Senshi Sabers
Chapter 39
Madigan felt nervous as the armored car convoy headed out from the high security hotel she had been staying at. It was well past the deadline for Mistress Nine's threat against her, so Seiya was moving her to a fully secure facility he owned. Along with his guards there were ADP units stationed on the road, and she suspected the Senshi were around too.
"How far are we?" Madigan asked the driver nervously.
"Over half way," he replied. "Don't worry... I'm certain it was all a bluff."
"Oh, famous last words," Madigan muttered.
In fact, they were within a mile of the facility when the first car exploded violently.
"ACK!" Madigan yelped as the car rocked violently.
The driver cursed wildly, trying to keep control of the car, as the vehicle ahead of them burned. "What WAS that?" he yelped.
"I..." Madigan started when a mop of naked bioboomers raced out from a open manhole. They swarmed the nearest security car and tore it apart, attacking with incredible ferocity.
"Unit 1, under attack!" the driver frantically radioed. "Request assistance!"
'No, really?' Madigan thought, the now gore splattered bioboomers advancing on them, walking slow but steadily.
Outside, bullets began to strike them, but the bioboomers seemingly ignored the strikes. Madigan blinked, realizing the normal 'skin' had been replaced with a armor compound. The hands also ended in clawed fingers, apparently strong enough to tear metal.
"Fuck!" Usagi blurted as even armor piercing slugs bounced off.
"COVER ME," Naru ordered as she braced a rifle on the door of the cruiser and took aim. She steadied, then fired, the recoil of the weapon jerking her back.
THAT worked, the high velocity, heavy slug splattering a bioboomer's head. Sadly it also drew the bioboomers attention, and the whole mob turned to look at the cops.
"Oh shit," Usagi muttered.
Just then a ADP copter buzzed the crowd, opening up with it's rotary cannon. That helped pin the attackers down a bit, even as the car containing Madigan tried to escape.
Beryl, the experimental combat leader, strove the overcome the confusion of combat. This should have been straight forward: stop the convoy, reach Madigan, eliminate her, leave. Simple. But things kept happening...
"Unit 23. Throw debris at the copter, drive it back," Beryl ordered. "Units 19 through 22. Engage the police," she commanded.
"We will obey," they chorused.
"Remaining units, go after Madigan," Beryl said as they charged.

"The first generation combat models are doing less well than I hoped," Mistress Nine frowned slightly. The two women were watching a live feed of the battle from local security cameras and such, the links scrambled so they couldn't be traced.
Viluy nodded, "Well, they are our first attempt, ma'am. We are still incorperating the new technology we acquired."
The 'first generation' type they were deploying today were, fundamentally, a regular model bioboomer with added armor, claws and a few other augmentations. This attack was partially a test run to see if they would be effective in the field. So far, it was looking doubtful.
"And they popped another one," Viluy winced as the copter gunned down another one. Then a piece of flung wreckage clipped it, sending it spiralling away.
Mistress Nine nodded. The armor they had grafted onto the bioboomers was an advanced composite, able to resist small arms and even some armor piercing rounds. Sadly the heavy rifles the cops had in reserve were too much for it.
"They should be effective against ordinary citizens," Nine mused, "but we will need better soldiers against police and armed security forces."
"Do you think Beryl will succeed?" Viluy wondered as the police and ADP took out the group of bioboomers meant to engage them.
"She has a sizable force, assuming she can get to Madigan in time," Nine noted calmly, watching emotionlessly as a bioboomer tore a cop apart.
"And assuming no other forces arrive...," Viluy started, then blinked as several armored figures appeared on screen.
Nine blinked. "How does the phrase go," she mused, "you HAD to say it?"
"Sorry, ma'am," Viluy apologized meekly.

