I'd love to hear some feedback, I'm also heavily editing these before I post any chapters. I did replace the first chapter after editing it.
Disclaimer: I do not own anything from Seven Deadly Sins, not that I wouldn't love to have the rights to have Ban... but yeah... It's Ban.
I own Hecate, her ability and any other characters not part of the anime. I also own the scenes not part of the original story and any additions to original scenes that are not there.
Rated M for suggestive themes, strong language and potential explicit scenes later one.
It was quite simple to travel to the prison, and much to Hecate's disappointed about was that she didn't come by any trouble. It dampened her spirits a little since she was expecting knights to approach her or at least attempt to stop her from reaching the prison. Maybe they didn't see her as a threat since she was still considered to be an 'apprentice' knight instead of a full-fledged one. She did bristle a bit at that, but it allowed her to move about without drawing too much attention to herself. From the corner of her eye, she did spot something fly by. Something small, like a beetle, causing the halfling to frown. She paused in her walk and turned a little, only to blanch when she saw a flood of beetles of different shapes, size, and type of beetle imaginable. All of them were headed towards the village, causing Hecate to frown. She didn't like the look of that onslaught of bugs, remembering Diane's hatred for them.
As much as she was tempted to go back to help eradicate the bugs, she was close to the prison. She looked between the two, but knew Diane could handle herself, and protect everyone. Hecate turned back towards the prison and started walking again, she had faith in her friend, knowing she could handle whatever came her way. Hecate also knew she could push back her hatred of bugs to act, at least, she hoped so.
The closer Hecate got to the prison, the more like a mushroom it became. She wondered why they chose to make it like that, and why they had to make it so large. The building consisted of three large, round buildings of various sizes. It towered over the halfling, reminding her of the Giant Tree in the Fairy Realm. It was enormous, while also meant it was going to take a lot of time to get through the buildings to find out where they were holding Ban.
"Unless that bastard got himself out and is now wandering the halls, which wouldn't surprise me at all…" Hecate sighed a little and ran a hand through her hair.
It took Hecate a couple moments to find a staircase inside, it was off to the side and out of the way, much to her annoyance. But once she was finally inside, she immediately noticed that it was dimly lit. Sconces lit the walls sparsely, for anyone relatively normal, it would have made it harder to navigate through the buildings, but Hecate liked the light. Her eyesight appreciated the dim light and it helped her see further and clearer. The halls were silent, except for the flickering flames, she could not hear any movement of knights or chatter of anyone nearby waiting to ambush her. There was nothing… which was slightly unnerving.
Walking deeper into the prison, Hecate found herself pausing when she still could not hear or see anyone else. It was strange and she wondered if they were deceived by Gilthunder… maybe he gave them false information to lead them into a trap? While she couldn't see him really doing that, she knew Meliodas trusted the other man's words and because she trusted her captain… she was there, inside the virtually empty prison.
Deciding to try another trick to try and find her way around, Hecate stopped walking in a crossroad of passages and closed her eyes, relaxing. Inhaling deeply, Hecate began the task of sorting through the different scents she took in. She picked through them carefully, searching for the scent of Ban's unique, sweet blood. It was not sweet like honey or sickly sweet like a flower, but it was sweet with vitality. It was rich with life in its purest form, and one scent that she could never forget. It was also hard for her to describe what it smelt like, but she often likened it to melted chocolate.
Another inhale brought a tickling sensation running up her nose and in reflex, she sneezed several times, the sounds echoing through the halls of the prison as she shook her head with a whine. That had not been pleasant. Rubbing her nose, Hecate tried again and inhaled. This time, dust didn't creep into her nose and she was able to sort through the scents again. This time, a unique scent drifted into her nose, and she smiled.
Finally!
