couldn't have possibly beaten Stolas and Blitzo here. No doubt the Imp would have driven here like a madman just so he could limit the amount of awkward time he had to spend with Stolas. The Goetian for once would have probably not minded the time to think about what had just transpired. With that, I was confident that I would find Stolas around here somewhere.

I begin to walk around with the conscious feeling of trespassing slowly diminishing. My pace began to pick up as I scanned every room and hallway that I felt Stolas could be in. It took a little bit of time, but I held some confidence that I would run into him soon.

My instincts proved to be correct after a little bit of time as I found Stolas. Well, I was partially correct in my assumptions. The Goetian was in a sorry state as he seemed nearly passed out from drinking some expensive, weird liquor based on the proximity of a bottle near him. It couldn't have been that long, so he must have hit it quite early. He never even made it to a bed or couch to pass out on as he instead preferred the company of his plants.

I mumbled to myself, "So much for thinking he would be thinking about all of this…" I walked up to him, and he never even roused from his inebriated slumber. I looked down at him before saying, "Stolas, wake up."

Stolas shifted a little before mumbling out a few words, "Not now…"

I sigh before kicking his foot somewhat hard. I doubt it brought him any pain, but it was enough to jolt him back to consciousness. He tried shielding his eyes from the 'brightness' of the room while he gazed up at me. He then sat up while he tried to cope with the headache he was enduring. I asked him, "How can you already be dealing with a hangover?"

He didn't directly answer my question. Instead, he rubbed his eyes before asking in a quiet whimper, "Wha… What are you doing here?"

"We need to talk." I took a step backward as Stolas slowly began to rise to his feet. I finally said, "Seeing you here drinking away your sorrows… I now know that I made the right decision."

Stolas began to try and brush off my concerns, "This? Oh, it was nothing more than a harmless night of drinking. My favorite soap opera had quite the twist that I wasn't expecting…"

I shake my head at his lame attempt at lying. I bluntly stated, "Stolas, I saw what happened. I was at Ozzie's." The owl froze in his movements. I continued after scratching the back of my neck before saying, "Yeah… I was on a date, too… With Verosika."

Stolas finally began to slowly piece together what must have transpired on my end. He began to say, "I'm quite alright, Kyle. You shouldn't have concerned yourself with the minor hiccup in mine and Blitzy's relationship. You should get back to your pleasant evening with the Succubus."

Stolas began to slowly move toward his bedroom. I was a little more forceful in my words, "I can't turn back now, and I can see that whatever happened after Ozzie's was more than a 'minor hiccup'. He keeps affecting your judgment. This isn't even the first time this has happened in front of me."

Stolas looked at me with confusion, "What do you mean?"

"Do you not remember what happened at Loo Loo Land?" Stolas seemed to finally come around with a look of realization. I continued with a sure tone, "Yeah, you remember. Blitz and your feelings for him fucked up that day, and even affected your relationship with Octavia. Just…" I rub my temples before saying, "Why is he this special to you? I just don't get it."

Stolas paused for a moment before he fully made it through his doorway. He seemed to be either contemplating doing something, or he was still trying to adjust himself to his hangover. I finally got my answer as he turned around with a pained expression. He said, "Perhaps you will understand if I show you."

My brow furrowed as I tried to see what he meant. I asked, "Show me? What are you going to show me?"

Without answering with words, Stolas ushered me to follow him into his bedroom. I followed behind him to enter the large, dark space. There was a little bit of light entering through the windows and glass doorway that led to his balcony. Through some magic, the space lit up with the lighting of a few candles. Stolas proceeded to look at his bookshelf with some interest. He climbed the small ladder before combing through the many volumes of his collection.

I waited a few seconds before asking, "What are you looking for?"

While his movements were a bit sluggish, Stolas seemed to know exactly what he was looking for. He said, "I have many books in my collection, but there is a simple book that my father passed down to me a while ago. You see, he was a Goetian who was a keeper of many secret things. The book I am looking for should give us glimpses into the past. More specifically, I can use it to show you my memories. Do you understand?"

I could see where this was going. Still, I couldn't help but say, "I don't think I really understand how it will work, but I guess I shall see."

After a few moments, Stolas managed to find the book he was looking for. It was somewhat remarkable looking as it seemed to glow differently than the rest when he touched it. He stepped down from the ladder he was on before he walked over to me. His expression showed some hesitation to it. Despite that, he seemed ready to continue with his plan.

The Goetian began to say, "Well, you little humans aren't around magic all that much anymore. All I need from you is your understanding."

I waited patiently as Stolas allowed the new grimoire to float up into the air right above his hand. It flipped open with the pages turning so that he could look for a specific incantation. It took him a couple of seconds, but then he found exactly what he was looking for. While he seemed depressed from the night, a part of him seemed to be excited to look at his past.

