An: canon divergence, I changed some of the details in the Mikaelson background, tell me what you think
After Bella was left in the room the brothers wanted her to stay in, she placed her duffel bag on the bed before heading into the bathroom. Showering away the blood and ash along with the grimness of the cell, Bella stepped back into the room to change into a white camisole crop top and a light grey high waisted soft cotton maxi skirt. She also slipped on a blue oversized knit cardigan that reached mid-thigh and would taper at the wrist it also had pockets. She placed her phone into her pocket and grabbed her journal so she could head downstairs not wanting to be in the room when she could be there for the explanations and getting at least the next two days set for the siblings before she reached the door of the room. A sharp pain in her head started just as her eyes began to glow her vision blurred in time with the pain and she caught a glimpse of a New Orleans sign then it switched to Damon and Enzo walking in with Sage and opening his mouth to say something, before she came back to the room and opened the door deciding to run to the library as she wanted to be in the room and sitting down before the brothers noticed she wasn't resting in the room.
She speeds through the second-floor library entrance and down the spiral staircase, leaning on the railing at the bottom she let a hiss escape through her teeth as the pain had doubled when she used of her speed. Sitting down in one of the armchairs Bella curled her legs underneath her and opened her journal and began writing down the vision from the cell and the two she had upstairs as she's writing she looks up as a chuckle from the doorway reaches her ears. Klaus walked over and took a seat across from her with his sketch book before speaking.
"Should have guessed you wouldn't rest upstairs, well be prepared for a show my siblings will no doubt come looking for me before any explanations can be given." Bella smirked at him before she continued to write down what she had seen. Twenty minutes passed before the sound of a female voice in Norse whined about Elijah's choice in partners was meet with three sighs. Bella pulled out her phone and pulled up Sages contact before sending a quick text knowing she would call for clarification and Bella didn't want to miss what was about to happen.
Katherine and Elijah walked through the doorway first and moved over to one of the two seaters and out of the way of the other three siblings and their path to Klaus. Who was standing by the chair with his sketch book in it having gotten up to order glasses and blood to be brought after hearing them awaken. Rebekah's blonde hair was not displaced even in her anger, and she made sure not to get anymore blood on her white nineteen twenties dress and she stabbed Klaus in the chest and moved to a chair in between Elijah and Klaus's chair, asking him how he could have done that to her. Finn was next to move forward simply stating that Klaus knew what the stab was for after he pulled the dagger back out and seemed to be disheveled after being daggered for so long. He moved over towards the three-seater near the door and stretched out his six-foot two frame across it, being the first to notice Bella was in the room and was studying her as she watched things play out. Bella could see that he had two curses targeting his mind before she could look further though Bella had her attention drawn back to Klaus who grunted twice, Seeing the six-foot one frame leaning over Klaus as it finally backed up to full height pulling the dagger with it. Bella noticed the male hand run his hands through his brown hair several times since being undaggered. He spoke in a heavy accent in his anger, "I see the whelp isn't present, so it seems he didn't make a good enough replacement after all is there anything else I need to know before I leave."
The giggle Bella let out at that statement drew attention to her from the others Elijah and Katherine having forgotten she was there and Rebekah just noticing her as Kol turned around and Meet Bella's gaze. Kol's brown eyes held rage that drained to irritation the longer he held her gaze, flashing over to her he forgot the rest of his siblings were present as he kneeled so he could meet her gaze evenly as he cradled her head between his hands. Bella could feel their bond that had been trying to form all those years ago weave around their souls and connecting them. Bella knew as time passed it would strengthen and it would be up to them whether it was platonic like it was forced to be in their first life or romantic without all the obstacles in the way.
"I like pretty little things with sharp tongues," Kol spoke in Norse as he smirked at Bella who quickly replied, "And I like giants who remember their manners." In Ancient Greek saying the same words spoken when Bemus had introduced them all those years ago. Kol's head tilted back as he released her face and moved to lounge in the chair next to hers. Bella could tell that he had noticed the black veins that were traveling across her skin but was waiting to ask about it later. Turning back to face Klaus Bella's head began to pound and she groaned as her eyes glowed once more just as her vision began to blur and she was watching blood crawl up a piece of paper in the shape of a tree to the names of the Mikaelson siblings then it switched to her seeing a hospital form and showing her the name Tom Avery underneath where the paramedic signs she was then on the streets of New Orleans standing by a car with three duffel bags in the trunk already and a forth being carried out by Kol before she was once again seeing the siblings sitting around the library. Kol looked very smug even with the irritation shining in his eyes, Finn still had sadness lingering in his emotions though he seemed to recognize who Bella was. Rebekah was in shock, and it only lingered as Bella's cell phone began to ring. Without looking at anyone Bella pulled it out of her pocket and answered already knowing who it was.
