Getting to know him

I pulled into my parking spot as a blacked-out SUV pulled in two spots down and two men in suits hurriedly got out. One man was tall and had muscles showing through the suit! He must be some majorly built guy to be able to do that. The other man was tall and slim with shaggy blonde hair. I made eye contact with Blondie, who motioned for the muscle man to look my way.

"One is my brother and the other guy is my cousin" A voice called from inside the SUV.

My head snapped in his direction and I noticed he was peering out the side window.

"Figures!" I was annoyed that all three of the men appeared to be calm. I turned off my truck and dug my keys out of my purse along with my cell phone. I flipped my cell open and tried to turn it on but unfortunately it was dead. Great, now I had no way of letting Alice know what was up. I got out of my truck and went around to the passenger side. I stuffed the 9mm in my pants at my lower back. He wasn't getting it back seeing how Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb were packing too. I opened the door and he cocked his eyebrow at me.

"So I take it I can't have my gun back yet," he said and a crooked smirk graced his perfect lips.

"No, seeing how your buddies have more than one for themselves over there."

He looked shocked for a moment, and then his face returned to the calming gaze he had set in. "How can you tell from this far away?"

"I just know. The suits are a little too tight, if you ask me."

I motioned for the two dummies to come help me get him upstairs even though it was only his shoulder that was wounded. I wasn't sure if there was an exit wound and just how much blood he had lost before I found him.

"Boss, what the hell? I thought you were right next to us! Next thing I know I'm getting a call from the pretty lady here to come get you."

"Later, Emmett. Call Pops and let him know we are done. Oh, and tell him to meet you at the diner not far from here and bring Sammy and Seth with him so they can clean up."

"Jasper, help me up to her apartment. My head is spinning and the pretty lady here has a nurse friend."

"We've got about four flights to my apartment so just don't drop him on the way."

"Yes ma'am," he said in a southern twang. I rolled my eyes and headed into the building. Four flights later and a lot of cursing behind me we had made it to my door.

"Let me go in first. Alice may be in bed and she will freak out if she sees you all first."

They just nodded their heads as I unlocked my door. I left it open while I put my purse on the end table. I made my way into the living room and saw Alice sprawled out on the couch with her laptop lying on the floor open with what looked like her latest project. I went over to her and nudged her leg. There was no way I was getting in her face again. I didn't need another black eye. She finally started to move and I told her to get up because I needed her

"Alice, I need you to go get your medical bag and come back in here."

"What did you do now? It's 3:15 in the morning?" Her eyes were barely open and her voice was hoarse from sleep.

"I didn't do anything. I found someone that needed help and his cousin brought him up here. So hurry up because he has already lost enough blood."

At the word blood, she jumped up and ran to her bedroom as I made my way back to the door. I motioned the boys in and told them to sit in the kitchen which had better light. I headed to Alice's room.

"Alice, where are you, and what is this mess?"

"The closet. I was rearranging it today. I just never put those in a bag to get rid of. I have my medical bag. Are you going to tell me what's going on?"

"I found a guy in the alley behind the diner and he was shot in the shoulder. I can't tell if it has an exit wound or not but he was bleeding. By the time I made it in and called his cousin, our regular detectives were gone to some shooting and I figured I would have you look at him."

"Why didn't you call the cops or EMS, Bella"

"Well, he asked me not to, and dammit just go look for yourself and tell me why I didn't."

We made our way back to the kitchen where Adonis had stripped his shirt off with the help of his cousin Jasper and oh my god was this man perfect everywhere.

Alice's jaw dropped and she looked at me and cocked her eyebrow mouthing, "Oh my god!" to me.

I just winked and went on into the room.

" Alice, this is Jasper and his boss…."

"Anthony"

"Anthony seems to fit I guess. So, this is Jasper's boss Anthony." I caught Jasper's sudden look at Anthony. Anthony just did a quick shake of his head,"No."

"So, Bella tells me you were shot. Let me take a look at it."

She did a thorough search looking for an exit wound and looked over him for any other wounds. "Well, I hate to break it to you but you're going to have to have it removed by a doctor at the hospital."

"No need 'cause you are going to do it for me, shorty. Please? I don't do hospitals or my cousin here is going to have the fun of taking it out."

"I don't have the numbing medicine or anything to give you for the pain. It's going to take a few minutes to get it out and we can't have you screaming in agony."

" I can take it. Please?"

"Fine. Jasper is it? I need your belt and I need you to run around the corner to the liquor store and grab their strongest whiskey. A fifth should do it."

Jasper just stared at her for what seemed like forever because she was bossing him around.

"Jasper, snap outta it and do it! Hurry up this shit hurts!" Anthony's voice sent shivers through me when it was demanding.

"Alright, boss, I need your card. I'm not paying for it this time."

"Fine, just go."

"Alright since he left now you can tell me your real name 'cause it isn't Anthony." My voice was serious.

"Anthony. It just happens to be my middle name. What's your real name?" I guess with everything going on he missed when Alice had said it.

"Wouldn't you like to know?" I smirked and turned on my heels and headed towards my room.
