Disclaimer!

I own nothing of DC Comics. I make no money from this fanfic and the only thing I own are my OC's/Original Characters!

A/N: This chapter is short but honestly, I don't know how else I could have dragged out this chapter without it being boring. I hope you all like it.

China/Angelic Springs Village

It was early in the morning when Jin woke up in the spare bedroom of I-Ching's martial arts dojo and when he woke up, he saw another update message from his system.

[Greetings player. Your system has experienced another update and is now version 1.112V with various new features, buffs and changes made to your gaming experience.

You can now gain Source Crystals and Loot Orbs!

Source Crystals can be used to purchase levels, upgrade skills, purchase rare or unique skills, perks or items from the newly implemented 'Gamer Store' where the only currency you can use is the Source Crystals themselves.

Loot Orbs are randomized items that you can get via a Gacha like system of items ranging from common junk to UR God slaying weaponry.

Enjoy.]

Jin looked at the screen with a bit of confusion, but he didn't pay too much attention before he decided to finally update his stats after a while of waiting and training under I-Ching.

You have learned how to fight and as a result your unarmed physical attacks deal an additional 20% Damage!

Scales with STR and AGI stats as damage modifiers!

Currently this perks effect is boosted by 73%!

Warning! The stat boost looks good, but it might not do as much damage as you might think based on enemy skills, perks, traits and levels!

"Okay the games warned me before I did something stupid. So, my overall physical damage is boosted by a combined total of 93% but that alone isn't anywhere near enough for me to be able to take down Fang. Luckily my apprentice title grants me a boosted learning speed in martial arts." Jin said before he stood up for the day and got cleaned up and dressed in the bathroom before heading outside where he saw I-Ching and his dog Dumpling waiting for him.

"Your late. As always, and you know what that means." I-Ching said as he had both hands on his walking stick before slightly raising it up in the air before lightly tapping it on the ground.

"What do you mean again? You said wake up and come out here at sunrise. That's what I did." Jin replied with a flat expression on his face as the chilling morning wind hit his skin as he was now dressed in what he assumed were monk style robes that I-Ching had given him.

They were a dark orange and yellow mix of colors that seemed to have started fading from the effects of time.

"It's past sunrise if we are being specific. That makes you five minutes late, however that is the borderline of acceptable time, so I won't increase your training regime by too much of a margin." I-Ching said with a smile while Jin kept his flat look on his face before Dumpling started barking.

"Now, let's start off with a light jog." I-Ching said before the training started and Jin saw another alert in front of his face as he jogged.

Daily Quest Alert!

Name: Martial Arts Training I

You are being trained by the God of Martial Arts or at least that what his reputation says whenever they speak of him. Your training is rough buddy, but this is the path you choose.

Objective 1: Perform 5 sprinting laps around the dojo!

Objective 2: Perform a total of 50 Push-Ups!

Objective 3: Perform a total of 50 Sit-Ups!

Objective 4: Perform a total of 50 Squats!

Objective 5: Perform all the remaining exercises that I-Ching demands!

Rewards: 2,000 EXP, 300 Source Crystals!

Jin dismissed the mental message before he continued with his mourning routine that would stretch out into dusk. At the end of the day, Jin was barely able to sit up straight at the dinner table across from I-Ching and properly eat his food. That was another part of training. In addition to training hard, studying martial arts and Chinese mythology and philosophies, Jin had to eat properly, as if he was in ancient times and dining with the figure head of a clan or government.

If Jin made a mistake or expressed bad manners, the dinner would go to Dumpling without a hint of hesitation on I-Ching's part. So, Jin paid extreme attention to his manners as he ate his food.

When night fell and Jin was in his bed. That was when he finished his quest.

Daily Quest Completed!

Name: Martial Arts Training I

Rewards: 2,000 EXP, 300 Source Crystals, increased REP with I-Ching and Dumpling!

"Awesome." Jin replied before he went to bed for the night and focused on his recovery from today's training.