"Hello Sage," Bella huffed out a laugh as Sage responded, "Don't you hello me, I thought we went over what cold one venom does to a vampire three weeks ago when you were turned." Seeing the hope beginning to take over the sadness in Finn Bella hummed before speaking. "You did, I was helping Damon get his lover away from people experimenting on vampires, quick question does you know anyone that would have Mikaelson as a last name." Bella heard a groan from Sage who asked, "which one have you meet." With a mischievous smirk "Well presently I'm staring at all of them as the daggers were removed this afternoon since Mikael was killed this morning, the one that goes by Finn seems very pleased to hear your voice."
Sage gave a dry chuckle before speaking again this time in Norse, "I'll be there in the morning, it will help lighten the load on getting all three up to date on how things have changed." Sage then whispered too low for Bella to hear but had Finn nodding his head in agreement and his siblings cringing just before ending the call.
Bella slipped her phone into her pocket again before once more opening her journal to write down what she saw while saying. "You two might as well fill them in on what happened up to them being awakened then we can all discuss or argue which ever works best with your siblings on the next two days then we can focus on the coming full moon in a months' time." She received nods from Elijah and Klaus who looked at each other. Klaus was handing each of his siblings a glass of blood saving Kol for last so he could start off the explanations for the night still speaking in Norse.
"I owe you an apology brother, for my behavior in New Orleans the last two times you were awake, it's not an excuse but it does explain some of it the other parts we have come to realize involve the whelp as you put it." Kol nodded his head as that was the closest to, I'm sorry any of his siblings had given him over the years. "As I'm sure you know being around witches for the centuries you were awake that after a curse was lifted the person or object the curse was removed from should still be cleansed so that it can be sure no lingering malice magic is affecting them." At this Kol and Finn both shook their heads yes while Rebekah shook her head no, before Kol spoke.
"Yes, I would have told you to do it after breaking your too just in case there were any hidden surprises." Elijah sighed and pinched his nose at that statement confusing Rebekah who was about to defend her mother again, being the only one of the siblings with any remaining good opinion of their mother.
"Klaus and I were not informed of this until after being forced to run from Mikael when he showed up in New Orleans. None of the witches in our employ over the years Niklaus suffered under the hunter's curse mentioned needing to cleanse him not even the ones that confirmed that the curse had been broken." this caused both the brothers to groan before Kol said, "By then it would have been a few centuries to it would have taken at minimum to cleansings just to be on the safe side."
"It was also explained at the time that the reason my paranoia is so sever is because I 'm being blocked from my wolf and my brain knows the instincts that it supposed to listen to aren't there so it's feeding the only other instinct it can reach in those situations which just increases due to the fact that we feel even stronger than we did as humans."
Eljah took over as Klaus settled down to sketch, "So while we were unintentionally dealing with that, Finn had been daggered for two centuries to escape the spells on him from mother, Rebekah it has been proven by multiple witches even if they are unable to remove them, Katherine was brought to our attention by a pair of local vampires who wanted into our favor. Klaus was hopeful that he would get the chance to break his curse then, but she overheard a conversation and went to confront the two about what she overheard. The male in a jealous rage killed her for starting a relationship with me instead of him. Neither he nor his friend remembered until they heard us heading their way, in which case up until a few months ago they were running from Klaus's anger. She knew what we were and was allowing me to feed on her, as we are prone to do with our partners and had given her my blood so not to be suspended from the town. After her turning she joined us on plotting a new way to find the next doppelganger and to see if any other plots were heading our family's way it's worked over the years, and she's convinced several witches that she was on the run from our family. While we were in New Orleans, she came back to our hometown to see what had changed and meet an interesting pair of brothers. They are in fact Bella's uncles, the younger of the two has a penchant for manipulating the stories after wards to make himself seem like the good guy and he takes after his abusive father in a lot of his views though he tends to hide what he really thinks if he realizes his opinion is not shared by the person he's trying to impress. Bella can give you more of their story and I'm sure Klaus's and Rebekah's interactions with him in the twenties are very telling in their differences." Elijah was watching his sister as he spoke before Klaus took over again.