It wasn't hard to lock onto Ban's scent once she found it and began following it deeper into the prison. The deeper she went, the more Hecate found herself believing that the prison was impractical. There were hallways everywhere, some leading to room, others leading to what seemed to be nowhere. Another thing that was beginning to bother her was the fact that there were no guards or knights around. Everywhere she went, she was greeted by darkness and firelight. She seemed to be alone in the prison and Ban's scent seemed to lead her away from the man, because she had yet to bump into him. She got to the point where she had to stop walking because the scent trail began crossing itself, muddling up the path that he took. She knew where he went, his scent was going off into different directions, but always returned to the spot where she stopped. It was irritating though, she had no way of finding him now that the scents were mixed up, she couldn't tell older scents apart from newer scents, which meant he could be anywhere by this point.
"What in the hell were they thinking when they built this place?" Hecate scowled, opening her eyes in irritation. "Did they really think a place like this could stop a Sin from getting out or get in?" she huffed a little and shook her head. "And that fucking, immortal bastard is moving around too much for me to actually get a proper scent from on him… what the hell is he thinking?"
She couldn't find him now by scent alone, but it was always the best way Hecate could find someone. Every had a unique scent to them, and everyone's blood had an even more unique trait that she could focus on. But because Ban's scent and blood were the same, it made it more difficult to find him when he walked around in circles like this.
Hell, he could even be nearby, but she couldn't tell with how much he moved around.
"Damn immortal idiot…" Hecate muttered, kicking a random pebble on the ground as she tried finding picking up Ban's trail again.
"Anyone I might know?" a teasing voice purred from behind, the familiar drawl coming from next to her hear.
In a motion that was purely out of instinct, with the addition to a surprised yelp escaping her, Hecate twisted around and plunged her hand through the stomach of the person behind her. She hated it when people snuck up behind her! She always acted first and asked questions later because she never knew if that person was going to attack her or not. Her heart hammered between her ears; her mind solely focused on self-preservation. The feeling of her hand pushing through the tanned flesh and muscle was something Hecate was unfortunately used to. She blindly stared at the bare chest, not registering what she had done until something wet splashed onto her cheek, causing her to blink several times.
A moment later her tongue slipped between her lips and lapped up the blood that stained her pale skin. The moment she tasted it, her eyes widen as a familiar sensation hummed through her, reenergizing her immediately. An amused laugh echoed around them, and Hecate looked up, her light pink eyes locking into amused, gleeful, scarlet-coloured irises. A crooked, fanged smile greeted her with blood dripping from the edges of his mouth. Spiky light blue hair covered his head with a couple pieces falling in front of his face. A single scar marred his body, from the left side of his jaw going down his neck his. He stood a head taller than her, and it was obvious that he was fit. He was lean and muscular, his strength not actually apparent until he decided to show off. As she looked him over further, she noticed the startling pink pants he wore with some green ear the end of his bare feet. They were tight and sat low on his hips.
To be honest, this was not how she expected to meet up with him. Having her hand shoved through his stomach… again.
"You still like getting inside of me, don't you, Kitten?" He teased her easily; a lazy, perverted grin greeted her when she met his eyes again with a roll of her eyes. "When will be my time to get inside of you?" The purr was still dominant in his voice, the suggestive nature of his words not lost on the woman.
"You'd be lucky to get a chance with the way you keep sneaking up on me." She replied dryly while yanking her hand out of his stomach. She watched in morbid fascination as his body repaired itself, leaving smooth, undamaged skin in its wake. The blood around her arm was absorbed into there bangles, storing it for another time.
Her response caused the man to laugh, and his grin suddenly turned wicked. "Promise?" he asked suggestively, winking at her playfuly.
Hecate lost it at that and began laughing, unable to help herself. God, she missed this man. He was ridiculous at times, but she has missed him. "You're horrible." She teased, lightly swatting his chest, causing him to chuckle.
"You love it." he shot back, and she snorted with a smile.
"Yeah, yeah. Keep believing that." She stuck her tongue out at him playfully, and he laughed again.
