Paul left the hardware store with high hopes of seeing the new girl, Hannah, again. 'That girl was hot' he thought to himself with a wolfish grin. He returned to the mechanic shop the pack all worked at, still thinking of the girl. Walking in he saw Embry working the front desk and Jacob walking through from the garage, wiling the oil from his hands onto a rag.

"Sup Paul, what's got you so happy?" Embry asked with his usual boyish grin.

"Just the mega babe I saw at the hardware store" Paul responded cockily.

"Really Paul? Is that all you ever think about" Jacob said with exasperation, shaking his head at his pack brother.

"You'd be thinking the same if you saw her. Long hair, slim toned body, and a nice round, firm as"-

"DUDE! We get it, you think she's hot" Jacob barked, tiring of Paul's constant talk of women's bodies.

Once upon a time Jacob may have joined in, but after Edward had left and Bella had sunken into her depression he had become close with Bella. The two spent nearly every day together and when he had to stay away from Bella it tore him apart to hurt her. When she had finally had enough and gone to see him at his house he had never been more happy in his life to have imprinted on her the moment their eyes met. Suddenly it wasn't his pack, his dad, his sister holding him to the earth, it was her. All that mattered was her and making her happy, worshipping her for life, and so he could finally let her in on the pack's life and told her that he imprinted. And so he was not about to disrespect his mate with shop talk about how hot Paul thought a girl was.

"Oh come on, just because you're whipped doesn't mean you can't joke around with me" Paul pouted childishly, earning a hard glare from Jacob.

"I'm not whipped, I just respect Bella. Besides, wait till you imprint, you'll be eating your words."

"Alright guys enough, I'm sure she was just as hot as you say Paul but we have work to do", Embry started trying to deescalate the situation, "besides, you can show us later on patrols what she looked like" he finished with a cheeky smile.

"Alright, alright. Later." Paul conceded, getting to work.

The three of them finished up on the cars left in the garage and once done they headed over to Sam and Emily's place for a delicious dinner cooked by Emily. With stomachs full and all the guys around, conversation steered back to the girl Paul saw at the store. He caught them all up on how fit she was, the toned butt he could see even in the clothes she was wearing.

"Hey, who knows Paulie, it sounds like you're falling in love" Jared teased elbowing him in the ribs and receiving a shove from Paul in response.

"She wishes" Paul laughed.

The group joined in the laughter and soon Sam was reminding the guys that they had patrol tonight. After helping Emily wish the dishes, Embry and Paul made their way to the tree line where they stripped off their clothes and shifted, starting their patrol.

"So Paul, how hot was this girl you saw?" - Embry

Paul's thought shifted to the girl and he brought them into the front of his mind, floating them over the pack bond so that Embry could see. What he saw was a girl that was a head shorter than Paul wearing dark jeans, a purple tank and a flannel over the top. She work a baseball cap but he could see her long brown hair flowing from underneath it, a dark brown with lighter brown and honey highlights, not that he knew the term for it. She had a cooler, lighter skin tone that reminded him of Bella's but a warm blush to her cheeks. Her eyes were a green/hazel framed by dark eyelashes. Her lips were a natural plumpness and light pink in colour, slightly cracked but made her even more beautiful because it was a natural beauty, but humble? She was the most beautiful girl he'd ever seen.

"She's beautiful" - Embry

"Hey, dibs! And what is wrong with you, you sound like you're in love with her... But she is smoking hot though, right?" - Paul

Embry gave out an unexpected growl at those thoughts. He felt protective of this girl, though he didn't know why. He'd never even met this girl, or even knew her name yet.

"It's Hannah, and bro what's with the growl? If you really want her that bad then you can have her" - Paul

"She's not an object to just give away, she's a person." - Embry

At this the pairs thoughts became silent and it became a bit tense between them. The two continued their patrol as usual with no issues and by the end of the night the tension between them had disappeared and they were back to their joking selves. As the sun dawned the two shifted and changed back into their clothes, separating and heading their separate ways.

Paul, as much as he could be thick-headed sometimes, was aware that something was going on for Embry to have thought the way he did about Hannah and he was willing to respect that and not try to make a move.

Embry, well, he was confused as to why he responded the way he did to the girl in Paul's thoughts. Hannah. He couldn't stop thinking about her, even when he was trying to fall asleep. Finally he was able to fall asleep but not without the images of her in his mind.
