Jessica's Point of View
That night, there was some confusion. "Girls, where is Ariel?" Andrina questioned, interrupting my sleep. No one seemed to know.
"Should we tell?" Arista wondered.
"Only if she's not here by morning," Attina decided. We went back to sleep.
That morning, I was woken up by Aquata. I was confused because it was usually Marina who woke us up. "Hm? What is it?" I mumbled. Aquata shushed me and pointed to Ariel, who was surrounded by the rest of her sisters. It took me a few seconds to realize why. Ariel was humming in her sleep. We swam over to the others.
Ariel opened her eyes. "What?" She asked. No one responded. "What?"
"Uh, you were humming," Attina answered.
"I was?" Ariel smiled.
"Out loud," Arista added.
"Don't worry. It was just a dream," Ariel replied.
"I'll tell you what wasn't a dream. We woke up at midnight," Alana started.
"And your bed was still empty," Aquata finished.
"Really?" Ariel questioned.
"Yeah. That is two hours past curfew," Andrina pointed out.
"Oh," Ariel sighed.
"Ooh, was it a boy?" Andrina smirked.
"Oh, if it's a boy, I'm gonna die!" Adella exclaimed.
"Drama," Aquata grumbled.
"I mean, I'm happy for you, Ariel. It's just that I'm two years older than you, and the only one I've come close to kissing is Stevie," Adella groaned.
"Ew. Squid-Lips Stevie?" Andrina joked.
"It was on a dare," Adella explained.
"Whatever," Andrina mumbled.
"Girls, let's stick to the subject," Attina interrupted. Everyone's attention went back to Ariel.
"Well, it wasn't a boy, okay?" Ariel replied, swimming over to the window. "I was just helping a friend a friend. Out past the kelp forest."
"Ooh! Past the kelp forest. It wasn't a boy. It was a bad boy," Aquata teased.
"Oh, Ariel," Arista gasped.
"Simmer down there, sister," Aquata said.
"So, you were just helping a friend?" Attina questioned.
"Yep," Ariel answered.
"Then, where'd you get this?" Attina asked as she pulled a maraca from behind her back. The other princesses gasped. Ariel took the maraca and put it under her pillow. "Can you imagine what'd happen if Dad found it?"
"He's never here," Ariel pointed out.
"Don't get cute with me. This is serious. Where were you?" Attina huffed. All eyes were on Ariel, desperately waiting for her answer.
"I was just listening to music in an underground club," Ariel blurted out.
"Okay, where were you really?" Attina scoffed. The others and I almost immediately believed her and gasped as we gathered around her.
"What was it like?" Arista wondered.
"Come on. Spill it," Andrina urged.
Ariel laughed. "Oh, it was amazing." She took Arista's hands and spun around the room with her. "The energy, the dancing, the music." Ariel let go of Arista. "Just makes you feel like..."
"Like what?" Aquata pressed.
"Like when Mom was here," Ariel replied.
"Ariel, I wanna hear it, too," Arista said.
"You do?" Ariel smiled.
Myself and the others except for Attina chimed in our agreement. "Everybody does! Please, Ariel. Please?" Arista pleaded.
"Well..." Ariel pondered it over. "We'll go tonight."
"I'm so excited!" Arista squealed.
"Music!" Aquata exclaimed.
"What should I wear?" Alana asked.
"So, you think there'll be boys?" Adella smirked.
"One way to find out," Andrina added.
"This is not happening! You go again and I..." Attina couldn't think of anything else to say.
"Lighten up," Andrina suggested.
"Come on," Ariel tried. The others tried to make puppy dog eyes at her.
"Okay," Attina sighed. We all started cheering.
Marina entered the room. "Come on, girls. Uppy-up," She stopped when she saw us and was silent as we swam past her. We prepared for a normal day with a new and exciting night.