"When we landed in New Orleans, I had convinced myself that we hid better in larger cites and set about building the city up to hide us for as long as we could from Mikael. Because of the decades it took without hearing any news about him, I began to think that the city would protect us as we had given them a safe place to live. Due to the increased use of dark magic being used around and on me on occasion due to trying to stop a war from breaking out between the human, witch and werewolf factions that had begun to develop as others arrived to expand the city, my paranoia switched from only Mikael being the enemy to everyone around me, and it flipped like a coin due to me never being cleansed of the curse, so the magic was latching on to any negative emotion and not just the paranoia as the time passed without a cleansing."
"Throughout the years in New Orleans Rebekah once told you that I was moody and it turns out of all the people present that noticed something was off was the whelp, if only because he had to notice to originally survive his own father's moods. It turns out saving him did not in fact eliminate the learned behaviors he hid in his fear of his father and instead of letting others know that something was off with my moods flipping in such a way he used it to his advantage. When he was younger, he used it to get his way and even to get out of trouble, I believe Kol he was the one to tell you that he was your replacement and then at the sight of your rage tried to deny what was said. When you retaliated the way you did, I was having an episode about Mikael finding us due to whispers being spoken that he was heading our way again. Elijah at the time had not known all that Marcellus was getting away with and doing, and only saw you taking your anger out on a child." Kol nodded his head though Bella could still see the anger and hurt in his emotions as Klaus continued.
"Rebekah at that time spent the majority of out of the house and away from where Marcellus was being raised by me. When he was a young adult, he had still only seen my public interaction with my siblings as if his interaction with Kol were anything to go by, he could not be brought into the family no matter how I saw him at the time. At some point in time, he decided that he wanted to be turned and since I and Elijah had both refused him that he was going to turn so he set out to convince Rebekah and after spending a few days in her presence figured out the best way to go about it was to seduce her." Bella could see the anger in Rebekah aura not liking her dreams of having a lover being used against her.
"When it was discovered, Rebekah still believed him and was daggered to cool off for us to figure out how to handle the situation. My anger combined with the urge to protect Rebekah from him had me acting in anger and I told him if he really loved her, he would be fine with living out his days as a human and not pursue the need to turn any longer. He replied that if we just turned him like he wanted he would leave her alone and not pursue her any longer. Let it be known we did not in fact believe him, but we did turn him figuring if the rumors of our father were true then we could use him since he was using us. You were of course awakened again after a few years, and we once again had not seen or heard of Mikael finding us. In private we filled Rebekah in on his actions and it proved a good thing we did because he began trying to get back into her good graces a decade later."
"She was having fun giving him the run around as the witches started to have problems again and we undaggered you again hoping to figure out what was going on. Only the witches tried to drag the two of us into a war and then Marcel decided he wanted the city for himself and figured he had Rebekah in love with him enough that she would choose him over her siblings. He is under the impression that we think he's dead and do not know he's taken over New Orleans. Once we fled the city Rebekah headed off on her own to check on a few friends she had made over the years and Elijah, and I ran into a warlock that said he had been given a warning from an oracle to make sure we had been cleansed from curses. When we asked him what he meant, well we got a lecture that was reminiscent of one Kol would give on magic. His descendant is still in my employ, and You will be meeting Maddox over the next few days. Other than a run in with a ripper who tried to get into Rebekah's good graces in the twenties enough that she also tried not to run from father showing up and being daggered again. Until a month ago we were relying on the plan with Katherine to find the next doppelganger to break my curse." It was now Elijah's turn to take over the story.
"From the time that Klaus and Rebekah met up in Chicago I was off convincing everyone that we had a falling out and that I now wanted to kill him. I was also meeting up with Katerina or Katherine as she changed her name to who filled me in on the two brothers that had been turned with her blood in her system. The older of the two had become a brother to her and she was checking on him periodically and found it highly amusing that he caught Sages attention shortly after he was turned and was taken under her wings as a younger brother as well especially when his preference for males became known by them." Bella giggled about her uncle's adopted older sisters before listening once more.
"When she wasn't checking in on the older, she was trying to mitigate the damage the ripper, the younger one became even being the one to direct the one to get him on animal blood his way. A few years ago, one of Katherines descendants got in contact with her about protecting her daughter from Klaus. We arranged our plans to come here still pretending that we were in a fight and that Katherine was still running and trying to get in his good graces so that all the people need for the ritual and the stone would be in town on the full moon when Klaus would decide to preform it. That is until a month ago Katherine mentioned her adopted little brother being the uncle to someone with a peculiar gift."