I asked, "What do you plan on showing me exactly?"

Stolas responded, "I know that it may be hard to see through the mess that happened tonight, but I will always remember the magical moment in which I met my Blitzy. I feel as if I owe you some sort of gratitude for suspending your date early out of concern for me. You have truly acted like a friend to me and have treated my daughter with the care that I hoped out of a mentor for her."

Seeing as Stolas seemed to be coming out of his alcoholic daze. I nodded before saying, "And I suppose what you plan on showing me is sensitive?"

With a nod, Stolas added, "Indeed. This is something that I wouldn't show just anyone. Now…" Stolas closed his eyes while he seemed to think deeply. The grimoire floating above his hand seemed to glow a little. He said, "Let me concentrate. It has been some time since I have done any experimental magic."

Not exactly pleased with the idea that Stolas had never done this before, I stood quietly to the side while he figured it out. The more the book glowed, the more it felt like everything around us began slipping away. The scene around us cracked away and it felt like the only two things to remain were Stolas and myself.

While everything was slow to move away, the scene that approached us was rather quick. Without any warning, I felt like I was thrust forward into the familiar courtyard of Stolas's mansion. However, I could see that things were different. It had an unfamiliar seal with a familiar name.

I muttered, "Paimon?"

Stolas groaned out, "Yes, my father. I was the lucky one of my siblings to inherit this home from him. It doesn't help that he was rather absent through my entire upbringing." Looking outward, I could see that there were four different demons in front of us. Two of them walked forward, an older Imp and his son. The other two waiting to receive them were obvious Goetians with one being a father and the other being the son. Seeing as this was Stolas's memory, I could only guess that he was the son. Stolas muttered bitterly, "And this was one of the few times he was present in my life."

It took me only a second to figure out who the smaller Imp was, "Blitz?"

Stolas smiled fondly at seeing his younger self meeting with a young Blitzo. His tone became warmer, "You catch on quickly. I'm betting that you wouldn't have expected that me and Blitzy knew each other from such a young age, hmm?"

I responded, "No, but that wasn't what was going through my mind. I thought that demon royalty was immortal. Also, how the fuck did you, a prince of Hell, manage to meet a clown from a circus?"

Stolas brushed off my questions and concerns, "I am, but it is rather complicated and boring to explain how immortality works here. As for how I met that cute little Imp, it was my birthday and a very special one at that. It was the birthday in which I learned about my responsibilities for the Goetian family. It appeared that I allowed my excitement to get ahead of me since my father decided to also let me know that I was engaged to Stella in an arranged marriage."

I could sense the resentment in his voice at the end. I folded my arms while looking at the scene in front of us. Young Blitzo and his father were both still approaching Stolas and Paimon. I asked, "And?"

"I was rightfully upset. To quell this, my father brought me to the circus in town where I first laid my eyes on him." Stolas pointed to the young Blitzo. He continued, "Somehow, my father managed to secure a deal with Blitz's father so that I could have a friend for the day."

I hadn't heard much about Blitzo's dad, but I knew that he didn't hold much affection for my boss. If I were to guess, I would say that Paimon probably didn't have to try very hard to make this playdate happen. I surmised, "And I assume that this memory is of you meeting him."

Stolas nodded as we slowly walked up so that we could listen. He said, "It is. I will never forget what I felt in this moment."

Our attention turned to the four standing in front of us. Paimon was the first to speak, "There you go, son. Your very own friend for you to play and… do whatever friends do with one another. Happy Birthday."

Despite Paimon's uninterested tone in how he talked to younger Stolas, the owl child seemed to be too focused on the young Imp in front of him. He seemed to be astonished by Blitzo's presence. All four of his eyes were wide with wonder, and his jaw hung open a little. He then found himself straightening his back before speaking in a young, posh voice, "Thank you, Father!"

Paimon dismissed his excitement but smiled as he spoke, "Yes. Of course, son. I put in a ton of effort getting this all together for you."

I could tell that Paimon was lying through his beak, but it didn't seem to have any effect on younger Stolas as he rushed forward to greet the young Blitzo, "So you're going to be my friend!"

The younger Blitzo seemed unsure of this entire circumstance. He rubbed the back of his head before saying, "I guess… My name is Blitzo."

The young Stolas beamed with excitement as he lightly bowed, "I'm Stolas, and-"

Before he could even continue, the young owl was slapped on the back of his head jarring him to silence. Paimon then leaned down with a disapproving look, "Never bow to those lower than us. Did I not teach you that?"

Stolas rubbed the back of his head as if he remembered the contact of that slap. The action was mirrored by the memory version of himself. The younger Stolas responded, "Oh, no you didn't… Apologies, Father."

