Prompt: Confessions (February 2020)

The bedroom's open door stared back at Elsa like Marshmallow's cavernous jaw. She considered illuminating the dim corners, lighting a fire in the hearth, anything that could alleviate the oppression hanging over the faded lilac paint - but found herself unable to venture over the threshold separating light from darkness.

Not even Gerda's gentle voice convinced her, "Her Majesty kept your room exactly like it was the day you left, dusted daily. She mentioned, if you ever wish to return-"

Elsa shook her head, "No, it's fine. I'm not going to- Is Anna ready to see me now?"

Anticipation buzzed beneath Elsa's skin as she followed Gerda to the Queen's study. Along the way, she listened to the many things her sister had accomplished for Arendelle, and Gerda's long list of grievances.

"...expanding the housing quarters, and, and-"

"Gerda, Gerda," Elsa reassured, voice calm like the Fjords in Spring, "you have to believe Anna placed you in charge because she trusts you-"

"Yes, my child," Gerda answered, eyes bowed from the dazzling radiance of Elsa's gown, "I'm terribly sorry, it's just…different without you around-"

Knocking, Gerda entered the Royal Study, eyes aloft as she announced, "Your Majesty! Elsa of Northuldra has arrived."

Despite Elsa's memory of her spacious office, the added furniture and slight mess with which Anna had created in the place left it appearing smaller than before. Less empty space for ghastly echoes. Cosy armchairs to meet with guests. A large velvet sofa. More…intimate. She locked her eyes on Anna's prim figure seated behind a desk, who promptly dropped her pen and upset her chair as she lurched towards her sister in excitement.

Elsa curtsied, blonde tresses draped from her shoulders like a frozen waterfall. Despite the respectful gesture, her sister still stood an arm's length from the ethereal aura radiating from her gown. The Queen waited in silence, an agonising few seconds for Gerda to leave and shut the door.

"We've gone over this," Elsa insisted, holding her curtsey, "You can come closer, I won't bite."

Unless you make me.

"Oh my god, you're here," Anna gushed, "you're actually, finally here."

Elsa pondered the slight distance her sister kept from her, and took pains to ensure the air was warm, and nothing but a calm serenity glowed between them. Her efforts were rewarded when the Queen stepped forward, signet ring extended on her pinkie.

"Greetings to Her Majesty," Elsa bowed, kissing Anna's hand. She allowed her lips to linger on her fingers. Breath held in anticipation of the trembling which meant so much to her.

They did.

Anna hurled herself into Elsa's arms the moment she rose. Warmth radiated from each heavy breath Anna took, but the thick folded pleats of her regal gown still felt stiff. Elsa grasped at the velvet as a tangible frustration set in, amplified when her sister broke the embrace. A two second hug just wasn't enough.

"Would you like some tea?" Anna asked, motioning for her to be seated, "it's a little late though."

Elsa watched her sister's fingers hover over a teapot, before changing her mind and reaching for a bottle of wine behind the couch. She hesitated again, and opted for a half-finished bottle of scotch.

"I'm here on business," Elsa reminded.

"-right, business," Anna submitted, adjusting her hair and pouring herself and Elsa a drink. Beneath the dim lanterns, dark amber liquid swirled around the crystal tumbler. Elsa fought her mind's compulsion to wander.

"How are things up North?" Anna asked.

"Waterworks are nearly completed, crop irrigation at seventy percent. The school is finished. Northuldra thanks Her Majesty for assisting us."

Alcohol burned down Elsa's throat as she took a sip of scotch. She watched Anna closely as she downed the entire half-glass, lips curling into a gentle smile at scarlet spreading between her freckles.

"We report-"

"A-and you," Anna interrupted, voice cracking, "How are you?"

"Me? I'm fine," Elsa answered, gaze drifting over her neckline, "I'm more concerned about you-"

Anna pressed a hand to her forehead. She sucked in a breath, before her voice broke with emotion.

"I-I don't even know where to begin," Anna stuttered, eyes betraying a hidden desperation belying her regal stature, "there's just so much work to be done - such perpetual triviality and monotony. Everyone's looking to me to lead them. I-I wish you could be around to tell me what to do."

Elsa's gaze softened as she listened to each fevered plea from her sister, "Anna, I gave you the crown because I knew you were-"

"And I miss you," Anna wiped her eyes, "it's not just because I want your help, or otherwise. It gets so awfully lonely each day, meetings and squabblings and the endless frustrations just seem so meaningless without you around to make it worthwhile-"

"-that's what I'm here for-"

"I want you back," Anna confessed, shifting closer to Elsa and backing her against the sofa's edge, "My heart needs you, Elsa. Even if it's just as a sister, or an advisor, or whatever-"

"I-"

"Tell me you feel the same way," Anna begged, urgency seeping through every word, "that you miss me. That you'll come back here-"

Elsa flinched as a thump landed on her wrist. Her breath hitched at Anna's hand clasped over hers. Warm and inviting. Pulse racing. Just for a moment, she contemplated giving in. Not so soon.

"My business is done, your Majesty," Elsa smirked, taking a last sip of liquor, "Unless you have a game of charades waiting with Kristoff, I shall take my leave to the North-"

"What? You just got here! Kristoff's away!" Anna pleaded, eyes widening in panic as Elsa rose and bowed, "We can still play! It doesn't have to be charades, or anything, we could just talk. Please? I want you so badly as a sister. It doesn't even matter if we keep our distance, or resist letting things get out of hand like last time- Never mind, we could play-"

"-Truth or dare?"

