So another work from me! This time its going to be a series of one-shots Lyon-Centric because this character doesn't get enough love in the fandom in my opinion. So i'll accept requests (No Lemons and preferably no romance because I suck at writing both) though I cant promise if or when i'll write them. I hope you enjoy. :)

It had all started with a question in a small town in the northern continent. A young boy around 8 years old with peculiar spiky silver hair was staring up at a group of wizards with a wide hopeful smile on his face as he asked them a simple question. 'Who was the strongest wizard.'

"Ah, the strongest one around here would have to be Ur." One of them said in thought. "She holed up in the mountains a few years ago after she lost her daughter."

"I don't think we've ever had a wizard in these parts as skilled as Ur…" Another one said.

"Ur,huh?" The young boy said, his voice full of awe. "Do you think she'd agree to teach me?"

One of the wizards at the table wearing a pointy hat laughed. "I doubt it, other than taking odd jobs around the country once in a blue moon she's basically a hermit."

However the boy would not be deterred. "Where can I find her?" He asked determination in his gaze.

Taking pity on the boy one of the other wizards told him the name of the mountain Ur had her resident at. "You sure kid? it's a 5 days travel just to get to the foot of the mountain." He said.

"I'll be fine!" The boy said before hurrying out the door, all of the wizards realized they never got the name of the boy, or how he was going to get there.

The boy panted as he looked at the long trail he had been following, his breath coming out in clouds and his body shaking from a mixture of the cold, excitement and exertion. He had managed to at first smuggle himself in a wagon transporting bottles of alcohol towards a town that was along the journey of where he needed to go.

Unfortunately had gotten caught sneaking out of it and was chased by the man demanding money for the ride he had gotten. But the boy was quick and clever, he knew how to escape such people only coming out of it with a few small scratches and a bruise on his back from when the man threw a rock at him.

He then had in exchange for helping an old lady in her shop for one day cleaning tables and sweeping the floor he was given a ride the rest of the way to the mountain he was going to. He was even given a small bit of food. He had managed to find the town that Ur had frequented part of the way up the mountain. He had been told that he would need to follow the trail until the end of it then head west and that's where her cabin would be.

However before the shopkeeper could tell him it would be better to wait till morning because it would be dark by the end he got to the end of the trial and he was too lightly dressed to be going up such a cold mountain he was gone.

Now finding himself at the end of the trail he looked at the sky seeing the sun was setting in the horizon he knew the sun set in the west so he just needed to head that way! He began walking through the snow stumbling slightly at first before continuing onward. Determination in his slanted eyes.

Ur had been reading a book when she heard a soft knock. She blinked looking up wondering if a bird was tapping on her roof or something. She looked at the clock realizing it was almost midnight, she must have been more into the book then she thought. Picking up her bookmark and putting it in its place she closed the book and stood up stretching when she heard the knock again.

That was not coming from the roof, or the window, actually it sounded like it was coming from ... .the knocking came again and she stared. She can't remember the last time she had a visitor come to her door, and certainly never in the middle of the night. Either some weirdly lost traveler arrived or an enemy that had been lucky enough not to be arrested. She slowly approached the door eyes narrowed and opened it. Blankly staring as she saw nothing….until she looked down.

"Holy shit!" Was her immediate reaction to the shivering boy infront of her, it had started to snow probably an hour ago and his silver hair as well as his shirt and vest were covered in snow. Immediately she grabbed his arm pulling him inside. No time to question why a child so young was here. His fingers from what she saw were starting to gain a purplish hue as well as his lips. She immediately put him in front of the fireplace she rarely used anymore thankful she kept some firewood just in case and lit a fire.

Then she ran to her closet getting the thickest blanket she could find and wrapped him in it. The boy looking at her opened his mouth and tried to speak "a..aa..a" But he was shivering so badly it was almost like a seizure so Ur shushed him. "Let's try to warm you up a bit first then you can speak. Can you take off your clothes?"

The kid stared at him like she was crazy so she explained. "You can stay wrapped in your blanket and in your underwear but your clothes are wet from the snow that will make it harder for you to get warm."

He stared at her uncertainly, but with some difficulty started to get his vest and shirt off.

Ur pulled the kids boots off to help and the boy managed to get himself out of his pants before wrapping himself in the blanket, his already red cheeks a bit darker in hue. "Okay now stay near the fire and under the blanket i'll be right back." She explained and headed to the kitchen.

