A jostle of the tavern pulled Hecate out of her sleep as the entire building shook slightly around her before settling in the regular sway that came with Hawk's Mama walking. A groan left the halfling as she rolled onto her stomach, burying her head into the pillow for a moment before slowly cracking her eyes open. A jumble of incoherent words escaped her lips, muffled by the fabric of the pillow as she slowly pushed herself onto her knees, staring out the window with blurry eyes. Sunlight filtered through the as she took in the countryside a little. She wondered if they arrived at the Necropolis yet, but given that Hawk's Mama was no longer moving, she had to assume that they were. She let out a loud yawn, shuffling on the bed until she reached the edge, plopping herself on her rear as she took a moment to stretch her limbs out. Afterwards, she ran a hand through her hair, scratching a spot before pushing herself up. Her head wasn't pounding as it had earlier, it was now more of a dull throb that was easy to ignore unless it got worse.
As she pulled her boots again, Hecate found her mind wondering to her memories. It had been quite some time since she last thought about her first meeting with Ban all those years ago. She had been a lot more carefree than she was now, less worried about what could happen or was going to happen. It was with her twin that she could see life in all its glory, to continue experiencing new things with the same joy and excitement that she had when they were younger.
"Then again… being with Ban also allows me to see the world in the same light…" Hecate murmured to herself and she sighed softly, plopping back onto the bed.
Staring up at the ceiling, the halfling couldn't help but wonder what was going to happen next. She knew she would have to feed soon, using her ability as she had a few days ago didn't help her self-control. Not only that, but the Captain's blood always had an unpleasant side effect on her. When manipulating his blood, as she did days earlier, she became more fatigued and it wasn't uncommon for headaches flare up randomly until she 'refueled' so to speak. It was the lesser of two evils and something she could counteract with by going out to feed, she hadn't had the change with worrying over Elizabeth. However, if she ingested his blood, she would get physically ill. The first and only time she tasted his blood, she had been sick for days. The reaction had been instant too as her body physically rejected the blood. She was ailed with crippling cramps, horrible dehydration, and severe vomiting.
It was only after her body started calming down that she vowed, over her temporary living quarters in a bathroom, to never, ever allow her Captain to offer her his blood again. She would rather face a thousand deaths than go through the pain and suffering she had experienced by ingesting his blood. Running a hand over her face, Hecate mad a promise to herself to find a deer or something to feast upon before they left the Necropolis, just so she wouldn't have to go through that again.
"But I suppose it makes sense with what he is…" she murmured quietly, resting the back of her hand over her forehead.
Yes, she did know what the Captain was, what race he was, and frankly, she didn't care. The Captain was good to her, and he had her support and loyalty. Until the day he shows himself to be different than what she has seen, she would remain loyal. She would have never though it possible if she hadn't tasted his blood though. She knew that his blood could give full-blooded vampires a huge boost in their regeneration abilities. But for her, it could kill her if she ingested too much.
"Enough of that for now…" Hecate groaned and pushed herself up again. "Time to see what I've missed."
Leaving the room, Hecate headed down to the tavern, where it was void of the others, like she expected. She ran her tongue over her fangs and wondered if she would have enough time to go for a quick feed, but she honestly doubted it. No matter where they went, it seemed that there was always another battle that they were dragged into. It was impossible to stay out of trouble with the group. It was like they were magnets for trouble, even when they didn't go looking for it.
"And knowing my luck… I'll get injured to the point where my control might end up slipping…" she groaned, raking a hand over her face.
A sigh left the halfling as she shook her head, heading towards the exit. Maybe this time would be different, maybe they could finally get stuff done without having to cross blades with others wanting to test their strength against the Sins. But that, like many other thoughts, was a fantastical wish.
Stepping out of the tavern, Hecate noticed that Meliodas, Elizabeth and Hawk were standing on top of Hawk's Mama's head, looking out into the distance with Diane standing next to them. Just as she took a step, she tripped over something, or rather someone suddenly and her balance, for once, failed her.
It wasn't the boot to his head that pulled him out of his memories this time, instead it was that familiar surprised yelp that pulled Ban from his dozing state. With bleary, unfocused eyes, Ban noticed a shadow overhead flail their arms out to try and regain their balance, but it was little to no use as gravity took over. He watched for a moment before reaching out and captured the woman before she fell. He didn't expect her to crash on top of him with such force as he landed hard on his back, causing a grunt to escape him. Somehow, he managed to turn around so his Kitten would land face first in his chest rather than his lap.