Rei Hino touched down in her armor, assessing the situation. The ADP/Cops/Starlight security forces had all been hit hard, there were bodies scattered everywhere. On the plus side, they had also taken out a fair number of bioboomers, too.
Madigan and her driver were fleeing on foot, having abandoned the car. Dumb, but understandable as the road was blocked...
Minako and Makoto landed seconds later, as Ami's voice came over the suit radios. "Our main priority is getting Madigan clear," she ordered.
"Got it," Rei murmured as she fired her arm cannon, plunging a needle into a bioboomer's head.
Mina fired off a laser, cutting another attacker in too.
"The red headed one is hanging back. Odd," Makoto noted as she calmly smashed a bioboomer in the face, staggering it.
The woman in back seemed to assess the situation. Twelve or so remaining bioboomers, three Sabers, plus the surviving cops and others. She mentally calculated the odd, then makes a snap decision. With a gesture she sent the remaining bioboomers at then, then ran away.
"She ran off?" Mina blinked.
"She ran off?" Mistress Nine echoed, surprised.
"ACK!" Makoto yelped as the bioboomers swarmed over her.
Makoto's armor was the close range, combat type, but even it could be overwhelmed by numbers. Before she could punch or slice her enemies, they were piling on and pinning her to the ground. Their claws raked at the armor, trying to get inside.
"Shit!" Rei cursed, raising her arm cannon and firing. She had to be careful not to hit Makoto in the mass of flesh. On the plus side, she had LOTS of targets.
"Mina, leave them to handle the bioboomers. Make sure that Madigan gets clear," Ami ordered over the suit radios.
"But Mako...,: Mina yelped.
"She'll be fine. The mission takes priority," Ami told her firmly.
Mina grit her teeth. Only Ami could think that leaving BOTH their girlfriends in mortal danger was a GOOD idea. Still... "Understood," she bit out, looking around for Madigan.
The executive and her driver were limping towards the Starlight facility. Both were visibly wounded, but thankfully not seriously. Mina bounded up to them, "How badly are you hurt?"
"Leg wound. Hurts like a bastard," Madigan admitted.
"You need to get her to...," the driver started, then shook his head. He was bleeding fairly vigorously from a scalp wound.
"Right. We're going to get you to safety," Mina briskly said, picking up Madigan and racing off on boot jets. Hopefully the driver understood she had to save Madigan first...
"Holy shit," the security guy gaped as they arrived, bouncing along using the armor's boot jets.
"I'm going to be sick," Madigan groaned.
"Tell Mr Kou we delivered her safely. Now I need to go help my friends kick some ass," Mina saluted cheerfully then raced off.
"Good luck!" the security guy called.
Madigan ignored that, staggering into the secured building. The high walls and armed guards were comforting, though she wondered why they hadn't gone out to help them. 'Well disciplined, or just assholes?' she wondered tiredly.
"That leg's gotta hurt," the security guy noted obviously, "I'll get someone to take you to the medical bay."
"Thank you," Madigan answered.
"Miss Anri! We have a case for you." the guard called.
The cheerful nurse smiled at the guard, then beamed at Madigan. "Take a seat over here," Anri instructed, "I'll get you something for the pain."
Madigan sighed, sitting back on the medical table. 'Safe at last...,' she thought.
Ker-clunk.
Madigan looked up to see a pistol pointed right at her face. Anri smiled then shrugged, "Sorry. Mistress' orders."
With a loud bang the gun went off, plastering the wall with Madigan's blood and brains. Anri then shot her in the chest, just to be completely sure.
Anri calmly reloaded her pistol as she heard alarms go off. It was almost certain she couldn't get out of the facility, but she had expected that. So she would carry out her secondary mission, and do as much damage as she could before she was destroyed...

"WHAT?" Seiya yelped when he got the news.
"They had a inside man," Janice reported tiredly. "They killed Madigan in the infirmary, then shot up the facility."
"Well, fuck..." Seiya sighed.
To be continued...
Notes: Well, the Madigan subplot was dragging, and this way we got some violence and hopefully a surprise. Heh.