She was out of ingredients for hot cocoa ever since her daughter died she stopped making it and had switched to tea but she doubted the boy would like it very much so she got out some milk and began heating it up as well as some honey. Then wrapping it in a towel so he wouldnt burn himself on it she headed over and knelt by him. The boy looked at her still shivering like crazy but the bluish tinge seemed to be leaving his lips. "Here, drink this." Ur said handing him the milk, holding it out as he struggled to get his shivering hands around it and sipped it slowly feeling the warmth go throughout him and taking another sip.

She let him slowly drink it for a few minutes using another hand to rub the blanket hoping the friction would help warm the little body up. As someone that grew up in the north she knew it would be a bad idea to heat him up too fast. Her own body temperature was too cold to heat him up with body heat as well. After he managed to drink about half of the milk the boy said "Th..thank you…" Managing to speak without stuttering so much from shivering this time.

"Your welcome, now can I ask why the hell you were insane enough to come out here in the middle of the night without even a coat." Ur asked, her voice stern. This boy was only a few years older than her Tear had been before she had gotten sick and vanished forever from her life. What kind of parents would let their child run off into the mountains of all places?! But that was for her to yell at the parents, not the boy.

"O. r.r..right ar…re you Ur?" the boy asked his eyes wide in anticipation.

So the kid was looking for her? But why? "Yes I am" She said calmly.

The boy gave a wide smile surprising the female ice mage. He put down the cup and bowed his head down. "Please take me as your student!"

She stared down at the boy for several seconds stunned. What? "Wait, where are your parents?" Ur asked, trying to get a better grasp on the situation.

"Don't have any." The boy said looking up his gaze looked like one would say if you were to ask someone whether they were left or right handed or if they preferred coffee or tea, not something you would say to not having parents.

"Then who's been taking care of you?" She asked.

The boy blinked, tilting his head in confusion. "I've been taking care of myself." He said as if this were obvious.

Ur stared at the boy unsure of what to say to this response ... .okay start over Ur. "Why are you asking to be my student?"

"I want to be the best wizard!" He stated.

"And you think being my student will make that happen?" Ur asked.

"Yes I heard about you from some guild wizards so I came to find you!" The silver haired boy explained.

The nearest guild would take at least a day to get to by wagon and a lot longer by foot. This kid couldn't have easily come here after hearing about her especially if no one was looking after him. While orphaned children were not uncommon up north she could tell the boy had an accent of somewhere further south in the northern continent. The boy's clothes showed some wear and tear in certain places and the only other thing he had was a small bag he had with him that he had dropped while being led to the fireplace by Ur. If Ur sent this kid away he would have nothing to return to, but to teach someone magic again? The only other person she had taught was her daughter.

Her young daughter who's own magic killed her. This boy definitely had magic, she could tell from touch though not yet unleashed something that definitely could with the right teacher. It probably was also why he hadn't passed out in the cold and was so resilient, magic had a way of providing extra protection in matters of healing and protection against the elements even untrained. But did she want to teach her magic to him?

"Let me go get you something to wear" She said, to stall time and got up before he could protest and headed to the other room searching in her drawers for a tshirt, all of her daughter's stuff would be too small on Lyon. Finding a white t-shirt she closed her eyes thinking. She spent years alone since her daughter's death only taking occasional jobs for money and going to the town once a month for supplies.

She had been afraid to start making connections again, having her heart broken from loss. But she thought of the determined little boy who traveled so far to meet her and ask her to teach him magic. Who had no one else in the world and would need someone to teach him things, like not going up to strangers' houses in the middle of the night in a snowstorm. She didn't know how long she stood there with the shirt until she made her decision but when she came back the boy was still sitting there, the cup of milk now empty and his head kept nodding off before jerking upright again.

He must be exhausted with a smile she headed over and said. "Here put this on and we'll get you to bed."

"But…." the boy started to say before letting out a huge yawn.

Ur chuckled and put a hand on his head "I'll accept you as my apprentice but we aren't going to train in the middle of the night especially when your this exhausted."

"Really?" he said his eyed widening a smile appearing on his face, only to vanish as a big yawn escaped him.

"Really. Now come on shirt on unless you prefer to sleep in your boxers" Ur said.

The boy immediately reached for the shirt pulling it over his head and Ur held out a hand and led him to her room. During her time in her room she had decided to set up the futons and had him lie down on the one closest to the door, his eyes closing. "Oh that reminds me I never got your name." Ur said tucking the blanket around him.

The boy said his name in a quiet voice before falling asleep "My names Lyon, Lyon Vastia"