Anna's lips parted, hands clasped around her sister's shoulders. Her neck was flushed red from alcohol. Hint of scotch lining her breath.

"Sure! I mean, w-what's truth or dare? How does it work?"

Elsa's mind churned, before she answered, "You tell me a secret, and I'll tell you one. Each time, the other person gives a kiss-"

"A kiss? Where?" Anna trembled with anticipation.

Elsa leant close and whispered, "That depends on how…juicy the secret is."

Without pause, Anna cleared her throat and allowed the words to tumble from her lips, "I deliberately sent Kristoff away tonight so we could spend time alone, together-"

A smirk graced Elsa's lips, before she bent forward. A slight pause an inch from Anna's cheek, before whispering "you're going to have to do better than that-" and leaving both a scarlet blush on her freckled cheeks, and a rumbling hunger for more.

Anna's head spun. Whether it was the alcohol or the giddy sensation of Elsa's proximity scarcely mattered. She touched the spot of heat rapidly spreading across her cheek, and coaxed her sister, "Your turn."

Elsa looked at the ceiling and hesitated, before downing another half-glass of scotch. The fiery liquid left a cherry-red flush on her face when she continued.

"While I was confined, every year I'd make an ice sculpture of what I imagined you'd look like," Elsa grinned, fingers brushing against Anna's arm, "Some years you'd be dressed. Some years you'd be undressed. I wasn't far off from how I imagined you'd look like naked-"

Anna bit down on her lip. She leant towards Elsa's knuckles, before turning them over and leaving a peck on her wrist, relishing in the thumping within her veins.

Breathless with exhilaration, Anna continued, "The first time we met at the coronation, I was terrified of you. You were so, j-just so perfect that the sight of your beauty scared me half to death. Yet ever since then I've wondered what your lips tasted like-"

Elsa stepped even closer. She swept her tongue across her lips. Half-lidded eyes glowing with want. She dipped in for a kiss, only to stop tantalisingly close to sating Anna's bated breath.

"Hardly a secret to you anymore."

The pleading desperation in Anna's eyes was enough to melt Elsa's resolve. What little space between them vanished into nothingness as Elsa committed the luscious softness of her sister's lips to memory. It'd been too long since she last tasted them. And she didn't know how much longer she'd go without. A gentle whimper from the depths of Anna's chest stirred even more hunger in Elsa. All of a sudden, the strawberry scent of Anna's hair, the taste of her lips - the impenetrable royal gown guarding her soft body. It just wasn't enough. She'd nearly passed out from the mind-numbing pleasure of the kiss before realising it was still her turn.

It took all her strength to break away. And even then, she still had to hold off Anna, lurching after her lips. Restless with lust.

"Patience, patience, dear Sister," Elsa whispered, as she pondered the next secret to reveal.

Swept away by the game's giddy excitement, Elsa hesitated, teeth clenched in burgeoning arousal. Another secret sat behind her tongue. A safe one. But the hunger of wanting more from Anna's lips and the rush of alcohol broke her restraint.

"The day after our parents died," Elsa seethed, gripping Anna's gown so tightly that the seam began to unravel, "There was so much grief. So much loneliness. I couldn't wait any longer or hold it in anymore, I touched myself with the anticipation of seeing you again-"

"You didn't!"

Flinging herself against Elsa, the sisters collided against a bookshelf, sending treasury ledgers fluttering to the carpet. Hungry lips drank deep of the vanilla taste scattered in tiny freckles upon Elsa's neck. A hoarse moan reverberated around the study as Elsa fought to regain her composure. She wasn't ready for this. Lungs heaving, they gripped each other by the arms, eyes burning with desire and reminding themselves that this game was not over yet.

"I s-snuck into your room once while you were in Denmark on business," Anna snarled into Elsa's collarbone in raw, sputtery breaths, "I ploughed my face into y-your pillows so I could get off to your scent."

Blood rushed into Elsa's loins. Quivering hands fumbled with buttons, before she finally peeled the gown over Anna's shoulders. Anna flung her head back as Elsa planted soft, delicate kisses onto her bosom - until she quickly lost control and devoured each peak until they hardened against her lips.

Blonde locks interlaced Anna's fingers. For a moment, the library's dim lamps faded into pure white as heat spread through Anna's core.

"Your turn," Anna reminded, voice trembling with impatience.

"That first night after I returned, when you slept over next to me," Elsa's lips moved against her skin, "I fucked myself to the sound of you sleeping-"

"-oh god, Elsa!"

Firm hands shoved Elsa upon the carpet. Her eyes widened as Anna ripped the hem of her gown, scattering snowflakes everywhere. A long, throaty gasp vacated Elsa's lungs as her sister sprawled between her legs, and she started hyperventilating at what she did next.

So much for not letting things get out of hand.

Hands nestled in Anna's crown braid, Elsa cried to the heavens as her sister left her heaving with pleasure. The list of secrets she'd prepared in advance evaporated from her mind. Stars crossed her eyes as her hips rose and fell. She'd barely heard the murmuring between her legs before realising it was still Anna's turn.

"Oh, Anna," Elsa groaned, nails digging into her scalp, "w-wait, what? What'd you say?"

Anna looked up and mumbled in response, drawing a gasp from the pit of Elsa's lungs. Frost skirted uncontrollably from her hands as she toppled over in wide-eyed shock. The confession struck her cold.

She'd be hard-pressed finding a place to kiss, just to top that.
