Jessica's Point of View
I wasn't able to see my mother again for several weeks as my free time was taken up by learning how to open dark corridors at Xemnas's insistence, though I didn't know why because they wouldn't let me go anywhere by myself. The day after I got the hang of opening dark corridors, Daddy approached me.
"I hear you are able to create dark corridors, now," Daddy commented.
"Yeah, though I don't like to do it," I replied.
"Well, since that's out of the way, let's visit your mother," Daddy prompted.
I didn't want to, but Daddy had already opened a dark corridor.
"Come, child," Daddy urged.
I took Daddy's hand and followed him into the dark corridor. We were in front of my mother's house when we exited. Daddy rang the doorbell, and Mama answered. "Oh my!
Come inside. Quickly," My mother demanded. We followed her inside, and the moment after she shut the door, she threw her arms around Daddy. "I haven't seen you since..."
Daddy embraced my mother. "It has been a long time. I've had some clarity over the past few months. Life is too short for Jessica to wait to see you. I couldn't put this off any longer."
My mother moved from Daddy to me, though she was much more hesitant. "Hello, Jessica. I'm happy you came to visit me."
I was overwhelmed and took a step toward my father. My mother noticed this and changed tactics. "I have some cookies if you would like. I just baked them yesterday, and I can't eat them all by myself."
"Cookies?" I echoed, perking up.
"Jessica, you'll spoil your dinner," Daddy stated. I deflated.
"Oh, nonsense. A little cookie wouldn't ruin anyone's dinner," My mother denied.
"Please, Daddy?" I added.
"Jessica, no," Daddy insisted.
"Then... will you at least stay for dinner?" My mother requested.
Daddy's resolve seemed to soften. "We can do that."
"Let's get takeout," My mother suggested.
"Please tell me you don't make that a habit. It's not good to get takeout all the time, you know," Daddy remarked.
"You don't have to worry about me. I can take care of myself," My mother assured Daddy.
"That doesn't answer my question," Daddy sighed.
My mother smirked. "I missed you, too. Remember where I keep the takeout menus? It's still the same place. Could you go get them for me?"
Daddy raised an eyebrow but went down the hall without a word.
"Come on," My mother whispered, taking my hand. She led me to the kitchen and handed me a chocolate chip cookie, which I ate happily. "Don't tell your father."
"I won't," I assured her with a mouth full of cookie.
Daddy came back before I could finish. "Are you sure you haven't moved anything? I couldn't find- I thought I said not to give her a cookie until after dinner." I swallowed what I had left of my cookie and stopped eating, preparing to get a scolding. Instead, Daddy shook his head and smiled. "I suppose I can overlook one small treat. Did you at least thank your mother?"
I turned to my mother. "Thank you, Mommy," I said.
"Oh, you are so very welcome. Do you want another?" Mommy said, reaching into the cookie jar and pulling out another cookie.
Daddy snatched the cookie from Mommy and took a bite. "I said no. Must you try to undermine everything I say?"
Mommy giggled. "Only when you put up unreasonable rules."
Daddy only grunted in response. He seemed different around Mommy. He was less irritated and huffy. I decided I liked it when Mommy and Daddy were together.
Guest: I made this chapter just for you.
1/21/2023: This chapter has been edited. It starts out pretty much the same, but I rewrote what happens once she's at her mother's house.