Hecate couldn't help but smile as she took a couple steps back, resting her hands upon her hips and just took him in. He was looking good considering what she heard about him, which was not much if she was being honest. But here he was, clean shaven, his same lackadaisical attitude unchanged, and even more, he looked a lot happier than she originally expected. The fact that they slipped back into their familiar, playful banter so easily helped Hecate relax more. It told her that he really hadn't changed at all during the past ten years, and that was reassuring.
Before she could move, Ban pulled her into his arms, pressing her firmly against his warm body. Hecate didn't hesitate in wrapping her arms around his neck, burying her face into his shoulder, relaxing when she felt his head rest upon her own. A moment later, her feet left the ground and squeal escaped her as she wrapped her legs around his waist, flicking his ear in slight annoyance that he would do that to her, causing him to laugh at her. But it did allow them to relax in proximity with each other after a long separation. Hecate relaxed against him, a soft smile gracing her face as she closed her eyes, just taking that moment to take in his warmth. They couldn't stay there for long; they did have to meet up with the Captain and the others after all.
Ban sighed slowly as he held Hecate in his arms. He never realized how much he missed the woman in his arms, not until he spotted her familiar dark blue hair swaying around her gracefully. He stopped walking and just watched her, taking everything in. She hadn't changed at all in ten years. Sure, her hair was a little longer, but she was still same woman. He watched as she stopped and inhaled deeply, realizing that she had been following his scent, but from the way her face pinched in irritation, he must have crossed his scent path a few times. He couldn't help but smirk though, he knew how much it bothered her when people crossed their scent paths more than once and considering he had been wandering around for a while now, he probably crossed that spot several times. The fact that she sought him out by scent stroked his ego a little. It felt good to know that she preferred that method of finding him instead of just searching for him.
He decided to make it easier for her to find him, he managed to sneak up behind her, not an easy feat, and replied to her question. Her reaction though had been amusing, watching her long hair fly around her as she turned around and her light pink eyes flashing fuchsia for a moment before she just stopped and took him in. Even with her hand stuck through him, her face was still so expressive. He was sure Hecate didn't even realize she was blushing as they spoke, it was a colour that matched her eyes perfectly. But as they held each other now, Ban couldn't even remember why he left her after that night at the tavern. He did feel bad about it, leaving her all alone to while he went off without a word or reason. But he had something he needed to do, and he couldn't find a way to explain to her what he had planned. He did try to find her afterwards, but it was as if she had fallen off the face of the earth. No one had seen her in the towns he visited before he heard those rumours about the Captain being dead and turned himself in.
"Now, that's more like it…" Ban murmured, sighing softly when he felt her relax against him. He buried his head into her hair, relishing in the familiar silkiness. "You're looking good, Kitten." He told her, nuzzling his face against her head, and much to his amusement, a small purr erupted from her quietly. And if that didn't stroke his ego more, he didn't know what would.
"And you seem to have kept busy through the years." Hecate replied softly, her arms still resting around his neck, her head lightly resting against his shoulder, fully relaxed. She couldn't help but take the man in, in that moment. Thinking back to the last decade, her heart still clenched at the thought of the night he left her, when he left without a single word. "We should find the others though, no doubt they've come looking for us." She sighed a little and shifted a bit, lifting her head up to look at him properly.
"Can't they wait?" Ban whined, pouting at her suggesting and tightened his grip around her. He didn't want to go to the others yet. Time like this with Hecate was rare as it was, he wanted to be selfish with her. But he knew it wasn't possible, the woman was more stubborn than anyone he had met before, and he knew she would make him go if he pushed her. "Fine…" he sighed heavily, seeing the stubborn look in her eyes. He slowly released his grip around her, allowing her to drop back onto the ground.
Laughing softly, Hecate lightly patted the man's cheek. "How about this, if I feel like it, I might allow you to room with me." She teased him lightly, watching as his red eyes brighten at the prospect.
"Deal." He told her simply with a grin and the two shared a laugh as they started down the hall.
