Chapter 1.1
Two Big Problems, But…
[Heres], this was the name given to something that no one can say whether it is a curse, a disease or even a parasite.
This "thing" just exploded in all seven nations of[Teyvat], which even though it was a supercontinent, suffered immensely from it in every possible place.
Heres, named after an ancient God who walked Teyvat five millennia ago, means that which all living things fear in one way or another: Death .
Heres is an incurable disease, which will kill you.
Heres is a curse with no reversal, which will kill you.
Heres is a parasite, which if it doesn't kill you, will turn you into a monster or take away your sanity— And that will force other people to kill you.
The result is always death, one way or another.
No one, in more than five centuries, has ever managed to make any significant advances in curing or reversing it. At most, they managed to slow down their progress with different techniques or creations, such as covering important parts of the body with their own bones, which slowed down Heres' progress for some time.
Even the most renowned groups, individuals, organizations and families from around the world have tried to find a cure, but none have ever succeeded.
Many years passed without any clues of a possible cure or salvation.
In the first hundred years, they still believed there was a chance to save those infected by Heres; However, by the end of the second century, almost no one believed in a cure.
Three hundred years after its appearance, Heres was considered by many to be a curse from the Gods and that there was no cure. Maybe it was payment for something from the past? Nobody ever knew how to answer that question.
Four centuries later, those infected in many parts of the world were considered unholy, monsters, or walking corpses.
And now, more than five centuries later, getting infected with this disease just means you have to buy a coffin and wait.
No one knows its origin or reason for existing. Many theorize that it was a consequence of the [Cataclysm] , a famous event that shook this entire supercontinent and even started a new calendar in the world.
Heres is not the only problem the nations of [Teyvat] need to resolve. Time will never stop and problems will never stop appearing either. In addition to Heres, nations had to deal with their own internal problems, crises, threats and even new diseases that emerged.
The game of life is based on adaptation and evolution. This is something that not even Gods can stop doing.
[Mondstadt], one of the seven nations, also has another big problem besides Heres.
[Stormterror], a being with the ability to break mountains in half, change the climate or simply open the sea with its winds. He is someone who belongs to the only species that can challenge Gods on equal terms right after their birth: Dragons .
He has been tormenting Mondstadt for four hundred years. No one knows why, but they don't need to know that anymore. They saw thousands of deaths caused by it, so they decided they would no longer stand by.
Heres and Stormterror, two big problems that never stop tormenting Mondstadt.
But finally, Mondstadt decided to act.
And someone didn't like the idea. Quite the contrary, he felt angry with disgust at the decisions made regarding these two problems.
Of course, he's not the only one who thinks this way, but he's certainly the craziest or bravest enough to try to fix it.
Well, every now and then some people show up trying to sort things out. But no one pays attention to these people anymore. After all, it always ends with them dead or giving up.
But this time there is a problem—
"I'm here to talk to you about the announcement from three days ago."
— He's either stubborn or simply too proud to give up.
"I understand. I think that's what's expected of you. So go ahead."
