Kagome studied her task. Grinding the herbs down while waiting for the warm tea to finish. Rin came in. "What are you doing?"
"Making tea,"
"Are you staying?" She asked, "My Lord did offer, right?"
Kagome smiled. "He did," Then her smile faded, and she looked away from her task up at Rin. "Maybe one day, but not today,"
Kagome poured the herbs into a cup and then the warm tea on top of it.
It was only enough for one.
Sesshomaru entered. His room smelled like Kagome though she left quickly. After their coupling, he left to clean up and redress, and when he came back, she was gone. He gave her space.
Rin looked at Sesshomaru. "She's not staying, my Lord," She pouted,
"That is her choice," He stated as he walked closer. He looked down at the cup of tea in her hand. He could smell it, knew what it was.
"Leave us, Rin,"
She bowed her head and ducked out of the room quickly.
He watched as she put the tea to her lips, pausing only for a moment.
"You thought it was required?"
"Hey, it only takes one time,"
"I do not smell your heat,"
Kagome coughed, almost spitting out her tea. "Wait, you can smell that?!"
"If I look for the scent, yes,"
Kagome blushed and made a mental note not to visit during the heat.
She cleared her throat. "Im human; I can fall pregnant a few days before and a few days after,"
She figured he would ask her to drink it anyway.
"I figured you had herbs ready, I had to go find these," She was just trying to make conversation.
"I am not a Miko; why would I carry such things?"
She looked at him. "To prevent it?"
He looked at her for a long moment, and she tilted her head. "What?"
"Releasing as I did is not something I do, Miko,"
Kagome looked away. "Oh," She wasn't sure how she felt about that.
"Are you leaving because of it?"
"Because of last night?" She asked herself; she knew what he was referring to. She sighed and looked at him."Yes, No,"
"Would you have stayed if last night did not happen?"
"I dont know, maybe. Look, you dont like complicated, and the last thing I need is complicated, and dont say, dont feel because you know I do,"
Sesshomaru ran his hand through her hair. "I cannot say it would not happen again,"
"Im not a toy Sesshomaru,"
"I thought you wished to pretend?"
"When does playing house stop being play and start being real?"
He was confused,
"What if I did get pregnant?"
"You would not let that happen,"
"What if I did? What if I wanted?"
He pulled his hand away, and she looked down. "Look, we have a history together, and we trust each other. You can say you dont care, but I know you do," Her eye met his as she tried to find the right words. "I could easily fall for you,"
"Because of my brother?"
"What, no, what does Inuyasha have to do with it?"
"One night, Miko will not make you fall for me,"
"One night, no," She wasn't in love with the guy. "Thats what it was right one night?"
"If you leave,"
"Are you asking me to stay?"
"I told you I am not opposed,"
Kagome rolled her eyes. "It would just be complicated,"
"It is sex,"
She glared at him. "One night is a chance, two nights is fun, three nights is something, more than that, and Im just your whore,"
He opened his mouth to object, but she didnt let him. "Then what, say I stay and we, we entered into that kind of relationship, to what end, Sesshomaru? Are you going to mate a human? Have halfbreed children? Love me?"
He could not find words; he didnt know what to say.
Kagome sat the cup of poisoned tea down. She would not be carrying with her as she left the West, and him.
