Jessica's Point of View
"Mom? I don't- I don't understand." I said, though it became clearer by the second.
"I am your mother, Jessica. You are my daughter," The woman smiled.
"No. I- this isn't right. I'm not-" I stuttered. I didn't know how to handle the fact that I was in my mother's presence. "I don't want a mother."
"You don't know that," Lexaeus replied.
"Aeleus, this must be a very large shock to her. I know you tend to use actions over words, but suddenly springing this on her isn't ideal. Perhaps you should take her home for now and bring her back when she's ready," My mother suggested.
"I suppose you're right. I'll bring her back soon," Lexaeus promised. He picked me back up and left the house before leaving in a dark corridor. "I suppose I was wrong. I thought you were ready. Then again, you may never be ready."
"She's a complication I don't want. A liability. Life is better with less people I care about," I muttered.
"You don't mean what you're saying. You're only saying it because you're young and confused. Everything is sudden to you at the moment."
"I do mean it. I don't want to have a mother."
Lexaeus said nothing in response.