Looking up at Hecate, Ban couldn't help but chuckle at the frazzled look upon her face, her dark pink eyes wide in surprise and any sleepiness that was in them was long gone now after that. He couldn't help but chuckle at her, feeling her sharp nails bit into his skin a little, a natural reaction for her when she faced something unexpected. Adjusting his grip around his Kitten, Ban let out a small, content sigh before allowing a smirk to cross his face. He couldn't just let this be, after all. What fun would that give him?
"Still falling for me, even after all these years, Kitten?" the man teased her, letting a slight purr roll off his tongue as he spoke.
He had just finished replaying the moment he first held her in is arms after she fell. She had reacted so easily and relaxed against him, as if she knew he wouldn't harm her. Any time after that, if he was around when she fell, he was always there to catch her, in some form. And she never seemed to complain, nor did she ever struggle to get him to release her. All his Kitten ever did was relax into his embrace, content as a cat bathing in sunlight.
He watched as his Kitten slowly opened her eyes, amusement, and annoyance clear as day as she reached up and playfully flicked his forehead with a smirk on her face, causing him to chuckle. She was so expressive in her appearance, never putting up a wall unless it was absolutely necessary, and he honestly loved that. He enjoyed knowing what she was feeling, and that she felt comfortable enough to be herself around him and others. She didn't hide who she was, not with her species or the dangers that came with being a half vampire.
"Still sleeping in the weirdest of places with no memory of how you got there, Ban?" Hecate shot back teasingly, her soft grin telling him everything he needed to know
"Hmm… you love it." he winked at her playfully and she chuckled, shaking her head a little at him.
"We should probably get up, you know. The Captain will want us searching for King." She spoke softly, gently poking his chest. "Don't want him looking for us and thinking we're up to no good."
"But we're always up to no good, Kitten." Ban whined, stressing the word 'always' with a pout on his face.
Hecate found herself laugh at him and shook her head as she crossed her arms over his chest, prospering her head on top of them. "You just want to get out of working." She teased him easily, shaking her head a little.
"So? Why should we go out looking for the fatty when the Captain is the one who wants to find him?" he asked with a long, dramatic sigh.
He watched as his Kitten merely raised an expectant eyebrow at him and he knew he couldn't put it off any longer. One way or another she would get him to join in, and if he were honest, he didn't exactly want to feel her controlling his body without his consent. It was a bizarre feeling, to have his body move without him being in control and he wouldn't put it past her to try it.
"Fine…" he gave in with another dramatic sigh, rolling his eyes at her when she beamed down at him.
Without another word, he stood up with her still in his arms, causing the halfling to let out a squeal. Ban began laughing at her expense and laughed more when she slapped his chest with the back of her hand, shooting him a mock glare while he could only grin down at her cheekily. He took a moment to steady himself before setting her back onto her feet. He kept his hands around her waist as she found her balance again, being happily selfish with her in his arms for a moment longer.
Hecate smiled softly at him and shook her head as she reached up and gently patted his cheek. "Come on, you, you know how the Captain is." She joked softly before stepping out of his arms and turned to head towards the others.
"…Fine…" he sighed heavily and stuffed his hands into his pockets, a pout set firmly on his face as he followed behind her.
He knew he couldn't keep her to himself and just blow of their Captain. That man was stubborn and would have no trouble hunting them down and drag them back. Why they had to come here though to search for the fatty was beyond him, he didn't see the point of it. But there was little he could do about it, the Captain got what he wanted, no matter what it seemed.
By the time they reached the others, Hawk's Mama stopped moving and they were overlooking a small, desolate looking hamlet. Hecate's softened as she took in the scenery before her and she couldn't help but wonder what caused the town to be in such a state. Buildings old and ramshackle, some looking as if they were barely holding together, while others were nothing more than piles of rubble. The air around the place was gloomy, and clouds were gathering above them, almost teasing rain, but she couldn't smell any moisture coming from above. From what she could smell though, there weren't any people living there, there was no life in the settlement. All she could smell was dust, dirt, death, forest, and something she believed was sweet, but it was too faint for her to tell.
"This is the Necropolis?" Diane asked, looking around, almost disappointed with what she was seeing as she looked around.