Paimon deadpanned, "Oh…" He then said in a chiding voice, "Well, you should have known better."

The young Stolas's voice wavered under the scrutiny of his dad as he nodded, "R-Right, Father!"

It seemed like Paimon had enough of this, so he waved his hand before saying, "Now, take your new friend inside to have some fun."

With renewed enthusiasm, the young Stolas grabbed onto Blitzo's arm and started tugging on him to follow. I could see Blitzo turning around to look at his father with hesitation, but a narrowing of his eyes caused the Imp child to follow the prince. After that, Blitzo's father was escorted off the property and told to come back later for his son.

With the scene finishing up, I turned to Stolas and asked, "Okay. I get that this is your first formal meeting with Blitz. Why are you showing me this?"

Stolas replied, "This is the memory in which I made my very first friend. Yes, I do understand that my father did pull some strings to get this playdate to happen. I still don't feel like that depreciates what I felt at that moment. I could see that he was special."

I nodded, "Okay."

Stolas looked over at me with confusion, "That is all you are going to say?"

I knew he expected more out of me, but that was all I wanted to say. I then asked, "I'm interested to see more. What happened after this?"

Seeing this as being another opportunity to live warmer memories, Stolas smiled before changing the scene once again. This time, it didn't feel quite as jarring as before while the scene changed around us. I could tell that it was the same day once things settled down. Younger Stolas and Blitzo were spending time with one another. Blitzo looked kind of bored while the small owl showed his collection of books. It didn't seem like the most fun if I was being honest with myself.

I asked, "This is the first time you had a friend, and you thought that it would be best to show him your books?"

Stolas looked down at me before saying, "Hush you. This was the first time I engaged in any fun activity with someone my age. Now, just watch what happens."

Shaking my head, I look back to see the young Stolas showing Blitzo another book, "Ooo, and this is my book on Botany! It is about growing and tending to different plants and herbs."

It seemed as if the younger Blitzo had the same opinion that I had regarding all of these books, and it wasn't for him. So, the Imp pushed the book down before groaning, "That's boring! Is there anything that you do that doesn't have to do with books? What do you do for fun?"

The small owl seemed confused and somewhat taken aback by Blitzo's words. So, he said, "I find reading fun…"

That didn't seem to be an acceptable answer, so Blitzo thought for a moment before he smiled to himself. He then said, "It isn't. However, I know what we can do that would be fun…"

This seemed to draw some curiosity from the young Stolas, and he looked quizzically at Blitzo, "What?"

As if becoming some sort of actor, Blitzo stood up and he began to fake swordfight an invisible opponent. He spoke in a not entirely convincing accent given that he's just a kid, "We can pretend that we are one of those pirates that we hear about on the surface and plunder the sea, or maybe we can even be cowboys looking to rob a train."

The young Stolas only became more confused. He cocked his head before asking, "And how exactly would we do that?"

This question slightly disappointed Blitzo before he finally came up with a clever response. He said, "Well, we would mostly pretend. Still, we do have a lot of 'props' that we can use. The nicest things in your house can act as the treasure that we are stealing."

"Okay?" The small Stolas seemed confused for a moment before he asked, "Do you play this game a lot with your other friends?"

The young Blitzo seemed nervous to answer the question, "Uhh… Yeah?" He then convinced himself to go along with the ruse, "This is one of the funnest games that I have played."

The young Stolas corrected, "That isn't even a real word, 'funnest'."

The child Imp groaned, "Don't be so boring. C'mon, learn to have fun every once and a while and not act like some librarian."

It was obvious that Blitzo was referring to all the books. While he was initially unsure about this little idea, the young owl decided on the change of pace. While he seemed not entirely on board at first, it only took a moment before he allowed the fun to overcome him. They started small by sneaking in small, expensive items. However, it soon evolved into them bagging some things that were a little more unique.

While this was going on, I asked Stolas, "How is this a pleasant memory? He may be a kid, but Blitz is being manipulative here. He seems more concerned with using your vulnerability for personal gain than he in spending time with you. As far as I can tell, Blitzo is the same fucking Imp here as he is in the present. Things really haven't changed."

Stolas offered no rebuttal other than a struggling expression while he opened his mouth. No words came out, as it seemed that the rose-colored lens that he held for this memory was slowly starting to fall away. No doubt he received some discipline from his father after this as well, and more likely from being tricked by an Imp rather than having their stuff stolen. That only made this memory worse in my mind.

The scene shifted around us to a later part of the day. It was still only young Blitzo and young Stolas, but this time they were hanging out by a large tree. In the young Goetian's grasp was the familiar grimoire that I.M.P. uses now. I could see that Stolas was trying to convince me of what this all meant. Perhaps he even wanted to convince himself in some way.

