From the Memoirs of Clone Marshal Commander CC-2224 'Cody'

"…The first battle of Geonosis was my first command. It was the first time I was placed with the two-twelfth battalion and the first time I served under General Kenobi. I was one of the first batch of Clones trained to fight for the Republic. Geonosis was nothing like the simulations. To this day I don't think there was a single thing the Kaminoans could have done to prepare us for that first day of the war, and I was more than happy to move on."

"So you can imagine my displeasure at having to return to the blasted hunk of rock.

"The planet hasn't improved one bit since the last time we were here. Same heat, same sun-baked rocks, same ever-present dirt and dust that somehow finds its way into every seam in my armor and somehow inside my bodyglove too. The bugs were just as bad as I remember them. They make all kinds of noise at all times. When they fly, when they fight, even when they die. Their weapons are no different: handheld sonic blaster discharges make your ears hurt, even with a helmet on, and don't get me started what they can do to an organic body. The frequency ruptures all your internals, blowing up on the inside without leaving an external trace. I pity all the brothers I've lost to those damn things.

"We were almost finished the campaign, tracking down Archduke Poggle the Lesser. That's when the bugs pulled out a few more grisly surprises for us. Turns out they had a queen; a big ugly thing that I swear could make a Hutt retch. And they had these weird little worms that took control of bug corpses and made them move. They weren't living, barely enough functional, but they sure were a helluva tough foe to put down. Damn things killed a lot of my men in those catacombs, but I can happily say we buried the lot of them down there.

"As it stands, we're on our way off world. We blew up what we came to blow up and captured who we came to capture. Now I can finally clean the dirt out of my armor and tally up which of my brothers survived this hellhole. I'm sure Rex and the others will be doing likewise. Might be worth comparing notes to see who got hit the hardest. There will be scars, plenty of new ones. Geonosis is just one giant mess… a meat grinder. It just takes and takes and takes and I'll be a very happy trooper if I never have to set foot on this blasted rock ever again. I just hope it stays quiet from now on. Let that queen rot in peace beneath the surface. These are some bugs that the galaxy doesn't need any more of..."