"Remember to slow down each strike. Control the weight and speed of your weapon." I-Ching explained calmly while circling Jin who was wielding a wooden bo staff and was learning how to use it.

"Mastering a weapon takes a long time and dedication. Your learning speed is impressive, but don't let it make you overconfident. Overconfidence leads to underestimating your enemy and that can lead to death." I-Ching advised Jin who practiced his strikes.

China/Angelic Springs Village!

You have leveled up! Level: 14-15 and gained 5 AP and 1 PP for a total of 20 AP and 4 PP!

"Honestly, your skill astounds me." I-Ching complimented while Jin was upside down with his hands on the ground and his head inches above the dirt as he was performing a handstand while Dumpling was circling him and trying to get him to play.

"What do you mean?" Jin asked since it hasn't been all that long since Jin had started his training.

"I mean that I've taught you more than I imagined I would in a short span of time. I haven't taught you any single style of martial arts and instead taught you how to truly defend yourself as a warrior. In simplistic terms you could start your own self-defense class based on your level of skill alone. Not to mention your ability to grow in strength and power. Meaning that I could realistically teach you more about true martial arts but only if you are honest with me."

"What do you mean?" Jin asked.

"I mean that you're clearly a meta human or something along those lines. Your growth rate goes beyond being a simple prodigy and I often catch you staring off into space or interacting with seemingly nothing at all, and during those times you've made a noticeable increase in your perception and awareness. So, tell me what is it that you're truly doing." I-Ching said in a serious tone of voice causing Jin to flip forward onto his feet before he decided to be fully honest with his teacher and tell him about his unique ability that has apparently been a gift from the Jade Emperor of the Heavens.

Jin also made a mental note that his first quest still wasn't complete, meaning that he might have to speak with the Jade Emperor one day and get more details, but Jin didn't speak of that thought and make things more confusing. I-Ching was understandably confused to the point that Jin opened his inventory and took out a book on his historical studies of China as proof. To I-Ching it looked like Jin had generated and was able to control a pocket space to store items.

"The power of being a videogame protagonist…That truly is a bizarre power, and you said that Sakura herself told you that this 'system' came from the Jade Emperor himself?"

"That's what I've been told. I have a quest to discover the truth about my powers and it hasn't been completed yet, so there might be more to it than that." Jin said back to his teacher while he sat on the ground and gave petted Dumpling while said dog laid down across Jin's crossed legs.

"It seems that you truly are gifted Jin. In truth I have known of you or a person like you for some time. A warrior of white with lilac eyes that shined like jewels. A pure heart and kind soul. The one destined to rival the Monkey King Sun Wukong himself one day…I've waited for that warrior to arrive, and it seems that the warrior is you, but not in the manner that I expected." I-Ching said in a wise voice while Jin was a bit confused.

"You're saying that as if I am apart of some prophecy or something."

"That's because you are. Now allow me to explain. Fang Li isn't a normal fighter, which you've already figured out due to your abilities. The truth is that he was taught how to use the energies of Yin and Yang to break past the normal human limitations. And now I will teach you the same thing, however I cannot guarantee that you will defeat the bloody dragon. That is something only you can decide." I-Ching explained before Jin sat up.

"So, how do we start this training?"

"First, I want you to use all of those 'Attribute Points' and 'Perk Points' that you've saved up. Awakening your Yin and Yang energies can be dangerous for the unprepared and I don't know how your stocked up power could interfere with the process." I-Ching said while Jin summoned up his status screen and started allocating his points.

"Ok, I'm all set." Jin told his teacher who brought his hands together in a prayer like stance while dropping his walking stick.

"Awakening your inner Ki takes years to do and years to master. That is traditionally the first method while the second method is what I will be using to awaken your power. This method is lethal and even I can't predict which way the method will turn out."

"What are you going to do exactly?" Jin asked while seeing I-Ching's hands glow. His right hand is gold while the left hand is crimson red.