As the two chatted about what they wanted to do in the future, Stolas beside me said, "Ahh, I remember this moment. I was so enthralled with the idea of serving my duties, and so I decided to tell Blitz all about them. He even shared his little idea of running his own circus business. It may seem like such a silly idea, but it meant a lot to me to hear his dreams. This was when I finally knew what it felt like to have a real friend. This moment stands out to me as one of the happiest moments of my existence."

While I would admit that this moment seemed rather warming to witness, I felt like he was selling other happy moments short just to play along with the notion that he needs Blitzo in his life. So, I shake my head, "I see that. Blitz is the one that you consider to be your first friend. Not only that, but I sense that you hold a little bit of a crush for him even back then." While he never seemed vulnerable to me before, Stolas seemed to be showing his emotions on this. Disregarding this, I add, "You've found happiness without him. Not only that, but he has seemed to be bringing more misery to you than happiness recently."

The scene around us slowly faded away before Stolas turned to look down at me. He asked, "May I inquire what you are suggesting?"

I asked, "Can you show me one of my memories?"

Thinking for a moment, Stolas finally responded, "I don't see a reason why we couldn't. Is there a reason why you want to show me something?"

I nod, "Perspective." This didn't seem to entirely answer Stolas's question. I elaborated, "While you may have been there, you don't quite see everything that you have around you. You are so convinced that you need Blitz. He is, for some reason or another, an Imp that you find special. But don't you see that other moments have been just as powerful for you?"

Stolas swallowed as if his throat were dry, "What do you want to show me?"

"A memory that we share, but from my perspective." I looked at him trying to let those words sink in. I then asked, "So, how do we do this?"

Stolas allowed for the grimoire to float above his grasp. He instructed, "Think on this memory. Try to picture clear moments. Maybe that is the smell in the air, the feelings that you experienced, or perhaps what you saw. I will do the rest to bring us there."

Just as instructed, I began to focus on what I could recall of the memory. It took longer than when Stolas was in control, but soon the scene began to form around us. Stolas was surprised to see that we had appeared right outside the door to his study. It was only me there for a moment as I was getting close to entering.

Out of either respect for what he was watching, or from sheer curiosity, Stolas remained silent and attentive. I felt the pressure of remembering finally become easier until I no longer had to focus for the scene to happen. I was now able to watch right at the moment that the memory of me knocked on the door to Stolas's study. A muffled 'enter' could be heard.

When the door opened, I could see memory Stolas smile as memory me entered, "Ahh, Kyle! I am glad that you are here. I am just in the middle of today's lesson."

With him were both Octavia and Loona. They both smiled over at me, but I felt a rush of warmth when I saw Loona's expression. I never realized then, but there was a certain assurance and life that came to her eyes when she looked upon me. I felt warm watching it. My voice cut through the air as memory me spoke, "What's the lesson for today?"

The memory of Stolas smirked before saying, "It is nothing too spectacular. Loona here was interested in the section on more defensive types of magic. I saw nothing more fitting than working on that which protects the mind."

Octavia then chimed in with a certain level of teasing, "Yeah, and she isn't doing a very good job at it. I'm learning more and more about her than I thought I would. Personal things."

There was a small growl of frustration from Loona, but there was a hint of smiling on her lips. However, it was Stolas who responded to her teasing, "Now, Via, it isn't kind to point out failures of those growing with you. I remember a time not too long ago when you were the one getting frustrated. I remember when making a simple flame wasn't so simple for you."

Like a typical teen, Octavia groaned, "Ugh, dad! Don't remind me…"

Back with us watching the memory, Stolas chuckled to himself before saying, "I remember this. This was only last week. I don't see why we are watching this. I know what happens."

I let out a small sigh seeing as he wasn't entirely getting the point. So, I responded, "You are acting like you are completely alone. Yes, I know about how you are in a shit, loveless marriage. When meeting her, I could tell that your wife, ex-wife, or whatever you want to call her, is a nasty, conniving woman. In your pursuit of trying to be with Blitz, I think that you forget that you also have this…"

I motion toward the scene to show the warm tone that the room took on. Despite Via's usual demeanor, and how Loona tended to be a bit cold, both of them seemed to be genuinely having fun. Their smiles were infectious seeing as the memory version of Stolas soon joined in on their laughter. It was a minor moment that was very brief, but I found it to be very powerful.

I added, "You will never be alone. You have a choice in whether you want to continue this fantasy of you and Blitz. If I remember correctly, the foundation that you have is based solely on an agreement that you share with my boss. You are destined to go through this cycle of infatuation and then pain. With your daughter, there is none of that. There is no risk of losing anyone else, and you won't end up getting hurt at the end of the day."

