Jessica's Point of View

Near the end of the day, the princesses were busy getting ready for bed. As usual, it caused a lot of commotion. Arista put on a sleeping mask and started to try to sleep. "Uh, is that my mask?" Aquata asked her.

"Nope," Arista replied.

Aquata snatched that mask off of Arista's face. "It's got my initial on it," Aquata pointed out.

"It does?" Arista asked.

"All of our names except for Jessica's start with A, Aquata," Attina huffed while she brushed her hair. The other girls held up their belongings with the letter A engraved on them to emphasize Attina's point.

Aquata started grabbing other things that she accused Arista of taking, which led to a fight between them until Adella spoke up. "Shush! He's coming."

King Triton entered the room. "Good evening, girls."

"Father," The princesses greeted.

"Sleep well," King Triton said.

"Good night, father," The princesses chimed.

"Ariel?" King Triton prodded.

I turned to Ariel, who I realized was still sitting at the window. "Good night," Ariel sighed.

"Good night," King Triton repeated before he left.

"Why did you do that? He's our father," Adella told Ariel before she got into bed. Ariel didn't move from the window. "Sit there as long as you want, Ariel. Nothing's going to change.

The princesses went to bed, but I stayed awake. "Ariel, are you okay?" I wondered, swimming toward the window to sit with Ariel. I took a seat across from her.s

"I'm so tired of never doing anything different with my father. Every day has been the same with him for as long as I can remember," Ariel grumbled.

"I know. Just some friendly advice, you don't want to leave things off like this. Before coming here, I had a huge fight with my uncle. I often struggle with where I left things with him," I explained.

"Is that why you're so sad all the time?" Ariel asked.

That was the moment I realized that I was moping around and miserable most of the time. I made a mental note to smile more around the others. "Yeah, I suppose it is."

"I'll think about what you said," Ariel decided.

"I hope you do. Goodnight, Ariel," I smiled before getting into bed.

"Good night," Ariel mumbled.