"I am going to flood your body with a mixture of positive and negative Ki energy to shock your soul and awaken your Ki. This is dangerous because the technique shocks your entire body. Think along the lines of the Ki or Chakra coils that circulate throughout your entire body. That system is being electrified and it can either unlock your Ki or cripple you for life." I-Ching explained while Jin took a deep breath before taking a step closer.

"I'm ready." Jin said with all the resolve and courage he could muster.

"No, you're not." I'Ching replied before he closed the distance between himself and Jin so fast that Jin couldn't even see him. All he saw was I-Ching suddenly appear in front of him as I'Ching's right pointer and middle finger struck a vital point underneath the right side of Jin's chin and where vital blood veins are located while his left pointer and middle finger struck Jin's belly button with so much force that he felt as if I'Ching had ripped through his stomach entirely.

Jin could hardly believe what he saw as he sat up in bed and saw that around him were incense burners and that Dumpling had been sleeping on his legs and lower body the entire time he had been knocked out!

"Your finally awake." The familiar voice of I-Ching said as he entered the room with a tray of tea in his hands. He offered a cup and Jin drunk the entire thing in a single gulp. His throat was so dry, and the tea helped.

"How long was I out?" Jin asked with a slight headache.

"Days. But you're alive and that's what matters. So, how do you feel?"

"I feel…Weird. But not in a bad way; the feeling is hard to describe but I guess I feel like I've never truly breathed before until now." Replied the confused Jin while I-Ching grabbed his own cup of tea and took a long sip of it.

"I've heard stranger, descriptions. Your inner energy is now awakened, and it is another skill that needs to be honed. I can give you the tools I have to improve your control, but it is up to you to master your Ki. Understand?"

"I understand." Jin replied before I-Ching refilled the teacups.

"We'll start in a few days when your body has fully acclimated to your newfound energy." I-Ching said calmly before he left Jin to rest with Dumpling providing him company.

8/4/2024

China/Angelic Springs Village!

Jin remained focused on his breathing as he sat in a meditative stance while refining his Ki. He expanded and compressed the energy within him in tandem with his breathing.

He could feel the energy within the core of his body. The feeling was weird because it felt like a flame was inside of him, but the flame was ice cold at the same time. His eyes were closed as he emptied his mind of unnecessary thoughts and solely focused on maintaining his breathing and the regulation of his inner energy.

Jin didn't know how long he spent meditating while I-Ching and Dumpling watched. Each time his Ki got disrupted by a lack of focus or a lack of perfect control, I-Ching would hit Jin with his walking stick and tell him to stop and try again. His goal was to maintain perfect control of his Ki.

Simply having the Ki circulate through his body was challenging to say the least and Jin had no idea how I-Ching could do it so effortlessly, but he didn't bother asking any strange questions about it and instead kept focused on the task at hand.

Breathe in.

Breath out.

Expand.

Contract.

The words echoed in Jin's head as he ignored the sound of game alerts sounding off in his ear. The longer he meditated the more exhausted Jin became until he had no choice but to stop and open his eyes while putting his hands on his crossed legs as he looked down at the ground while sweat dripped off his face and hit the ground.

[Ki Manipulation] has leveled up! Level: 15-16-17!

You have gained the [Ki Exhaustion] Debuff!

His Ki pool was emptied, and Jin could feel it within him since he felt exhausted but not in a physical or mental sense. He was spiritually exhausted. Ki comes from the soul and his soul wasn't used to a workout like this since he never used Ki before, but despite how sweaty and exhausted he was. He looked at I'Ching and saw a smile on the old man's face.

"Again, your abilities surprise me. Normal students of Ki would have already passed out by now. Granted your barely standing, but still, you are impressive. It's no wonder you're the hero of a martial arts prophecy." I-Ching said with a smirk.

"Are you ever going to tell me about what this weird prophecy is?"

"Perhaps, but it doesn't do well to give you a swollen head or an inflated ego. Now on your feet. Were going to start sparring." I-Ching said while Jin forced himself to his feet and took a ready stance.