"I…" Stolas held his tongue for a moment longer as he tried to explain himself. He finally formulated the right words, "What I feel for my daughter isn't the same as what I feel for Blitzy. I love Via with all of my heart, but what I yearn for is a connection that is more than that. I even understand that I have others who won't abandon me, but it isn't enough. I feel valued in a way that my daughter nor you and Loona can give me."

I shook my head, "It was never going to work. What you want and what you have created are two different things. As much as I would like to put the blame solely on Blitz for what happened, I know that you helped create the circumstances for all of this by giving him your grimoire. You can't hold something over someone and expect your relationship to become anything but a transaction. He won't do anything to threaten that bargain, and that means going along with things like Loo Loo Land and your 'date' tonight. What you want isn't real and cannot happen. However, this…" I point to the scene around us, "This is real."

While he allowed my words to sink in, Stolas continued to watch the scene happening before him. He truly was an enigma when he was this quiet. He didn't allow any of his emotions to betray his thoughts. His blank expression was in complete contradiction to the laughter that he saw before him. However, I could somehow feel that Stolas was starting to realize that my words were holding the truth.

I looked back and watched as the memory version of myself spoke, "Perhaps you can clue me into what you are learning, Via." I watched as my doppelganger sat right beside Loona. He, or rather 'I', got up close to her. Looking at it now, I could see the minor blush forming on her face. Still, he continued to speak, "How can you read someone?"

The owlette explained, "It's just this lesson in the book." She pointed down at the page as she continued, "It's like reading someone's mind, but it also isn't."

The memory of Stolas nodded in agreement while he smiled, "That's somewhat correct, my dear. However, it is more like an interrogation." He pointed at the sword on my double's body. He then said, "I'm not entirely sure how your abilities work concerning that weapon, but I recall you also being interested in defensive magics, and this is what this lesson should be about. My daughter seems to be forgetting that she should also be learning this as well instead of tormenting poor Loona."

Octavia simply shrugged before saying, "I gave her a shot. She didn't get anywhere with it." She looked back to the Hellhound, "She's gonna have real problems if she runs into anyone more challenging than me."

While Loona growled, the other me said, "Is that so? She didn't get anything out of you?"

The was a small pause before Via said, "Well, not really…"

This time, Loona smirked before saying, "That's not true. I found out that 'daddy's little girl' likes it when her dad sings to her."

Octavia's face darkened in embarrassment before she retorted, "O-Oh yeah?! Well, maybe I should tell Kyle that-"

That was when her father interjected, "Okay, that's enough you two. I swear, these combative attitudes would be far more enjoyable had you two directed them toward your lessons instead of one another."

Back with the two of us watching, I noticed that Stolas had a minor smile form on his face. I held my tongue for a moment while I waited to see what he would say. I never even allowed my hopes to get up before the smile on his face disappeared. It was then replaced by a troubled look.

Stolas waved away the scene before letting out a sigh, "Yes, I am happy when I am teaching the two of them. She may not know it, but your Hellhound friend can be sharp. She also cares deeply about you."

I nod, "I know… She's a great friend, but this isn't about me or her. I showed you that to remind you that you have those around you that care deeply about YOU. Loona nor your daughter bring you sadness and misery, and you don't have to sacrifice your relationships with others in hopes of just being with them."

Stolas argued back politely, "I know, I know… Perhaps you are right, but Blitzy offers me something that I have never gotten from anyone." With his book floating up again, Stolas said, "I get something from him that I get from no one else."

The scene shifted back to Stolas's bedroom. I was jarred by what was happening in front of me. Stolas and Blitzo looked to be about the age they were now. Stolas was on his back with a nervous expression while Blitzo crawled toward him. However, instead of being completely focused on the Goetian in front of him, his eyes wandered to the grimoire on the floor. I could see where the scene was heading.

I looked at Stolas with a semi-irritated look, "I swear, if I have to watch you two have sex, I am walking out of here."

Stolas shook his head, "Hush, you. I am not going to show you my bedroom activities. I am afraid that those moments are only for him and me. However,…" He walked over to the bed and looked down with a curious expression. He added, "I had forgotten what I felt in this moment. Pure, unadulterated passion? True love? Maybe it was just lust. I don't remember…"

My eyes narrowed a little while I thought about what he was trying to say, "Stolas, those aren't questions that you should be asking. If you don't even know the reason why you are so fascinated by Blitz, then perhaps digging deeper isn't going to reveal the results you are hoping for."

Stolas became stiff as he got closer to the bed. He didn't admit to why we were here initially as he stood there for a second watching the version of himself on the bed being nervous about the advances that Blitzo made. He finally responded to me, "Just as you had wanted for the memory you showed me, maybe I just need a moment to watch it all again. There must have been something in the moment that I had that just isn't with me now. Or maybe… Maybe I now have the opportunity to take a perspective that I didn't then."