The two caught up on the past ten years, Ban decided to go first, telling her all about this time in prison, especially. He told her, in descriptive detail, about the torture the guards tried inflicting on him, how they starved him of food and water, trying to find ways to kill him. The way he spoke about it caused Hecate to laugh, but what really got to her was when he told her about freaking countless guards by humming, despite not being able to speak.
"I bet you anything that those guards shit themselves when I kicked that door down!" he howled with a wicked grin, much to Hecate's amusement. "Man, and here I thought this place would have been more amusing than it turned out… I actually fell asleep a few times during their 'torture' sessions." He complained, yawning mockingly as he watched the woman next to him, her shoulders were still shaking in laughter that she hid behind her sleeve.
"God, you're horrible!" Hecate laughed, shaking her head in disbelief at the grinning man.
"Yeah, I know." He grinned back with a shrug before nudging her slightly. "What about you? What's kept you busy all these years?" he asked curiously, wanting to know what she had been up to.
"Nothing as exciting as you." Hecate shrugged. "I mainly traveled, just seeing the land and trying to stay out of trouble." She admitted. "I was almost caught a couple times by the Knights, but I easily evaded them and traveled somewhere else. I met a few good people along the way. And a lot of people were willing to help me out if it looked like I was in trouble. People were quite willing to help a seemingly helpless woman…" she shrugged.
Ban stared at her for a moment before snickering. Helpless was never a word he would ever use to describe Hecate. The woman was a force to be reckoned with, but as he looked at her now, he could understand how others could see her that way. The clothes the woman wore helped her look skinny and weak, her pale skin and bruised eyes also helped her look weary. But he knew her appearance was a ploy, a way to get others to lower their guard around her and it worked in her favour more often than not. But this woman was strong, she may look weak, but one punch or kick from her would make any sensible person take back their comment.
"Well, it may not be as exciting as what I went through, but it sounds like you had a good adventure." He gave her a crooked grin, watching as she stuck her tongue out at him.
The two shared a laugh when he poked her, and she swatted at him. They could both be ridiculous sometimes, but that was just part of their relationship. They could act childish around each other, pick on each other and there were times where they butted heads in almost catastrophic ways. But then, there were nights where they spent time talking about anything that came to mind. The two had shared many deep, insightful conversations that led them to understanding the other more. Most would say the two were volatile together, but that rarely happened. Most of the time, they were on the same page, knowing what the other was thinking before even speaking. When they worked together, the two could accomplish a lot. Whether that was chaos and disorder, or some form of justice. It always depending on what they felt like doing or how far they were willing to push the buttons of others.
The two paused at a crossroads inside the prison and they were discussion which way to go, arguing childishly why their opinion was better than the others. Before they could burst into a full-fledged fight, a scream of terror pierced the air, coming from the path neither of them considered. With a look, they shrugged and followed the sound of the scream. That fixed that problem of theirs, the decision of which way to go chosen for them by something outside of the two bickering Sins. They didn't feel rushed to find out what happened, knowing their luck, whatever was around would bump into them.
It wasn't long before Hecate could see some figures in the distance, and a smile began spreading across her face. "Well, what did I tell you?" Hecate teased the man next to her. "They came inside."
Ban snorted at her tease, lightly bumping his shoulders against hers with a roll of his eyes. She would never stop doing that with him just to prove she was right, but then again, he did the same thing to her when it was in reverse. The figure closest to them turned around suddenly as if sensing their presence, and Hecate felt herself relax when she saw their Captain. His green eyes lit up at the sight of her and she grinned back, nodding to the man next to her. Causing him to look at Ban in surprise.
"Ban?" Meliodas questioned, looking at the immortal in surprise.
"Oh, Captain?" Ban replied in the same tone, looking at the man, as if realizing he was there.