"How can they call a run-down hamlet like this a city?" Hawk asked, looking slightly disgusted and put off by the sight.
"Rumor has it that this is the place that's closest to the Necropolis." Meliodas responded with a shrug as he turned to Hecate and Ban. "This is what you heard about, Cat?" he asked the halfling curiously, turning to her a little.
"Pretty much, by the time I first heard about, this place was already abandoned." Hecate nodded to the abandoned hamlet. "But somewhere in this place, supposedly, lies the entrance to the Necropolis."
"How old is this information of yours anyway?" Hawk asked, his voice squeaking a little with slight irritation.
Hecate hummed at that as she turned to the pig, rubbing the back of her neck. Ban couldn't help but smirk a little when he saw a sheepish look cross her face. She always got this way when it came to her expressing her age. Ban had to admit, when he found out her real age, he didn't believe it for a second. She was just too young and beautiful to be so old, but here she was, even after ten years and she hadn't aged a single day.
"Oh… I dunno… about a hundred years or so…" Hecate admitted, a bashful grin formed on her lips as a weak laugh escaped her.
"A… a hundred—!?" Hawk squealed in disbelief, staring at the halfling shock. "J-just how old are you?" he demanded, even Elizabeth looked shocked at her friend's admittance.
It was almost impossible for the third princess to believe that the woman in front of her now was over a hundred years old. She looked so young, and she didn't act like someone who had been around for so long either. There were times when the princess noticed a far-off look in the halfling's eyes, or sometimes she spoke in a way that made her seem older than she appeared… but Elizabeth thought that was just the way she grew up.
"Well, for one, it's rather rude to ask a lady her age…" Hecate scoffed a little, crossing her arms over her chest as she looked away from the others, staring into the hamlet. "And second… I think I'm around one-fifty… Dante and I were about one-thirty when we met Ban for the first time…" she mumbled, tapping her chin in thought.
If Hecate was honest, it was hard for her to keep track of the number of years she had walked on the earth. She could ballpark it, but the actual number always alluded her. All she knew was that she had been around for a while and witnessed the different changes in the nation while exploring and wandering around. She used to be better at keeping track, but for the past twenty years or so, it just became too much of a bother.
A burst of laughter pulled Hecate out of her thoughts and she turned to look at Hawk and Elizabeth, only to be greeted by stone-shocked faces of the two. The laughter was coming from Ban, who made it clear he was happy someone else was as shocked as he first was. Diane and the Captain were just grinning, they weren't phased at all.
"Honestly… it's not that big of a deal!" Hecate huffed, her cheeks puffing out childishly.
Ban wrapped an arm around her and playfully poked her cheeks, grinning like the madman he was. "See, this is the reaction you always get when you admit your age, Kitten." He goaded, still laughing at the others.
Meliodas saw something sharp glint in Cat's eyes and stepped to the side, knowing exactly what was going to happen. Diane, noticing this, took a step back, even she knew that the halfling was sensitive about her age and how people reacted to her. The two Sins watched as the halfling grabbed the arm around her shoulders and with practiced ease, toss Ban into the space the two provided for her. Ban, for his part immediately stopped laughing, his scarlet eyes wide in surprise as he went sailing through the air and a yell escaped him just as he hit the treeline.
"Nice one, Cat. I think that's the furthest you've thrown him yet." Meliodas complimented her after letting out a long whistle.
"That damned idiot is going to wish he could die one of these days…" Hecate muttered to herself with a shake of her head before letting out a deep sigh. "Anyway, what do you want us to do, Captain?" she asked, folding her hands behind her back with a smile, acting as if nothing had happened.
Elizabeth couldn't help but wonder who Hecate really was. Every moment she spent with the halfling, she discovered something new about it, a different side that she never thought she would see. Looking in the direction Ban went, the princess found herself admiring the other woman a little, she reminded her of her sister Veronica with the way she dealt with such behaviour. The only real difference was the Hecate had no fear of the repercussions that could await her, she freely expressed her irritation in a way that Ban might understand.
"Let's give Hawk's Mama some room so she can put the tavern down first and wait till Ban joins us again." Meliodas suggested, folding his hands behind his head as he looked around at everyone.
"Fine by me." Hecate shrugged and walked to the edge of the giant pig and jumped off with ease, landing on the ground in a slight crouch.