Understanding that I was now just a part of the ride while Stolas figured this out for himself, I nodded. I waited patiently while everything happened in front of me. The Goetian himself was contemplating what may have been going through his mind at this moment. It seemed like the memory version of himself caught onto how his grimoire was missing from his shelf. Then Blitzo bit onto his shoulder, catching his attention. His nervousness melted away.

The current Stolas rubbed his shoulder in remembrance of this feeling. However, his lingering expression seemed to sour as he now had this opportunity to fully see that Blitzo was more interested in snatching his grimoire than he was in this moment of passion. The Imp then resorted to blindfolding the owl and tying his hands to the frame of his bed. During this, I remain silently hopeful that Stolas wasn't lying about not seeing too much.

Blitzo then looked as if he were going to leave Stolas tied up and anticipatory. He grabbed the grimoire as he headed for the window. As he walked away, the tied-up Stolas said, "It's been so long since I've felt anything like this. I haven't felt wanted like this in so long, and for it to be my very first friend who wants me… Well, I can't describe the feeling. I knew you would return to me."

Blitzo stopped in his tracks when he heard this. He seemed completely shamed by the fact that Stolas wasn't some pompous Goetian who had forgotten about him over the years. He lightly approached again before asking, "What did you say?"

Knowing where he now was, the bound Stolas turned his head before elaborating, "You sound shocked that I remember you, but I could never forget about you, Blitzy. I would never forget my very first friend."

There was a look of guilt that overcame Blitzo as he contemplated what he should do. He seemed as if he were about to continue stepping toward the window, but he seemed to mutter a swear under his breath before he turned around. He finally said, "Alright, fine. I guess I will have time to do this."

As Blitzo began to walk back to the bed to start engaging in risqué activities, the scene started to dwindle into the background. However, instead of being left in complete darkness, the present setting came back into view. We were once again in Stolas's room in the middle of the night. The two of us were now completely alone. I remained completely silent as I waited to see what Stolas did next.

The Ars Goetian stood there for a moment as he looked down at the bed where he had shared countless nights of 'passion' with the Imp he so dearly cared for. There wasn't even a wrinkle in the sheets as he traced his fingers over the fabric. Right now, I couldn't quite figure out what was going through his mind. Was he going to remain steadfast in his fantasy, or did he realize that something needed to change? I knew that he had come to some conclusion and that I was probably going to figure out what it was very soon.

Stolas's hand finally retracted from his sheets as he let out a small sigh. He evenly stated, "I guess that is where this all started… I only found out that he stole my grimoire when that night had ended. Instead of getting angry with Blitz, I decided that the best course of action was to complete a transaction. Knowing that he wanted it to conduct his business up in your world, we came to an agreement that he gets to use it as he pleases as long as he… well…"

Seeing that Stolas was being polite for my sake, I nodded in response before saying, "Yeah, if he fucks you occasionally. I was in the army, Stolas. That may not mean much to you, but I have heard way worse things than that."

There was a huff of laughter from Stolas before he settled into a contemplative expression. He continued, "Perhaps that was my grave error in this circumstance. Even from the beginning, I held more admiration for him than just wishing to share my bed with him. Leaving this all up to a business agreement… Well, I suppose I shouldn't be surprised by the outcome of nights like this one. I was just yearning that this all developed into something more…"

I let out a sigh, "Yeah, I have also found out that anything to do with Blitz is messy. Even when he isn't completely involved, he still manages to be a pain in the ass. So, I cannot imagine what it is like to be dealing with this."

Stolas's expression moved to a more depressed one as he moved back to his bookshelf. He placed the book in his grasp back on the shelf before asking, "I suppose that this now all comes down to a choice. All of this has opened my eyes to what I have allowed to happen."

I was about to respond with my thoughts, but I knew that I had made my position clear enough. So, I folded my arms before stating, "It does come down to a choice."

The was a hollowed laugh from Stolas before he shook his head, "Even with all of this, I don't want to just give up on this, on… him. I feel that there could be real feeling that could evolve from this…"

When he failed to come up with the right word, I responded, "Contract? Deal? Agreement?"

There was a simple nod from Stolas, "I suppose any of those terms would fit what Blitz and I currently have." He then shook his head with a semi-bitter look plastered on his face, "Perhaps that was my mistake in all of this. Even though I was clueless as to what I was doing, I still used my power over Blitz when trying to be romantic with him. Building a foundation on a business transaction where I hold all the power was only going to end in heartache for me and him. He was right. I shouldn't have pretended that what we have is anything more than me wanting him to fuck me." Stolas sighed before closing his eyes and holding onto his head, "If I am going to right this wrong, then I need us to be on equal ground. That is what I want. I want him to have an actual choice in the matter."