Bella smirked at him before taking over next, "It's not my fault, that the witches you picked to help were stupid enough to try and double cross the two of you. If she didn't want, you to find out then she should have done research to who was living in the house like you to did once you recognized me for what I was." Looking at the other siblings Bella took over her side of the story. "I had several visions over the last few weeks involving what was going on in town and few pertaining to the witches that were supposed to be working for your siblings. When I informed Elijah of the visions, I had he brought me to Klaus, and I got to watch the witch have a break down and out herself about searching for Mikael who had not been seen or heard from in about a decade and witches had tried to find him but couldn't. After informing Klaus of the secondary curse on him and the moonstone tied to the ritual, I helped find Mikael and whatever white oak was left around that could hurt you all."
"This morning while they handled Mikael, I was taken by psychos who wanted to experiment on vampires some more and wanted a female test subject and they had gotten their hands on venom. The male test subject ended up being my uncle's lover and the group of psychos turned out to be people that he had been captured and handed over to in the fifties. He thought they had killed them all but turns out not so this summer he might be spending it tracking down the rest of their sites to make sure the group doesn't come back this time. So, on top of wanting to keep an eye on me with cold one venom running through my veins, I am here to help with the planning and to connect with Kol."
Bella sat back further in her chair as she watched them process what had been said and exactly who was coming over in the morning to help them get used to this century. Bella then began to drift off an hour later as the younger siblings fought to tell their sides of other stories over the years to their oldest brother when he would ask a question. Bella felt a kiss on her forehead after she was laid down in bed by Kol who had carried her up stairs and heard him whisper that they would talk later. Bella's visions that night began with Damon's car with the top-down sitting in the driveway next to another car. Bella and Kol were getting into the back while Enzo chanted road trip at Rebekah and Mason who were heading to the other vehicle with Klaus talking to Damon in between the two. Then it changed to Esther standing in a cave and thanking Stefan and saying she couldn't wait to meet Elena before knocking him out along with Bonnie and her mom who were already passed out at her feet.
In the morning Bella changed into a black pair of leggings that had mesh paneling on the sides of the leg with swords embordered in the middle of the mesh panels. She also wore a black camisole and slipped on the same sweater from the night before as she was braiding her hair into a side fishtail braid, Kol walked in. Bella could tell he had raided both his brothers' wardrobes as he was wearing one of Elijahs navy-blue button-down shirts with the top three buttons and the bottom button undone along with a pair of dark jeans he no doubt got from Klaus along with the boots he wore. Bella slid her journal into her satchel with her phone and made sure to have the charger for her laptop. She also grabbed the two grimoires from her duffel and moved them to her satchel as well.
Kol moved quickly seeing that she had her things and scooped her up into his arms before placing her down on the two-seater couch and pulling her against him as they waited for the others to get ready to go shopping when Sage, Damon and Enzo arrived. Pulling out her journal Bella wrote down the two visions she had that night as Finn wondered in with a nod of his head in greeting, Bella could see he was anxious for Sage to arrive as he sat down. Before he could start up a conversation Bella heard the front door open and couldn't stop the grin that came across her face as she watched Finn. Hearing Damon shout, "Honey I'm home." To get everyone's attention caused her to giggle even harder at the sounds of two slaps hitting him, most likely on the head and shoulder from the two with him. The three appeared in the library doorway Sage and Finn meeting in the middle of the walkway greeting each other with a kiss and whispering to each other and Damon walked over to Kol and Bella with Enzo in tow.
Bella introduced the three males to each other and after sizing up the male with his arm wrapped around who Enzo had fun calling his savior, and Damon's niece. Kol takes in one of the members of Bella's family in this life, before deciding they liked what they found. Bella could see them becoming great friends in the future, just as the others wandered in and Elijah took charge of going shopping. Bella spoke up so they could figure out how to handle the next day as well.
"If you guys spend today buying all the clothes and getting their hair cuts along with any electronics they might need or want. Tomorrow, while Sage helps Finn and you too handle getting your sister up to date and finding out what's going on with the group in town. Damon and Enzo can take me, since I won't be completely better yet, and Kol to get the things he needs from New Orleans with out alerting any one we were there." Bella watched as all the siblings seemed to meet each other's eyes before one by one they nodded their heads even though there was some grumbling about not being treated like a kid by Rebekah. Bella received a kiss on the cheek from Kol as he jumped up and they all headed to the door leaving Bella to spend the day among the books of the library reading to her hearts content and not having to go shopping, which to her was the only good thing that came out of having cold one venom in her body at present.