Hecate took this as her cue, knowing what was going to happen next as she patted Ban's arm with a smile. She headed towards Melodias to join Diane and Hawk, smiling when she stopped next to him. She placed a hand on his shoulder, giving in a gentle squeeze to tell him that she was glad he was back. Ban frowned at the shared smile between their captain his Kitten. He knew it was nothing more than a friendly smile, but it still burned him to see her acting like that. It wouldn't be the first time Ban felt possessive about Hecate. She was his. Plain and simple. He watched as Hecate joined Diane and then focused on his Captain. The two sharing a pointed look with one another. It was easy to tell what the other was thinking about when they were like this. After all, Ban never kept it a secret that he claimed his Kitten as his own, even if she didn't know it.
Coming up to the Diane and Hawk, Hecate was relieved to see them well, if not a little worn for wear. She didn't notice earlier, but now that she was with the other two, she realized someone was missing. Panic gripped her heart at the possibilities of what had occurred when they were separated. She hoped nothing had gone terribly wrong and that the princess was alright.
"Where's Elizabeth?" she asked in concern, noticing that she wasn't with them.
"She's resting in my pack." Diane responded sadly, looking over her shoulder a bit to the pack she always wore.
Hecate nodded slightly, frowning at that. While now wasn't the time to get the full story about it, she knew it would come out later. Her attention was drawn to Hawk who began visibly quake next to them, his eyes had yet to stray from the two men who were having a hard stare down in the dim hallway.
"Why am I getting a nasty vibe right after they've been reunited?" Hawk asked cautiously, almost hesitantly, not daring to let the two men out of his sight. "I've got a bad feeling about this…"
"And you're right to. You should hide behind me." Diane mentioned offhandedly, causing Hecate to snicker as she sat down against the wall nearby. The giantess' words doing nothing to soothe the pig's worry.
"They're always like this. You'll get used to it, eventually." Hecate piped up, giving the pig a sympathetic smile.
She had the same reaction when she first witnessed them acting like this too. Hecate turned her focus to Ban and Meliodas, watching them carefully, and knew what was about to come next. The two, despite what first appearances told others, were best friends. They just had a strange way of expressing that friendship. A moment later the air around the two changed dramatically.
"Ban!" Meliodas shouted gleefully, throwing his hands up into the air.
"Captain!" Ban returned the enthusiasm as the two ran towards each other their hands raised as they met in the middle, high fiving each other numerous times. Each time putting more strength into it.
"What the hell? It's like they're best friends!" Hawk questioned in disbelief, completely taken off-guard by what he was witnessing.
"That's because they are…" Hecate smiled softly, watching the two as Ban put his hands together and slammed them into Meliodas, sending him flying into the wall with manic laughter of glee. He could be adorable sometimes when he acted like this.
"Captain, me next! Me next!" Ban jumped around in joy, laughing manically like a little kid.
Meliodas did as asked as he came back fast, head butting Ban in the stomach. That sent the immortal though the opposite wall near Hecate, who scooted closer to Diane before he made contact and smiled as she watched them. She could hear Diane tell Hawk to just go with it as they continued watching. The two males were snickering as Ban came back to the hallway.
"What the hell, man? I thought good have gone soft…" Ban baited Meliodas with a teasing grin.
"But you're as spry as ever!" Meliodas finished off their joke as they clasped hands again and fell to the ground.
The rumbling of the prison gave Hecate more than enough reason to move closer to Diane, motioning for Hawk to do the same as the giantess moved closer to them. They knew exactly what could happen when those two got into it and Hecate mildly wondered if the prison could withstand them. Hecate sat on Diane's shoulder, watching the two as they began to arm wrestle, causing the entire prison to start cracking and breaking at the sheer power they gave off. Hawk was still concerned and confused as he looked around them, seemingly the only concerned about the building breaking around them. Hecate and Diane were focused on the two men, small smiles playing on their faces as the floor began to dismantle and fall apart.
"Those two have always been like this." Diane mentioned smiling fondly at the captain. "Men are always so immature, right, Hecate?"
"Yeah, they are. And I doubt these two will ever change either." Hecate mused, showing the same fondness as Diane. From her perch, she felt the floor give out as the two men kept at it, completely oblivious to anything else around them. She didn't want them to change, only because she was happy with them as they were.