Laughing, Meliodas shook his head and looked over at Elizabeth, Hawk and Diane. "Mind giving us a lift, Diane?" he asked the giantess, who was more than willing with help.
Once everyone was on the ground, Hawk's Mama buried under the earth, allowing the tavern to be open for business. A moment later, Ban returned to the group, panting slightly with twigs and leaves stick in his hair, his red eyes glaring solely on the halfling, who, admittedly, look quite nonchalant about the entire thing, as if she hadn't just thrown him halfway across the forest. The woman merely looked at him impassively, her arms tucked into the bell sleeves of her tunic.
"Now that we're all here," Meliodas grinned at them, watching as Ban took his place next to his halfling. "We'll start by gathering intel on King and the Necropolis." He told them simply. "We also need money to fee ourselves." He added, ignoring when Hecate let out a snort. "Okay, let's get ready for business!" he declared.
"You're seriously gonna run the bar, Captain?" Ban asked, amusement laced in his voice and face as he turned to the man.
Even he could see that it would be a lost cause. The entire town was empty, everyone there knew it. Hell, he wouldn't be surprised if they were duped by the intel, not that he didn't trust his Kitten's word of course, but humans were known for lying.
"He's seriously cute when he's working!" Diane gushed, causing both Hecate and Ban to look over at the giantess before sharing amused looks.
"You guys are gonna work, too!" their Captain declared, pointing at them, and Hecate found herself groaning at that.
Of course, he was going to make them work…
The blonde pointed at Diane first with a grin. "Start attracting us some customers, jumbo billboard girl!" he appointed Diane, and Hecate had to nudge Ban to keep him from snorting in amusement.
"Me?!" Diane asked, purely out of excitement, pressing her hands to her cheeks as she swooned a little.
"You," their Captain pointed at Hecate, "can help wait tables with Elizabeth, wearing the same uniform and bake dedicant desserts!"
"I'll take the baking, so long as I'm not wearing—" Hecate trailed off shifting uncomfortably when their Captain got a mischievous gleam in his eyes.
"And you'll wear the uniform while doing both." He declared, ignoring the glare sent his way.
"Damn bastard…" she muttered under her breath, shifting uncomfortably at the thought of having to wear the uniform that Elizabeth always wore.
The halfling didn't like showing off her body like that, she preferred dressing in layers or with long sleeves. But she knew that the Captain would never modify the uniform, at all and she would have to keep on wearing it while working in the tavern. It was going to be a hassle and a pain for her, but she supposed she would have to deal with it. That acceptance made Hecate sigh in defeat, which allowed Meliodas to grin in victory.
"And you cook up some tasty grub, jailbird cook!" Meliodas pointed at Ban this time, and Hecate couldn't help but snicker at that.
"Me?" Ban repeated, not at all believing this turn of events.
"Are you sure you didn't mean 'smelly'?" Hawk asked, causing Ban to nudge his Kitten when she snorted.
"I want to be sarcastic and say its just skillfully made, but it's genuinely tasty." Meliodas admitted, but it wasn't far from the truth, Ban was a better cook than their Captain, simple as that.
"Hey, hang on..." Ban tried to protest, but he was interrupted by their Captain clapping his hands.
"To work then!" he told the group. "Put your backs into it, people!"
It was not uncommon for their Captain to ignore the protests of the others, especially when he was set in his ideas. That was why the Sins would sometimes ignore their Captain's orders, even before they were on the run, it was not uncommon for the Sins to dismiss the blonde's orders if they thought it was optional. For as much as the Sins respected the man, they were not afraid to do their own thing, whether or not it was what he wanted them to do.
Due to the Captain being distracted by both Elizabeth and Diane, Ban and Hecate walked off to do their own thing. It was not an uncommon thing to happen, especially when they were in sync like they seemed to be that day. Ban had his hands stuffed into his pockets, a tired, and slightly annoyed look upon his face as he stared blankly at the road in front of him. Next to him, Hecate was dragging her feet, lightly kicking at the pebbles and stones on the road. She looked drained, and paler than she did earlier. Something was bothering her, and he wondered if she was remembering the past too.
"Thinking about them too?" Ban asked her softly, and much to his surprise, her head shot up, eyes wide.
"Huh? Oh… sure?" Hecate spoke with uncertainty, something that didn't occur often with the halfling.