Seeing that he was depressed at the realization of what Blitzo and him had, I took on a softer tone, "How do you intend to do that? You know that continuing with what you have is only going to make you both miserable and that it won't go anywhere. Not only that, but you also have a daughter to think about. Octavia can't grow up without her father there for her." I remained skeptical before asking, "How do you intend to fix this and give him a choice? Do you really need to try with him anymore?"

Stolas nodded in understanding. He seemed to have some resolution in what he needed to do, "I don't want to hurt myself, and even more so, I don't want to hurt my daughter. So, I won't allow for this to continue as it is." There was some reluctance from the owl demon as he said the next part, "But I need to know that a relationship with him isn't impossible. If I don't, I will always be stuck on what could be."

I held back my reservations, "Okay, fine. You seem intent on getting closure. I understand that, but you must know that this will likely lead to more disappointment. I don't want to say it, but I have come to know about Blitzo's difficulty in making the right decisions." I think back to just earlier tonight with his betrayal of trust with Moxxie and Millie. I continue, "I have no right to stop you, so I won't. Still, do you mind me asking what you plan on doing?"

Stolas walked over to his bookshelf in search of a specific book. After a moment, he pulled one out and began searching the pages. When satisfied, he handed it to me. He said, "I plan on giving him exactly what he wants."

I raised a brow in confusion before looking down at the pages. All I could tell was that I was now looking at what looked to be some sort of crystal. It took me a moment, but I could recall seeing something like this from somewhere. I mutter, "I recognize this…"

Stolas nodded, "I'm not entirely surprised. If you can't remember the name of it, this is an Asmodean Crystal. I know that Miss Mayday has one in her possession seeing as she goes up to the surface. It is usually only given to demons of Lust by Asmodeus himself since he is the only one who can procure one. Essentially, this is what allows Hellborn to access the human world without magical artifacts like my grimoire that I have entrusted to Blitzy's little killing business, and now to your Hellhound friend."

Rubbing my chin in thought, I connect the dots slowly, "So, you want to give him this so he can continue his business without your book…"

Sadness reemerged in Stolas's gaze, "Precisely. Giving him this will give him his freedom. With this, I should know exactly where he stands."

I knew that this could end disastrously, but at the same time, I knew that this was probably Stolas's best option for getting the answers he needed. Blitzo had made far too many mistakes when it came to everyone he had ever known, and at the top of that list was Stolas. There weren't many reasons for me to be optimistic. However, at the same time, I hoped for the best outcome in all of this. There was one thing I needed to say.

I looked at Stolas, "Regardless of how all of this turns out, don't forget about everything else you have. At the end of the day, you still have a daughter who loves you very much, and you also have friends who will stick by you. Don't abandon them."

While he was still in a depressed mood, Stolas managed to hold a smile, "I don't intend to. Should I forget that, do tell me. I wish to not damage what I have left."

I give a nod before letting out a sigh. I looked to the window to see how dark it had gotten, "It is getting late. I should probably head out. I can imagine that I will have to deal with my own mess in the morning. Verosika doesn't seem to be someone who would like a date night to be cut short."

Stolas opened his mouth to respond, but the sound of a door slamming echoed to where we were. Stolas frowned, "What could Stella possibly be doing here?"

I shrugged, "No idea. She is your ex-wife, after all."

Stolas's gaze became critical, "No, she isn't officially. If I am going to move forward with my plan, then I need to move on with this. It's time for me to get the divorce."

I nod my head with an impressed look, "Well, I support that decision. For some reason, I can't imagine that she will be too pleased with that."

I heard Stella get frustrated about something as she yelled out, "WHERE IS MY USELESS EMBARASSMENT OF A HUSBAND!"

Looking over to Stolas, "Umm, you want me to stay around for this? She sounds like she is out for blood."

Stolas waved me off, "No, this is just how she usually vents her frustrations. She yells, she smashes some things, and she would even abuse the little staff if they were here. I will be fine." He stood up straight to show a little more confidence, "Besides, I need to do this alone. It is high time that I stood up to that woman and did what is right for not only me but for Via as well."

"Okay, then I will take my leave and give you two space." I began walking to the door before I turned around to say one last thing, "Take care of yourself, Stolas, but don't forget that your choices will affect others."

There was only a nod from the Goetian before I opened his door to leave. I turned to see Stella walking at a fast pace with clenched fists, a scowl, and her eyes glaring right at the door I'd just walked through. I began to walk forward expecting her to say something to me. However, she didn't even give me a side-eyed glace before she pushed past me so that she could confront Stolas. The door slammed behind her giving me no indication as to what would be said between the two. I felt the pull to make sure Stolas would be alright, but I had to trust him.

With a troubled sigh, I turned and started to leave Stolas's estate. Other than a few broken vases, likely from Stella, there was still no one else occupying the halls. I followed the same path as before with my steps clicking against the hard floors. Before I knew it, I was back outside in the night.