He paused at that and frowned at her, but she didn't seem to notice at all. "Hey, what's on your mind, Kitten?" he asked, holding an arm out so she wouldn't just walk off. "You're spacing out…"
He watched as she walked into his arm, bouncing off it a little and just stopped with a sigh. He walked in front of her, tilting her head up to look at him. His eyes narrowed a little at the way she was looking, but even he didn't know what he could do to help. She closed her eyes for a moment, her brows pinching together before shaking her head and opening them again.
"My headache hasn't gone away…" she admitted quietly to the man. "I don't know if it's place or using my powers three days ago to keep the Captain stable… I just feel… off…" She sighed and leaned forward after he released her face, pressing her head against his chest.
"Then… I dunno… just stay close to me then. If you need a boost, I'll spot you." Ban sighed, running his fingers through her hair a little.
It was rare for his Kitten to admit weakness to anyone, even to him. He felt her nod against his chest and he lightly patted her head. She was always an odd one, the one person he didn't understand fully, but craved to do so. Even her brother wasn't so complicated, but Hecate… well, she drew him in and kept him thirsty for more.
"Come on, let's see what we can find, maybe we can finally prove the Captain that no one lives here, huh?" he grinned weakly at her, hoping for a response, and he wasn't disappointed.
Hecate let out a weak chuckle as she righted herself, giving the immortal a lopsided smile. "We can only hope that's the case." She teased him lightly, and he smirked, seeing some more life come back to her.
"Those bracelets finally working?" He nodded to the lightly glowing bands around her wrist.
"Barely…" Hecate admitted with a shake of her head. "I'll need Merlin to look at them whenever we find her… I think something happened to them over the years or whatever she did to them is wearing off."
Ban nodded, though he didn't fully understand what those bracelets of her did. "Well, that'll wait till that smug bitch comes around." He mused, snorting when his Kitten lightly slapped him in the stomach.
"Be nice. If it weren't for these, I'd be a lot more zombie like than this." She reminded hm, but the seriousness was lost with the amusement that dominated her face and eyes.
"Yeah, yeah. Whatever you say, Kitten." He chuckled and the two went off again.
In the distance they could hear Diane calling out to people to stop by the tavern for drinks and food, but the two ignored this knowing it wouldn't do them much good. Hecate's nose twitched a little as that sweet scent from earlier began teasing her with the presence of someone nearby, but not allowing her to pinpoint their location. A slightly frustrated sigh left her as she rubbed her nose trying to understand why the scent was so out of place. She was so focused on that, that she didn't notice Ban stopping until he grabbed onto her sleeve.
"What is—" Hecate went to question the immortal, turning around a little.
She stopped however, her breath catching in her throat the moment she saw a small girl with brownish blonde hair leaning against an arch way. Her heart felt as if stopped for a moment as she saw Elaine standing there instead. Hecate took a step towards the girl, ignoring her companion as he talked to himself about something. It was almost uncanny to see someone look so close to Elaine, even though she knew it wasn't possible for that to happen.
Looking at the girl though, the halfling found herself frowning, something was wrong with the girl. She was pale and looked a little sickly. Since Ban had released her sleeve, the halfling was able to move forward until the girl's dark eyes, closed weakly and she toppled. Acting purely out of instinct, Hecate caught the girl before she hit the ground.
"Hey, are you okay?" she asked out of concern, gently turning the girl onto her back, holding her up slightly.
"What happened?" Ban asked, coming out of his thoughts, and joined her, squatting down next to his Kitten.
"She fainted," the woman responded softly, gently brushing some hair from the girl's face. "It looks like she hasn't eaten in days…"
"Hmm…" Ban responded with a slight node before reaching over and gently tapped the girl's face. "Hey… Hey missy." He called softly to the girl, and the two watched as she opened her eyes. "You awake?" he asked, and Hecate lightly swatted him.
"There we are, you scared us, sweetie." Hecate spoke softly with a soft smile.
The girl looked dazed, turning her head slightly to look at them. It was almost as if she wasn't even aware that she had fainted in the first place. It pained Hecate's heart to see that, remembering a time when she and Dante were young, and food was scarce, before they knew about their vampire linage. The same thing happened to them too, fainting without realizing it.
"Get your hands off Ellen!" a voice shouted from behind Ban a boy a little older than the girl, with brown hair appeared in the doorway of one of the abandoned houses, wielding a pitching. "What are you doing with my sister?" the boy demanded angrily, causing the halfling to smile a little.
His fire reminded her of Dante a little. Her brother always a tad overprotective of her and Elaine. With a shake of her head, Hecate watched as Ban turned to the kid, unimpressed with what he saw.
"Hey, kid. If you're her big brother, shouldn't you be making sure she's fed?" the immortal asked raising an eyebrow, not bothering to be gentle with the boy.
"We're not trying to harm, Ellen, right? She fainted while we were passing by." Hecate spoke gently, a stark contrast to her companion.
"Shut up! Get away from my sister!" the boy demanded, causing Hecate to sigh.
He was far too angry to see or listen to reason, but she couldn't blame him. The two of them were strangers trespassing on the land, plus, she was holding his sister currently. She could only imagine that he thought they were trying to steal his sister away, when really, they weren't.
"I said, are you making sure she's fed?" Ban repeated and Hecate turned to him sharply.
He wouldn't…
"I'll take her away from you." Ban finished and Hecate groaned in irritation.
"Of course, he would… idiot…" she muttered under her breath and focused on the girl instead. "You really okay there?" she asked the girl, helping her sit up a little more. "I would offer you some water that I usually carry with me, but unfortunately I left in my room."
The girl looked up at the halfling slowly, her eyes starting to focus a little more before the sound of something piercing flesh caught both female's ears. Turning slightly the watched as the girl's brother stabbed Ban in the chest with his pitchfork, causing the boy to stop, trembling a little. That was enough for the girl to get up in panic.
"Brother! This man and woman were tending to me!" she shouted, and Hecate finally saw tears in both their eyes at what was done.
Hecate stood with that and shook her head as she walked over to Ban to see how bad it was. She couldn't help but shake her head when she noticed that the weapon hardly went in and grabbed the handle, yanking it out, and only a little blood trickled from the wounds. For Ban though, he was unimpressed, his eyes were passive and stared at her while she freed his body of the contraption. She turned to the kids with a kind smile as she handed the pitchfork back to the boy.
"Don't worry, he's fine. A little flesh wound like that is nothing." She assured the two gently, and lightly petted their heads.
"B-but I thought…" the kid stuttered, staring at the two in disbelief. "I'm sorry! How can I atone for my sin?" he asked, lowering his head slightly and his sister started at her brother, fearing what might be coming next.
"Atone?" Ban repeated amused as he started getting up. "Atone for what, kid?" he asked facing the two fully now, completely healed.
"That wound!" the siblings gasped, unable to believe what they were seeing.
"Like I said before, you don't need to worry about what happened, he actually heals quickly." Hecate told them softly.
Sweetness teased Hecate's nose again and the halfling found herself staring upwards, that was the only logical place the scent would be coming from because she knew it wasn't the kids. They smelt otherworldly, but that was even if she could catch their scent at all, it was always fading in and out, like they were trying to be tangible.
"Let me tell you something. Genuine sins can't be atoned for." Ban told the two, and only for the Sins, did those words carry weight to them.
A sudden flood of sweetness assaulted her nose, barely giving her any warning as something sharp sliced through her arm and embedded itself into Ban's chest. A low hiss of pain erupted from the halfling as she clutched the stump where her arm had been, using her ability to stop the blood from leaving her body. She ignored the pole of the spear as she grabbed her severed arm from the ground and held it over her shoulder, turning to see the body of a young boy laying on his side on the pole. She slowly moved away from them, wanting to get distance in case things got bad.
She saw his short orangey brown hair and pale skin, knowing that he had brownish-orange eyes. She had seen this boy before, by accident over two years ago. She took notice of the long orange and aqua sweater with navy sleeves, and quarter-length navy blue pants that were paired with sockless short boots.
"That's very observant of you." A male voice spoke, in amusement, seeing the irony of those words.
The second those words were said, a bunch of blood erupted from Ban's mouth as the immortal stared in surprise of the boy in front of him. But Ban wasn't overly concerned about the boy, it was the fact that his Kitten was holding her severe arm, her eyes flashing between light and dark pink as she used her ability. The severed arm she held had her bracelets on it, a vital took that she needed to keep sane.
Ban knew they could all be in trouble if she didn't get fixed soon.