I let out a nice breath as I prepared to get myself back home. I drew the sword from its sheath before I got ready to swing it down. However, the sound of some buzzing caught my ear causing me to stop my movement. I tried to think where it was coming from, and where it was going. I finally realized that it was coming from behind me. Not only that, but it was coming…

Without thinking about it anymore, I turned around and sliced my sword down cleanly cutting the wings off the mechanical contraption speeding toward me. It skirted across Stolas's lawn after I cut it down. My heart was beating fast while I clutched my weapon while staring at the thing that had been flying at me.

I kept the sword in my hand as I walked slowly over what looked to be a drone. It wasn't one that I had seen constantly while living on the surface. Instead, the thing looked far more menacing. It only had two wings. To me, it looked to be designed like some sort of mechanical hornet. Located at its eyes were two, tiny red dots on black orbs.

I mouthed, 'What the fuck?'

I slowly walked up to the drone with the sword ready. However, when the eyes on the machine dimmed to darkness, I lowered the sword. I kneeled to check it out to see if there was any indication as to where it may have come from. I was surprised to see that it held some sort of recording unit within it. From here, I could only guess that this thing was used for surveillance of some kind.

I picked up the recorder before checking it out. A video was playing on it, and it took me a few seconds to piece together what I was looking at. My eyes widened when I saw Loona confronting what looked to be some other Hellhound, yet this one seemed to be different than the others. She was far more colorful, had four arms, and had insect wings on her back. She then seemed to change forms causing the video to flicker. In the video was also Tex and, somehow, Verosika.

Looking at the new demonic figure, I already had a guess who it was. Before I could even say anything, I felt the cold, deep tone of Azazel's voice pass through my head, "Beelzebub."

I gritted my teeth, "Why send me a video?"

Azazel spoke plainly, "Use that head of yours. That little contraption was to deliver you this video along with a message. It is a challenge. For one reason or another, they want a fight with you. It looks like those two are serving as the bait."

I release a strong breath to hold back my anger, "This isn't the first fucking time! They've been captured before! I need to get them!"

"NO!" Azazel's voice gave me a headache before it subsided. It was almost like having my ears hurt from a loud sound inside my head. He continued, "Do you not understand?! This is a trap! If you go, then this will only be playing into their hands. This will be playing into Beelzebub's hands. You are simply not ready for this kind of fight!"

There wasn't even any hesitation from me. I spoke without wavering, "I know I'm not ready! I don't know what Beelzebub is capable of, and I don't know what she is like…" I thought to myself before saying under my breath, "Quite frankly, why would she send me a video of herself? Wouldn't the point of this be to conceal her identity and powers?"

Azazel expressed disapproval, "It doesn't matter. I will not have my plans foiled by such a pathetic attempt at luring you there. They are playing on your human emotions!"

"Quiet!" Surprisingly, Azazel stopped speaking allowing me to get my word in, "I'm going to get them out of there. It's a trap. I know that. I still won't let Loona, Verosika, or anyone else I care about deal with this mess. If I am going to fight her, then I am going to do it at an opportunity where and when I know it will happen. If I don't do it now, then this could happen when I am even less prepared."

Azazel growled, "You are making a mistake, human. Your magic is weak, so I cannot help you if you go through with this. I am essentially cut off from you if you go there. This is your last chance to trust in your friends."

Having a feeling of what he meant by that, I answered his impasse by cutting a portal to where I needed to go. I then said, "I don't abandon my friends, Azazel. I am done watching those I care about make sacrifices."

There was a moment of silence before Azazel spoke blankly, "So be it."

With that, I took a deep breath. Regardless of what happens, I knew that I would have to face this foe face-to-face. I took my first steps into the portal leaving behind the scenery of Pride. I didn't know where I was going. All I knew was that I was walking straight into a trap.

That's all I have to offer. Obviously, we are approaching a fight. Azazel knows it, Kyle knows it, and whomever set the trap knows it. What they don't know is how it is all going to go down. Let's just say that it won't go as planned for any of them. With that, I hope to get the next chapter out faster than this one. XD

I should say that a majority of the chapter was proofread by none other than Stingywingy, who has helped before with this story. If you have the time to, please check out the story he co-writes, Star Trek Redemption Part 1: To Boldly Go

If you are enjoying the story, I implore you to support the story in any way you see fit. I very much enjoy hearing and seeing all that good stuff from you guys. I am always happy to answer questions as well. I usually work on the chapter when I am feeling motivated, so it is hard to know when it will release.

Now, if anyone is interested, I am going to leave the discord channel code available to any of you. I usually ask for small details, and some ideas are discussed with others on what I should do with the story. You can even just chat with others in it.
